    Tapas
    Sara B.

The only thing better than indulging on Spanish tapas are doing so while sitting on a patio in the middle of Barcelona (with a mojito in hand, of course). After a looong day of touring in the heat, we were ready to sit and stuff our faces. Did a quick Yelp search for tapas and outdoor seating and Sol Soler immediately presented itself as the best option. The restaurant faces a courtyard with a large outdoor area. Because a few other restaurants face the same courtyard there was an extremely lively crowd, and around lunchtime it was great for some people watching. My mojito was refreshing and had crushed ice and was fairly priced at 4 euro - all things that make me happy. I was pleased to see that the entire menu was fairly priced. Most tapas were in between 3-6 euro. We went splits on an order of patatas bravas, ham and cheese croquettes and seafood stuffed peppers. The peppers absolutely stole the show, and came stuffed with a salty and delicious crab. The potatoes were also incredible- perfectly fried and smothered in a creamy and peppery sauce. The croquettes were just okay - we had better over our week in Barcelona. But give me anything that is fried and filled with cheese and I'm not really in a position to complain. I'm taking off a star because of our snarky server. When he came over with our drinks I asked if we could put in our food order and he gave us a snide response about not being ready and being more patient. I think that could have been handled differently, but still wouldn't deter me from going back for incredible tapas and drinks.

Delicious, authentic tapas located at Plaça Sol. Staff were amazing! We ordered beer, Russian salad, Mediterranean salad, olives, sausages, tomato bread, trinxat, and croquettes. Our final bill was 28€. All was delicious and as expected. The only criticism I would have is the warm tapas were a little tepid and the tomato in the Mediterranean salad was mealy -otherwise it was delicious and a great value! Despite the meat tomatoes -the soft cheese in the Mediterranean salad was some of the best I've had! It was so creamy and complimentary! If it was feta -it was the best damn feta I've ever had! At the end, we were given complimentary shots of coffee cream liquor. We will definitely return!

So yummy! Definitely would recommend this time and time again to anyone. Mojitos were BOMB. Highly recommend the spicy potatoes and chicken wings.

Very basic tapas and not overwhelming at all. Several better options around. Service is very slow and ambiance very basic.

Randomly stopped in as we were passing the square. Tapas were really good and service was great. Definitely stop in if you are in the area.

Worse customer service. Servers don't care about you and your food. My food was served cold. I would stay away from this place.

This was recommended by friends awhile back, I remembered the modern ambiance, amazing Tapas, friendly service and the place was as busy then until now. For this big restaurant caliber, it's pretty crowded yet they do a good job with a fast turnaround. We did the early Dinner and by the time we got out there was already a long line for late Diners. The fact that even after a decade, it's rare that I go back to the same spot let alone they're still around after all these years. You already know that tells a lot and I feel bad for those who didn't have the same great experience, hope they give it another shot. See y'all soon! Salut, Vermouth!

Taverna El Glop wraps you up in its warm, lively atmosphere the second you walk in. We were a group of four, and from start to finish, we had an awesome time. The open kitchen is a great touch -- you can watch the chef in action, which adds to the energy and makes the whole experience feel more connected and authentic. We shared a bunch of dishes, and everything was on point. The paella was rich and delicious -- exactly what we came for. The patatas bravas were crispy, creamy, and gone in seconds, and the shishito peppers were the perfect salty, snacky starter. Of course, we had to get a pitcher of sangria (okay, maybe two), which was fruity, refreshing, and just strong enough to keep things festive. The space itself has this great, rustic charm -- complete with checkered tablecloths and even an old cigarette machine near the bar (haven't seen one of those since I was a kid -- aren't those banned in the U.S. now?). I don't smoke -- smoking sucks -- but it added a bit of unexpected nostalgia and character. Service was excellent. I always make a point to be friendly, ask people their names, and introduce myself -- and that's usually met with warmth. It definitely was here. The staff were quick, kind, and seemed to enjoy the place as much as we did. Personally, I loved it. It's the kind of place you remember -- not because it's fancy or trendy, but because it's fun, flavorful, and full of heart. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

The pork belly marinated in lime was tasty but the fresh Mackerel stole the show! The Truffled eggs with foie and mushrooms was finished table-side and was amazing. We missed that the Cuttlefish had squid ink-no matter, so light and exquisite-only complaint would be to have more cuttlefish. Service was engaged and friendly from start to finish. Somewhere in the middle is a 1-2 year period where parts of Spain's community was shut down because of COVID or restricted in one way or the other. We were in Spain during May-June of this year and witnessed various businesses that were no more or maybe still hanging on my a thread. Our recent experience at La Yaya Amelia seemed to suggest the latter. La Yaya Amelia was recommended by our Hotel (1882) and was an easy couple block walk. We made a reservation, but as it turned out we were the only customers during our time there. This seems more like a locals place and it's corner neighborhood location would be hard to attract tourists, unless it were some hot foodie destination. On a side note, the owner's cute little dog charmed my wife, the shelter volunteer. At the beginning, the dog was wandering around and Gayle wasn't sure if he/she had a person. I looked up and told her that we can't the dog back with us to the USA. Her answer (and this wasn't her first dog siting in Spain) was that she'd already done the research and she agreed that it would be almost impossible to do so. But she still stayed on the case until she confirmed that it was indeed the owner's dog. La Yaya Amelia may not be the Catalan version of the French Laundry, but it was a damn fine place to eat. We both ordered off the "specials" list, me choosing steak and Gayle opting for fish. Add wine, bread, homemade dessert, and expresso, we left full and happy. Our service was great, yet the guy running the place seemed a little worn out and sad, as we were the business so far in the evening. So, if anyone is reading this review right now and you're thinking of Lunch or Dinner in the Sagrada Familia area, what are you waiting for?
