Looking for a sushi place to eat during lent on a Friday is not the business. After striking out on my three go to places for sushi this evening, I decided to give this place a try. They had the shortest line out of all the places I went to. Mioki is a small restaurant in a little plaza. Very limited seating and the waiting area is small. There were families ahead of me therefore I put my name on the list and waited till I was seated. Once I got seated I ordered the salmon teriyaki dinner, a salmon skin roll, and hot tea. They did throw in a green bean tempura appetizer and a slice of pineapple for dessert which was on the house. Both were good. Moving onto the food. The salmon skin roll was great. Just the right amount of salmon skin and rice. The salmon dinner was good, flavorful and tasty, which came with two big pieces of fish and rice. It also came on a hot sizzling plate when served. The only downside that I would say is the salmon to rice ratio didn't make sense to me. The cup of rice was an extremely small portion for the salmon that was served. Anyhow, Will definitely go back to this place. The only two reasons why I am docking a star was cause of the rice ratio for the salmon dinner and also the waiting time. When I got there the sushi bar had two people there. After waiting for 25 minutes for only 1 person and to get sat at the sushi bar did not make sense to me. read more

We've been here a handful of times and the food is okay for the most part. We mostly come here for the udon. The last three visits just were not good experiences for us, and it's literally all because of their sriracha! Back in June I placed a to-go order that was quite large. We had like 8 rolls maybe and they didn't provide sriracha for it, she said it's 50 cents per little container. I had 6 people I was trying to feed with barely enough sriracha for one person. We went again last month and got three rolls and a bowl of udon. My husband likes really spicy food so he always asks for sriracha on the side, one for him and one for me. They bring out the smallest amount and when he asked for a bit more the server made a comment about to him about how he better eat it all in a rude tone. She wasn't saying it in a humorous way, she was genuinely peeved we asked for more. Idk why they ration sriracha so much. We go again yesterday because I like their udon but it's definitely the last time lol. To start off, the server and the owner are literally arguing right there in the middle. Raised voices and everything, it was awkward. She would resume serving all the tables in between and then they'd go back to their arguing, she was clearly very frustrated. The owner left and some other man that I assume is possibly in management was sitting eating and she's also in a heated conversation with him. It's very loud and uncomfortable for everyone in there. We placed our order and asked for two sides of sriracha - one for my husband and one for me. We got three rolls and a large udon. When my husbands sriracha was done within his first roll, he asked for more and the server points to my half empty sriracha and tells him to use that. It was kind of rude lol - like girl it's SRIRACHA not gold??? They give maybe 2 teaspoons in the dish they bring out. Most sushi spots typically have the whole bottle for you right there! It sounds ridiculous but literally their whole thing with sriracha is why we don't want to go back. After my most recent visit to Mioki, I have to downgrade my rating. While prices remain reasonable and fish cuts are thick, the fish was not fresh at all and I was pretty disappointed with the quality. I had the 9pc nigiri set where the fish smelled fishy and was watery/mushy. Not sure if the quality has gone down overall or if it was just a bad night to come for dinner.... read more

I had quit patronizing Mioki throughout Covid, as I took issue with how they did business during that timeframe. That said, I took my kids here today, to give it another shot. Both the quality & quantity of the sushi is still good. The special today; Sake Don was off the hook. They even brought out a few small items "on the house" for my little kids to try. Now that things are back to business as usual, we will keep Mioki on our go-to list. Quality food & the service is great. We (Pal, Sisa, Auntie Selvy, DJ, Mom and me) were driving back to Fremont from Salinas and Sisa told us that she was looking online for Japanese restaurants because she was craving sushi. The final decision was to go to Mioki. Located in the Walgreens Plaza on Decoto Road, we easily found a parking space just steps from the front entrance. I was instructed to go inside, peruse the menu, and come back to the car to let everyone else know if I thought that Mioki was a good place to have dinner. Upon entry, I was immediately greeted by a friendly server who gave me a couple of to go menus to give to the family out in the car while I sat at a table and also checked out the menu. It took only about a couple of minutes to give the green light to come inside for dinner to everyone in the car. This was shortly after 8 PM. There were not many tables occupied, so we were seated without delay. We came in at a good time - the dining room quickly filled up shortly afterwards. The venue, made up of a single dining room with a tiny sushi bar at on corner, was fairly clean on the evening of our visit. The hallway to the restroom, though, serves as a storage area with stacked boxes of supplies against the wall. Initially, I was afraid to enter the bathroom because the floor outside of it and leading to the back door was pretty dirty with accumulated black dirt along the bottoms of both door frames. To my pleasant surprise, the lavatory was clean and looked remodeled. Both times that I went in there, the toilet seat was up. The second time, I used it after one of the sushi guys who was the culprit for leaving the toilet seat up. At least I could hear that he washed his hands. Below are what we had for dinner: All Green Beans Tempura ($9.95) - Upon seating, we were given two orders of these fresh, piping hot and crispy tempura green beans...on the house. They were delish. Beef Sukiyaki ($18.95) - This was Mom's order. She was very happy that she tried this dish here. She appreciated that the broth was super hot. She did think that the the salad was drowning in dressing, though. Pal, Sisa, and DJ ordered rolls for their dinners; Rainbow Roll ($15.95), Disco Roll ($15.95), Rock & Roll Roll ($8.95), and Double Rainbow (17.95), all of which came in large pieces. DJ especially enjoyed the Double Rainbow - he had never seen a Rainbow Roll with the raw fish on top and inside the roll before, so he had to get it. Auntie Selvy and I ordered the Deluxe Bento; Salmon for her and Beef for me ($24.95 each) - I asked to substitute the sashimi with a California Roll for my Bento and my request was happily granted. The lack of cucumber in it was a bit disappointing, though. Our waitress assured me that the beef was absent of fat. Thankfully, yes, it was lean. The Bentos are big meals, even large enough to share between two persons. We did need to ask for the gyoza sauce, though. Salmon Kama ($10.95) - Two complimentary plates of this Kitchen Appetizer were also served to us. We were blown away by the generous freebies. Heads up if you order this - there are LOTS of fish bones! Perhaps Mioki doesn't offer any desserts to order as we were not asked if we wanted to see a menu for sweets. As we finished our meals, we were served two plates of pineapple, free of charge. We had a very enjoyable dinner. Service was very friendly & generous and the food was good and big in portions. MIOKI SUSHI left a great first impression on everyone. We will definitely be back! If I lived nearby, I would mos def go during the weekdays to take advantage of the $1.99 LARGE HOT SAKE!! read more

Great bang for your bucks here! Came here solely for their deluxe sushi set ($45 per person). It came with the typical salad and miso soup, BUT the best part is UNI was also included! No bitter aftertaste so huge plus. Can't say everything here is the best quality... I can say they are generous here though. We received a couple of additional items which added to the experience. My second time trying Mioki Sushi, I got the tempura vegetables alongside the tempura veggie udon soup which was subtle. The tempura itself was wonderfully crisp and the sauces complemented the dish beautifully. We also tried the beef sukiyaki prepared with a touch of spice to suit our taste and it was delicious. The ingredients felt incredibly fresh and the generous portions made it well worth the price. Tiffany, who greeted us at the front was exceptionally graceful and attentive adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. Mioki Sushi is my all time favorite Sushi restaurant. Anytime my husband & I are visiting Fremont we try to make a stop here. Say it with me yall the DYNAMITE roll is exactly that! Between the Dynamite roll, the fried green beans & the complimentary Pineapple slice at the end of your meal, it's a beautiful trifecta that keeps us loyal to this place. The service has always been great even on nights when they are super busy. It's not huge inside but it doesn't feel overwhelmingly crowded. I hope nothing but the best for the business. This restaurant is literally a hole in the wall of a small strip mall. My wife and I shopped in the area many times and never thought to come into the sushi restaurant. BEWARE The sushi chefs still add random ingredients to the rolls. I try them every few months and the same thing keeps happening: I order a few rolls and they add random ingredients that I don't want. If this has happened to you, please call them to let them know, or reach out to the food app you use to let them know. Maybe Mioki needs to add "Chef's Choice" to every item on the menu, or put an asterisk that says "we will change the ingredients randomly without notice." Came here on a Saturday night. Restaurant was crowded, but only waited about 10-15 minutes. They have a good selection of sushi. Service is always good and attentive. The ambiance is casual yet lively. We were given an appetizer on the house while there. I ordered the following: Salmon Nigiri 1/5: Was very chewy yet I had to work to bite and swallow it. Probably the worst Sake Nigiri I have had in the past 10 years. Albacore Tuna Nigiri 1/5: Same texture. Chewy yet had to work to bite and swallow it. Not as bad as the salmon, but not good either. Mission Hill Roll 4/5: Bizarre, but the salmon on the roll was better than the nigiri I had ordered. This was good, and enjoyed this roll, but already ruined by the bad nigiris I had earlier. Overall, I judge how good their fish selection is on a simple Sake Nigiri. This left a bad taste in my mouth which ruined the rest. Giving 2 stars for the service, but the fish could have been much better. I visited this restaurant about a year ago, and it was much better in the past. Disappointed. read more

Great spot for decent sushi at what I consider great prices as well. Not too sure if it's just because Fremont is less expensive when comparing to SJ/PA/MV area. Price/Sizing 4.5/5 - Rolls are decently priced at around ~14-20 but the plus mainly comes from them being pretty huge rolls with decent quantity. A lot of places tend to either downsize the rolls or the amount you get, but that was not an issue here. Bentos as well are nicely sized for what I consider fair prices. Service 5/5 - On point, Waitress was mostly at the front where she can see most of the tables and was able to monitor if any tables needed anything. Did not have any issues getting any water refills/help as needed. Flavor wise 4.5/5 - Didn't have any complaints in terms of freshness or taste profiles. Maybe did not entirely enjoy a roll we picked out but that's more of a problem with me than them. Chicken Teriyaki bento was juicy throughout, which I think can be a problem at some places when they overcook it and it becomes dry, but tempura was probably the only issue I had, as it seemed kind of so-so/average. All time favorite sushi spot! My husband and I come here often to satisfy the sushi craving. I put my family on, and now it's one of their favorite spots too! There's plenty of parking in the plaza. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but has a homey, comfortable feel to it (probably because we've been there so many times). The service is always great, friendly and fast! You get a complimentary tempura string bean appetizer, and a fresh pineapple for dessert when you dine-in. And they have stamp cards for special rolls and bento boxes, so you get a nice discount on your bill after enough stamps. Mioki is known for their huge sushi rolls with big cuts of fresh fish. The fish to rice ratio is perfect, unlike many other places that give too much rice and not enough fish. Each piece takes me 2 bites to eat and I can honestly get full after just 1 roll. Our favorite rolls, which we get almost every visit, would be the "New Alaska" and "Crunchy Rainbow". I also personally like their Chirashi Bowl, Salmon Teriyaki, Mixed Tempura, Uni Nigiri, and Salmon Sashimi. If you love sushi, Mioki is a must try! read more

This place really is a wonderful deal! The food was also prepared so fresh, I couldn't believe how tasty everything was. I think I was just in awe of how much came with the Bento Deluxe Dinner, and it was. Only $24! I could easily have broken it down into 3 meals! I wanted a roll that had some variety to it, and the RD Roll really was quite tasty. If you have kids who love sushi, this is a great spot to bring them. CONSISTENTLY GOOD OVER 10+ YRS Ever since moving to Hayward, we tried to be open to other sushi restaurants and one by one each would fail us (quality/portion/credit card # stolen). We didn't want to commute all the way here for sushi, but after going through 4-5 places in Hayward... we gave up and rather come all the way down to Miokis. Mioki probably gone through new/many new management since the early days when I grew up in Union City.... but quality / quantity to price ratio had always been amazing. Don't get me wrong, I love my high quality omakase style places --- but Mioki is a true bang for your buck. Also one of my favorite consistent rolls... don't hate me... it's the Super Philly Roll. It sounds preposterous to have cream cheese in a roll but the combo of ingredients they have is so good. This is the only place I'd trust to put cream cheese in my rolls... you'll never catch me ordering this anywhere else. Definitely will miss this gem if we move out of the Bay Area. read more

Mioki, from now on for me, shall be called Mi-roll-ki. Their rolls are beautiful, delicious, and filling. Came here for dinner on a weeknight and the service was phenomenal! Despite the crowds, we were able to get seated rather quickly (maybe around 5 minutes) - we may have gotten lucky with the timing as the first wave was just wrapping up. Upon getting our seats, we were offered water with ice or no ice, lemon or no lemon. It was a nice touch to have that option as a patron. We knew we were going to get some rolls to share but were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary dish of tempera green beans shortly after we were seated. The green beans tasted fresh and had a nice crisp to it but not overly breaded. The dipping sauce to me wasn't necessary but did had a bit of flavor to the bite. Great way to get in your vegetables for the meal! Upon checking in on Yelp, we also received and used the check in offer for an appetizer size of gyoza. These came out piping hot, crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside. It paired well with the dipping sauce. For rolls, we ordered the Cherry Blossom roll as it's our favorite and Mioki does an amazing job with it. Meaty bites and constructed aesthetically to make your mouth water and yummy grumbling. We also ordered the New Alaska roll, which was a new flavor profile for us. It is packed with smoked salmon and fresh salmon topped with a small slice of lemon. It was very tasty! To round off, we also got a TSY (short for Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail) roll and it had five huge pieces. Each piece was loaded with fish and had a lot of substance with each bite. It's in the pricier end for the number of pieces you get but due to each piece's massive size, it seems fair. And to end our service, we were served a pineapple slice nicely cut into small bite sized morsels we could pick out with toothpicks. Healthy and delicious dessert! The rolls are consistently the best off their menu and with the amazing service exhibited this most recent visit, they're definitely among the top of my sushi list in this area! read more

I almost always get the Sake Don because the portions of the salmon are generous and the quality is very good. Sometimes I get a vegetable tempura side and use it to finish (or almost finish) the extra rice. Omg i'm getting hungry just thinking of it. Also whenever I do the standard order to go, I ask for extra wasabi and they're always really generous about it. This is one of my go to places for my salmon sashimi cravings. Food is 70% toppings and 30% fish/rice. We ordered a couple different rolls that are our standard orders at other sushi restaurants and we were blown away and not in a good way. Nothing was cut evenly. The rice was not the correct consistency or temperature. The quality of the fish was fine but not great when it was coated in a thick layer of sauce. I can't see myself returning unless I hear of a dramatic shift in procedures and food quality. read more

Found this place when my fiancé and I were around the Fremont area and had a craving for sushi. Small restaurant in a quiet little plaza, maybe because we came later in the evening on a weekday. But we got seated quick and while we were browsing the menu, our friendly server (Tiffany) brought out some tempura green beans on the house! Great start to our meal experience. On the window is a sign for $1.99 hot sake (w/ entrée purchase), and 20% off beers so we definitely took advantage of the opportunity. We ordered two rolls and a donburi to share. Word of advice, careful not to over order. These sushi rolls are HUGE. Despite having a lot of rice on each piece, there was no skimping of the fish or topping ingredients. Very impressed with the ratio of everything! Sushi Rolls - thick cuts of tuna and salmon! Crunchy soft shell crab and shrimp tempura pieces. Sushi rice was a bit mushy for my taste, but not heavy on the vinegar. 8/10 Oyako Don - very rich, umami sauce underneath the rice! Fish cakes and egg are bouncy, not overcooked at all. I stumbled upon Mioki Sushi for a casual weeknight dinner and was genuinely impressed right from the warm greeting by Tiffany at the front to the moment the nigiri set arrived. The fish was unbelievably fresh and the generous portions made every dollar feel well spent. I requested no shrimp or squid in my 9 piece dinner and the chef accommodated gracefully. The roll I sampled was flavorful, clean and tightly crafted. FYI: come early for easier seating, and ask for any customizations they were happy to oblige. I'll definitely be back for more. read more

Got food poisoning here, just came back from the Emergency Room & my Doctor confirmed it was from my last meal which was here. Highly do not recommend this place, very unsanitary and unprofessional!
