This neighborhood salon is a pleasant place to get a pedi and watch the J Church roll by. I can only speak for my own experiences there, I get a pedi every time and I've always been pleased. It is well done and lasts for weeks. I always have Nancy as the nail tech and she is lovely and very kind. It is a pleasant space with high ceilings and windows to let in the light. Such a cute little nail shop run by aunties :) They were so sweet and kind. They always checked in to make sure you were ok. Nail quality was just okay. For $50 it wasn't "bad". Tip Top Nails is back in business! They are operating by appointment only, which is really nice- no waiting around. If you are super risk-averse, I recommend the regular manicure. You're sitting at a desk with plexiglass shield, everyone wears masks, windows are open and it's not crowded. The spa mani-pedi is going to be a little more out of the comfort zone if you've been quarantined since March. Everything is very clean, uncrowded, and done with care. Just go! I decided to ignore the reviews and give this place a try. The owners are so kind, but I will not be a repeat customer here unfortunately. It took 45 minutes for them to remove my previous gel manicure as they only used a thin nail file and very thick/dull cuticle pusher to do so. They essentially gave up and just painted over the left over gel so the nails are clearly bumpy. They also didn't shape my nails so I did that myself when I got home. Again, they are so sweet, but the quality of service just isn't there when there are so many other options in Noe. read more

Affordable and great mani pedi! They are short-staffed while I was there, so I noticed people had to wait a while to be serviced at peak hours. Sorry, it's changed owners and Lynn is still there but she doesn't GAF. The new owner is always complaining. There isn't enough help. You have to wait then they stop in the middle to do a wax. Used to like this place, but would rather pay more to get more. They need to hire more/better people. Stop complaining. Get it together so that customers are happy. Do they sanitize the equipment? Not sure. They are supposed to use a fresh scrubber each time, but don't. Wish I could say better things, I really do like the ladies but over the bad service read more

1. I mainly come here for underarm waxing. At just $8 it's the best legit deal in SF. 2. This is in the Bernal/ Noe so the clients actually tip and are please at unlike many other salons that charge about the same prices.... 3. The mani is ehh due to the paint finish, but for $28 combined with a spa pedi I can't complain. 4. Not sure when I will return for the mani & spa pedi, but the underarm waxing alone is something I will definitely comeback for. Overall my visit today was due to stress. PTSD ain't fun & needing to get my 2 hours sans doing any favors or bookwork is nice. It's a very reasonably priced place that works for me & the clientele ain't rough. Call me vain or high maintenance all you want but getting a mani and pedi is part of my weekend ritual. Seeing that I spend my weekends in this part of the city I found the need to search for a nail salon that knew how to do French manicure right. This place is clean for the most part. I see them cleaning the instruments after each use. They do a great job with my French mani. It's cheaper than other places. The service is friendly and yes they do move fast but it rarely shows on the job they've done. I have yet to have a complaint. Hey if I'm not close to home at least I have a backup plan. read more

I have been going to Lynn for full leg and bikini waxings for close to 20 years now. She is fast, relatively inexpensive, does a GREAT job, good conversation, always has people magazine (favorite). The service is fast, I'm in and out in 20 minutes! I'm always amazed when I have to go to another salon how long they take - Lynn has her system and it works. there is now a curtain up over the doorway into the room, so that when she goes out to grab the hot towel at the end, you have your privacy. The best time to go is near closing time on a weeknight. Just had a pedicure done after the gym and it was great. There was only one other lady who was getting a mani. I did the 'spa' chair, which was soaking my achin' feet in hot water and sitting in a massager chair. $16 can't go wrong! It's always nice to go when there isn't a rush of people waiting, the ladies there take a little extra time and care on your feet. It felt good to get my feets and my calves massaged. I have been there on a crazy Saturday and they pack the people in. Definitely not the best time to go, because you feel rushed (no time to laze in the spa chair) and they are rushed too, which sometimes means that the pedi experience is not the best. Regarding cleanliness, I've had no problems (knock on wood!) there. Since I was there at closing, I saw the ladies Cloroxing out the foot baths, vacuuming, and cleaning up the stations. The ladies are always friendly. I definitely go here all the time since they are a 10 second walk from my place. And since it is slippah' season, I gots to have the pretty toes! read more

I've not had my nails done many places, but they always use clean utensils and wash my basin with soap. They do a much better job than I do at home, are cheap and friendly. Worst experience ever. Rushed me and rushed through everyone else. They blamed me when the gel manicure I got looked awful. They didn't massage at all - not pedi or gel mani... I expect top coats of polish on both gel mani and regular pedi. My gel mani looks matte. They didn't use a hot towel or anything. I will never go back. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I get monthly pedicures and this has been my spot since the beginning of summer. My cousin is a regular at Noe Valley Nails and after a trip to Lovejoy's down the street we decided to try Tip Top out. Van did a great job and gave my nails a great shape and even repainted one of my toe nails after I foolishly messed it up on the way out the door. The staff are all friendly and they have a pretty decent collection of OPI and Essie colors. I have been back several times. I made the mistake of going to Noe Valley nails, and although the women were very friendly, I could have painted my toes better in the dark. I have been going to Tip Top - Lynn and her girls have always provided me with an excellent mani/pedi - even waxing. I've been a fan since 2000. They are all friendly, very VERY reasonably priced and always pleasant to me. I"ve never felt like they were talking about me or making fun the way I sometimes have felt at other salons. I always walk in and have rarely if ever had to wait - even for a wax! She does a great job of having plenty of woment to manage the client demand. Won't be going back to this place. I could see that this was no-frills, but I figured it was fine because it was a cheap mani+pedi, only $23. The mani and pedi weren't great. My manicure was particularly sloppy. The icing on the cake was when my bill came out, it was $27 instead of $23. I asked why I was charged extra and they said it's because I had a "spa pedicure." In their minds, sitting in a pedicure chair is a spa pedicure, which is a standard for any other nail salon I've seen on this planet. A "regular" mani and pedi means you sit on a chair and someone does your manicure out of a little tub. Absolutely absurd. read more

This place is much like the others around the Church/24th Street/Noe Valley center. However, I've been trying a lot of them out to find one where the women were nice. Seems pretty basic, but a happy attitude goes a long way. At other places I've felt like the women were conscripted against their will. Tip Top is relaxing and the women are really friendly. I used to be a regular here, but when I got into Gel manicures, they just didn't have the color selection. I came back yesterday because I wanted just a straight manicure, and you can't beat the $9 price. Unfortunately, it seems I got what I paid for and less than 24 hours later it has already started to chip (luckily I used my own color and can reapply as I see necessary). The women who work here are VERY nice. Sometimes I feel that they rush through the manicure if a lot of people are there, but yesterday they definitely spent some solid time on my nails. So even though the polish is chipping, the rest of the manicure was great. Lastly, I want to believe that they are using clean tools here, but I have to admit I am not fully convinced... read more

I can't believe I haven't written a review for Tip Top Nails because I've been coming here for years for mani/pedi's and enjoy the people who work in this establishment. Their "no-nonsense" approach to getting people in and out quickly is appealing. I've had my nails done in the South Bay and the peninsula and have to say this is the place I like best. My nails are trimmed perfect and the polish is smooth with no streaks or color left on my skin. My feet and hands are soft, no hang-nails, they are truly professional looking and I am pleased with their services. Van often does my nails and I am pleased with her skills and patience when dealing with my ingrown toenail. The people here and their skillset gets an 'A'.
