Take my advice and go to Le Soleil a few doors down. The owner/manager of soho nails is very rude if you have any question or if you have a critique of any kind. I saw her have a full on argument with a customer who came back with chipped nails after her manicure, total lack of professionalism and customer service. I went back several months later to give them another chance and was equally disappointed. Place also doesn't feel very clean inside, there are so many nicer and better salons, if this place was significantly cheaper (which it is not) I still wouldn't go. read more

I liked this place but had no idea that there's a huge staircase to climb. No way to have known that in advance. The Staff was very pleasant but the vibe isn't warm. And, never get used to paying over $18 for regular (non-gel) manicure. I've since found another Nail Salon I'm pleased with on W14th, they charge $16 and I don't have to climb any stairs since they're street level. I went here on Friday morning for a Gel manicure and by Saturday morning 2 nails had already chipped. While getting my nails done I had to ask her to take the nail polish off my actual fingers. It was so messy and she cut my nails so short my nails still hurt a week later. Don't come here. There are plenty of other great places in the city. read more

Where to start? I was in the area yesterday when it occurred to me I could use a pedicure. A couple businesses popped up when I did a location search. I visited one salon and there was no availability as a walk in. Enter Soho Nails--3 flights up (steep steps) on West Broadway. What's good.... People/staff were nice Reasonable prices Some sanitary practices were in place End result of pedicure was above satisfactory ( I liked the even nails and turtle green nail color) What's not so good.... The appearance and set up of the entire space. The floors were peeling. The decor was awful. A black leather? sofa was off to the side resembling something you'd find in a landfill. Overall, if my pedicure was done with my wearing a blindfold, I would have been better off. Granted, I could have backed out, but this place was hopping! Didn't anyone else care? I like ambience and an atmosphere that comforts me to feeling a business is clean, sanitary and impeccable. For the not so good description I outlined---I will not return. One of the best nail salons downtown happens to be up 3 floors on West Broadway. Friendly, precise and always willing to take walk ins and last minute appointments. Interior is no frills but feels very New York and is clean. There are a ton of press clippings on the walls so you know it's good. (Also fun to look at while getting your mani!) I went to Soho Nails Broadway earlier this week while traveling. The salon came recommended, but unfortunately I contracted a staph bacterial infection on both feet hours after my service. I asked the technician, Sunny, if the tools were clean + sanitized, as a first time customer. She said yes and proceeded with the service. The tools were already open at the start of my service, which was another reason I asked if they were sanitized. Typically, I see the tools removed from a sanitization pack. I called the location to notify of this infection, but I have not heard back. I share here to caution others as this is a very serious bacterial infection and can be dangerous. I know have to take an antibiotic both topical + oral for a week. In my 20 years of getting pedicures, I have never experienced this very dangerous outcome. I was a loyal customer at Soho Nails for 25 years. Earlier this year the ownership changed. This meant ala change to how business is conducted at the salon. Rushed appointments, a price increase and the staff seams miserable. Carol, the new owner, has never taken the time to get to know the long time regular customers of Soho Nails and there are/were many of us. The last straw for me was the firing of the long time manicurist/pedicurist, Lucy. Lucy was such an asset to Soho Nails. Friendly, helpful, great at what she did and offering assistance to all who asked. Lucy is now at Chameleon Spa on First Ave and 16th street. I'll miss this place. It was a lovely respite from the crazy world outside. I wish Alex, Norma, Sunny and Paula better. Carol, talk to your staff and customers and listen to what they have to say. read more

I want to start by saying, I never ever write reviews. But this particular place was so bad, that I needed to warn everyone. I went to this particular nail salon because it was near my job and I need a fill in a pinch for an event I was going to. I had a little trouble finding it, but eventually made it. The entire process was fine. I don't recall the tech's name, however she was an older woman who took close to an hour and a half to do my fill. I didn't rush her, because I expected that at least it would look good. I was in a rush to get back to work, so when I saw a few problems, I said I could live with it and just wouldn't go back. It was also fairly expensive for the quality of work. I got my nails done at 1:30 pm. I arrived at my event at 9 pm, poured myself a drink and someone asked "what happened to your nail?" My nail, to my horror, had broken less than 12 hours after having been done. The next day as I inspected my nails, I saw, again to my horror, that they were terrible. Uneven, the polish didn't have enough coats, the nail shapes were all different, etc. Now, less than week later 3 additional nails have broken, or just fallen off in its entirety. $61 dollars, not including tip, for a terrible fill. Do not come here. You will be disappointed read more

Soho nails has been a fixture on West Broadway for over 25 years. I have been a "regular' repeat customer for 20 years. Recently, the establishment changed ownership. What was once a really cool, low key, relaxed professional mani/pedi experience, has changed with the new owner. She has the technicians on a strict 30 minute in and out manicure. I arrived at 12:55 for a 1:00 mani. My technician was still performing a service. I asked the "new owner" what time her next appt was scheduled,, and was told 1:30. Which meant, by the time she got to me, it would be a rushed service. Sorry, I don't appreciate being rushed. I asked to change my appts. The new owner became agitate, aggressive, and forth right towards me. I asked for my money back. I gave my home number to the technician, and will never be back again. I have been in the service arena for many years, nobody deserves to be treated like a piece of meat on a conveyor belt. Shame Shame Shame. This is New York City. Nails salons are on every corner. I went here to get waxed because the prices seemed affordable, let me tell you quality is not. The lady waxing me, Joy, missed several parts of my arm when waxing and I had to retell her. Also, apparently full arm doesn't include up until your shoulder? Which was very strange to me. I signed up for full legs with Brazilian. I haven't even looked at my legs because I know i'll be disappointed. In terms of the Brazilian, will waxing my legs she made me take off my undergarments, and I don't know why because she wasn't even working in that area. The Brazilian itself was horrible. She didn't get all the hair, and didn't even reattempt to get them off. Missed even the simple hairs in the bikini lines. Total Disappointment. read more

Nope! I got a fill-in (they used dip powder)... If you need a fill-in DO NOT come here, just abort mission, and if you're desperate, order some stuff off Amazon and do it yourself. This place might be okay for pedicures and gel manicures which is what the other people were getting....that alone should have been a sign sigh. The most remarkable thing about this experience was that they don't have any drills... not the portable ones, not the old school ones, none at all... which means that the nail tech did a whole fill in with one nail file... ONE! Surely they have money to purchase just one they can share off Amazon for $20??! Sigh, as soon as I realized they didn't have a drill I should have snatched my hand out of hers, and ran out of there. While part of me wants to find the positive and say that I should be impressed, nah, they should be embarrassed. How about just not offering the service... that would have been better. Because she used only a nail file of course the nails are thick, and it's not a smooth transition from the natural nail bed over the line of where the dip powder starts. Ugh. It was $37 (be careful because she tried to initially charge me $47 "on accident") I paid cash I gave her a tip out of politeness, but if anything they should have paid me for taking part in their nail experiment. The paint job was decent, considering, and the front desk was nice, they seem to have a lot of repeat customers. It's definitely the cheaper option in the area. I may come back out of convenience for gel manicure. Note: It's on the third floor of a walk-up so if you are injured or have limited mobility skip this place, no elevator is available. I have Been a loyal customer of soho nails for more than 30 years. I loved the warmth and great customer service offered by the old owner and staff. Especially my one and only Lucy Cruz my long time pedicurist which was the store top earner and preferred pedicurist of a long list of long time steady customers like myself. Since last year change in ownership things changed dramatically. The new owner is not as friendly and more over did not treated her staff with the respect and kindness anyone deserves in all situations in life. Lucy was suddenly let go without rightful cause. On my last appointment booked with Lucy by the end of August, before leaving the country for a family emergency, I was lied and told that lucy wasn't there that day. I have always had issues with ingrown nails and no one but Lucy has never been able to do such an incredible pain free removal job of the ingrown nails and provide me with long lasting pain free pedicure. Lucy is truly talented and is an amazing lady I'm proud to call a friend as well. The last pedicure at soho nails performed by another lady was too invasive and caused a serious infection on both my toes which with traveling got worst and caused me to take antibiotics and had to get to an emergency room treatment to purge the pus filled pockets around the wounded area. I'm am so happy that upon my return to the city my dear friend and one of a kind preferred Pedicurist has found new employment and is now at Chameleon Nails on 1st Avenue between 15 and 16 streets. I've gotten acrylics done by them and the gel pedicure, they pay close attention to detail and give it the time it deserves. The prices are reasonable, regular pedi for $22. French gel manicure is $35. The girls are all very nice, I've had some technicians that are better than others but overall each time has been a decent job. I did have a problem with my French gel chipping quickly last time and that caused a few of my nails to break, they said they would fix the chip for free but since my nail broke they have to use the silk wraps which are $6 per nail, and one of those ended up chipping the next day, so that was a little disappointing. I got them redone completely yesterday so hopefully it holds up better this time. I got powder dip nails a few months back and those lifted quickly as well, so I wouldn't recommend those. However regular gel has lasted me a good amount of time and the pedicures always last long. Keep in mind that sometimes it can get crowded so there may be a wait, it's probably best to call ahead. Also be aware, cash tips only, but they do have an ATM with a $1 fee located in the salon. read more

And my nail tech was always Lucy.. it was devastating to learn Susan sold her shop to new owner Carol.. this was a big downgrade... the prices was sky rocketed and there is no professionalism or courtesy at this salon.. and then to learn my nail tech Lucy is fired, who has been there since the opening and has a long list of satisfied loyal clientele. And to also learn the owner is so disrespectful to her employees and demeans them, and often comes off as a racist. I no longer go here. I wanted to like this place but unfortunately, it's not the top nail salon around NYC. I came in for a regular manicure with my friend on a Saturday afternoon and was greeted by the host once I walked in. I was appointed a lady to prep me for my pedicure which went completely fine until she started painting my nails and I realized how thinned out the colors were that it barely left colors on the first coat. I had to ask her to paint 4-5 coats before the colors were opaque.. which was quite disappointing. This has never been an issue with other salons but I totally understand it's not exactly the control of the manicurist but rather the quality of their polish. I had the same issue with the polish for my manicure and had to have the technician paint 4-5 coats before the color was substantial to my satisfaction. I also felt like the technician wasn't the best because my nails weren't filed straight but she was glad to fix it when I asked. Overall, while I appreciate the hard work of the technicians, I will not be returning to this salon because my nails did not last more than a couple days. In other salons, I went at least two weeks before my nails started chipping through wear and tear (and these are regular, not gel manicures!) There are many salons in the city where you can get a better bang for your buck. read more

Looked down at my hands in a drugstore and went "oh my god I need saving" and I went on yelp, typed in nail salon, I was an 11 minute walk from SoHo nails. I called, asked if they could take me, I knew the time was late. They said yes! I came, they were lovely, everyone was talking to me and I had so much fun. Scheduled a follow up for next month! She rang a bell and door opens...we trekked up a long staircase and I am thinking I would never have known about this place if it wasn't for A. We trekked up the 3 flights and were automatically greeted by the Asian owner. Us, four all got manis ($7 buckeroos) but I paid 5 dollar extra because I am not down for polish on my fingernails and I preferred my nails getting buffed. I usually only go to my lady in Union Square but hey it's Ladies' Night, so why not go with the flow. But I didn't trust this lady, I didn't think she had the skills like my regular spot. Not to mention this place looks sketchy from the get-go. The whole entire time, I am thinking I hope I don't catch anything and they better have sanitize everything here. My lady cut my cuticles a little bit too much, so I ended up getting a boo boo on my pinkie. My friends' were escorted to the back for their nails to dry. But when my lady finished with me, I just saw them chilling on the long bench in the back. Ummm, okay - I know GHETTO and this is ghetto. No, nail drying machine available at all except two long benches for you to sit and wait patiently for your nails to dry on it's own. Okay, if I didn't come here with a group - I would have been mad bored but then again, I got my nails buffed sans polished. To make matters worse....ughhhhh they still use AEROSOL quick drying spray.
