Came across this place while driving between Portland to Seattle and needed a quick caffeine pick-me-up. While I have cafes I prefer in Lakewood, I wanted to try something new, so I found EM Boba & Coffee after looking up places online I ordered the Vietnamese coffee with the egg cream topping. I go to quite a few Vietnamese cafes in Seattle, so I have my standards. Unfortunately, their coffee did not meet my standards at all. The coffee tasted like it was made straight from one of those Vietnamese instant coffee packets. I do drink that here and there at home, but it's not the kind of taste I want from a cafe. The egg cream was pleasant though and helped make it taste better. I probably wouldn't come back for the coffee, but I'm still interested to see what the other drinks were like. read more

I have seen their Instagram advertising that they were open and followed them to try it out. We finally got the chance to do so and we went to grab some refreshing drinks. They had samples of their black sesame rice Krispy treat and it was really good, not too sweet and very nostalgic of a classic childhood treat. We just had a meal next door so we didn't need a snack so we'll order that next time. My boyfriend got the ube coffee while I got a summer special drink (can't remember which one) and it was what we were looking for: refreshing and not too sweet. Now the biggest issue that I came across is when I asked for no ice in my drink, the employee gave me an apologetic smile and said she would try her best. As you see in the picture, it isn't completely full. Now I saw a review that complained about a similar issue and the business owner said that you can just let staff know that you want the cup to be filled and they would do their best to accommodate. Not sure if that is just miscommunication or just something the owner said to seem like they are solving the issue but it seems really unprofessional. I understand that it can alter the drink's intended flavor but I ask for no ice all the time and am always happy with how it turns out. You check my photos of drinks from other places and I always ask for no ice as I have sensitive teeth and I don't like the condensation it causes. Other than that issue, it's good to see Lakewood have a nice boba and coffee spot. Additionally, they have two crane machines and board games to enjoy too. They are also dog friendly as long as they are well-behaved and don't cause any messes. read more

A new boba and coffee shop located in Lakewood! My sister and I went during their soft opening, which had a special 10% discount for customers that visited. The interior is bright and simple. Very clean aesthetic. I ordered the Ube Coffee. My sister ordered the Strawberry Matcha Latte. I was hesitant to order the Ube Coffee because Vietnamese coffee is so STRONG. We were in the area when we decided to try this new boba spot. Just opened a month ago (staff says), the boba orders we got were not that good. My wife ordered the oolong tea w/brown sugar boba she said it didn't taste like oolong but more like jasmine tea mixed in with lots of milk. I ordered the Okinawa milk tea wasn't that great either, basically they added milk and Hershey chocolate syrup and boba, not that special. Staff were friendly that's about it. We didn't finished the drinks, it was a waste. Maybe since they're new and trying to figure out how to make the drinks. read more

New favorite boba place!! I ordered the crème brûlée Milk Tea with tapioca. It was PERFECTION. Might not be your cup of tea if you don't like your drinks too sweet. Awesome new boba spot down south! I came in on a Sunday afternoon and was greeted with friendly welcome and smiles. Customer service is top tier here and the staff was very helpful in answering any questions or providing recommendations. The overall vibe here is nice. Very clean and a comfortable spot to chill at with friends. I ordered the passion melody with mango jelly and it was delicious. Super flavorful, not at all watered down, refreshing. Hit the spot. I was in the area waiting for my dog to finish with her grooming appointment, so decided to get some bubble tea. I got two fruit teas for myself, the Grape Giggle and Kiwi Sunrise, and got my sister the Grape Giggle as well. I modified the sugar levels on my drinks to a "1" (they use a scale of 0 to 2). Service was excellent, very friendly. They also let me know that the Kiwi Sunrise had a layer of hibiscus tea, which isn't shown in the menu picture. I really enjoyed my drinks. They were tasty and fruity. The tapioca had good chewy texture, and they in-house made golden jelly was good. My sister also really liked her fruit tea, which she's pretty hard to please. This place is so cute and clean! We stopped by for a sweet treat after dinner and it did not disappoint. The Strawberry Cheese Crush tastes like a strawberry cheesecake shake and the Taro Milk Tea was perfectly sweet and didn't have an artificial after taste like most boba shops. The Oreo Croffle was absolutely delicious! Make sure you add the ice cream. Staff was friendly and super helpful when we asked what they recommended. Can't wait to try more drinks here! read more

First time here and ordered the standard milk tea without boba. I enjoyed the flavors and would visit again if in the area. Wish they had more toppings options like red bean or coffee jelly. The music was blaring when I visited so the cafe may not be the best place to get work done, however, it could be a fun place to socialize or play some games. read more

Went to EM Boba & Coffee for the first time today. We saw that it just recently opened so we decided to try it out. The interior of the cafe was really nice and clean. Nice artwork on the walls. The staff was really nice and friendly. They were really helpful on questions that we had about the drinks. The mango dragonfruit frosty was really delicious. You can taste the mango a lot and it looks really nice. Nice consistency too, smooth and not too icy. My sister got the Ube latte, the coffee flavor is strong for me but she really enjoyed the drink. Overall 5/5 experience and would highly recommend to come here if you are in the Lakewood town center area. read more

I was around the area doing errands and I stumbled upon this new boba place so I decided to give it a try. It is located in a plaza next to Firehouse Subs with lots of parking. I heard this place is fairly new so I had to stop by. Upon entering the shop was a bright space with a few table seatings. The menu was against the wall with a variety of tea and dessert offerings. There was only one person working at the time so luckily it wasn't busy at the time. I decided to try their Okinawa milk tea and mango matcha latte with half sugar each. Overall, I thought the drinks were pretty good but a tad sweet. Okinawa milk tea has a strong flavor of brown sugar which was good but there was a lot of sugar syrup coated inside the cup. I like the mango matcha drink better. Next time, I'm gonna try their fruit tea drinks and perhaps their yummy croffles. One suggestion would be adding some food items to the menu. It'll be nice to snack and drink boba with friends when hanging out at a boba shop. read more

Two weeks ago, I was just trying to grab a quick sandwich--nothing fancy, just something to get me through the afternoon. As I was leaving the firehouse subs , I noticed a boba place right next door. I figured, why not? A little treat sounded good. But walking in, the vibe was off immediately. It was packed, sure, but the tension in the room wasn't just about the crowd. The manager was hovering behind the counter, speaking curtly to customers and rushing workers, and honestly, the energy shifted depending on who walked up. I couldn't help but notice the attitude and passive aggression really came out when it was people of color ordering. Side-eyes, short responses, an unnecessary level of scrutiny--it was subtle, but not *that* subtle. And unfortunately, not surprising. I stayed polite, got my drink, and left--but yeah, I won't be going back. There are too many places that serve good boba *and* respect everyone who walks through their door. read more

Upfront info: great drinks, great owners/staff, great location (parking lot spacious), and very clean/new. First off, I've had my fair share of Boba or sweet drinks. I would like to state I've been to various places around the world and states. Some places being Houston, big cities throughout Cali, and been to Taiwan where it's all started. My family has been searching for a boba shop in the Lakewood area that would be consistent. We know there are several locations S Tacoma Way with all the Asian stores. I've tried multiple places there and nothing impressed us or kept us coming back. Em Boba has been very delightful. From the drinks to the people there. We typically go for the Special and Okinawa Milk Teas. If you don't like it to be too sweet, just remember to ask for a less percentage. Improvements: 1. Wish this place had a points or reward system. Such as buy a certain amount and get rewarded with one. Within the system celebrate your birthday. 2. A strong rich coffee foam that I've had in some places. I hope to see this place grow and highly encourage others to come. read more

It is a very well kept establishment, I came in and it was very clean and friendly as soon as you walk in. It is a great atmosphere that has a great design. The staff is also very friendly with management that is not afraid to do the work and help create a wonderful environment for their new customers. Very kind staff that are attentive and provide quick service. I had the white cloud coffee which was a perfect fusion of sweet, creamy and strong. It's a great kick of energy that satisfies your taste buds. I also enjoyed their Oreo Croffle which is a mix of a sweet waffle resembling the shape of a croissant, that had chocolate syrup, Oreo crumbs, topped with ice cream and an Oreo. We've been back 3 times since their grand opening! The drinks and croffles are amazing! The taro ube milk tea is a must if you love taro and ube. We've tried almost all of their croffle flavors and all were delicious! The last flavor we have to try is the berry one, but I'm sure it won't disappoint!
