This unassuming little coffee shop and eatery felt like something from the past. Located in Coloma, there is a historical park across the street, a tiny little post office, and a theater house in this quaint little town. We stayed in a cabin on the river and each more walked down to the Argonaut to get coffee and a breakfast sandwich. The staff was super nice, offering delicious coffee and pastries. We would definitely return!

We stopped in for lunch and I ordered a macchiato. It was absolutely delicious. We wanted to gay Myconos Panini, but they were all out the lady before us said it was fantastic. So I ordered the Paris and it is absolutely delicious. The se is fantastic. What a great spot to have lunch.

I've been wanting to come here ever since I saw this place on Instagram. This quaint cafe in the little town of Coloma, California. The food was delicious (I had tuna melt panini) and coffee was even better (I had brown sugar cold brew). Service was pretty fast considering we were a group 5. Staff was pleasant. The place was super cute with dining area in the back and outdoor seating on the porch.

Came here for lunch after hiking in Cronan Ranch. This tiny café is located directly across from the Coloma visitor center. Super long line around 12:30 on a Saturday, which is to be expected. They offer delicious sandwiches, some prepared to-go picnic provisions, great drinks, and baked goods. My Mykonos sandwich and iced matcha latte really hit the spot after a hike. AC in the room in the back was heavenly.

This is an absolutely must try place. It is in a cute and quaint little historic town. The staff was friendly helped my decide what I wanted. We ordered the rise n swine and the Cluck. Both were very good. The rise n swine had a lot of meet and the Cluck had very good flavor. The goldvein cold brew was great! I could have drank another 16oz of it. The inside is pretty small, with limited seating but they have a lot of outdoor seating. It does have an AC unit so it's pretty cold in there and there are a lot of bugs flying around but it wasn't too bad.

Heads up. Prices are whacked. A bagel with cream cheese is $8. An avocado bagel is $17! Very cute building and great ambiance but seems like they are exploiting customers because they are the only place around for coffee and pastries.

Really cute cafe right in the heart of the state park in Coloma. We were there on a Saturday morning and while the park didn't feel that crowded, the cafe was definitely busy. There is lots of seating between the inside, the porches, and the picnic tables in the back by the river, and most of it was shaded, which was great for the hot day. We got our coffees pretty quickly, then they gave us a pager for the food. The food took a while, it doesn't seem like they have a big kitchen so come here with some patience. Our food was good - generous portions on the bagels and the panini. We all took half home to enjoy later. Look forward to coming back again for more coffee and views!

Ya, I'm giving this place 5 stars. I surprised myself too but I was very impressed. This was such a random outting with my kids. My son suggested this place after seeing it on TikTok. I don't have high expectations for this place, aside from it being on the river I was expecting possibly cool views and mid coffee at best. So we drove a little over an hour to get here. We had nothing else to do lol. Warning if you get car sick easily, the drive up is a very winding road but a beautiful drive. We arrived about 11am. This is lunch hour, so they serve their lunch items. They're only open until 3pm. They have a very short, simple menu. Just a couple sandwiches. Honestly I wasn't expecting much. When we arrived it's an extremely old town. The coffee shop was so so small. There is a good amount of seating inside , they designed it pretty well to get as many seats in there. However , it can feel congested and claustrophobic. They have plenty of picnic tables outside that lead up to the river. So many photo ops. Absolutely beautiful. After we ate we went exploring . You can even pan for gold, and some historical buildings to explore inside which was neat. Service was friendly and fast. Turned out to be a beautiful unexpected adventure coming here. Oh! Almost forgot about the coffee and food. So as I mentioned, I thought it would be basic, mid. I was impressed with the coffee flavors, I ordered Cinder & Smoke and the matcha latte. The matcha was well made and you can taste they used good quality matcha, I loved the hint of smokiness without being overly sweet in the Cinder & smoke latte. Also tried out the Coloma Caprese panini. It tasted amazing. Very fresh. I was surprised I enjoyed it that much. So if you're up for a day of adventure, this place is definitely worth visiting.

Love it when they are OPEN!!

Returned to this fabulous place and saw that their CA poppies are in full bloom outside which makes for awesome photo opportunities before having an amazing latte right along the S Fork of the American River. Spring is THE TIME to visit and consider indulging in one of their amazing pastries too! Enjoy your time in Coloma!!

Wow! I randomly came across this place on Instagram and decided to make a trip. Everything was delicious. The absolute best cold brew I have ever had!

Iced Vanilla Latte and Jalapeño Cheddar Bagel with Cream Cheese

The iced vanilla latte and jalapeño cheddar bagel with cream cheese were both amazing! I loved being able to enjoy my coffee and bagel outside while enjoying nice views of the river. Lots of outdoor seating available!

    Ashley C.

Such a peaceful location for a coffee shop right along the river! It was almost an hour drive for us but it was a nice way to start the day. The coffee shop itself is very small but plenty of outdoor seating! I really enjoyed the Cinder and Smoke latte that my husband got! Perfect balance of creamy, sweet, and coffee. I tried out the Obsidian Mocha which the chili honey was just a bit too much for me but I liked the concept! Definitely recommend this spot if you're in the area!

Did I drive an hour and half to a cafe I saw on TikTok and then researched on yelp? I sure did! Located in small town coloma ca argonaut is a small quint cafe right next to a river. Don't ask me what river cause I don't know lol! Giving off a rustic old town vibe this place was clean and cute. We walked in but weren't greeted by the staff which was okay because they were pretty busy as it seems like this is a local favorite! I knocked off one star because as we went up to the cashier I felt the cashier wasn't as helpful or nice. We asked some questions and were just given short response like "everything is good". Yes everything is good but it would have been helpful if maybe some suggestions were pointed out like popular items or local favorite drinks. My friend and I agreed that maybe she was just having a hard day due to being pregnant. Let's talk about the food! For drinks we ordered the obsidian mocha and we thought that this drink had too much of a spice taste but the brow sugar latte was delicious. Let's start with the crème brûlée donut! Oh my gosh this was the most unique tasty dessert ever! The donut had a crunch outside and a soft inside! I believe this was a special item so it's not always served! The New York cake slice was sweet with powder sugar and soft spongy cake and was just as delicious as the donut. These two paired so well with our coffees! The curried chicken croissant was a perfect blend of curry chicken and cranberries! It had the perfect crunch! The breakfast panini rise and swine was crunchy and warm! It comes with pork belly but I substitute it to chicken. Because I substituted the meat I was not expecting much meat but it was stuffed with chicken and that was the best part! There is an outside area with seating as well and a bench by the river to just hang out and enjoy the sunshine and nature. I will point out the parking across from the cafe is $10 but that $10 gives you admission into the gold rush museum! So after your delicious meal walk off the calories by going into the museum!

Yay! Our new favorite lunch place on Main Street!…read more We just stopped by last weekend, we've been wanting to try this place out but it just hadn't happened.... Last Monday we decided to have lunch there, one of our regular places is closed Mondays and this place was open so we checked it out...and we're SO SO glad we did! Atmosphere was nice and server was very friendly from the moment we walked in. First thing I noticed; $5 mimosas!! I asked if they did anything other than orange juice and yes, they had several other options so I had the cranberry version. Delicious! I went with their mac and cheese, my partner got the basic hamburger. Mac and Cheese -- definitely very bacon forward, much more than I prefer. That being said, I still liked it, it also had sour cream and green onion on top. Bacon lovers will LOOOVE this version, there is LOTS of it and every bite you can taste it. Normally I prefer my mac & cheese with no bacon or just a bit here and there, I prefer to taste more of the cheeses.....again, it still tasted good, its a good serving and I ate half and had enough to save for the next day at work. Creamy and well made, again I just prefer to taste more cheese than bacon. I wouldn't order this again but like I said, a bacon lover will LOVE this version. Now, my partner's burger was Incredible. We are PICKY with our burgers, and we both thought this one was fantastic. Big, and great ratio to the bun. He ordered it medium and asked for "a little char" and they made it perfectly. I took a bite and yeah, I'd order that for sure. The fries were great, too. Overall we were super happy with our lunch, I thought it was priced fairly as well. We will definitely be back!!

The pitfalls of the restaurant seem to be entirely the service. Most recently we went to Franny's on Mother's Day. We had reservations and walked in, on time. We were initially sat in a nice booth in the front of the restaurant. It was my wife and I plus our 2 kids, the table size seemed appropriate. After being sat, we sat without talking to a server for 10+ minutes, not even getting waters. Eventually, when someone did come, it was a waitress/hostess telling us that there had been a mix up, and we needed to move. We weren't excited on the idea, as we were happy where we were, but we moved to the back of the restaurant. This time we sat for 15 minutes without being acknowledged by any wait staff. At this point it is 9:25 and we've been seated for 25 minutes without even water. Finally a waitress comes, and takes our drink order, and our food order as we'd definitely had ample time to look over the menu. About 9:50 the food arrives. My wife and kids' food comes and is great. My food comes and looks off, and the waitress tells me that the kitchen accidentally made me a "veggie" scramble instead of the chorizo that I had ordered, but that she'd get me some bacon and all was well. I asked what was in the veggie scramble and was told it has mushrooms, which is a hard pass for me. She told me she could have what I had actually ordered made but it would "take a long time". I said O.K. - what else was I going to do? Finally it comes, and my wife is done eating, and the kids are close, so, I asked for it to be "boxed up". The waitress rolled her eyes and set to the task. I'm not a restaurant snob - but I really expected an apology or something to be "comp'd" due to the rough experience, but nope, full bill and no apology. Regrettably, despite Franny's being a local joint and having good food, we won't be back.

So the $66 dollar Rib Eye over the $51 Prime Rib. But then the steaks came out. The others in our group got perfectly cooked rib eyes that were 40-60% cap. They were cooked perfectly to temp. My steak was much smaller, thicker, and entirely lacked the cap. So it was just a NY Strip. The temperature was way over. I was never asked if the dish was ok. He claimed he came and asked us. Later the manager came and told me he took 20% off the steak. $52 for an overcooked 14 oz NY Steak isn't terrible, but that isn't what I was looking for.
