I came here for lunch in a big group and overall enjoyed the service and the food. I felt like the items were a bit overpriced, with most items being around $20, but quality was good. I personally dislike cream cheese in my sushi rolls and unfortunately the vast majority of their rolls featured cream cheese. I recommend coming in a larger group so you can try a bit of each of the rolls. I also tried the teriyaki chicken with rice (also have choice of fries) and I thought the chicken was a bit overcooked and dry. I would stick to the more classic Peruvian inspired items. I came this evening with two friends. I sampled their ebi sushi roll. It was very pleasant. I found it to be too cold with the aircon blasting on my shoulders. They also had the music turned up far too loud so it was annoying and distracting. We went on Thursday evening so the music was more for a Friday/ Saturday vibe. I also hated the fact they did not have handheld menus. After a hard Day's week I did not appreciate having to trail through the online menu on my phone. Such a huge variety its difficult to choose. Especially when there are only two of you. I wished I had come with more people so we could have ordered more and tried more options. With only two of us we didn't do too bad. The rolls are so varied and delicious. The Kona roll has sweet plantains. Everything melds so well that the one bite is special. The pork belly buns has cilantro and thinly sliced red onions on top, giving it that fresh taste. The bartender made a great G&T that was balanced and delicious. My MIL's ceviche had a very fishy taste. I was pretty happy with my rolls, but they were definitely an "asian fusion", there was nothing traditional about them. Pretty pricy overall, and even though I enjoyed my rolls, the rest of my dining party strongly disliked their food. Definitely not worth the cost, in my opinion. They were ok about my dairy allergy - they removed cream cheese from my rolls, but I'm not sure the waitress understood the severity of my allergy, or if we just lucked out. Service wasn't great and we sat outdoors when a musician was performing- we couldn't hear each other to talk. I love Sokai! They have become one of my favorite local spots and I've been coming here pretty frequently over the last year and a half. I particularly like coming here for lunch. I have found that I enjoy the quality and service better at this time of day. It's also quieter and much quicker. Dinner here can be hit or miss. First, let's talk drinks.. I've had wine here but nothing special about this list. They make great cocktails and have good liquor, so skip the wine. My favorite drink here is the Passion Pisco Sour.. I love it, love it (yes.. x2.. and I can't leave here without having at least 2 of them). My husband loves their Smoked Old Fashioned which always smells amazing. Food.. it's all pretty darn good. Some highlights.. the wagyu burgers, the crispy rice, the lobster roll... and my favorite roll, the Asia Roll. I like it so much that sometimes I come two days in a row.. so why not 5 stars? Really surprised this place didn't have better reviews! We ordered in through Uber Eats which they deliver exclusively through. And let me tell you, it really seems like they have their stuff together. The tamper evident sticker on the bag has a checklist for whoever is packing it to check off sauces, utensils, etc and I can tell they value quality control just by that. I've never seen another restaurant do that. They also seem to be sponsored by the south Dade Kia dealership as their logo is on napkins and bags: GENIUS! That's when I realized this is a Peruvian sushi place. His voice was incredible. The venue is very nice. I believe everyone enjoyed their meal. I did too, I ordered chicken lol. We came in about an hour before closing, so there was still plenty of time to dine comfortably. Unfortunately, our experience with our server, Thanya, was very disappointing. From the start, she rushed us as if the restaurant were about to close in five minutes. We felt pressured to order immediately, which made the experience uncomfortable. When asking simple questions about the menu, she repeatedly told us things were "not possible." For example, I asked if my meat could be cooked medium, and she responded that it couldn't be cooked to a specific temperature. Later, when we asked to order another drink, she initially said it wasn't possible. After I glanced toward the bar in confusion, she came back and said we actually could order a drink. The service was inconsistent and not attentive. At one point, she told us she wouldn't be our server anymore because the bartender had brought our drinks. When we politely asked again to clarify if she was still our server, she mumbled something and walked away. Overall, the service felt rushed, dismissive, and unprofessional. We understand it was later in the evening, but arriving an hour before closing should still allow for a respectful and attentive dining experience. I have been to this location a few times since it opened and just realized I have never written a review. The restaurant is on the outside of the falls mall. They have indoor and outdoor seating and the restaurant is pretty and clean. We were greeted and seated quickly. We ordered the spicy edamame to start- we love it. They get a good char flavor on the edamame and the spicy sauce is just yummy. My husband had the lomo salteado, my daughter the Asia roll, we ordered a Miami roll for the table and I had the beef fried rice. Everything was fresh and tasty. Dinner for family of four. We arrived 7:35 pm ordered 2 drinks, water, two appetizers and the main entries right away as the place was full and wanted to get the ordering done with. The 2 drinks came out about 30 minutes after ordering them. The edamame came out 35 minutes after the order was placed. The tuna tartare appetizer came out 55 minutes later. Then a shared main dish at about an hour later. When this main dish was almost eaten, the two rolls of sushi and the fried rice came out almost together. This was an hour and 40 minutes later after ordering them. The kids ate last after we finished our cold jalea de mariscos On top of this, the AC blasted on us in and off as it cycled making us extremely uncomfortable and also chilling the dishes. We sat next to the windows and the air came right above us. The place had 4 waiters/waitresses. I could see the bartender and the host helping out with the waitering. So happy to finally have a Sokai near my house! I had previously visited 2 other locations and happy to report this location on the Falls definitely measures up in terms of flavor and service. We arrived at night and were seated promptly however a few minutes into seating down the AC turned on and I will say that is my only negative, because the air vents were literally hitting us in the face which is uncomfortable while you are trying to have a meal, plus we had our kids which didn't seem to like the cold either. We asked to be moved and the staff did immediately so no complains there. After we ordered our appetizers and meals all came out in a timely manner as the restaurant was quite busy that night. However the most important thing is always the flavor. Our sushi rolls were scrumptious. The Doral roll has truffle oil so if you like truffles that is a must try! the fish is so buttery soft you feel like it's just melting in your mouth absolutely flavorful and fresh. Sokai was definitely one that did so thanks to my bff Jojo for exposing me. Since we're still the pandemic, we ordered takeout. We got the Doral Roll, Brie Temptation and the Japanese Tacos. Honestly, this was one of the most impressive sushi takeouts I've ever had. Granted they used the common clear plastic containers, the rolls were presented beautifully and they were fresh. I could tell by the texture of the rice itself. The Doral Roll was my favorite. It was very flavorful and I know some will say it's because of the eel sauce or spicy mayo, but no. I ate them without any soy sauce or whatever and it was spectacular. Once everything is back to normal, I definitely would like to experience a full dinner experience. My favorite plates are the Acevichado Roll, salmon crispy rice, and the butter crab roll. The Acevichado roll is basically ceviche in sushi form with the sauce under the crispy rice is salmon avocado truffle which pairs very well this is a MUST ORDER. The ambiance differs as the falls attracts a different crowd but I know many people who come to the falls just for this place.
