Jennifer agreed to accommodate me and even stayed after hours to work on me. She assessed my hair and decided what to do (we ended up removing 50% of the extensions -- the previous salon had added too much hair so she could charge me for more hair, which was one of the reasons I ended up looking like I was wearing a wig). Jennifer cut the width of the extensions and replaced them at the most natural position for my head shape, and blended everything together seamlessly. Jennifer, you are amazing!!! Thank you so much. I ended up booking for Wednesday afternoon, parked nearby the coffee shop. Wasn't a busy day. Arlene is such a hair expert! I told her I prefer short hair for the volume and she showed me some ideas. We decided that a short bob would be best to fix my mess! She did a fantastic job fixing up the uneven pieces, making sure to fix the bangs so it would grow out nicely. She also showed me how to style it at home, since short hair is high maintenance. I'm super happy with how it turned out, and I'll definitely be back when it's time to trim. I met Yuki, who owns and operates this salon and also one of the best stylists I've had in my years of barbers. She is so nice and explained the process of the donation and also provided guidance on selecting the best hair cut for me. After looking at a few photos, I decided to go with a moderate cut to ease back into the general population. I was so happy with the results and would recommend Yuki to any of my friends. She will only take appointments and is the busiest during the weekend. I would recommend calling well in advance for your appointment, as she works generally towards the end of the week through the weekend.

Yuki should have warned me that my hair was too fine for this process instead of taking my money to ruin my hair. To top it off when I called to tell her she did not apologize, she did not act as though she felt bad her response was not caring at all. Not to mention she didn't offer any advice or a refund. Now it will take me years to get my hair healthy and I'm so upset.

I said I had another appt after but that would be fine. I arrived and sat down and waited. They said I was checked in. I waited one hour before going to the front desk to say that now, I would not have time to do the appt because, as I told them, I would have to leave for another appt. I had allotted 2 hours and now there was only 1 hour left and I had not even been seen or sent for hair washing. All the while I waited, I could see Sal doing at least 2 other people's hair. When I asked the front desk if I could reschedule, they said they would talk to him. Several minutes passed. Sal was aware that I was there, but chose not to speak to me himself. He chose not to even take two minutes to face me and apologize. He was going to Mexico the next night, and could only offer the next day during hours I had to work. The salon manager apologized for Sal and offered another hair dresser. I have curly hair and want someone experienced in curly hair- especially when the haircut is right before my wedding and will cost hundreds of dollars. I think the worst part was that Sal was right there but simply didn't have the courtesy to apologize. I will never return to this salon. As for my wedding in two weeks, I have asked my makeup artist to help me find someone.

I went in for a bleach and tone with about 1-1.5 inches of regrowth and agreed to pay an additional…read more$150 for a double process after being told my roots could reach the desired lift that day if I paid extra for the double bleach. I specifically said I was willing to pay the extra because I did not want yellow or orange roots. Not only did my roots remain yellow after processing and toner, but since the appointment I now have noticeable breakage on the bottom of my hair that was not present beforehand. My hair appear fragile and uneven, and my hair feels significantly thinner since this appointment. I can't even run my fingers through it .......it feels extremely dry, rough, and damaged. During styling, I also received a burn on my ear from her curling iron. When I raised concerns about the color result. It was dismissed rather than addressed. She told me it was impossible to get my roots bright blonde with regrowth this long....... after already charging me extra for the double process and assuring me it could be done. This service was performed by Jaime, the owner. I am now left with breakage in the back, damaged hair, and yellow roots.

Of course, I turned to Yelp for the scoop and zeroed in on Ms. Glen's Therapeutic Manicures & Pedicures. I finally got a chance to go see Ms. Glen and it was everything I wanted and more. It was relaxing (I fell asleep)! It was restorative! My feet felt and looked healthy and cared for. I didn't get polished which is great because I have been wanting to go natural for a while to let my nails breathe and focus on what's really happening with my toe nail health. So may things I loved (in no particular order): - Very communicative from the appointment (via phone) to the confirmation and directions (via text) - Ms. Glen greeted me at the door - The studio smells divine (really sets the tranquil mood) - The studio was intimate (just me - yay) - The space was very clean (I am a stickler for clean) - There was a complimentary water waiting on me - Ms. Glen has developed her own techniques and products which speaks to her dedication and specialization (I love people who are passionate about what they do!) - Every step of the treatment was appreciated! (very detailed, very attentive, think - pampering your feet from the in-depth massage to the parrafin to the soaks to the grooming and much much more) - I got socks! This was such a special and much needed last step that I never knew I needed. It made my feet more comfortable and protected after such a beautiful treatment. She even asked me my size. How's that for customer service! - Now this one may seem trivial but I never had to hold my feet up during the treatment unless I was transitioning from the bowl to a towel. I do not like having to do that while someone attends to the bottom of my feel or heels. Ms. Glen has it worked out where I can truly relax the whole time. I also left with one of Ms. Glen's therapeutic hand and foot oils in Lemon. She makes the oils herself! It smells so good and leaves a refreshing but not overpowering scent. It feels good oiling my feet every night. Like another reviewer said, this is not your run of the mill pedicure shop. This is a therapeutic service that is worth every penny. My goal is to make this a regular treatment. If my feet are healthy, I am healthier! Thanks Ms. Glen for such a wonderful experience! I'll be back. If your feet are in need of TLC, renewal and restoration, Ms. Glen has a carefully curated service that will leave your feet feeling brand new. I had recently purchased a soap that helps with skin discoloration. It hasn't been making any improvement in the uneven skin tone and dark marks on my feet. Turns out I just needed an appointment with Ms. Glen. The exfoliation she provided literally rubbed away 15 years from my feet. My dry scratchy heels were left supple and smooth and the calloused areas were left soft. Had I known what I was in store for I would have taken before and after pictures. She even provided socks for me to leave in, to seal in the moisture. My favorite part hands down was the massage. She kneaded into these tired soles, and I needed that! I paid a little more than the price listed (which she does quote as a base price) but she also spent almost 2x the amount of time listed. My Fiancé noticed the difference in appearance and feel immediately. I intentionally waited until 24 hours+ had passed to write this review, wanting to see if my feet would feel just as nice. THEY DO!! Ms. Glen definitely puts pride in her work and I love how she checked in throughout the process to ensure I was satisfied along the way. I recommend her service to anyone looking to give their feet a more youthful feel and look. And if your feet have severe issues that might keep you from visiting open public salons, her private suite will help you feel comfortable and secure. Right before I left, Ms. Glen threw in a bottle of her therapeutic hand & foot oil once she saw how dry my hands were. I had discussed my upcoming nuptials with her and she wanted to make sure my hands moisturized properly for my big day, even providing a demonstration on proper application. Ms. Glen is a gem!

I trusted the front desk staff to guide me, and was quoted $80 for Gel-X, builder gel removal, and French tip. At my appointment on Friday 7/18, I was unexpectedly charged $110! I was told the card on file couldn't be used for the service--only for late fees or no-shows--which made no sense. If the salon can charge the card for penalties, why not for the actual service being provided? This was especially frustrating because the appointment was a gift for a huge accomplishment of mine, from my mother, so of course I didn't have the physical card with me. On top of that I was also charged extra for nail length without warning, and billed twice for polish: $20 for gel color and $15 for French tip, even though I only received 1 design; french tip. When I asked for clarification, staff just pointed to the online pricing--but I booked in person to avoid that confusion. The experience felt misleading. I intentionally came in person to avoid confusion and relied on the staff to guide me accurately. Unfortunately, that did not happen. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. If you're considering booking here, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for more transparent and customer-friendly service.

Oh my god, I went to Amel and honestly can't believe what she did. Completely blew me away and was so much better than what I even imagined. I haven't been to a salon for over a year due to the pandemic, and my usual hair stylist moved out of town so i had to start over. What I did to my hair during the quarantine was horrendous. I had like 6 different colors, full gray at the top, a band of orange, a DARK band of brown then different colors of brown, orange, blondish and some pink... it was a mess. I honestly thought that it was impossible to fix. But Amel was determined and took the time to really make it happen. I went in for a consult 2 weeks before so we could make a plan. I had some reference photos that were just like shades of blonde i liked, but I told her to do whatever she wanted and she delivered above and beyond. She got me to a gorgeous shade of blonde with a much lighter base and beautiful melty colors. I am obsessed. She also did the Olaplex 1 + 2 bond treatment to better protect my hair during the process, and it feels so good. After the color I went over to Lauren's chair for a much needed cut... and she is not only incredible at her craft but also the nicest coolest person. Both Amel and Lauren pass the vibe check. They are friendly, inviting, funny and kind. There is no sense of pretension at all, which is SUCH a relief because LA is filled with so much of that... (Like everyone calm down, we are all people its not that big of a deal.) The folks at the front desk were so nice too, everyone I spoke to on the phone was beyond helpful and friendly. It is usually difficult for me to remember to write a review, whether positive or negative, about my experience with a service. However, I am so happy with my experience at Society Salon and the results of my haircut by Lucy and hair color by Amel, I made a point to put a reminder in my calendar so I would not forget. In general, my experience at the salon was very positive and comfortable. The salon was clean, the vibe was chill and everyone that worked there was very kind and appeared to be happy to be there. Per a friend's referral, I specifically asked to see Lucy for my cut and Amel for my color. I have long, thick, curly hair and so I have had my share of experiences where a stylist told me he/she knew how to work with my kind of hair, only to be disappointed for yet another haircut that left me continuing my ritual of wearing a bun. Getting my hair cut by Lucy was a pleasant experience and the first time in a long time I have been so excited about the results that I can proudly say I have been wearing my hair down almost every day since. I am grateful to finally have found someone who I feel confident about coming back to again and again. Most recently, I decided to get a full highlight done by Amel. It had been about a year since I had my color done and my roots were long and dark with my ends several shades of blonde. I really needed a change. I wasn't a hundred percent sure about how I wanted it to look, so Amel shared her idea of using different shades of blonde and toners and I said: "Go for it!" It was 5-hours (something I am actually used to since I have so much hair) filled with fun conversation and laughter, topped off with results that made me incredibly happy and eager to show my family and friends. OHHH MY GAWD - DREAM HAIR UNLOCKED! Jen De Sauza gave me the color I was born with decades ago but have long struggled to recreate. My medium blonde hair has a natural red undertone and Jen carefully lifted me with perfectly placed highlights, a root shadow, an icy toner and a gloss to get me to that magic place I thought was impossible to create. The grow out is flawlessly blended and I'm able to go long periods (4 months!) between touch ups. She's super, mega, majorly gifted with blondes and just an absolute joy to talk to. If you're lucky and open she might even read your aura when you are in her chair :) I searched for over 5 years in LA to find a salon with the best stylists and colorists and the short list of places who do both exceptionally well is ONE: SOCIETY SALON! I moved to L.A. 3 years ago and booked an appointment at Society Salon based on a recommendation -- and I'm so glad I did. The space is gorgeous and effortlessly cool, the kind of place that makes you feel instantly elevated but still completely at ease. Everyone is warm, stylish, and welcoming, and the whole vibe is just right. It's the kind of salon experience where you feel like you're in excellent hands before the scissors even come out. And then -- there's Nato VanDine. Nato is a total pro and true artist: wildly skilled, genuinely thoughtful, and clearly at the top of his craft. I have very thick, curly hair, which not everyone knows how to work with, but Nato handled it like it was no big deal. Not only did he give me the best cut I've ever had (truly!), but since our first booking, he also broke things down in a way that made it all feel accessible -- sharing styling tips, teaching me about my texture, and giving me the kind of insider info you usually only get after years with a stylist. Society Hair is a weird place. They require - IN ADVANCE - your full cc info just to book, plus advance photos plus advance paperwork to fill out AND SIGN like some doctor's office. As a 35-yr legal expert I've seen this before as remedial efforts to cure past problems, i.e., complaints, bad reviews, nonpayment from disgruntled customers - but for benefit of the doubt i hoped it instead meant seriously responsible hair care by seasoned pro's. I rarely rely on good reviews bc having large SEO marketing companies for clients I recognize the lingo in paid reviews a mile away. On arrival at this salon you get somebody with the usual Melrose Avenue "Me-Too, Me-First, Me-Only" attitude. After all they put me through just to walk thru the door, she knew none of it. I don't care how bad an attitude is - if skills are stellar, I always overpay. A lot. But this salon does not - i repeat - DOES NOT even have hair color samples - no books, no swatches, nothing. What salon operates this way? She wouldn't even explain what ash colors they have on hand, so they charge top dollar on a complete gamble. Today was my first visit to Society and it was a positive experience. I was impressed with how the salon handled LA County's revised public health guidelines surrounding COVID. I made an online appointment the day before and entered my payment information. I completed the salon's brief online liability release form prior to the appointment. Upon my arrival, the receptionist communicated quickly with me via text to let me know that I could enter the salon. My stylist, Nathan, was ready to see me right away. Nathan is a great stylist: he's attentive, talented and experienced. Society is very lucky to have him given his prior experience as a senior Vidal Sassoon educator. The cut and blow-dry took an estimated 60 minutes, which is typical. I also noticed that the stylists were appropriately distanced from each other. This is to ensure that both clients and employees could occupy the space safely. Finally, the payment was contactless: having already submitted my information online, the receptionist confirmed the final charge after the cut. I have been seeing Mariah for over 5+ years now back when she was in Seattle. She really is THAT GOOD that I flew to LA to be back in her chair. With dark, thick Asian hair, it felt impossible to find someone who understood toning and brass. I've asked her to do every possible haircut and colored highlights (from pink to warm caramel to ashy brown) and every single time she nails the placement/blending. Additionally, she really talks you through pricing before starting and realistic expectations on where you can get in one session. Back in Seattle, she used to teach classes to other hairstylist- she really knows what she's doing I promise you:) Always on top of the trends and so so fun! Amel takes coloring to the next level - I went in with some really damaged blonde hair and intense brown root grow out. Amel is the absolute BEST, she enhanced my hair in ways I didn't even know it could be! Her attention to detail is superb and she knew exactly what I wanted to have done, as well as what my hair needed. Let's just say my favorite days of the year is when I come to see amel for my partial or full highlights. Amel is THAT hairstylist. I've always bounced back and forth between hairstylists until I came and booked an appointment with amel, I absolutely refuse to book with anyone else because of how great of a job amel already does. My hair used to be dull, broken, and dark because any other stylist I went to never gave me what I wanted or needed but amel exceeded my expectations she did my dream hair and she always does. I have been getting my hair cut by Lucy since 2009 when she was at Vidal Sassoon. I would follow her anywhere and when she went to Society I went too. I love the vibe of the salon as much as I love Lucy's cuts. I've lived all over the world and have had my hair cut by great stylists in NYC, Dallas, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Bologna, Italy and Copenhagen. Lucy, by far, understands my hair the best and always gives me the greatest cuts. Everyone always notices how good my hair looks when Lucy cuts it so I make a point to route my travels through LA specifically so I can get Lucy to do my hair. Lucy is so talented she makes what she does look easy. That's the mark of a master. As she's cutting we talk and laugh and tell stories while she's working her magic. I've followed Amel for color and Jee for fabulous cuts through a salon transition to Society, which is full of creative energy and a smiling, helpful staff. I was so happy when I left the salon yesterday I have to share: AMEL - a pro LA colorist, she somehow gets my hair to a shade of red that looks like I was born with it, and if I ask for a change (there have been many, all good) she tells me her honest opinion about how it will look on my face. JEE BLACKWELL - one of the best LA stylists, Jee keeps my fine, straight hair that shows every scissor mark, looking perfect. I really leave with a perfect cut! She has also been very patient when I've asked for a major change, one time going back 4 times when I asked her to cut a "little" more. There are two women at this Salon I want to praise to the skies: Jee for hair styling and Amel for color and eye makeup. I re-found Jee after trying to trace her down, i was so unhappy to have lost her. Jee suggested Amel to me when i decided my silvery locks needed a new look. Oh gosh. I can't tell you what they have come to mean to me. They are intelligent. They are creative. If you ask them to try something, they do it, and help you develop the "look". Let me start off by saying I am EXTREMELY RIDICULOUSLY picky about who touches my hair. I don't care if it's on the poshest street in LA, I'm picky. I went here on recommendation by the key hair department head of Black Panther and so many more movies... Honestly went on expecting everyone to be a boujee and aloof, but I couldn't be more wrong. The staff is so so sweet - they will talk with you, take care of you, even bring you coffee and cookies! Amel colored my hair and she is incredible. Mischie has been doing my highlights for almost ten years, and I wouldn't trust anyone else with my hair. My natural color is super dark brown, and I constantly push her to take me as blonde as possible. I wanted to do this review after I washed my hair for the first time to see how it would feel and whether it returned to curls or not! It has a little wave in it but it's so much better and easier to manage being straight than curly! Curly hair is very high maintenance and I just never knew what to do with my hair so I mostly just put it in a ponytail! With my straight hair, it dries in 30-45 minutes and I use a dry cream and it works just as good as a flatiron! I am sure it would probably be straighter if I kept using a flatiron and sometimes I will but I am trying to keep my hair as healthy as possible! It has helped me with taking snapchats and doing my acting and social media! Makes doing my hair so much easier and I always loved having it done! Now I remember why! I am so glad my hair didn't fall off since I accidentally allowed a different stylist from another salon bleach my hair lighter and apparently doing that and then getting this treatment done can damage the hair! Thank You so so much to you Hiroshi for making sure my hair was protected and for being so careful with it!
