I've now taken my mom and husband here and they both loved it. My husband who is a sushi chef really enjoyed the yellowtail jalapeño just like I did. Had to get the calamari again which disappeared in minutes. My mom and I the Alaskan roll which was so good that had spicy tuna and salmon on top. I ordered many more with the hubby and all were delish! I seriously can't wait to come back again and again to try their big selection of sushi rolls! The nigiri was perfect not too much rice and a very nice cut of fish! Hubby got pad Thai which he loved the portion is so big! Decided to try soho after a few yelp reviews stated they had great sushi. I would rate The restaurants cleanliness a 7-10. Customer service was a 10 -10! Our server was extremely attentive and informative. She helped us along the way and even provided my nephew, some training chopsticks. The miso soup was ok but the ginger dressing for the salads was ver very delicious! The lunch plate was very good and the orange chicken spectacular! Went in on a Sunday afternoon after a baseball game (our first time here) and the place was empty so we sat at the bar. The bartender - Kayla H according to our receipt - was friendly at first but provided terrible service. After she took our order she was only focused on her personal phone conversation. She had earbuds in and walked around having a whole conversation while "working". It was not at all a relaxing atmosphere to listen to her loudly having a personal conversation telling a friend what to pack for her visit and to make sure to bring a swimsuit for the beach and if the kid needs things to give her a list so she can go shopping. Our sushi roll sat at the window for far too long and tasted gross like it was a few days old (or like grocery store sushi). She gave it to us and walked away without offering to refill our drinks. When our meals came (which the lunch plates were really great!), she dropped them off then walked away talking on her phone to the other end of the bar. I had to get up and grab our own silverware and napkin rolls since she didn't offer us any. Two other servers who had nothing to do since the place was empty were sitting at the tables nearby and watched me do this as well. Our drinks sat empty the whole time which was a shame, because the environment would have been nice to sit at and relax and have a few more drinks, but not when the bartender is in her own world ignoring you. We left to take our money elsewhere. The actual food (besides the sushi rolls) was really good. The service was just disappointing. Better luck to y'all. read more

I'm sorry but smoking in a restaurant is absolutely disgusting. We walked in and the place smelled like sewage. Also, there was only one server and one bartender and it was quite busy. I can understand that because of the staffing shortage. Our bartender/server was very nice and definitely tried her best. They had really cheap happy hour specials with rolls for only $5.25 and apps for $6.99. I thought the food was pretty decent even though their actual fish selection of sushi was very limited. I had the salmon tower, Miami roll and a miso soup. All were good, not great. I don't think I would come back but it was nice to give it a try. When you have Chef Laura right down the road why would you go anywhere else? read more

It was really good. My main entree was chicken hibachi. The vegetables were undercooked and the chicken was sparse. Quite a disappointment after eating at Soho in Myrtle Beach. Disclaimer: I will say that the server was kind and that none of what I have to say below is a reflection of her service. Soho? I think they got the letters wrong. More like Shoo! Or, better yet, Oosh. Oosh is the sound you'll make when you bite into the fried oysters or the Miami roll. It is a sound akin to Ugh or Eek or Blah. It is half-retch, half oh-shit. The oysters come out of a can, which means that they taste like salty hocked loogeys. I used to joke that you could put tempura on anything and fry it and make it tasty. Well, Oosh proved me wrong. If you fry canned oysters in tempura, they taste like fried salty hocked loogeys. The Miami roll was a bland and lame attempt to hide the not-so-fresh (close-to-spoiled?) tuna. I've had better rolls at a gas station in East Memphis. I kid you not. One person in my party tried to wash this all down with a margarita, but the margarita looked and tasted more like a urine sample at LabCorp. So she ordered a vodka soda and received a syrupy vodka tonic. Oosh. In some ways, I get it. This is a hibachi place masquerading as Grand Strand posh. I usually just do takeout and I probably won't be back inside to sit down again. The waitress we had was very sassy and seemed just lazy. He seems like a pretty nice guy, but he can't ever seem to spare my table of whatever 'charm' he seems to believe he possesses... Comes off very creepy and a little annoying. The guy belongs in an IHOP, not a sushi place. Tentative three stars in hopes that this guy will chill out or something. Update: have to drop from 3 stars to 1 star. This place is in a steady decline. Last time I went the vegetables were completely tasteless, there was an audible argument in the kitchen because of an understaffing issue, there were ANTS in the booth, and the freaky waiter (Bill is his name) was in creepy overdrive mode. It smells like smoke when you walk in because half of the restaurant is a bar. The smoke issue is really disappointing because being smoke free may take this place to the next level. They do have outdoor seating but it overlooks busy hwy 544. Overall food is good, but ambiance does not match the prices. read more

I love this place. Excellent happy hour prices. Kate is an excellent manager/bartender; if you meet her, you'll immediately fall in love. Jordan is super behind the bar. Overall, good service, excellent food. Some recommendations: - Sushi is half price on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sunday - SoHo Chicken is unique and amazing! - Any lo mein or hibachi dish will fill you up with plenty to take home - The Thai chicken fingers are the perfect appetizer, sure to please 1 star off because they don't have the NFL Sunday Ticket, even on the sports bar side. But, if you're a smoker, you can sit on a separated sports bar side that allows smoking. If you don't want that around, sit on the main side in a smoke free environment. Win win for everyone! Was looking for a place to stop for lunch and ran across a strip that looked promising. Pulled off as we drove by and Mexican or sushi became what we had to decide on. We went sushi. The lunch menu was very reasonably priced and the food was great. I wish a place like this was close to where I work. No issues with service and great food. Let's start with my waitress... from the beginning I can tell she did not want to serve simply because I was a black female in a sweatshirt and black cap. The look on her face while servicing me honestly said it all. Today it is storming outside and I thought enjoying a nice meal after a long day would help. It did not. She barley gave me time to choose my entrees or drinks. She handed the drink menu and less than 2 minutes ask me what I wanted to drink. I quickly chose something then proceed to look at the happy hour menu. The selection was great but I wish I could say the same about the quality of the food. The entire time I was being starred at by the staff and my waitress. Which I find ridiculous if I am a paying customer they should not care how I look. This was my first time there and sadly my very last time. I always go to the location the beach but now I see why everyone prefers that location over the highway 544 location. While eating she check on other guest but did not check on me. Did not even ask me if I wanted a cup of water but everyone around me had a cup of water. Due to privacy I did not take picture of the other guests table. It's discerning to me that I can't even enjoy a authentic Japanese meal without my waitress being racist.but I'm not even half done ... Then after eating and her not checking on me she instantly hands me the check. To be clear I never asked her for the check. She just assumed that I wanted the check. Then proceeds to hand me a to go cup knowing I have a liquor beverage. If I didn't know any better I would've taken a Togo cup filled with liquor and they could've easy called Horry county police saying I had that in my car. After minutes of staff intimidating me to leave the established I went to the bar and checked out. Then she insisted to swipe my card to check out after knowing she wasn't a good waitress. While checking out another waitress begins to laugh at the fact that I did not want Madlynn my waitress to swipe my card after providing such horrendous service. We're locals and we've eaten here 6 or 7 times prior. Maybe not the world's greatest, but good enough and no complaints. After last night, I will never set foot in the place again. I'm not going to go through a blow by blow of the comedy of errors that took place, suffice it to say that these words apply: delay, double delay, more delay, horrible communication, ignorance of the restaurant's own terms & condtitions, missing table setting items, lying, broken promises, smart-assedness, argumentativeness. And it wasn't just one person responsible. Others were involved, including the bartender who claimed that he was the manager too. I'm 69 years old. Decided to have a drink and sushi after work. Arrived at 6:40, just in time for a happy hour purchase. I sat at a table at the bar, which was only half full, if that much. I did notice the normal bartender was not there, but didn't think anything of it. 20 minutes for someone to to come to my table. When he did, the guy at the table next to me asked if he was going to get his drink anytime soon since he ordered it 10 minutes prior. I still thought I would give it a shot and ordered a simple glass of wine. It took 30 minutes for my drink, which was brought by the manager AFTER another table complained about the 20 minute wait for a beer. Food came out timely. The waiter was horrible. The manager basically took over my table. He walked around with his head up his ass throwing out nonchalant apologies for the wait for the drinks. As a waiter, your lack of insisting that you get the drinks for your table ASAP is a reflection on your poor service. To add insult to injury, I was given $1 discount by the manager. ONE FREAKING DOLLAR!!! Seriously??? Thankfully the waiter eventually removed one of my glasses of wine from the bill....the one I waited over 30 minutes for! The bartender was absolutely the worse I have ever experienced. Coming from someone who has tended bar and worked in a range from tiki pool bar to restaurants to nightclubs- HORRIBLE!!! Stopped in for dinner with some friends last night. The place is quite large and cut up in sections with a bar on one side , another room with tables and a main dining room. We sat at the main dining room around 7:00PM the place was empty. There was a good, live piano player tickling the ivories and singing. We sat down and reviewed the menu which ranges from sushi, Thai, steaks, chicken and seafood. I usually find places that offer too many disparate selections marginal at best and this was no exception. We ordered some drinks which were good and a few appetizers. Filet mignon strips that you cook yourself on a stone that is heated from underneath. It was kinda fun and the beef was tender. The spring rolls were small, soggy and lacked flavor. The Thai chili sauce tasted store bought(I'm thinking Sysco?), there was also a crab appetizer which I didn't partake in and was not considered good by the person who ordered it. I ordered sushi and sashimi which was a bit confusing because the menu says that you have to get two pieces of sashimi so I ordered 2 and ended up with 4 pieces, I didn't complain because our waiter, while nice, seemed confused during the entire experience(there was a drink mixup earlier). Needless to say I had way too much sashimi. The quality of the fish was mediocre and tasted more like what you would get at a supermarket or an all you can eat place. One of the other diners ordered a Greek salad which he wanted with balsamic vinegar instead of the Greek vinaigrette which turned out to be too confusing to the waiter as he ended up with a balsamic vinaigrette. Either way, the salad wasn't fresh and lacked flavor. He left most of it. Our other companion had the soho chicken which he claimed to enjoy even though he brought most of it home. We got out of there around 9:00 and there were maybe two people at the bar(this was a Friday night). The most action was when a group of girls walked in the door as we were about to leave but turned around and walked right out. I gave it 1 star because of the piano player.
