A friend spotted a yelp deal (pay $5 to receive $10 off) for this facility, so i decided to give it a try. Located on Mission Street in San Francisco, i feared that the street parking situation was going to be terrible. Turned out i got lucky and got a spot right in front, though i can't speak for that being the common trend. The facility has a total of 4 manicure stations and 3 pedicure stations. When my friend and I entered, there was one client with two staff working (mani/pedi), and one other person waiting. Though we called ahead for appointments, we were waiting, as there were no other nail technicians available (just those two). After 20 minutes, three other employees magically showed up and we began. Pros: receptive and personable staff members free street parking (2 hr zone) free wifi and tablets at each manicure station many albums of nail art to look at for ideas Tony was able to replicate fairly well a design i brought in. Very detail-oriented and checked with me frequently to make sure i was happy with how the design was turning out. Witnessed them clean out the foot bath after each use. There is also a hand sanitizer dispenser at the front. Hand and foot massages with Cons: Small facility, not necessarily in the best of shape. Long wait even with an appointment, and no employees around initially. It might just be me, but i was surprised that they didn't have a plain 'grey' nail color. i had to settle for a sparkly silver, which was not the style i was looking for. Got pressured into getting shellac (it came out great, though) Witnessed my friend get a lot of pressure to get a manicure (she only came for a pedicure) They don't have disposable slippers - if they move you, be prepared to walk barefoot (gross) [tip: if you're having a pedicure done, WEAR SANDALS!] I ended up forgetting to use my yelp deal and paid full price: $50 for mani/pedi with shellac and design. I don't know if this is an average price. I'm half and half on whether to return or not. read more

Customers all knew Staff, which made it a cool social environment. This was the fastest I've ever gotten a set, yet she still took her time and went over each nail looking for any imperfections. She checked in with me 3 times to make sure I liked her progress. Super cute Halloween vampire designs. The shaping is perfect, pointy, and was exactly what I wanted. First time @Golden Nail Salon, it was quiet I went a Monday evening. I called in like 20 minutes ago for a acrylic gel Fill. Idk who was the lady that shaped and filled in my nails. But she didn't do a very good job, she fioff a small piece on my thumb. And I did say " that you're filling a little too hard." And she gave me the most dirtiest looks ever, and it's only Monday. Thank goodness that Tony came in and finished filling and panting my nails. He is very sweet and funny, and he listened to me how I wanted to get my nails done. Overall the end results is good. This review is a long time coming. Golden Nails has been a community business for us. Tony, Van and Rose are incredibly sweet and care about their customers. They are always courteous and seem to have a great relationship with their clients. Tony takes his time with my nails (full set/fill) and they never lift. (He's a perfectionist) Both Van and Rose do great pedicures. Regarding COVID practices- they take a quick temperature check when you come in and ask you to use the hand sanitizer at the door. Additionally, they have partitions and have the required distance between customers. We usually find parking within the block. Always a plus! read more

They offer you tea or water with crackers during wait time, they have many designs and fair prices, the waxing is always on point and the employees there are so kind! The two girls that were in the store at the time were very nice and welcoming. I enjoyed my time being at this nail shop, but the only downfall is that the gel manicure I got only lasted 3 days until it started lifting and chipping. Gel nail polish is supposed to last up to 3 weeks! How unfortunate. Seeing other girls' reviews about their gel polish lifting too, I am not the only one with this problem. There is a lack of quality in their gel polishes they use here. If you're okay with your manicure only lasting 3 days, then I would suggest coming here. I'm came in with my roommate, she needed to just have a nail take off and she's sitting here in pain because they aren't even asking whether or not she's hurting. It took her to ask to put more asitone before she could finish the last remaining nails. I usually get my eyebrows waxed so waxing is not new to me. The woman who did mine today though was overly aggressive. Way too aggressive to be on someones face with hot wax. She kept plucking away like no tomorrow and when putting on the after oil she kept rubbing it in. First and LAST time coming in here. read more

Alright, so I've been here twice so far and I'm about to go there for the first time this weekend (my mom has to get her nails fixed). First time: I got gel/acrylic because I wanted my frenchie nails ;) Went here with my best friend because she says it's the cheapest place around. Our nails came out with $25 each which is not bad at all. The thing with mine is that I felt like the lady rushed through my nails a bit and there were spots where it was pointed? But she ended up buffing it off for me so whatevs! Also, it started coming out pretty quick, like within my two weeks. But I think this was just me because my friend's didn't come off and hers just grew out. I've always been bad with powder gel which really sucks because they're only pretty for so long, then they start coming off on the inside and hook onto my hair (worst shower experiences for dayyyyys). And that's what led to my second time here! Second: Came here after my index fingers gel nail came out (lolol, I know. Super rachet). I was just going to do a regular manicure and let it be but I ended up doing Shellac. At first I was really frustrated because my mom and I literally waited for almost a whole hour but that was because only the two owners were working today, it was new years, and we hadn't make an appointment so let me stress this -- MAKE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE ON A TIME CRUNCH. They gave my mom and I a little discount for the wait which I really appreciated. And it was my mom's first time doing her nails so she was really excited. They told her to come back if the gel came off a bit within a week (which they did, so that's why we're going back this weekend haha) which I, again, appreciate. So overall, even though I was frustrated and grumpy, I would still come back here but I'd just make an appointment ahead of time because I am not waiting that long anymore. SURE NOT. I can't say the nails are super perfect and amazing but I like them for what I pay. The shellac nails were suppose to be $25 and they generally come with the GNS manicure but I think that felt rushed too soooooo, IDK man. haha If you're looking for a cheap place to get your nails, definitely go here and again, MAKE AN APPOINTMENT! I got white tips done here for $23 and they didn't last more than a week and a half. The girl finished my nails in 25 minutes but my usual nail lady takes up to an hour. As soon as she put the top coat of nail polish she said "you can go". I told her no I'm not leaving until my nails dry because they'll get ruined. She sat me down for 15 minutes and then touched my nails and said you can go. I've never felt so uncomfortable and rushed. I gave this place 2 stars instead of 1 because the prices are cheaper compared to some salons. But I would rather pay $10 more for better quality and a more relaxing/ welcoming experience. read more

I always get compliments on my brows and refer her to my friends and they end up satisfied as well. Super cheap! Got the $15 pedis with my mom. My one complaint is that I called in for an appointment for 2 at 4pm and we still had to wait. They were busy but I don't like the feeling of wasting my time when I should have been prioritized with the reservation anyway. Besides that, you REALLY CAN'T beat this deal! I bought 2 of the Yelp deals, $5 for $10 worth of services. Because we got 2 $15 pedis, our total was $30 but, with the 2 yelp deals, $10 x 2 was covered ($20) so we only had to pay $10 in the salon! We paid $20 total for two pedicures, you can't beat that! The ladies were nice and the chairs gave better massages than other pedicure salon chairs I've sat in hahaha. I visited about a year ago when I lived nearby and the pedicure lady cut me so badly on my big toe, I developed an infection and had to an irritation that caused pain when walking for two months. Last week, I decided to give it another shot since it was a Saturday and the day before Christmas Eve. The same lady was there and began my pedicure right away. The manicurists were busy so she did my manicure also. Both looked so horrible and were cut into embarrassing shapes with thick polish globs and looked worse than before. I was also filed very aggressively and she drew blood from my middle finger. This is terrifying because the facility is so dirty and the tools are probably not sanitized. Of course the gel started peeling off completely that night. Three whole nails in one peel! I came back the next day to have it fixed and the woman that fixed it had grains of rice and chicken from her lunch all over the table, and was just flicking it off as she was working. She also coughed directly on me without covering her mouth. This is so unsanitary and as a cosmetologist also I will have to call the boards. The fixed nails peeled again three days later anyway. I believe the guy who helped me name was Tuan and I really like the work he did on my nails. I got a full set and I really appreciated the time and attention he gave them and he also said if they were to get messed up in the next few days I could go back and have them fixed. I also had my 6 year old daughter with me and got her a gel manicure. She loved it and I apprecited how he tried to give her the whole experience rather than just rushing her work since she is a child.
