Not disappointed. Exactly what you'd expect in the best possible way. CASH ONLY! "It's pretty good" says my dad.

Sophia's is a perfect breakfast spot. Small front window, but plenty of room with a nice counter seating and we'll spaced tables.

Great setting and food for a nice breakfast or lunch. Eggs were great. They do not take cards, but have good service and friendly staff.

I apologize in advance, it's a great salad that begins with an "H," potentially called Holtakia?!? Either way it was delicious

3 Star Quality Breakfast diner.... We headed out to Sophia's as a result of the reviews provided on Yelp. We were there around 11AM on a Monday morning where breakfast and lunch was served. Around the time that we sat down, the place was dying down. There were (2) other tables who appeared to be closing their tab & on route to leave and our server was extremely attentive. My boyfriend ordered 3 egg omelete with cheddar cheese and steak tips. As much as he wanted to give this place a 2-star, he, nonetheless, finished and ate everything. He opted out from the hash browns & bread, and that alone filled him up. As a result, our overall score for this place is 3 stars, as we have had better in other diners/breakfast joints in the New England area. I ended up getting a cucumber, tomatoes, red onions, olives, feta cheese salad topped with olive oil & grilled steak tips. Was in the mood for something authentic/Greek... I have to say, the steak tips were so moist & flavorful; I was in awe!! Wishing I knew the recipe as it was soooooo delicious!! I don't know if the owner is Greek but there seems to be Greek influence in the selection and the menu is very long and extensive. I've been to several other breakfast joints and this to me is mediocre. Those who have provided such great reviews on here about Sophia's, I do thank them in advance. You will get good quality and fresh ingredients...however, for what we ordered...it was a little steep for breakfast which included tip our tab totaled $32 and for that I am giving it 3 stars. A little pricey for breakfast/brunch, but we were extremely satisfied. The service was OK. Once you arrive, it does give you that quaint/country style feel. There seems to be only one server working while we were there. If all the tables in the restaurant was taken, I don't believe that one server would be able to handle all the demands. Our server was sweet, however, based on prior experiences in other diners/restaurants serving breakfast, this was mediocre. A little more refine than the "norm...." Overall, this was our first time at Ipswich, so our review may be a little bias as we have not been to any other breakfast place around there. It is a great place to stop in for breakfast/lunch before heading to the beach. I do recommend that you try this place out!

Cute place, breakfast served all day

Great breakfasts and the friendliest service. My family and I love Sofia's for a Sunday morning brunch. I highly recommend the gyros!

The best unfussy, no nonsense breakfast in town. Coffee topped continuously. Solid Denver omelette. No lattes. Cash only.

Terrible. Very very slow. Ran out of everything. I girl was running around and a kid was just counting his money. Food lackluster at best.

Another nice, simple Ipswich eatery. Closest to Sunday morning diner food in town. Not fancy, but tasty.

The food is always excellent, better than the other breakfast places around. I drive a half hour to get here with my kids and it's worth it.

And, well, I won't keep you in suspense but that first bite of the salted honey butter and jam biscuit was transcendental. It was a little crumbly but so chewy and moist, and the jam and honey butter combo was incredible. Indescribable. They have so many pastry options, as well as breakfast sandwiches, but I really had eyes only for the biscuits. Also tried the cheddar scallion biscuit - amazing. I'm running out of adjectives to describe how good these were. The key for super flaky, tender biscuits is using very, very cold butter and not mixing the dough too much. It was cool to watch people baking in the back kitchen. Got the quiche as well. Tasty, with a nice mix of egg and veggies and cheese, with a well-made crust, but next time I would just get more biscuits. Lots of free parking spots in front and nearby. There's little space inside the store, which makes the queue a bit unwieldy, but it does move quickly and it's well worth the wait (and the drive).

The bakery items are the stars of the show, though their gluten free option was one sad small almond cookie. They have brewed coffee, no espresso. They use beans from Portland, ME. The walls are lined with gourmet food products--some local, some not. There is not a lot of space so when there's a queue, it's a mess.

When you walk in, the place is beautiful- sort of modern rustic chic with beautiful string lights. We ordered mussels and wine to start. Mussels were fantastic. Meaty, flavorful and plenty for everyone. The entree is where it fell short for me. I got the shrimp pasta. While the flavor was there, when I cut into the shrimp they still looked pretty translucent to me. After eating one and cutting up a few others, I felt that they were undercooked. The waitress said they wouldn't cook them more but she could bring the plate back and ask if they were cooked through. My plate came back and I was told they were cook so I sat there pushing soft, nasty shrimp around my plate while just eating spaghetti. My boyfriend asked for a medium burger and it was definitely rare to medium rare. When this happens, generally you offer to bring out new protein cooked again or ask if the guest wants something else but I was just left to feel like I was nuts. Whatever, into dessert. Now for dessert, I thought we'd try the cookies and ice cream. cookies were completely raw ( not just soft) and also not hot and the ice cream on the plate looked like it was pre scooped and refrozen. While I loved the concept of this place. Relaxing getaway where you can just do it all onsite, I honestly would spare yourselves the experience of the restaurant or order fish and chips or fried chicken) and just dine in Newburyport.

Although it wasn't busy, we waited quite a while even for beverages. When the waitress eventually took our orders, I asked for a cheese burger club sandwich, medium rare, add onions. My husband got a chicken parm sub. When we finally got our lunches, she served mine with no French fries, which I eventually received a few moments later. The burger on my club sandwich was so overcooked it was like a piece of shoe leather. There were no onions, and the minuscule piece of cheese didn't look or taste like cheese, but reminded me of a piece of curled up parchment paper. My husband's sub was fair but she forgot to bring him the glass of water he'd asked for and he had to keep asking for refills of his iced tea. Overall a dreadful experience when we had been looking forward to a tasty, quick meal. The first time we've ever been there, and also our last.
