I started bringing clothes here due to the convenient location and the reviews that suggested overall positive experiences. At first, I appreciated how the garments were finished. Over time, however, problems became hard to ignore. I repeatedly had to insist that stains be noted during intake--even obvious ones I pointed out--and, as another recent reviewer mentioned, basic stains were often not removed. The final straw came with my last order, which was missing three shirts when I picked it up. When I raised the issue, the manager (Cesar) shrugged and suggested I check an abandoned clothing rack myself. These were bespoke shirts from Geneva Shirts in Manhattan, costing $350 each. I simply can't afford to entrust expensive, custom clothing to a cleaner that handles items this casually. If you invest in expensive clothes be warned about this cleaner. I wonder how many positive reviews they will need to buy to bury this one. read more

The people that work here were very nice but were unable to get a yellow stain out of my favorite white top but still charged me $10 for it. They told me the stain would probably be stuck on the shirt forever. After i got home i looked up home remedies for stains and ended up vinegar and baking powder to get the stain out myself. I can scream to high heaven now that I finally found a reliable and excellent quality tailor. I bought a very large pair of corduroy pants from Levi's that needed to be taken in at the waist. The tailor at Levi's quoted me $30 something and I got it for almost half of that here. From the moment you walk in, you'll be greeted by Lourdes who is so genuinely nice that she feels like family. I changed into the pants in their bathroom, albeit small it did the trick. After stepping out, Lourdes did a quick assessment and noted how much had to be taken in. What impressed me the most was that Lourdes herself made sure to note that the pants should be taken in at specific foldings in the back to not show the alterations that were done and yo reduce the bagginess at the waist. Luckily, I did not have a complicated case so the whole process took less than 5 minutes. Their tailor, who I believe is Maria, did an amazing job. The work she did was so good and clean/organized that I probably could have returned the pants to Levi's without them knowing any work was done. For anyone that knows me IRL, you know I'm small of stature (that's a euphemism for SHORT). I didn't want to be too tiny in my wedding pics, so opted for beautiful wedges that were definitely not going to make it too long on the dance floor. Indeed, I ended up switching to flats right after our first dance. Combine that with the dirt and grass I was traipsing around all night, and you have one filthy wedding dress by the end of the whole affair. After perusing Yelp for a spot to get my dirty dress cleaned and preserved, I ended up at Society Cleaners. In total, it cost about $550 for the cleaning and box. Of course, this is the first time I've had a wedding dress preserved, so I wasn't quite sure of what it should cost but I had already dropped a pretty penny on the whole affair and figured this would be my last big expense. When paying that much, you want an experience that fits the bill. Unfortunately, that's where Society Cleaners fell short. I was never notified when it was done being cleaned (although told I would be). I eventually called myself and was told it was ready to be looked at. I saw it and it seemed clean! They said it'd be boxed up and ready the following week but when I returned even more than a week later, it was still not ready. I finally received my clean dress about two months after I dropped it off. Never once receiving a phone call through the whole process. Was in worth it in the long run? Probably, but I just wish the whole service was a little more stress free. read more

I brought a formal dress that I wore for a wedding. As usually happens with long gowns, the bottom of the dress gets dirty (dark) so it needs to be taken to the cleaners. They quoted me between 100$ and 120$ to clean it. When I went to pick it up it was 120$ plus tax. I will think twice before I wear this dress again.... Extremely disappointed in the service here. I brought one of my suede jackets purchased in Italy to get dry cleaned. They told me cleaning had to be sent out to another facility to be done. No big deal. I had a baby was home bound for 6 months, unable to pick up my jacket. When I tried to pick up my jacket, the person told me it was donated. I received no phone call or message even notifying me for pick up. I won't be bringing anything back here again for dry cleaning. I lost even the deposit I paid to have this service done. I am writing my review on behalf of my own experience as well as a friend that I recommended. DO NOT TAKE YOUR WEDDING DRESS HERE. I brought my wedding dress here a year ago. I picked it up and it was hanging on a WIRE hanger. They didn't use the silk support hangers for the dress when I took it out for the first time and it stretched my lace. The lady said she could fix a small hole the size of a penny where my bustle was - when I picked it up, I took her word for it when she said she actually fixed it and it wasn't a problem at all. Fast forward to now - the hole is there. It was never fixed. She lied. My best friend brought her silk wedding dress here. After they were done with it, it literally shrank to the point where it couldn't even be put on. It was turned grey from white and the material which was a beautiful hammered silk looked like it was put through a sausage machine. Absolutely awful. Beyond repair and she was charged $300 for this. NO money was returned for this mishap. Horrible. I will never recommend them again and am so sorry I did. If only had opened and looked at my dress sooner, I could have prevented her from going here as well. read more
