I understand that people want this amazing experience when they dine-out, read the negative reviews, but wanted to try a local "mom and pop shop." So, forgoing the negative reviews on service, I decided to try this place. The type of service here is friendly and attentive, idk where some of the people on here are used to dining, but this place has a great local hometown feel, and the food speaks volumes to why someone should come here. Support your local restaurants, discover your own experiences and steer clear of the snobs who think eating out should be a server who bends over backwards for the privileged condescending customers posting on here. Great food doesn't stands on its own feet. And no I'm not being paid for this review just really like the food and I'm glad I ignored the negative reviews. read more

We went on a Friday for lunch. It was not overly busy. Our waiter got our drinks, took and brought our order and did not see him again. The food was awful - the enchilada sauce was more like tomato sauce. Water and soda were never refilled. We had to ask another employee to get our check for us. No one checked on us during our meal. The food was decent but we had to wait forever for a waitress to realize we were there and when she did she was a bit rude. We also had to wait a long time for the check at the end. The margarita and micheladas were good though. My boyfriend and I ordered the oysters and were happy with that choice. read more

I just don't get why people like this place. I have tried it twice and both times the service was slow and the food was bland and boring.

So we will never go back to this place. Walked in tonight, got chips and salsa and never saw anyone come by again. We waited 20 plus minutes after the chips, saw the table that people sat down after us get their order taken. When we got up to leave, I told the server at the front we were leaving because we never got served and she just looked at me and WALKED AWAY!!!!!. My husband saw the manager start to walk around then fled to the kitchen. So sad. read more

Incredible food. I love Mexican food and this place ROCKS!!! Everyone I refer to Sol de Jalisco gets back to me and says it is awesome. By far the best Mexican food in NoCo!!! I personally love the Burrito Blanco. The white sauce is delicious. And my family loves the Super Burrito with crispy and ground beef. The Mocajete Bowl had an large amount of tasty meat and my husband and I love to share it. My 8 year old nephew is a big fan of the kids Bean and Beef Burrito. It is amazing because he is such a picky eater. read more

I hate giving a low star review to a place with such nice people, but the food here is only 2 stars. I have given this place 3 chances and each time I leave just a little more disappointed. I was born in raised in San Antonio, the Mecca of Mexican food, so maybe I'm holding them to too high of a standard. I just can't recommend this place of your looking for good Mexican food. The waitstaff is always very nice, although a bit slow at times, and the salsa is really good. If your craving authentic or tex-mex, your better off cooking it yourself. read more

I stopped in for dinner last night (2nd trip) and continue to be blown away with their salsa & chips. My waiter said you CAN get to-go orders of it. I think I could polish off a gallon of the salsa alone. Tried the chili rellenos? They're still tough & I can't figure out why, but who cares, the flavors of everything just shine. Great food. Good service. Myrna was our server and she was fantastic! Huge smile on her face from the moment we walked in the door. It was about 8 PM when we stopped in for a bite to eat after a long drive up north...The place was crowded. This is always a good sign. The salsa was incredible, fresh as if they literally just made it. The chips were ok...I like warm chips with my salsa. I had the fish tacos with the grilled talipia and my boyfriend had a shredded beef smothered burrito with green chilli. Food was served on time and was hot and the flavors were spot on. Some of the best fish tacos I've ever had. Restaurant was clean and pricing reasonable. $1.50 for a side of sour cream ( they forgot it with our meal ) was kinda high I thought. But....food was good, server was good....we will come again. My boyfriend works in the area and has been here quite a few times with his company and they all rave about it. We tried the tacos al carbon & the street tacos. So good! The tortillas for the tacos al carbon were marinated in spices that made them even better, but pretty messy. The refried beans they give you with the chips were so good & creamy! Margarita wasn't bad either. We will definitely be back soon! read more

There are very good Mexican restaurants around and this is one of them. Kids eat for free on Mondays. Chips and salsa are awesome and come with beans too. Service is good. The Mexican pizza is a great main dish too. Machaca is awesome. Shrimp dishes are really great too. read more

Stopped in for lunch due to its close location to the Poudre River trail. Service was prompt and polite. Food was excellent. Decided to split a house Cadillac margarita and it was exceptionally smooth and tasty, with no skimping on the alcohol and it was very reasonably priced! This restaurant is worth the drive from Fort Collins for good Mexican fare. read more

We came in on a busy night with 6 adults and 4 kids without reservations or call ahead. They sat us within 20 minutes. Everyone (including the kids!) loved the food!! Big party means a bit longer wait, but it was expected and not bad at all! The Mocajete was DIVINE!!! We had an incredibly attentive waiter! Glasses and chips were always full! DO NOT eat the oysters on the half shell. They smelled like fish upon arrival, which made our entire meal tasteless because our noses were closed. I live up the street from this place. I have dined in here and gotten take-out more times than I can count. I have never have an order come out correctly from them. Sides are wrong, things are missing, wrong things are added. Every. Single. Time. When I have dined in, the service is unfriendly. When I have called to correct my food, they are not helpful or willing to change anything. One time I was charged significantly over what my order came to and no restitution was offered. read more

Awful customer service. A gentleman seated our family of 5 in a tiny booth for 4. I had a baby carrier, and figured he was going to get a highchair or sling to place it in..nope.. he literally expected me to keep our newborn baby on the ground. My husband went out to the car and got our sons stroller to sit him in. The guy proceeded to give us dirty glances the rest of the night. Not to mention the booths were all ripped up and dirty (which my 4yr old even mentioned) We received our food in literally under 5 minutes, which means none of it had to have been fresh. Our waitress asked if we needed anything else, so I asked for a side of sour cream for our older son... instead of walking to the kitchen to get it she talked to a few other tables, walked around the bar area, gave several glances at us and never came back. We would of all loved a refill on our waters. I asked her for the check and she chuckled and said sorry about the sour cream so I laughed and said to myself, sorry about your tip. The carne asada tacos are the best in town. Great deal on a pitcher of margaritas which look like they're going to taste like lime green gatorade, but they were strong and actually very tasty! We have lived here for just over two years now and have probably visited Sol De Jalisco at least 30-40 times. We really enjoyed the food in the beginning and the service was always relatively good, not great but good. I would say over our last 10 visits we have watched the service steadily go downhill as well as the quality of the food. They have now gone to larger plates but somehow the portions have absolutely diminished to the point we leave hungry, and for a Mexican restaurant that is usually unheard if they return with unlimited chips. However, we are lucky to get chips before our meal is served, they never check to see if the meal is o.k. and if by some chance they do stop by they do not listen. We advised them at our last visit that it will be the last time we go back for awhile and that's too bad because Windsor is a great town with limited restaurants. It's certainly not worth the $45 for two meals and two drinks when you consider it's chips, rice, beans and a small portion of an entree. Sad they went downhill so fast. read more

I have been here several times and was happier with my most recent visit. The food is good depending on what you order. I had the special triple meat entree. It was expensive but worth it. Agree that service is very poor. We have out of town guests coming and want to take them out, but am concerned about service as we would be a large group. Tried to have lunch here Saturday at 2 pm. The place was dead. We asked for extra salsa for our chips but it never came. The waitress then asked if she could take our order and we asked for 1 more minute. This turned into 24 min with no service. We ended up leaving with out ordering anything. They had lame excuses of why we received such poor service. I live 1 block away from here and will never be back. I will also advise all I know to eat elsewhere. read more

Had seen this place for over a year and was curious about it. Read the reviews posted here and it seemed that people either really liked it or didn't much care for it. Tried it last night and was surprised at how good it was. For me, the sign of a good Mexican restaurant is the quality of their shredded beef. Their shredded beef burrito was really good and when I asked for extra chopped jalapeños on top, that's exactly what I got. And they were fresh jalapeños, not the pickled variety that I hate! My second time with my wife and I tonight she had the pork enchiladas and I had the soft chile relenos. Everything was perfect as last time as well. As in previous reviews the chips and salsa are bar none!!! If you want great food make the trip to Windsor. My new favorite Mexican restaurant.
