I tried Sol Boba for the first time since I was in the area for some groceries and banh mì sandwiches so I figured I would stop by since it's my personal mission to visit as many boba shops as possible, being the milk tea lover that I am. The shop itself is pretty small with only a few seats and tables and there wasn't any customers present when I first walked in but it has a nice aesthetic going on so I'd imagine it would be an ideal place to chill with friends if you're craving boba; otherwise, nothing wrong with picking up your fave drinks and skedaddling home either. There was just one employee behind the counter when I entered the shop, but it wasn't busy so it was fine and once more people started coming in after me and a line was forming, another employee showed up to help out. The service was actually really good though, and the worker was super nice, quick, and got my order right even though he was solo at first. I ordered three drinks: the taro Oreo slush, coconut matcha latte, and Thai tea (with boba in the last two), and they were all SOOO good. The drinks were super creamy and flavorful, and the boba was made really well. Like soft and chewy, not hard at all. I also got two macarons (a créme brulée and a matcha), and omgoth, they're not the tiny ones you usually see. They're pretty big and thick, which explains the approximate $4.50 price, but they were totally worth it. Definitely suggest trying at least one. Prices overall felt pretty average for boba, not cheap but not crazy either. Oh yeah, I think the drinks only come in one size (I don't recall there being a Small or Large option). There's a lot of parking since it's in an Asian plaza, but it does get really busy because Sol Boba is right next to H Mart, so there was practically no parking in front of the shop and I feel like the spaces are kinda tight. There is banner/sign saying "under new management" at the front, but since this was my first time visiting, I can't really say much on that? Overall though, it was a great first-time experience since the drinks were delish so I will definitely come back! read more

I hope they are seeing the more recent reviews, the drinks have become pretty bad and the taste does not justify the cost. Cashier was not even focused tonight for whatever reason, ordered a blueberry Matcha, but not sure why he put strawberry. Hope it becomes the place that it once was known for, I will definitely not recommend people to be checking this place out anymore. What a shame. Really disappointed, especially for a nearly $7 drink. The cup size versus the actual amount of drink you receive is honestly ridiculous. There was an excessive amount of empty space at the top, which made it feel very misleading and poor value for the price. It also was not like this before the new management took over. I love coming here for the barley milk tea and trying out their seasonal flavors! The grapefruit ade is one of my favorites. They've remodeled recently giving the interior a great and chic vibe, however, this is more of a grab and go place rather than a place to go and hang for a bit. The drinks are great, but service is hit or miss. One thing to note is the drink carriers here are quite flimsy and you always have to carry them from the bottom to avoid the drinks slipping through which defeats the whole purpose. I have been going to SolBoba since it first opened. It was truly one of my favorite boba places in Tacoma for a long time. Their drinks are well crafted and delicious. I usually get the oolong milk tea and you can really taste the tea which is what I look for! However, the service here has gone downhill. The location is meant to close at 8:30pm but staff started putting up chairs/mopping the floors around 7:00pm! It felt like they were ushering us out. I can understand staff wanting to get ahead of closing tasks but this was disappointing. I saw recently that the management has changed so hopefully the service will improve in quality. read more

MUST TRY! So far I've tried the matcha strawberry and the brown sugar Oreo shake and both did not miss! The Oreo has to be the winner. Used to be my go to place for boba since I love supporting small businesses. But unfortunately the customer service has gone down hill. There was a mishap with the drink carrier and it broke causing 4 drinks to drop on the ground right in front of their store. I went back in and showed that all 4 drinks were cracked and not drinkable. Even kind strangers outside asked if I was okay and offered to help get the broken drinks off the floor. Intially, the store offered to make the drinks again, but what blew my mind was that they changed their mind and wanted me to repay for all the drinks in order to get them again! I used to buy 4 drinks all the time here and got boba at least once, if not twice a week and never had issues before. I left with no drinks in hand since they didn't want to make them again and they stated "They are a small business, and can't afford to make them again". Wasted $25 and my time. Open until 10 pm! Fantastic grey-white-brown aesthetic and music choice. Spend the day here to study. The downside is that they open a little later than desired (11 am) but otherwise love this place. Keep in mind that they charge extra for no ice (even though it's not listed as part of their pricing). I ended up ordering their mango hibiscus tea with lychee jelly and no ice. That ended up being around $9 total without military discount. Mango hibiscus tea: gorgeous colors. Perfect about of tartness mixed with sweetness and light enough to feel refreshing. Legit Good! I'm a boba milk tea addict. I also hate fake places that uses only powder and not a single tea cup is brewed. I can tell ya: this place is awesome. Before this place, I've only been introduced to the Slushy-type of Honeydew boba. This is the first time I've ever had Honeydew Milk Tea like this. The only reason this place is getting a 4 star is because of the limited options. Sadly enough I personally don't like coffee or tea so I could only choose from the slushes they had. I got the strawberry mango slush with tapioca and mango jelly. Usually when I go to boba shops they obviously have tea but they sell some sort of creamy smoothie. Definitely one of the best boba spots in the Tacoma area no doubt about it. This has only been my second time going to Sol Boba, and so far I've had some really delicious drinks! The first time I came here I got the Asian Pear Slush, and wow. Just wow. This drink was SO good and tasted super refreshing and not too sweet! I tend to drink fruit teas these days and their Asian Pear really hit the spot. Also it's rare to find this flavour too, so I was excited to see this on the menu.
