First off I understand SSA is in danger from the fact it is under staffed and scaled back: that is a sign of our times: defunding the system. I am grateful for the system Office Motto We can do anything to you we like that you cannot stop us from doing. Here at Auburn the problem is this: they are curt! They cut you off. Shut you down. Then say you need to be polite when asking a question. Problem they may demand a payment for medical premiums, then they tell you they do not have the authority to do it. Yet they demand it. Then fall back to pay! pay! If you try to get information they will end the call. They are essentially blocking people from medical, playing god. Life Death is their mind set. I asked why did you demand payment if you do not have the authority and did you send a letter? They will then say it Medicare not us and Medicare will say it is them In this way they block any dialogue: they will try to stop you from escalating to a manager who can resolve the issue or negotiate. You can call 100 times they will block you out. This office is like no other I have delt with. In the past open ended conversation took place, and people worked with you. Not here these people do not work with you they work against you. They may have negative views of people on SSA or parts of it or take personal issue with people. They make the rules, they tell you how it is, even if that is not true. IF you try to get them to define it, they will hang up end the call in Curt manner. These people stripped me of medical for 3 years and I had to go to OIJ just to get the door open - just to get to a person who could talk. These people sent ,me to hell near death They want deportment and offer none Try to get to another office. If you try to get answers, as always you get blow back. Very odd office, and I have known several offices - this place is dangerous for you Sand Traps: First these people are/or should be there to help you and teach you not smack you down Example: I asked where did money go. Agent nothing was taken! Me: Yes it was and want to know where it went. Agent, I will send a letter. Me, I am asking if you took money out. Agent, Medicare takes it Me, no you took out and demanded payment- why if you are not able to do that. y Agent, I told you I would send a letter Me, You very short. curt and not allowing for communication Agent if you learned how to talk to people maybe you would not get that. This a trap, where she insinuating that I am being rude for asking questions and she does see the irony. Like Mean spirited 5th grade teach or an old school catholic nun: I mean that, I can't say all of them but it is a toxic office Once people like this start to label you, it is dangerous, she will take anything out of context ( threaten you by indirect means) which this unit does Maybe you go there for a chat, I recommend you go another office. I recently went through the process of establishing my Medicare. It was a nightmare and I had to get records from my ex-husband from the 2000's. I got sent away at least three times. It was very frustrating. But when I finally got everything, they acknowledged the hard work I did to get there and I am very appreciative for their help and time. Some employees are nice and helpful, However KON from The Auburn office needs to stop telling people who live in Placer County that they need to go to the Roseville office . The "Auburn" SSI office is also an option to make an appointment, or walk in during business hours if needed. Anyone who lives in Placer county should be seen here if this is the office they choose to go to for their services. If you do not want to do your Job then get a new one, otherwise do your job and try and be pleasant to work with. read more

Today I called in to get help from the Social Security Department to ask a question about a letter I received. I was transferred to a female who didn't give me her name. I like to write down the name of the person I spoke with for my own records. When I asked her her name she refused to give it to me and was rude with me about it. I don't understand why. I asked again for her name and she said, Susan. I said that I wasn't sure why she was being rude about that. Then she said because she couldn't hear me. It seems she was pissed off about giving her name. She also said she is the only one in the office taking calls. I knew I wouldn't get anywhere with her so I asked to speak to her supervisor. She refused. I told her I don't want to speak to her, I want to speak to her Supervisor. Again, she refused and said she wouldn't transfer me until I gave her my information. I was in no way comfortable with giving her my information. She told me to "just hang up, call back and speak to someone else." But she just told mw she is the only.one answering calls in the office. Seems like she is lying about several things. At this point I knew Susan was just going to put up a fight so I hung up. She called me back and quickly said "So you know I already warned my supervisor about you so he knows what he is getting into." I was shocked. So, I call for help, she immediately has an attitude and she warned her Supervisor about ME? Ya....okay. So then she gets a really condescending tone of voice and now all of a sudden wants to be as sweet as a peach and says she will transfer me to her Supervisor. But she wasn't trying to be helpful at all. She was basically being sarcastically sweetto give me the middle finger. She transfers me and I lose the connection. I call back and unfortunately I have to speak to Susan again. This time I say, hey look.we got off on the wrong foot. I called in trying to get help and immediately you were rude and I wasn't expecting that. I'm sorry, but you were rude. She said, with her lovely little attitude (sarcasm) "Well I couldn't hear you." Does that really warrant acting like a rude child? So I asked, "Do you want to apologize for your part?" Click....she transferred me immediately to her supervisor. I guess I should have asked for an apology from her in the very beginning. Maybe then we could have avoided all of her snarkiness. What's funny is the recording you hear before being transferred to an employee says the phone calls are recorded for quality assurance. Uhhhhh.....someone may want to find a job where she doesn't have to deal with PEOPLE on a DAILY basis. Clearly customer service isn't her strong suit. read more

I can't say enough good about this office. I forgot my online​ password and we also moved. I tried to get a new password online and SSA wants to mail me some sort of pin or code.​ Mind you we have moved so that pin would also go to the incorrect address. I called the Roseville, CA office and they want me to drop in to change my address. I tried to explain that I have a vision problem and do not drive until after a surgery. They could care less. In desperation,​ I called the Auburn office, WOW, what a difference. The young man that helped me, changed my mailing address and phone number right then and there. Of course,​ he asked me to verify, my date of birth, mothers maiden name, fathers name and a little bit more. But it was a pleasure working with someone that was really out to help me. read more

Somewhat partial to this place but it can be a tough visit for some folks. The staff always has the public's best interest on every interaction even though it may seem the odds are against them.
