My tuition money to going to a great facility if its going towards the MAC! I come here (I try to come here lol) 2-4 times in the week and every time it has yet to disappoint. The equipment is all very new and perfect for the college student! a place to put your books, a TV to watch, music to listen to all while running on a treadmill, or walking up 89 flights of stairs on the stair master! The track is 3 lanes and wide enough for people to walk and run 9 laps for a mile! Me and my roommate try to come as often as possible, and we love the facility here. A lot better than LA fitness or 24 hour fitness. The gym is vast and there are always enough machines to use. They also have rock climbing, billiards, indoor and outdoor basketball courts, ping pong tables, outdoor sand volleyball court and even an indoor and outdoor pool! There is so many fun and creative ways to workout here, and I'm never disappointed. It does get busy at times (as expected) the most busiest times are at the beginning of the semester and around 7ish or so (when everyone gets out of class) even though it's crowded, there is always something to workout on. There is just so much equipment and so much resources. I also took the group classes with my roommate it was $30 for a whole semester of group classes (yoga, piloxing, zumba, hip-hop cardio, total body pump, etc.) We absolutely loved the classes and the teachers of the class were fun and lively. The MAC is also a great place to study! If you're an extrovert (like me), this is a perfect place to study. The booths are nice and spacious, but they are hard to get (because everyone wants one) they also have many tables and TVs and a lot of people which is always fun on my study break when I want to people watch ._. There are also a lot of computers for you to work/study and even print things. UTA was certainly looking out for the best interest of their students when building the MAC. It has been over a year since my last review, so I think it is time to update this review. I still come here at least twice or more per week to workout with the (now famous) Joey, the best personal trainer at the MAC (perhaps, the world?). Of course, as you already know, the MAC is huge (YUGE) gym. It has just about any type of equipment, including a pool. But, did you know they also have, along with personal trainers, a rock climbing room (yes, an entire room), a whole indoor soccer field, two running tracks, massage therapists, nutritionists, and even group exercise classes that include self-defense, karate, and wrestling? And, like most gyms, there is a locker room with PRIVATE showers. As for equipment, the MAC has just about everything you want from three or four different types of ellipticals to three or four different kinds of stair climbers (a Jacob's Ladder), to four or five different types of treadmills. Plus, a bunch of machines I don't even know what to call. The point is, if you are looking for it, this place probably has it, and much, much more. The MAC is also the spot for all of your intramural sports, like soccer, wrestling, and power lifting. But, that's not all. It is also the spot for poker (no money), video games, and other similar non-exercise related intramural "sports." The MAC also has multiple computers with both a black and white and color printer, along with vending machines, a small market that sells snacks, drinks, and of course, scantrons. There is also a Wells Fargo ATM machine and game consoles (I think all of them). You just go to the front desk and check them out with your ID, the same place you can check out sports equipment. In the back area, there is also a cool activities room that has pool tables, dartboards, study areas, table tennis, and TVs If you are an alumni or a student, this place is probably the best deal around. For students, it is free and for alumni, it is relatively cheap. And, it is relatively laid back, except in the heavy lifting areas, those guys are serious. Again, my only issue is the $10 (per visit) for guests. Not everyone is a student or alumni, but I still may want to work out with them, without draining the bank. I have said it once, and I will say it again, "The MAC really should consider making this a more reasonable amount or at least giving out a few free "bring a friend" coupons or something." It has been over a year since my last review, but my opinion has not changed. If you're a student, it's a no brainer, go here. If you are alumni, the MAC should at least be on your gym short list. read more

Good place to go to work out or just do some extra activities. Included for students at UTA so its worth going. You have to use your student ID to swipe in, but if you forgot it, thats okay because you can use the hand scan to get in. Which you can set up at any time. They provide a towel for you to use so when you've been sweating you can pat yourself dry. There's basket ball courts inside and outside, and during different days of the week, they will put up nets in the back basket ball court inside for either volleyball or badminton. They have indoor soccer, rock climbing, billiards, and racquet ball available. If you don't have any of the necessary equipment to do any of these activities, you just have to go to the front desk to rent it out for a bit. All of their workout machines are on the second floor of the building with an inside track, for those who prefer that over a treadmill. Dance rooms are on the first floor for different classes that are available like yoga, or for anyone else to use if they need to practice anything with a big mirror. There's locker rooms on the first floor so you can change and keep your stuff there, or use one of the new lockers in front of the dance rooms or on the second floor by the work out equipment. A lot of stuff is provided and it's worth going to when you want to work out or you have free time to waste. I am very pleased with this place. read more

Great place to workout, has a bunch of other activities for you to do, it has a track, indoor basketball, sand volleyball, indoor soccer, outdoor basketball, rock climbing wall, billiards, game consoles, indoor volleyball, ping pong, need I say more. Only downsides are it gets pretty crowded during the semester and you have to pay if you're not a student, but I guess thats at any gym. read more

I am an adamant lover of nature and do all my cardio outdoors but since I have recently moved to Arlington I don't know of any great places to go for a run and hurt myself badly trying to run on the cracked concrete near my apartment. So I had to give in and take my runs indoors somehow. The indoor track above the basketball court is an amazing alternative if you have to sacrifice nature and there is plenty of cardio equipment so you're not standing around waiting. They also have extensive weight machines, rock wall climbing, etc...pretty much anything and everything you would need. The women's locker room is very well kept you can rent out lockers by the semester or school year at a small price. Good job, UTA, well worth my tuition. read more

I love going to the MAC.. it has facilities for many things! You can used the computers or study. There is a huge gym that I like to go to! And also many other facilities such as the indoor and outdoor pools, rock climbing walls, pool tables, basketball courts, racquetball courts and also indoor soccer court. On certain days you can also play badminton at the MAC. The studios there are mostly used for group exercise sessions which are awesome! You pay $30 for the whole semester and attend as many classes as you want! The MAC is a great facility for UTA! read more

This is the best fitness and Sports facility I've ever been in my life. Im not saying this because I'm a student of this university but for its Friendly people and wonderful atmosphere that motivates you... The music they play is kinda dumb and outdated, dats d only reason I've given it 4 stars !! Students must go, especially if your changing your lifestyle to the live fit movement. Currently smer hours in effect but still plenty of this me to work out. Lots of benches(incline, decline, flat and adjustable) set up around the gym. The adjustable ones line the dumb bell rack. 2 squat racks(tower style). 1 Olympic platform. Then the rest are cable type machines, treadmills, and bikes... Cardio stuff. My favorite is the 1/8 track, I hate cardio machines and enjoy moving at my own pace. I typically run sprints mixed with bouncy jog steps. Come get fit at the MAC and say hello if you recognize me. read more

I've been to a few different gyms before, and I believe this place is one of the best in the DFW region. There's a location for every type of sport that you enjoy, an upstairs weight room, and many assortments of elliptical machines and treadmills. The front desk also has equipment to rent out for all sports. This activities center has places to study on the first floor, along with computers and TVs to enjoy during your leisure time. I think a day pass is about $7 for guests, but if you are a UTA student, you get in for free. It's a really great place to hang out or workout. Indoor and outdoor swimming pools are available, along with a small rock climbing center. Overall, a really great activities center. Much cleaner and upgraded machines compared to other universities that I've been to. However, the rock climbing walls are significantly shorter and smaller compared to the ones at UT (in Austin). I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're wanting to do rock climbing, but for other activities, this place is great! read more

The MAC is great! The cardio machines have tv which really help me get through that long hour! They offer towels and have wifi. They have plenty of bathrooms and the list of equipment is endless. The only thing they are missing a sauna, maybe. I love the MAC! read more

The MAC is fairly new and is always kept pretty clean. They offer free work out towels and let you check out different sports equipment from basketballs, soccer balls, volley balls and ping pong balls to racket ball rackets, table tennis paddles, jump ropes, and weight belts free of charge. This place has indoor basketball courts, volleyball courts, indoor soccer gym, 2 indoor tracks, badminton, table tennis, sand volleyball, outdoor basketball, a small rock climbing wall, billiards, and Foosball. There are tennis courts and a small field for soccer next to the MAC, as well. There are 4 rooms with mirrors that have group exercise classes. There are a bunch of cardio machines like StairMaster, elliptical machines, and different treadmills. they have a free wight area with mirrors, dead lift area, speed bags, punching bags, cycling corner, cross fit training equipment, medicine balls, exercise balls, foam rollers, and much more. They also have tables, booths, couches, TV's, and gaming consoles and games that can be checked out. The front has a bunch of computers and print stations, as well. Some of my friends like to study at the MAC. There is also a small market with drinks, sushi, fruit, bars, etc. There is a microwave in the front, which is convenient for a post workout meal. The locker rooms are pretty nice. The women's side has lockers for rent and day-use lockers for free. There are plenty of showers, changing areas, and restroom stalls. It also has hand dryers that can be altered to blow dry hair. There is a scale in there as well that can measure your height and weight. Students get in free, alumni get a discount, others can buy membership or can buy day pass for about $7 or $8. read more

I've been coming to this gym since the week it got opened, I am very pleased with their service and always look forward to playing basketball here. I refuse to sign any other gym memberships because this place is simply the best. I occasionally work out with friends and the gf. The competition for basketball is always a blast and it is what keeps me from moving to another gym. read more

I love this place! It gets a bit crowded in the afternoons, which is expected. They have quite a bit of gym equipment for being part of the school, and they have a wide variety of group fitness classes too. I really like the Zumba one. They are open for the majority of the day, and they have a pretty amazing track that you can run indoors. They have a basketball court too. You can keep your stuff in the lockers until the end of the day if you bring your own lock. There's showers too if you bring a towel. read more
