We had a work happy hour here and the atmosphere was great and the service was friendly. 2 Reasons Social Hall does not get 5/5 1) From 4pm when it opens to around 6 it was great and then at some point it turned into Chuck E Cheese vibe and there were kids running around everywhere in the couch area we were sitting at the back in. Not sure if it's like this often or just happened to be a high volume family night. 2) We did not have table service we ordered everything up from the bar which we were fine with as we were all paying separately anyway. The odd thing was the bartenders, great as they were, added an automatic 18% service charge to SOME of our tabs with no rhyme or reason. Half of us had more than double tipped and half didn't have the charge??? At the end of the day being someone that worked in the service industry for 10+ years growing up I just have never experienced 18% being added to a single persons tab when you are getting your own drinks from the bar? I suppose it's a lesson to me to look much closer at my bill prior to tipping. Several from our party were paying in cash and it makes me wonder if it was being added on every time to their tabs as well. Is the service charge for the "free games" is it because the bartenders thought we were not going to tip them? Not sure but just be aware. read more

After two visits, I have to say the huge appeal for me is their happy hour (4-6pm everyday). I always get the green chile mac & cheese for half off (normally $14) which is tremendous QPD (that's quantity per dollar). The guac & chips was a miss the first visit, but second time around pretty good. The El Chapo burger is pretty good as well, but the smokin' cowboy sandwich was non-too impressive and I'd pass on it. Social Hall is a lot of fun and has a restaurant plus arcade games. Our group started off with drinks and they were all quite tasty. Pretty weak though in alcohol especially for the price you're paying if you order something specific that isn't on the menu. I stuck with the Spicy Paloma since it was on happy hour and was quite happy with it, but my husband said the Old Fashion and Manhattan fell flat. Food was pretty good as well. We started with nachos and Thai chili wings and everyone really enjoyed these. They were both in happy hour and decent in size. I ordered the cubano for dinner and the sandwich was okay. The meat was really dry and the panini bread was WAY over toasted and very hard to bite into. My husband and one of our friends had the California chicken sandwich and they both said it was okay. The chicken was weird and didn't fit the same size as the bread so 1/4 of the sandwich was all bread. Honestly the best part was the truffle fries! Service was good and I can't say we have any major complaints. But the weak drinks did cause us to move to another bar for the 2nd half of the night. read more

This is my second visit and second review. Upon walking in, we were sat pretty quickly. It was a booth right in front of the bar as it was a little chilly outside. It took 10 minutes before someone casually strolled by and said someone will be right with you. No problem. 10 minutes later and waitress arrives with menus and says she'll be right back with waters. That's okay. We go over the menu's and 5 minutes later she appears and we place our orders. The food was delivered within a decent normal time frame for the amount that was ordered. The food was fantastic! I cannot stress this enough. It's what brought me back for a second round. The steak was cooked perfectly. The veggies were just crisp enough and seasoned well. The Brussel sprouts were delicious and something new. The wings were good too. Overall, I was super happy with the food. The server disappeared and we had all the plates stacked and waited patiently as we watched server after server pass. I mean it was so obvious that we were done, even the bartender kept making eye contact with our table. Finally our server stopped by and asked if we needed to go boxes. She came back very quickly with the to go boxes but disappeared for 25 MINUTES. We sat there waiting and waiting until I finally had enough. We had no drinks and our table was cleared but she never brought us the check. I walked up to the host stand and stood there looking weird and out of place for 5 minutes. So many servers walked past me and didn't even acknowledge me so I could ask someone for my check. I felt like I was being punk'd. Finally she comes out of the side door behind the hostess stand and was like "Oh, I was just heading to your table." I advised her that we have been waiting for her for a very long time. Her response was then kind of cold and thank you come again. I'd still recommend Social Hall for the food alone, but if your server is slow speak up quicker than I did. Trying to find a place to fit our group of 10+ friends, we were pleased to come across this location at the Social Hall! We were seated within minutes outside as requested and had heaters nearby and also overhead covers to keep the sun out of our eyes. It took a bit to get service which seemed like a pattern throughout the night, although it's hard to know if it was solely because of our big group. Most people started with a alcoholic beverage - the capri sun one being a big hit. Although there were some complaints on "it settling " and having to be constantly stirred so it wasn't overly sweet. There was a good variety of food and all but 1 was pleased with their choice. Prices seems fair and no complaints overall! The environment was fun for a date, friends, families with older kids, college groups, etc. Lots of indoor and outdoor spaces to play games, sit by the fire, have a drink and/or bite to eat, etc. Also a great place for some candid photos, especially the mural outside! I booked the Rafter Room for my Roaring Retirement Party. It was absolutely amazing! Working with Bailey to coordinate the night was seamless. The communication was spot on, and I felt at ease with how the evening would go. We added our own touches to decorate the space and brought in a DJ for the party. The event space was perfect for the theme as the Rafter Room reminded me of a Speak Easy. The food was outstanding, and the staff was super friendly and attentive during my party. I would highly recommend the Social Hall for any upcoming event. I had about 40 guests that have all expressed how awesome things looked and how delicious the food tasted. I was so pleased with how my retirement party turned out and to see all my friends, family and co-workers all having such a great time!!! I was in search of a place to have a birthday party for my son's 19th birthday. We had 30 people. I live in CA and have never been to Tempe, so my research was all online with Yelp and the restaurant's websites. I chose the Social Hall for the food options, reviews, games, location, and price of meals. I emailed them to see if they would be a good fit for us. Bailey was quick to respond and circled back around to me each time I took a while to respond. At first, we thought we'd like the private room upstairs, but that was only offered with a minimum spend, and since the kids are young and don't drink alcohol, that wouldn't work for us. They accommodated us with outside tables on the patio. When we arrived, we were greeted at the front by our friendly server, Dylan. He was understanding that some of our party was delayed and assured me that it was not a problem. The atmosphere and service were top-notch. A lot of us ordered the rib-eye steak with corn risotto and veggies. It was sooo good! I always appreciate it when servers use seat numbers for everyone's orders and don't auction off plates of food. They gave us pitchers of water, which was also appreciated. Having the games to play in between eating and after was more than perfect. We were all pleased with the quality and quantity of our meals. When I walked around the restaurant, everyone looked like they were enjoying themselves as much as we were. I know most people are on Yelp to look at food, but I just want to recommend Social Hall--specifically the Rafter Room--as an event space (that also has INCREDIBLE food). My husband and I decided to skip the traditional wedding and have an intimate family wedding in the Rafter Room of Social Hall. It was the PERFECT place for us and we are (still!) so thrilled with our decision. I'm not sure how to describe the feeling of walking into Rafter Room. It's moody, intimate, rustic, and it just feels so nice. All of our family and closest friends said the place fit us so well as a couple. We were a bit nervous because we weren't sure how the food was going to be, but WOW. It was incredible! Everyone LOVED the food. After the event, the staff boxed up the food for us. I ate leftovers every day for a week and did not get sick of it. We did the Social Grill package and that smoked brisket with barbecue was heavenly. (Now that I'm writing this, I want to eat it again haha!) The staff was also amazing. Ashley and Madeline were extremely communicative throughout the whole process and were so easy to work with. The staff that helped us the day of were also so nice and helpful. I've been telling everybody about Social Hall as an event space since our wedding. (Also, if you're in need of audio or media for an event, we surprised everyone with a vow video we had filmed a month prior and luckily for us, the Rafter Room has a built-in projector screen and audio setup. Their menu changes a bunch and the Green Chile Mac has gone down in quality over the years. It used to be this amazing penne pasta with the perfect cheese and the juiciest carnitas. If you wanted something you had to take advantage when the waitress came by and ask for everything at once. The ambiance is nice, there is music and games inside. Had a bday party there. Food was awesome, server for drinks was clearly inexperienced and very slow. It was not crowded at the time so not sure why that happened. Honestly I felt bad for the guy because there were two servers just standing by the bar who never offered to help. The event coordinator wasn't there for me to talk to about the issues. Ambiance wasn't really good at all. Furniture was dirty from a monsoon two days before and they just wiped off the tops of the stools and tables. I couldn't sit on the stools because I would have had huge dirt marks on my pant legs. Told us that there would be misters but they were directed toward the sidewalk outside rather than the seating area. It certainly wasn't an inexpensive event either. Would never go there again. Came here at 9pm and they said the bar is open and I asked if the kitchen is open and they said yeah, for 20 mins. So ordered at the bar but you can sit anywhere. The music was so loud out of no where. The burger had no taste and my burger was suppose to have pickles and my burger nor my friends had pickles. I asked for waffle fries and my friend wanted sweet potato fries so they never gave me regular waffle fries and we both got sweet potato waffle fries. The fries were good thou!
