Left: Sokai roll - one of my favorites for $16 Right: Samurai roll with crispy quinoa for $17. My favorite!

Love this place! Came early for dinner & had: *Butter krab - mamenori, rice, kani osaki, masago, japanese mayo and ponzu butter *Crispy causa with octopus - grilled octopus, crispy causa, chipotle sauce, chalakita, micro cilantro and crispy quinoa *Ceviche carretillero - corvina mixed with octopus, shrimp, fried calamar, aji amarillo leche de tigre, cancha, choco, sweet potate and micro cilantro *Asia roll - mamenori, fresh salmon, crispy eel, cream cheese, avocado, kani osaki, masago, arare, truffle oil, eel sauce, aioli aji amarillo, micro cilantro The butter krab roll never disappoints and the Asia roll and the causa with the octopus were both good. The ceviche got cloying after a while and I had a fishy piece of fish, which turned me off despite all the lime. The pieces of octopus and sweet potato were good but my husband said that the potato was too hard for his liking. Overall it was a good meal. Next time I have to get the ramen though. I regretted not getting it today.

I came here for lunch in a big group and overall enjoyed the service and the food. I felt like the items were a bit overpriced, with most items being around $20, but quality was good. I personally dislike cream cheese in my sushi rolls and unfortunately the vast majority of their rolls featured cream cheese. I recommend coming in a larger group so you can try a bit of each of the rolls. I also tried the teriyaki chicken with rice (also have choice of fries) and I thought the chicken was a bit overcooked and dry. I would stick to the more classic Peruvian inspired items. It wasn't crowded when we came and our food came pretty quickly. I think there are definitely better sushi spots at this similar price point, but I had a good time here.

Sokai is such a delicious Latin/Japanese fusion that never disappoints. They have such an extensive menu of rolls and offerings that it is truly very hard to choose what to order. Nonetheless, every single thing I've tried has been delicious and although the rolls tend to be on the pricier side, they're so big and full of flavor it truly is justified.

Something about Venezuelan sushi is nostalgic and feels like home and Sokai sushi really nails it for me. I tried sushi for the first time in their doral location and instantly loved it and here I am 10 years later still loving their sushi. These rolls are anything but basic-- think an explosion of flavors in each bite and they're to die for. We tried their ceviche, crispy rice and 2 of their rolls and everything was so fresh and so good! Loved it so much

I came this evening with two friends. I sampled their ebi sushi roll. It was very pleasant. I found it to be too cold with the aircon blasting on my shoulders. They also had the music turned up far too loud so it was annoying and distracting. We went on Thursday evening so the music was more for a Friday/ Saturday vibe. I also hated the fact they did not have handheld menus. After a hard Day's week I did not appreciate having to trail through the online menu on my phone. I found it incredibly tedious going back and forth. The decor was cute.

Such a huge variety its difficult to choose. Especially when there are only two of you. I wished I had come with more people so we could have ordered more and tried more options. With only two of us we didn't do too bad. The rolls are so varied and delicious. The Kona roll has sweet plantains. Everything melds so well that the one bite is special. The pork belly buns has cilantro and thinly sliced red onions on top, giving it that fresh taste. The bartender made a great G&T that was balanced and delicious. Our server Tahyna was attentive and friendly. I would definitely ask for her again. We need to return and try more rolls.

Mediocre non-traditional sushi. If you are looking for the sushi classics and more traditional rolls, this is not the restaurant for you! My husband got a rainbow roll- the slices of fish were so thin and they used cheap cuts of fish. A few pieces of shrimp, as well. For the price of the roll, it was disappointing. My MIL's ceviche had a very fishy taste. I was pretty happy with my rolls, but they were definitely an "asian fusion", there was nothing traditional about them. Pretty pricy overall, and even though I enjoyed my rolls, the rest of my dining party strongly disliked their food. Definitely not worth the cost, in my opinion. They were ok about my dairy allergy - they removed cream cheese from my rolls, but I'm not sure the waitress understood the severity of my allergy, or if we just lucked out. Service wasn't great and we sat outdoors when a musician was performing- we couldn't hear each other to talk. My husband and I are in our 30s, so usually this isn't an issue for us, the music was LOUD. Decor was very cute and trendy. Convenient location.

Sokai Delight - not good at all Asia roll - DELICIOUS Matsu - it was good

Butter crab rolls are always a delight at this place. The tuna roll "Sokai Delight" nasty it was more filled with crab than Tuna fish, it wasn't appreciative- is a no GO. Matsu and Sokai roll were really nice Service was good. Ambiance a bit too cold inside. They turn a turbine of air and gets really freezing - uncomfortable temp.

I love Sokai! They have become one of my favorite local spots and I've been coming here pretty frequently over the last year and a half. I particularly like coming here for lunch. I have found that I enjoy the quality and service better at this time of day. It's also quieter and much quicker. Dinner here can be hit or miss. First, let's talk drinks.. I've had wine here but nothing special about this list. They make great cocktails and have good liquor, so skip the wine. My favorite drink here is the Passion Pisco Sour.. I love it, love it (yes.. x2.. and I can't leave here without having at least 2 of them). My husband loves their Smoked Old Fashioned which always smells amazing. Food.. it's all pretty darn good. Some highlights.. the wagyu burgers, the crispy rice, the lobster roll... and my favorite roll, the Asia Roll. I like it so much that sometimes I come two days in a row.. so why not 5 stars? The lack of consistency with service and flavor; depending on outside temp and where you sit, the AC might sweat and drip on you; and sitting at the bar is annoying with loud and forceful fans blowing.

Really surprised this place didn't have better reviews! We ordered in through Uber Eats which they deliver exclusively through. And let me tell you, it really seems like they have their stuff together. The tamper evident sticker on the bag has a checklist for whoever is packing it to check off sauces, utensils, etc and I can tell they value quality control just by that. I've never seen another restaurant do that. They also seem to be sponsored by the south Dade Kia dealership as their logo is on napkins and bags: GENIUS! On to the food: listen, I know that Tokio roll isn't pretty because of the crunchy onions but it is so dang delicious! We took a risk because they were BOGO on the Uber eats app even though some of the ingredients sounded like "how the heck is that all going to taste together?!" But it works! A hint of sweetness from the plantains to balance the tangy flavor from the aji Amarillo. We were really impressed. Will definitely order from here again!

We didn't have reservations but we were welcomed and even received the best seats in the house. Our server was Francisco, who has worked there a long time, was excellent! We chose the Oma Deluxe because we wanted the entire experience. Francisco explained each sushi and what part of the fish we were eating. Each dish was brought out separately. There were about 9 pieces of different cuts of fish. They were delicious! My daughter had Sake and I had Non-alcoholic beer. Both went fine with our meal. Afterwards, we were served dessert. What a great experience! Give it a try when you can. Later, we went upstairs to ASTRA restaurant and bar to further enjoy our evening with beautiful views of Miami. Parking is mostly limited street parking though, so plan ahead. This spot is more about curated tastings, sashimi, nigiri, and handrolls rather than specialty rolls, so don't expect a huge roll menu. We ordered the sashimi assortment, white fish tasting, seared salmon, bluefin tuna tasting, unagi foie gras, and a few handrolls including blue crab and negi toro. Everything tasted super fresh and flavorful, especially the bluefin and unagi foie gras. Portions are on the lighter side though, so we left satisfied but not totally full. Cedrick was awesome and really made the experience better. He knew the menu inside and out and explained everything perfectly. Definitely worth checking out if you're in Wynwood and want quality sushi without the overly trendy vibe.

However, if your most expensive sushi roll is $29, and it's the only roll that comes with 5 pieces instead of 10 pieces, there should most definitely be a mention of that on the menu. While our other friends who ordered literally any other roll got a full size portion, it came as a shock to the table when those who ordered the truffle Maki roll received 5, small pieces. The spicy edamame was pretty good. The sauce wasn't just spicy, but tasty. The miso soup was good as well. For drinks, the espresso martini wasn't out of this world, it just tasted like every other espresso martini you'd get at any bar. Our waiter was pretty good considering we had a large party of 24 people. At first he seemed overwhelmed, but thankfully they were able to recognize that and gave him two extra hands to help with orders, drinks, and water refills. The restaurant aesthetic was cute and had a few nice backdrops for photos. However, good luck using the bathroom. The one women's toilet did not flush and was backed up completely with toilet paper. This forced us to use the one men's bathroom, which was also backed up, but not as bad as the women's. To wash your hands there was a small trickle of water. Seems like they have plumbing or pipe issues. Overall was decent, but I won't be back.
