In many areas, the club shines - its strength and conditioning equipment, instructors, and health programming are unmatched and, most importantly, I've met great people. As good as the club is, and no doubt, great things are happening there, it's really expensive - and the last several months I have constantly been questioning if I should be paying what I do. I mentioned in my first review in July I felt the club was slipping. No question I have, and deserve to have, the highest expectations for this place but that comes from them. They promise us an "athletic country club" experience and charge for it - so I expect them to deliver. Over the last year, this club has been dealing with a serious member trend related to its big ticket item - the men's rejuvenation suite in the locker room, consisting of a hot tub, cold plunge, dry sauna, and wet sauna. Quite often, it's a wreck - as are other sections of the locker room. Wet towels and trash crumpled on the floor and in seating areas and in corners around this section of the club. There's sludge on sections of the floor at night after the big rush. Many of the men members of this club are acting like slobs - and Life Time isn't keeping up. I feel like the maintenance crew tries hard, but I've also seen them blow past the suite without even sticking their head in for a status check - as if they have other priorities than one of their biggest competitive advantages when it comes to amenities. I really feel like Life Time without this is mostly a four- or five-star facility - but this issue knocks it down several pegs. It's exhausting.

They have dozens of scheduled classes everyday that cover a wide audience and fitness range. The group fitness class space that's right off the stairs on the second floor is amazing. Taking a 6 AM class and watching the sunrise is a treat and great way to start the day. The instructors are all super nice and personable - it seems like they genuinely enjoy what they do and want to get to know you on an individual level. The outdoor pool area is by far the best part of the membership in the summer. I'd consider a luxury set up with how nice and clean everything is, plus drink and food service that comes to you. Does not feel like you're at a gym at all. The only con is how ridiculously expensive it is. They offer a lot for the price, but it's hard to justify paying THAT much unless I was there for multiple hours everyday and taking advantage of every amenity. We ended up discontinuing and left, but I'd recommend touring it if you're a committed fitness person.

The equipment is all very new and perfect for the college student! a place to put your books, a TV to watch, music to listen to all while running on a treadmill, or walking up 89 flights of stairs on the stair master! The track is 3 lanes and wide enough for people to walk and run 9 laps for a mile! Me and my roommate try to come as often as possible, and we love the facility here. A lot better than LA fitness or 24 hour fitness. The gym is vast and there are always enough machines to use. They also have rock climbing, billiards, indoor and outdoor basketball courts, ping pong tables, outdoor sand volleyball court and even an indoor and outdoor pool! There is so many fun and creative ways to workout here, and I'm never disappointed. It does get busy at times (as expected) the most busiest times are at the beginning of the semester and around 7ish or so (when everyone gets out of class) even though it's crowded, there is always something to workout on. There is just so much equipment and so much resources. I also took the group classes with my roommate it was $30 for a whole semester of group classes (yoga, piloxing, zumba, hip-hop cardio, total body pump, etc.) We absolutely loved the classes and the teachers of the class were fun and lively. The MAC is also a great place to study! If you're an extrovert (like me), this is a perfect place to study. The booths are nice and spacious, but they are hard to get (because everyone wants one) they also have many tables and TVs and a lot of people which is always fun on my study break when I want to people watch ._. There are also a lot of computers for you to work/study and even print things. UTA was certainly looking out for the best interest of their students when building the MAC. It has a fit family feel, which sometimes just isn't there in the bigger corporate gyms. This isn't just a competitor's gun, either. I've seen all types of folks in this gym, too. Whoa. I can't believe I'm the first review of this place!…read more BIG note - just because it says Golf Fitness, it doesn't mean you have to be a golfer or anything to take a class here. I was initially hesitant when I signed up on it through Class Pass. Also, it may be a little hard to find, but it's next to the swing shop. More recently, I have scaled back my Class Pass membership to only 5 classes a month. Right after that, I found myself back in Dallas for 4 days. 3 out of those 4 days, I went to see Dianne (the trainer I have worked with from the beginning), and I do not mind having spent 3 of my 5 classes of the month at AMPD in a span of a week. The workouts are challenging - you will be sweating. The staff is friendly and helpful - Dianne's a friend in the few short months I've known her. The other guys there are also friendly. You can tell that they're happy to be there and enjoy working with each other. Overall, I'm really happy that I didn't cancel my first class. :)

The music sounds depressing and it's played through an intercom system. But it's the only full gym on the side of town. It closes a little too early. You are sharing with Hotel guest. That may not know what they're doing. So I only maybe recommend it. The few positives include: You can probably find the equipment you're looking for. It's not overly crowded, unless there's a convention of annoying people in town like yesterday. They keep it clean. Generally, I feel it's overpriced for the value. But again, it's the only one on the side of town So get a tour and figure out if it's for you.

It took me about a month to get enough response back from the manager to join. Once I joined I emailed several logistical follow up questions and have never received a response. As far as I know there is no email newsletter or online schedules. I went to one class so far and there was no one attending, I arrived right at the class time and the teacher was packing up because no one was there. Like I said, from an equipment standpoint, there is everything you need, it is not the top of the line, but everything seems pretty well-maintained and in working order. Access to the hotel pools is also a plus. But it does not feel friendly at all, you are kind of left alone to figure things out. I came from very communal gym membership environments so it is quite a change.
