My husband was a mess 1 year ago when I dropped him off there, we had family counseling as well as my husband got the counseling he needed to put his addiction behind him. I never thought I'd say this but we are happier than ever! My husband remains connected with his fellow alumni as well as the new guys that come in for help. I felt bad , I looked bad, I had the shakes. I was even heading towards being a wet brain. I just isolated and drank, couldn't Stop. I found M.F.I, went there and now I have my mind, health and family back. I did what I was supposed to do. And I'm doing it now. I have the tools to stay sober. I have a huge support group, I have new friends I call everyday and I see them now. The staff are awesome, they care and love you like family. They are family to me and I miss them. If you have a heart condition or are taking medications that could affect your heart, make sure you ask plenty of questions and understand exactly what you're being prescribed. I felt there wasn't enough attention given to explaining the medications or monitoring for potential risks. What made my experience even worse was that I was asked questions about whether I was undocumented and when I arrived in the United States. I don't understand how those questions were relevant to my medical care, and they made me feel uncomfortable and singled out. I left feeling disrespected and concerned about how I was treated. I hope this facility improves the way it communicates with and respects its patients.
