Came here to gather some last min food and supplies for our camping trip. This place is cute little store. They have everything you need! Wood, meat, camping supplies and all sorts of food. The staff was friendly and they have a little road runner that comes out to hang out in front of the store named Ronnie! We saw him and he was a cool little guy and fun to watch. The prices were a little high but they have good stuff. Also, their home made baked goods near the meat section towards the back are PHENOMENAL! Those tasted so good next to the campfire at our camp. We will for sure be back when we are in town again. read more

Very, very overpriced food. Good choices for ready made deli food for back packing but you are going to pay for it. Not a lot of places to buy groceries and water in Springdale so you are stuck with this place. Just know you will be paying a lot. read more

As many have already noted, the grocery prices are ungodly high. I'm reviewing specifically the sandwiches that the deli prepares and wraps up for you to take on your backpack hiking. They are great and a real god-send for a long day of hiking in Zion so you don't have to come out of the park or eat at the lodge. As for the groceries, to give you an idea a 24 pack of bottled water is $10-$15 depending on the brand. We stopped at Davis in LaVerkin which was MUCH cheaper. read more

I get it. You are the only market in town. You are expensive. When my daughter's leg broke out in a rash, you were the only place that had hydrocortisone cream ($4.99) near Zion/Springdale. Oh yeah, and when my ankle had bleeding blisters from the new hiking shoes I just bought, you had those fancy gel bandaids ($6.99) that helped me from rubbing my ankle raw the next day. You also had a much needed bathroom (free) for my son, who could not hold it until we got back to the hotel. Speaking of my son, he got his first bee-sting at Zion and you also had some things for that. I know I should have been more prepared and brought all those things with me, but if you're like me and forgot a few things, this place probably has it. You've been warned though, so don't be surprised when your bill comes out to $74 for a few things. read more

Cute little store that gets $5.69 for a can of soup that is $1.29 at Walmart!!!! This is by far the worst price gouging we have seen in Zion! We came to Sol Foods numerous times during our few days in town. It's your basic grocery store where you can buy food and other goods. First night we stopped in to get water and snacks. The next morning we came back for gloves (at the hardware store). Overall it was an alright place - especially considering it was the a couple of blocks from the hotel. The employees were always friendly and the store was always clean and in perfect order. This isn't their fault - as I think it's a Utah state law things...but, they don't sell wine here. On our first night we really wanted some wine to sip on our balcony as we unwinded for the night - and hopefully warmed up too. However, they did send us a mile or two up the road where they had wine...very nice of them to point us that way. The hardware store is a little pricey (especially on the gloves that I bought!) but I get it. They have all the basics you might need for the house. It's tiny compared to the big box home good stores, and has a nice small town charm feel to it. read more

First of all, I think everybody needs to take a deep breath and take a good hard look at your expectations for a grocery store in Springdale. Springdale is exactly 1 point almost nothing miles from the gates of Zion National Park. Back the other direction, you've got to go 19.5 miles to La Verkin, or 24 miles to Hurricane. Neither of which are massive cities. They're towns. And lovely ones at that. But not really big shipping thoroughfare. The moral of the story is, do you really expect to find a deal on groceries here? What can you really expect. In many ways, Sol Foods exceeded my expectations. This place is really nice. Very clean. And there's a parking garage, for crying out loud. Surely they're just going to have the basics, right? I bought a package of organic crackers, and saw lots of fancy stuff in those few aisles that really blew me away. Fresh produce, meat, and of course all of the necessities of the hiker or tourist in town. We bought a package of ice cream bars. And loved them. Nothing we got was too outrageously priced. Most stuff was more expensive then you'll find elsewhere. But not painfully so. Springdale is not a big town. So to find a modern grocery store at all (parking garage people, parking garage) is a welcome surprise and exceeded my expectations. read more

We were the only ones in the store with a cart. We spent $185 and felt sick to our stomach. Usually shopping for a couple meals and snacks will save you money on vacation. Looking for Whole Foods and accidentally found Sol Foods? Well you're in luck! First of all this place sells everything you need to make it in the Utopian wasteland that is Zion. That includes groceries, sandwiches, wraps and salads. But it also includes beer! Sweet, sweet 3.2 % abv beer! Try the Bud Light Lime for a local experience and make sure you identify the nearest bathroom since 3.2 is basically water. Sweet, sweet alcholic water. Second, they have walking sticks! You may think "I don't need no stinkin' walking sticks!". But you do! A walking stick is not just Big Stick trying to steal your hard earned cash, it's a serious hiking aid. Just ask a random woman I met in Grand Canyon! Third, if the register is unmanned (unpersonned) then you just ring the bell and a helpful store employee will magically appear! That's the level of trust we're talking about here. You could just walk out with your 3.2 % water, but you don't! You ring the bell and ask directions to the bathroom like a normal person. Finally, right across the street (and 0.3 miles further down the road), is a really nice restaurant with excellent spaghetti and meat balls (ask for the home made meat balls). But watch out for the sketchy guy from Holland staring at you! (He's obviously only there to pick a fight - what other reason could he possible have for looking in your general direction?!?) read more

RIPOFF CENTRAL! ...ok now that the obvious is out of the way... this is a conveniently located grocery store located right outside the national park gates (and the watchman campgrounds, where we stayed). it has most of your camping needs you stupidly forgot to pack. your stupidity is punished with slightly - extremely inflated prices. dont like it? bring yer own stuff or hit up a store off the 15 before heading into zion. otherwise, get over it and be thankful you have an option at all so easily accessible. this is where we bought bundles of wood... typical price ($7) for buying wood near a campsite. you are not allow to collect wood to burn in zion so suck it up...esp if you had limited car space and couldnt pack with you. its the fast-burning stuff, so you'd need at least 4 bundles for a weekend of fires. there is wood sold closer to the campsite, and also at the chevon down the way. if you have time, just compare the options. we were told Sol had the largest bundles for the price. this is also where we got meat and veggies to make campfire beef stew- ingredients cost a mere $6 total for 2 people's worth. stew beef, russet potatoes, onion, and some fancy mesquite artisan salt I reluctantly bought but was actually pretty cool. you cant really get cheaper than that for a dinner. 1/2 dozen eggs were a dollar something, thick-cut bacon a few dollars, simply orange juice on sale for $2.99. nothing terrible and we got the supplies for a lovely campfire breakfast. they even sell those hot & cold insulted bags that allowed us to store our cold items long term. THINGS THAT ARE A TOTAL RIPOFF: beer. good god, do not be conned into buying beer there. i think 6 packs of bud were like $10.99. cant remember...but the prices were terrible. we got the heads up that the chevon down the way had beer for basically what you were expect to pay at a normal place. just consider this a grocery-sized convenience store that takes advantage of tourists and the prices will be expected. we were thankful for Sol since we werent traveling with all our typical supplies, due to the long drive and not knowing what to expect for our first visit. read more

I literally walked in and started to see the prices for the food then literally turned around and left. I drove 25 mins down the road to Davis market and payed normal prices for food. Honestly If you're stuck in the area just Go support other food business in town before spending "going out to eat" money on regular groceries. Imagine paying 16$ for two cans of soup. They're just taking advantage of tourists and it's really obnoxious. The pre made food looked good however it's definitely not sustainable to shop there. read more

This place was my go-to stop while on vacation so, my review for it may be different if I lived nearby. It IS expensive, and they don't have much variety for things. But it is the sort of food that appeals to me (generally healthy, organic crap) so I was happy to find it so close to my hotel. Nice store, and well stocked with lots of healthy food choices as well as some gear for hiking. My biggest complaint were the prices, I get raising prices but some things were just ridiculous. A small tin of Planters mixed nuts were $15, Planters peanuts $7, Microwave dinner $9, and Salami for $18. The prices are just ludicrous. My suggestion is to stock before you visit Zion. read more

Found hair in a sandwich. Sandwich was cut in half. Found one strand on one. Got disgusted so ate out of the other. Found hair in that one as well. Decided it was no big deal so I took the hair out and bit into the sandwich and low and behold.... a strand of hair in my mouth. It was like a free floss in your sandwich. Disgusting. 3 stars for the fact that over the course of 5 days in Zion every time I went there was only 1 register open and I waited at least 10 minutes to check out each time. They have a good selection of groceries and supplies for the trip be be prepared to shake your wallet out... lol. They know they have you trapped so prices are considerably higher than a typical supermarket. Bought burgers supplies one night. 2 packs of meat, burger buns, ketchup and a case of cokes and it was 44 dollars.... At that point just eat out. Lots of great restaurants around. read more

At the end of a long day of exploring we were all hot and tired. My 3 young kids were not really in the mood to eat from a restaurant so I just wanted to grab a few lighter, healthier items to offer them once we had cooled off. The parking garage was our first experience with Sol Foods and it was a bit alarming. We happened to enter at a point where several large SUV's were shuffling - one backing up with no regard that we were behind them on the ramp. In the end, it wasn't a big deal. I turned to the left upon entering and was able to get into a spot just fine, but if those spots has been full I am not sure I would feel the same way. I wish there was a sign stating that the garage had only one entry/exit point. I don't think there is another parking option nearby but if there was a sign readable from the entry area of garage would be nice. The store appears clean and well stocked. The selection was plentiful and I was pleased that I was able to find almost everything brand wise that I prefer - gluten free crackers in a specific brand would have been icing on the cake, but I simply don't expect that! There were not any employees roaming to help with questions. Prices were average considering there is little competition and it is located in a small town, less than 5 minutes from the entrance to a National Park. Bags cost, but boxes are offered free! I'd visit again if we needed something, but be reasonable in your expectations about cost. It's not Walmart! In the end I spent $55. I could have spent less but there are some items we are particular about regarding ingredients. I purchased sliced deli ham (nitrate free), 1lb brick of Colby jack cheese, mini club crackers, a small box of mixed cutlery, small package of paper plates, kerrygold butter, 3 chocolate milks, 1 soda, 1 full length fresh baguette, 2 containers of chips, and 1 bag of Milano cookies. 4 stars - only because I wish an employee had been around to ask questions while trying to locate items, and the parking garage was a bit bizarre. read more

Not only is this place a rip-off, I was still hungry after eating this mainly bread sandwich. For the kind of money they are charging, they shouldn't rob customers. Disclaimer: I do most of my shopping at Whole Foods / Traders Joes If you didn't notice from every other review - this place IS expensive. Some items are 2-3x what they would be in other places. For instance Clif Bars that are normally $0.99 are $2...something.. I stopped looking at these items. The item that really struck me as alarming though was the "365" Organic Butter (Whole Foods store brand) for $7.99. This butter is normally ~$4. On the other hand, I bought a box of organic salad greens for $2.99 which is a completely normal price. This place is still more reasonable than the restaurants in town. Sol Foods isn't alone in the price gouging of which everyone is accusing them. As others have noted, Springdale is right outside Zion and as with any tourist attraction the rates are jacked up everywhere I looked. Also this area is pretty much in the middle of nowhere so some of this is reasonable. I can't vouch for the prepared foods here, but I was happy to see some familiar brands to put together a meal. There is good, covered parking underneath the building. Free utensils and napkins are available at the cash register. You can use their microwave that is near the produce. Since I brought most of my snacks and hotel (Quality Inn right around the corner) served breakfast items, I was able to pick up enough provisions for two dinners and one lunch without having to spend even more at local restaurants. Long story short, it was expensive, but a welcome resource. read more

The Canyon Market "does the job" and functions more like a "Convenience Store" in that the prices are higher than average, so not like a typical urban / metropolitan super market but more like a boutique grocery store. You're paying for the convenience of the location. The food here is fresh and they have a good variety. It's an alternative to eating at a restaurant and perfect for those not so prepared who didn't pack their meals and are about to to into Zion National Park. You're probably paying at least double if not triple what you're maybe accustomed to paying, but that's the cost of this convenience. Similarly when you go to events, be it the movie theater, sports arenas, airports, concerts, or amusement parks you will be charged more for soft drinks and foods, it's the nature of the situation, being slightly held hostage to no other options and these places do market to impulse as well as being one of the only options in the area (sure you can drive off to find alternate places, but what you waste in gas and time will equal out most likely), so with their small town and tourist area overhead, their prices really aren't that unreasonable if you think about it. If you're cost conscious, then just remember to pack a cooler and your own stuff and bring it all into town. If you can't be bothered, then this is a convenient solution to an everyday problem. read more

Great selection for a grocer on the edge of a National Park, but the over-the-top price mark-ups knocks them from a solid four for stock and quality to a one--I laughed when I saw a generic black pepper grinder was nearly $10. I understand the only real competition is 20-45 minutes away (depending on whether you stop in St. George or La Verkin, but the owners need to cut the "good vibes," peace-and-love aesthetic if they are going to gouge the tourist clientele like this. read more
