Overall had a nice experience at this main street coffee shop. The menu was different, I'd like to go back and check out some of the more interesting syrups such as coconut lime or maple pancakes. I did not get any food as I had just had a bagel, but it looked like they had some tasty options! We wandered in on a rainy, gloomy Sunday morning, which meant we didn't have to wait! Really cute coffee shop in downtown Placerville, that even has a parking lot right next door. It's very welcoming with lots of space - the building seems to go on and on. Server was really friendly and made me a great Americano. I had the bowl and my husband had the burrito. I really loved my bowl and especially the spicy sauce. Coffee is great - roasted on site! Darling little coffee shop off the main street in Placerville! Grab a coffee and walk around! We grabbed a couple different coffees and a cute pop tart pastry. Such great service! Everyone is so friendly! No outdoor seating though so you can't bring your pets but lots of indoor seating. They have a unique interesting menu that creates amazing flavors blended with coffee. Ambiance is so sweet and lots of seating to hang out. Loved it! read more

Ugh, wish this place existed by me! You can tell they are focused on providing the best quality. We ordered a matcha latte with manhattan spice, teddy graham, and pop tart. The matcha latte tasted like matcha with Cinnamon Toast Crunch milk, a real winner. Pop tart was beautiful and perfectly flaky w/the sweet strawberry filling. My partner enjoyed his coffee. Service was friendly and they take their time crafting your drink. The inside is cute, no patio seating. We ran into a coffee show owner from our area here, so random but he also knows good coffee/matcha! read more

Sociology has opened their second location in Placerville so we knew we had to try it before driving to Tahoe for the weekend. Ordering online is super easy and comes with descriptions. The parking lot right next door is a bit rocky but there is some street parking available as well. There is a outdoor patio in the back but it seems like its not maintained well and quite dirty. We opted to just eat in the car. They could definitely improve the outdoor area. Breakfast burrito - Just okay in my opinion. The main ingredients are egg & bacon so the only flavor profile that stands out is the salt from the bacon. Textures and flavorwise is pretty bland and boring. They could definitely improve this by adding tater tots, a creamy sauce, or some salsa. Tesora- if you like your coffee sweet, order this! The coffee is well balanced, sweet and has a cozy cinnamon finish. Final thoughts: would definitely come back for the coffee but skip the breakfast burrito next time. read more

The chef's bowl is delicious. Exactly what you need on a cold morning. Hearty, smoky, indulgent without making you feel heavy afterward. Perfectly fried egg. Crispy bacon. Nice touch of freshness with the micro greens. Although I personally loved the chipotle sauce, if you're not used to heat, then I'd recommend you request light sauce and maybe add avocado and tomato. But if you're like me and like chipotle, the sauce is something you can see yourself putting on everything. The Teddy Graham can also cool down the palate. I'm not one for iced coffee but I saw bourbon and you know ... sold. But really, it was well balanced and flavorful while still being able to taste coffee. The service was fast too. Oh yeah! We are fans of the Sociology in Folsom, but first time coming to the one in Placerville! Loved it! This space is HUGE! So many places to sit, which is great. I hate a super crowded coffee shop.... They also have a patio to sit outside when it's nice. We got coffees and fresh made pastries. This eatery is a spin off from the Sociology in Folsom. Our Associate who served us was Camille and she was delightful serving us with energy and a smile. Both my bride and I had the turkey sandwich on sourdough and it was incredible! It comes with chips and I had the tropical ice tea which was amazing! Really like the minimalist approach to the furniture and decorations that is attracting a younger college crowd. They will be opening an event meeting room in November! I am coming back and this shop is a wonderful addition to Placerville. By the way ... Al of the baked goods are made from scratch! I know it's game on! read more

Fantastic espresso drinks. Delicious breakfast burritos. Friendly people. We stopped here every morning we were in town while on vacation.

The coffee was great, and offered in a 'for here' cup which I prefer. Service was friendly and welcoming. However the cinnamon roll was stale and had a funky flavor. The blueberry muffin was also stale on the outer layer, but the inside was soft and tasty. Seating by the big windows on the street side was well lit and a would be a good place for studying, with a few changes. The biggest down side was the music was inappropriate, with several rap songs that included lyrics like "take your pants off" and "you're feeling so sexual" and "you're a slut". Thought I would try this new place on my way through Placerville. I really wanted to love it. Placerville does not have a really good place to get a cup of coffee, unfortunately it still does not. The service was great, the staff is really friendly. It looks great inside, bright and very clean. They have a selection of muffins and some cookies that they make in house and they looked good. The thing that made me give only 3 stars is the latte. For $7, roughly I want a really good latte. Mine was just hot coffee with milk, no foam. Generally you get a layer of foam on top of a latte, nope just hot coffee with lots of milk. It tasted fine nothing special. I'll keep looking for a great cup of coffee in Placerville. read more

I love going to sociology, I usually go about 4-5 times a week either in the folsom or here in placerville. I absolutely love coming here Camille and Tyler are always spot on with the my coffee order and the customer service is always amazing. If you ever need a good coffee or mid day pick me up this is your place. And also the cinnamon rolls are the most delicious cinnamon rolls ever! The whole vibe of the place is amazing and always very clean. 10/10 would recommend!!! read more

Very nice, out-of-the-way coffee spot in old town Folsom. Plenty of parking on the street, as well as a multi-story parking facility a block away. Cozy seating inside, and plenty of tables outside to enjoy during the warmer months. We split a sandwich, which was above average, and the sour dough bread was exceptional. My partner commented their chai drink was great, and my flat white matched that level. All and all, a delightful time. read more

This place was decent, i was excited to come and try this sociology after loving the folsom location but i have a few things that stood out to me. We got a matcha and a latte, both were okay but the matcha was a little bit grainy tasted more on the bitter side. Our barista was very kind he was ready to answer any questions i had and seemed to like working there. After seeing the outside of this place i was excited to see tne inside but was kinda disappointed. I believe the interior has so much potential and can look very good.
