Chrome gel mani
Ruta G.

Great spot for sugar hair removal! Alison does an amazing job! Another huge plus that they have a nail salon here- saved myself time and also got a chrome gel mani and regular pedicure.

This place is awesome! I called in day of and was able to schedule an appointment with no wait time. The spa is clean, pretty, and it's easy to find parking. The ladies who did my mani/pedi were so nice and took their time. I will definitely be coming back here!

Gel pedicure after initial classic pedicure was smudged and removed.

I recently decided to treat myself to a gel manicure and regular pedicure on a monthly basis. Sol Y Luna is walking distance from my home, so I thought I'd give this place a try. Per their website, they only do nails Wednesday through Sunday, so I sent a text for a Wednesday appointment. Apparently, they no longer do nails on Wednesdays, so they convinced me to come in for an appointment that evening instead. I shuffled my schedule around so I could make it in for the gel manicure and classic pedicure ($65). I came in with the salon completely empty and three employees sitting around. As I was selecting my colors, I showed one of the staff a simple design I wanted: just two simple brush strokes across the nail. All of a sudden, all three staff members swarmed around me. One of them started telling me that, oh no, they don't do design there. She claimed that only salons that do acrylics do design (not true) and that it's only so they can squeeze more money out of me (paying a little extra was not an issue for me). She went on and on about this. Then, she said she probably COULD do it, but she doesn't have time! She has so many customers to tend to! Again, the salon was completely empty except for myself and the staff. The entire "lecture" was uncomfortable and I was spoken to as if I were a child. Not wanting to argue, and since I was already there, I chose a simple pink for my manicure and a burgundy/chocolate color for my pedicure. The lady began working on my nails, sanding down the existing gel manicure I had (which was beautifully done overseas). The gel application process was lengthy, which made it seem as if she was being extra detailed and thorough. Unfortunately, the end result was a lumpy, uneven application. My pinky was also cut. The pedicure, in the meantime, consisted of lukewarm water. I asked the nail technician to not cut down my toenails too much as it's really uncomfortable when wearing closed-toe shoes. He cut down my nails as short as they can possibly go AND my big toe was extremely uneven. The lady who had lectured me took over after that and she tried cutting it down further to even it out, which was extremely painful so I told her to stop and leave it. She took her time painting my toes with three coats of polish. Before I could even move out of my chair when instructed, the polish smudged. It was closing time, so I was worried they'd try to send me home with the ruined polish. Instead, after some thinking, she said they'd have to start all over and quickly removed the polish, and convinced me to get gel on my toes, too, at no extra charge. I wanted a similar dark color, but she insisted I just get the pink used on my hands so it would take less coats and I'd be done faster. Wanting to go home, I agreed. The gel application on my toes ended up looking much better than on my hands. I paid, tipped, and left. Just days later, the manicure started to lift on the sides of my nails. As my nails started growing out, the lumpy application was more obvious. Finally, a week and a half later, a huge chunk of gel polish has lifted and broken off of my nail. I'm not rough on my hands and have had regular manicures last longer than this. My experience at Sol Y Luna was poor and I would not go back. The work is mediocre and the treatment I received was not pleasant.

Gorgeous work by Tina

My new favorite spot! Allison and Henry are great, always welcoming and always making sure customers leave happy. Tina is my fave nail girl by far. I found this gem after living in the neighborhood for over a year and glad I did. Organic products, high quality gels and selections. It's hard finding a place that provides service and quality these days and Sol Y Luna Spa does. My nails typically last me 3-5 weeks and occasionally we get goodies while waiting on our nails curing :) thanks team!

After visiting several sub-par nail salons, I found this gem in my neighborhood less than a year ago and have been coming here ever since! Henry and Allison are always so welcoming and make you feel at home. Tina always does my gel manicure and she does an amazing job! She's very meticulous and a perfectionist which I really appreciate. I always walk out extremely happy with my new mani and pedi. Not to mention that the polish lasts forever before any signs of chipping!

Gel mani going strong after more than a month

These guys are awesome. I should have written this review preCOVID. But I have even more evidence for how good they are. I got a gel mani on Feb 28 and it's still amazingly chip free! I wish I had someone other than my husband to see how good these nails still look. I also wish I knew how to get the gel off once the bottom of the polish inches up further. Here's hoping I don't totally ruin my nails when the time comes to try removing this. And here's hoping Sol y Luna is going strong post COVID.

I can't live without them! To say that Allison is amazing at what she does would be an understatement. The eyebrow threading... So precise and fast. She actually listens to what you want and they always come out perfectly. I rather have two caterpillars up there before I let anyone else touch my eyebrows. The bikini waxing/sugaring... Can you say spectacular?!! She is so damn fast and leaves everything so smooth. It's never easy to go through this but shes so fast the pain is minor. Not only does she do a great job but she always has a way to make you feel so comfortable. She knows how to hold a conversation without being overbearing. And last but not least... THE NAILS!!! I mean, oh my goodness she's good!! She administers the polish so precisely while still being super quick. She always makes sure you leave with the most beautiful nails. My gel manicure usually lasts 2 full weeks with almost no cracks or chips... It never lasts this long when I get them done anywhere else.

Shattered glass nail design.

I've been going to Allison for 10 years and have recommended her to countless friends over the years. Allison is undeniably the best.

5 stars hands down for both the quality of the waxing services and the amazing experience this team…read moreprovides. I've always been super scared about getting a Brazilian despite my relatively high pain tolerance. I decided to bite the bullet by booking with Erin after a long day at work. In all honesty, she made the experience so much easier and relaxing even despite the pain and discomfort that comes from these waxes specifically. Upon walking in, she instantly greeted me and was super welcoming. I used the bathroom before my wax to calm my nerves and walked into such a pretty and pink glittery bathroom! Not gonna lie, it was a pretty good distraction lol. Like any person would, I was pretty nervous but I decided to go for it because of the results. It was so worth it. It does hurt, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be. Your first wax always hurts the most because obviously you don't know what to expect, but it does get better after the first strip. I have to say though, what really helped ease my nerves was how chill the whole environment was. The staff makes every client feel welcome, and in my case Erin was super friendly, thorough, and overall such a vibe. It made the entire experience feel a lot less intimidating. They also have complimentary snacks and drinks and initially I passed on them because of how nervous I was, but after my session, best believe I ran to the snack station. As an SF native, I am proud to say that I will be returning to reWAXation as a regular! I am so glad I found this gem. Thank you to Erin and the team for making this experience so much less daunting and a bit more fun!

I got baited into this place by their Instagram ads for the new client special $30 brazilian all…read moreover my feed. I said, hey why not? Might as well give them a try. I booked on their website and did not pick a specific esthie but just said "anyone." Mostly everything is done online (forms). For the new client special you have to upload a picture of your photo ID into their system. I wasn't too thrilled about this as I don't like the thought of my ID being in their database. Cyber related incidents are on the rise now a days. I had my sensitive info stolen from my old CPA and fraudulent tax returns filed under my SSN before so no type of business is safe. A day before my appointment I got a text from one of their workers basically telling me that I hadn't confirmed my appointment and to do it before EOD otherwise my appointment would be cancelled. The text was sent with a bad tone. Kind of like, "you better do this or else" type of tone. I frequent several establishments that are appointment based and only one other place has told me if I didn't confirm the day before that my appointment would be cancelled but they warned me of this policy ahead of time so I already had a heads up. On the day of the appointment I got another text from someone there reminding me to do my forms before coming in. They really love reminding people through text over here. They also send you a text about 15 mins prior to your appointment to check in and then another text with the door code to let yourself in to the waiting room. They have drinks and snacks there for you while you wait which is a nice touch. Artrecia was my esthie and from the moment she called me back she had a very off putting attitude. I don't know if she was just having a bad day but it for sure seemed like she hated her job. Conversation with her during the service was minimal. I felt like I was doing all the talking and just getting short answers from her. It really was the opposite of what some people said about her personality in other reviews on here. Artrecia waxed me pretty quick which doesn't necessarily mean that she did a good job. I was actually expecting that she did a mid job based on her attitude alone and I wasn't wrong. My boyfriend later on examined my brazilian and pointed out at least 7 patches that Artrecia missed. Some were on the front part so it's crazy how she missed those. She didn't go in with tweezers or do clean up strips afterwards to get the spots she missed. Nevertheless, I still tipped her $10 which I feel like she didn't even deserve for the mid brazilian she did on me. Now I'm wondering if I'll ever come back. One thing is for sure, if I ever do, I won't be going back to Artrecia.
