I went yesterday 07/07/26 at around 6-7 pm and it was our first time there and the Girl who made my bowl gave me so much attitude & then I asked her for some of the House Sauce on the side and she just said there's soy sauce packets there. I used to work at a Poke restaurant myself I know there is a difference between the House and Soy Sauce. We ordered a couple other things and she just left to the back and the guy handled the rest of our order and he was GREAT, very kind! The scoops were incredibly small, so even though it was three scoops it really felt like two regular scoops. The rest of their topping options were standard and plentiful. I thought that the fish was just average in terms of freshness, and the portion was not filling for me at all. I usually leave poke shops really full with a regular bowl! The shop is clean and quiet with a lot of seating for a poke shop. We were helped promptly upon entering. Before heading to check out the new Costco in the area, we stopped at Bayside Poke for lunch. I'm glad we did as we really enjoyed eating here. This is a nice small restaurant with ample seating and two people working the line. We were served immediately and with quite a selection of greens, meats and toppings. I'm not a huge Poke eater, but my bowl was really good. You can tell everything is fresh and high-quality. There are two sizes for bowls; I of course went for the large. In addition to the food being really good, the restaurant being clean, the pricing was excellent. It was about $40 for two bowls, one of which was large and one of which had avocado added (extra charge). That's not bad! I also peeked at the menu and their sushi pricing was very reasonable. The people here are nice, and I hate to leave a bad review, but things could be better. The food prep area where the bowls are prepared seem a bit messy, with ingredients scattered over the counter. The food tasted okay, but there's better. Some of the salmon is tough, and I can't tell if it's fresh or not. The day I went, the woman who served me had a dirty cap. I really liked this place and have been going on and off since they opened but I have been twice in the last week and 1/2 The first time I went. I felt that the fish was not as fresh and tasted it a little off. I ate it no issues thinking it was just me. The following Thursday I went again. I shared a bowel with my elderly parents. Again the fish tasted off. Within the next 3 hours both my elderly parents started throwing up. I thought they were just sick as I thought we all eat the same food and I am fine. 6 hrs later I started throwing up and we all had diahrea. We were fine the end of the next day after taking medication. I have not reached out to mgt as their no use or reason. I don't want them to "make it right" as it's already too late. There was a short delay in service when I ordered through GrubHub for pickup, but when I let them know kindly what my order was they got started on it immediately. They were very patient and kind. The restaurant is beautiful and clean inside. They had recently opened for lunch so it wasn't busy yet. My sushi bowl was DELICIOUS! When I asked why, the employee mumbled something I couldn't hear. I asked him to speak up--he didn't. I brought it up to the owner, expecting some kind of explanation or apology. Instead, he shrugged it off and said, "It's made--do you want it or not?" I left feeling disrespected and completely dismissed. I've only had Poke in Hawaii and always pass on it, we are going to put it on a more regular rotation after trying Bayside Poke. My stereotype is "grocery store" poke bowls where the fish is sliced super thin, covered in sauce, and it appears abundant in the sealed container but once you get home you find 90% rice. This is not the case at Bayside. It's right next to my kids kung fu class and decided to try it for dinner one day. We make something like it at home so I went for the custom option and got: tuna, salmon, shrimp, egg, fish eggs, cucumber, and artificial crab meat. It was beautifully garnished with a seaweed and sesame seed furikake. I really enjoyed the quality of rice, it's much better than the fused together and overcooked grocery store rice bowls and I loved how proportionate the toppings were to the rice, you can get a lot of the toppings in every spoon/chopstick-ful. A testament to the taste and quality, my kids totally destroyed it and asked for more, if it didn't taste good we would have had to force them to eat it. read more

Menu is relatively straightforward but with all the toppings it can be a bit hard to know what you really want. Decided to go for the Bayside Bowl and they can swap out a couple of toppings for others without extra charge. For example I switched green onions for fried onions and cucumbers for edamame. Also didn't want wasabi unagi sauce and got spicy mayo instead. Seems like their spicy mayo is more spicy than most places. Gave them 4 stars since a few pieces of my tuna were chewy. Bayside Poke is located in the Cedar Springs plaza. There is plenty of parking in this plaza. For a poke spot, they have a good amount of sushi choices, which could be a good or bad thing. Not much service, the employees working were not as that familiar with their menu, as they should be, so it was a bit hard to get my questions answered. I ordered their Sake Maki and Salmon Nigiri, and it was not that expensive - about $10. I guess this is what they mean you get what you pay for because the quality was very poor. I felt a bit sick shortly after eating this. So sad I didn't stick with my go to the other day for Poke. This was a huge disappointment. Karma got me for cheating on my regular spot. The good...the fish was fresh! The rest...not that great. I was impressed with the pricing but when the bowl arrived I could see why it was less expensive than my regular spot. The bowl was a lot smaller and they really didn't pack it with the toppings, fish, and base. I can make two solid meals out of the order I do at my regular spot. I felt the fish options were a little lacking but it wasn't a big deal since they had options I am happy to have. However, the fish was room temperature when it arrived. I like the fish in my poke bowl to be cold. So that was off putting. I was thankful to realize that the fish was most likely that temperature due to the fact the brown rice was warm. The fish did taste really fresh. There was a lot of fat on the tuna, which I wasn't a fan of. I like a nice clean cut like I receive from my regular spot. Also, the amount of fish they give you isn't much. As for the toppings they don't really give you a lot. I am used to receiving a bowl that is jam packed full of fish, toppings, and rice. That wasn't the case here. There was barely any base and the toppings were sparse. The one thing they were very generous with was the avocado, which was nice. Also, they didn't put the sauces on that I picked and the drizzle over the top was just a splash on top of my avocado. So it was SUPER DRY. Thankfully I had soy sauce at work so I was able to use that to make the rice less bland and dry. I'm sorry to say that I was completely unimpressed and felt misled by the Yelp Universe. I didn't eat much of it because it just didn't do anything for me. I won't be back. I will stick to my regular spot. read more

I have to shout out to their emphasis on customer service: I actually had an issue where I was charged for an order that was cancelled, and Jack was very helpful and accommodating when I emailed him for assistance. At first glance, Bayside seemed a bit on the pricey side, but you really get bang for your buck. I got the small bowl (2 scoops salmon, 1 scoop yellowtail) which came out to around $17, but they really pile on the fish and the toppings to the point where I was more than full after finishing my bowl. The fish is excellent quality--buttery and soft without any lingering fishiness. I was worried that the poke wouldn't be very good after the 20 minute drive home, but it held up very well. They're also the only poke place I've been to so far that offers both wasabi mayo and hot cheetos which deserves extra kudos. If I lived nearby I would certainly be a regular patron. Will definitely come back if I'm ever in the area! read more

Some of the best yellowtail that I've had at a poke place. The salmon and tuna were pretty average. I felt like the rice ratio was a little high compared to the fish ratio based on other places that I've been to as well. Additionally, the onions here are diced not sliced, which felt overpowering for the bowl. They have a large topping selection which were all included minus avocado (which was $1 extra). To be honest, I've never been much of a poké man. I was a super late bloomer, and pretty much only discovered it about a year into the pandemic. That being said, ever since, I've been hooked, and have kept it in my steady rotation. My two favorite go-to spots have always been Hawaiian Poké in San Leandro and Poké Koma in Alameda. However, thanks to a birthday "buy one get one free" promotion through FiveStars at this place called Bayside Poké in Newark, I decided to give them a try. And wow, am I glad I did! Dare I say it, but Bayside just might have instantly solidified itself firmly at the top of my list! Ingredients are fresh, service is quick and polite, and prices are reasonable. And of course, their promotions can't be beat! This is basically the only full fledged restaurant that treated me to a free birthday meal (all other deals were from boba shops). They also make things a bit easier by having specialty suggestions, instead of having you choose everything yourself. The storefront is slightly hidden (look past the 7-11), and parking can sometimes be difficult during prime hours, but overall, the location isn't too shabby. There is a Gong Cha right down the block to help wash down that remaining yellowtail and ahi tuna. Besides that, there is also a plethora of other boba and dessert shops within a one mile radius in either direction. In closing, I must thank the amazing FiveStars app, as I would never have discovered this amazing gem otherwise. I most definitely will be back for more in the foreseeable future! There's so many to choose from including crab salad and hot cheeto dust! While the bowl seemed large, honestly I wasn't full after eating it. It had pretty good reviews and was on the way home so I decided to give it a shot. Upon walking in I was greeted by a nice young fellow who helped me with my order. I did the build your own bowl regular size which is three scoops of protein. I usually get all ahi tuna, but when I saw they had eel I was so excited. This was the first place that i've been to that serves eel as one of their protein choices. So I did one scoop of eel, and two ahi tuna. They were very decent sized scoops too. Some places skimp out. Then for the toppings they had all the usual toppings you'd see at a poke place. I got my usual, cucumber, onions, masago, mango, seaweed salad, and they throw on some crab salad on there for free. I forgot what I put for sauces, I know for sure I had unagi and spicy mayo, and I believe I had the house sauce too. I was very happy with my meal, nothing was left. Everything was fresh, and lot's of flavor. Was very happy with the eel. I thought my total was going to come out to way more because of the eel, but nope.
