It's decent. Targeted towards kids. My chunky monkey peanut butter shake was not club sauce. It was God Dog Monkey Wackadoodle. Soooo much peanut butter. Not creamy and smooth. Thiccc. Kids loved their ice cream. There is also connect 4 out front and painted rocks. Very family friendly. Decent stuff.

Good service and really good shaved ice that is probably on par with a lot of tropical shaved snow places. I think my kids really loved it. They give a really large size and portion. It is about eight dollars per bowl and they do have a lot of other varieties like soft, serve toppings they have cookies but again it is a little bit pricier because of location and I would say that the flavor is on point. Maybe next time I'll try the other flavors and also try the ice cream.

We stopped in for a sweet treat after hiking Annie's Canyon on a hot day. I was craving a shave ice, and this was the closest location nearby that had it on their menu. I was able to choose that to three flavors out of a list of about 15. My one complaint is there is just one size for the shave ice. The girl behind the counter said she could make it smaller, but it would be the same price, so I thought that was kind of dumb. For one person It is a pretty large serving size.

Solana Frosty was a bit of a letdown for us. We came specifically for the shave ice and didn't try anything else on the menu. Unfortunately, the shave ice itself just wasn't great. The ice was very hard instead of light and fluffy, there wasn't nearly enough flavoring, and it felt overpriced for the quality. The portions were comically huge, which sounds like a good thing, but it actually worked against it. Even after adding sweetened condensed milk, the flavor barely lasted about a quarter of the way through, and the rest was just plain ice. On the positive side, the service was nice and friendly. I really wanted to love it, but sadly the shave ice didn't live up to expectations.

Solana Frosty quickly became a favorite spot for local residents and school kids. Owned and operated by a local family, it offers a variety of frozen treats such as soft serve, milkshakes, shaved ice, and classic ice cream flavors. My kids love getting cotton candy ice cream or chocolate-dipped soft serve in a cone. The business is still new, and they're working on improving customer service. It can get quite busy in the afternoons

This Solana Beach Plaza corner suite used to house a Subway store. Solana Frosty now occupies the space with a plethora of frozen treats as offerings. There was no inside seating, however several tables were outside on the sidewalk. The parking situation was fine as this plaza wasn't bustling with customers. Four menu screens were mounted high and to the right when you walked in. The variety of items was impressive for a small operation. Soft serve and hard scoop ice cream, floats, milkshakes, splits, boba milk tea, Hawaiian shave ice, sand buckets, and dirty drinks were the main categories. I selected the shave ice which allowed up to three flavors to be added from the fifteen choices. My trio was guava, lilikoi (passionfruit), and mango. The quality of the shave ice was good as they had a machine that grounded the ice block into a powder. My issue was the serving size for the $7 price. On the islands, the businesses are much more generous with the portions. A large cup or cone of ice cream was only $6.50 so for fluffy ice flavored with syrups to cost more was disconcerting. That was the reason why I limited the rating of my experience at Solana Frosty to three stars.

New addition to Solana beach and let me tell you, the kids (and adults alike) couldn't be happier! Every time I drive by, it is always busy with all ages enjoying a wonderful nostalgic dessert. They've got soft serve, ice cream, fresh dipped cones! Did I mention Fresh? FRESH DIPPED CONES! Milkshakes, shaved iced, banana splits...you name it! And they also have different freezer options for those of us watching our weight. Very considerate. It is very small inside and the staff is young. There is no designated line but the staff does their best to serve their customers. There are tables outside where you can enjoy your treat or you can take a short walk to Fletchers Cove for a view. Overall, so excited this is here for the nostalgia but not my waistline.

Friendly local ice cream Solana Frosty! Service is friendly and ambiance is clean. Flavors are limited but my Rocky Road is a favorite! Thank you!

Took my girls after school and they were super excited that there was a new ice cream shop in the area. Pros: 1. Owner, Kristen, was very nice and made the experience great. 2. The girls loved their dip ice cream selections (cotton candy and mint chocolate chip/cookies and cream) 3. Free sticker for kids! Cons: 1. I'm still on my New Year's resolution to lose a few lbs and had to stay strong. 2. Still don't have any in my belly...

Same classic ice cream vibe as its sister location, Pepper Tree in Vista, but logistically they've got some things to work through. Ordering is chaotic, with no defined line or waiting area. Inside is small, and unlike pepper tree, there's not much space to wait so you're basically forced to hang out outside. It would help if they had a speaker to call out orders. Portions are smaller and inconsistent for the soft serve. I watched 2 orders in front of us get super baby dipped cones before my wife got her small, which was a little bit bigger, but not much. Staff still seems like they're trying to figure things out, so we'll be back once kinks are worked out.

    He obviously approves...

They have a large amount of things to order from. Shaved ice, soft serve, and scoops with lots of toppings to choose from. They are adequately staffed which is hard to find nowadays. Lots of parking and a block from the beach. Give it a try!

So good! Nice full menu to choose from on a warm sunny day, but I do actually wish the servings were smaller.

This would have been an average San Diego coffee shop experience for me, except for the fact that I absolutely LOVED the cherry bomb! It's a cherry mocha and essentially a perfect drink for me. Back in 2019, Starbucks had a seasonal cherry mocha for Valentine's Day that I was obsessed with. Apparently I was the only one, because they haven't brought it back since. Cherry mochas are hard to come by, and I haven't really encountered another one. This one was delicious! The espresso was bold, the milk perfectly creamy, and the overall taste not too sweet (unlike Starbucks'). Wow!! I can already tell this will be a drink I daydream about. Unfortunately it was $7.50, which will prevent me from indulging very regularly. The rest of the menu is pricey too, with avocado toasts nearly reaching $20. (I may be a millennial, but I can certainly understand the negative stereotype when I see coffee shop prices like these.) Besides pricing, the other downside of this place is the limited seating. There were only 4 small outdoor tables, so unless you're with just one other person and you arrive before 10am, I'd suggest grabbing your coffee to go and taking a walk. My friend and I sat down, since there were open tables when we arrived. She enjoyed her iced honey cinnamon latte. If you love a cherry mocha or are looking for coffee in the design district, definitely come through!
