I hate to give bad ratings but I think this was a little bit of a waste of money. The paella was in a super shallow pan and the tortilla de patatas was very thin, overcooked, and the onions weren't caramelized. The croquetas de pollo and the sangria with cava were good, but in a place where there are so many options, and where people put such care into the food that they serve, this place was a disappointment. read more

Excellent experience here! our waitress was Filipino and spoke perfect English, it was so helpful. This place was kind of a hole in the wall, we decided to come here last minute and it was a great choice. We had the shrimp, the cured meat, some tomato bread of some sort, split a bottle of wine between 4 people, it was an overall great experience for food. This place was so good that we went back twice, which is so ironic because we only went the first time because La Flauta was closed. It's right off the Universitat metro, so very easy to ge to. We ordered the cava sangria here for the first time and it was excellent. We also had.. Hamburger with foie gras 5/5: Best hamburger ever, even without the hunk of foie on top. So soft and juicy and with a lovely perfect, buttered bun. Mushroom risotto with foie gras 5/5: This dish was really the reason we came back. The risotto itself is heavenly, but with the foie gras it was just a transcendent experience. Patatas with chorizo: 4/5 just patatas bravas with ground up chorizo and a sunny side up egg. Mix it all together for delicious flavors. Patatas bravas: 4/5 crisp and delicious with a great sauce Calamari 5/5: excellent batter and crispy Grilled squid 3/5: a little chewy and needed more flavor other than salt Fried Shrimp: 5/5 These were little shrimp wrapped in wonton wrappers and deep friend. We walked through the Barceloneta area and found Celler de Tapas. The menu of the day for lunch looked good and was extremely reasonable for 9,90 per person. What I liked about this restaurant was the chic and clean decor. In addition, the menu was in English, and the waiters spoke English. The food was delicious! I loved the Mediterranean flavors throughout all of the dishes. The menu came with appetizers, main entrees, desserts, choice of drink (water, soda, or wine), and bread. Appetizers: - Cod coquettes - Delicious fried nuggets. There were also chunks of cod. - Sardines with roasted peppers - Nice to have some fresh sardines. - Fried potatoes with spicy sauce - This was complementary and was delicious! Main Entrees: - Mixed paella - My hubby and I ordered the same entree. The flavors were good as it included lots of squid, mussels, chicken, and pork. I gave the chicken and pork to my hubby. A pleasant surprise around the corner from my Airbnb apartment, this was the perfect choice for my first jet-lagged dinner in Barcelona: friendly and attentive staff, fast kitchen, very tasty food and wine, and excellent value. The restaurant's decor is modern and inviting and offers outside seating. I tried the spinach and goat cheese croquettes, the Spanish omelette with soft sobrasada sausage, and the Azpilicueta Tempranillo -- and would order them again. I will sleep well tonight. read more

This is a good place for some solid food at good prices if you're in the area and need to eat. It feels like a generic casual chic restaurant with generic waiters that you can find in a big city in Anytown, Anyplace, except that you'll get a good taste of the flavors of the city. We got a tasty dinner here - patatas bravas (meh), croquetas (good), tortilla (very good), sausage (meh), paella (yum!) washed down with some beer and wine. I popped in here for a late afternoon bite after doing some banking next door. It was not crowded at all yet we still decided to sit inside. The decor is wonderful, clean, modern, and flows throughout the dining room. The waitstaff were pleasant, helpful, and courteous. The offering was unique while holding onto some of the regional classics and delivered in fine execution and attention to detail. These guys really know what they're doing and a good value for the price. You will most certainly not be blown away but you'll not be disappointed either. read more

Great fast service, delicious food. Had the squid a la plancha, grilled vegetables with romesco sauce and fried chicken with sesame sauce. A glass of the house white wine was perfect with it. I came to Barcelona about two and a half years ago and ate here. I came back for a return trip and made sure we stopped in. The food was just as amazing as I remember. I ordered the potatoes with fried egg and chorizo, the grilled veggies, Iberian ham, and Catalan bread. We also ordered a pitcher of sangria. I was in heaven. Visiting Barcelona, I had been warned it could be hard to find decent food, that one might really have to look around at bit. I stumbled upon this place and really enjoyed the food and the staff. I had the calamari which was wonderfully done, lightly battered and not at all chewy. I like the fact they have dishes outside of traditional tapas my husband particularly enjoyed the chicken skewer with soy glaze and a tasty potato salad. The sangria was also quite nice. Staff were very good. It's a shame the prior reviewer had such a poor experience..I liked it so much I went here twice during my 4 day stay. read more

We'll be back!!! NOTE: I accidentally left my professional Canon DSLR camera in the chair next to me (too much wine?). We flew out the next morning before the restaurant opened. So what's the first thing that I want to do on my European holiday? Why EAT! of course. One cannot visit Barcelona and not try the famous tapas that this city is known for. This restaurant was the first place that we visited once we arrived in Barcelona. We came across this place on our way to go to Las Ramblas. We were hesitant at first because I had read to stay away from places near Las Ramblas because they were tourist traps plus this place was empty with the exception of another couple. I have to say we were very pleased with our visit. We ordered there prixe fix tapas special to share which included prawns, Serrano ham, some tuna dish, squid, patatas bravas, and peppers I substituted the peppers for ham croquettes. My favorite were the prawns they were so good! I also tried the tomato bread even though I knew they charged for this but what the heck I was in Barcelona so I did not mind. Our servers were friendly and attentive and did the best they could with speaking English, which I appreciated because I don't speak Spanish very well. The menus are also in English as well I guess since its so close to Las Ramblas but just far enough away that the service and food was great and not a tourist trap at all. I recommend this place if you are ever in Barcelona and would like a good and peaceful tapas restaurant away from the massive crowds. We found this little diamond in the rough in 2014 and it is on our list to go back to when we visit Barcelona again! Tapas were amazing and great cold wine! I had a fabulous salad there too and am obsessed with the salmon croquettes and tiny fried ribs!! A must if you are visiting. read more

I would say skip this, as there are far better places to eat in Barcelona. We ate here as it was quick option for lunch that was near our hostel, but I wish we had kept walking to find something better. We were first asked if we wanted to sit outside or inside, but opted to sit outside as it was beautiful day. However when we went to order our drinks, the server informed us that our drinks would be more because we are sitting outside. Okay??? But this was never explained to us when we chose to sit outside. After this we waited about 25 minutes before anyone came to take our order. The server kept walking outside and helping tables around us, and even when we tried to get her attention she ignored us. Finally we ordered and the food was good, but nothing spectacular. We got our bill at he end and were charged an extra fee (about 15%) for the patio for all of our food. Seriously??? There was a fee for sitting "on the terrace," which was actually just a section of the sidewalk near the restaurant. We tried to explain to our server that that she did not tell us we would be charged more, and she just reiterated that it was more due to sitting on the terrace. Overall not a great spot - overpriced and subpar customer service. read more

The Tapas were very good. The deserts were excellent and partially kind of rare/unique dishes. The prices were appropriate.

We were very disappointed with the food here. Only one of the tapas (the scallops) was really good, the rest being either just OK or not good enough to finish. There are many other tapas places with better food and better value. My guess is that this place relies on its great location, not the food, to attract people. read more
