Got Watts installed two phases of solar panels on my roof, 67 panels in total. The job was massive,…read morethe price was fair, and the follow up service was excellent. There were hardware glitches after installation, but the Got Watts team reliably spotted them - without me realizing there was even an issue - and sent teams out to ensure my equipment worked as promised. Years later I noticed some leaks through my roof where some phase 2 panels were installed. I notified Got Watts and they sent large crews to my home to rectify the issue over several days. This was no small fix. They probably spent vastly more to rectify the leaks than they did to install the panels to begin with. No one likes to have problems with an install. But, it means a lot for a contractor to honor their commitment and spend vast sums to honor their warranty, and their word, to their customer. I've had "good companies" make promises they wouldn't honor once the initial check cleared. Got Watts was true to their word and treated me in a dignified manner that is rare these days. They opened a gate and did not close it after them. They do not wear any company logo on clothing or company trucks. They came in private. Looked like they were just individuals off the street..

I could use more power but since my original installer went bankrupt, I have been unable to find a company to work on adding panels economically. Each company contacted wants to sell me a new system, which is not what I want, need, or afford. We went back and forth on this a couple of times in two or three separate calls and came to the mutual decision that the cost was not worth the additional "juice" I would get. Unfortunately, much of this is a result of both inflation (rising cost of materials due to tariffs) and the withdrawal of rebates and other benefits to installing solar. I still firmly believe installing solar is the correct thing to do for our environment and our world. I truly appreciated Diego's honesty in being upfront about the cost. For this reason, although it did not work out for us, I highly recommend working with this company if you want to install solar panels.

After getting multiple bids on the project and the system that I needed, this company was able to do it right. They quoted me a reasonable price for the design, whereas other companies pushed leasing, which cost more over time, and others wanted to charge way more for the system because of the rebate increase. Missing leading customers, overcharging, and lacking the best financing options. Daniel, however, was very reasonable and professional, explaining it step-by-step. He did exactly what he said he was going to do. He was able to get the system up promptly and was very professional, as I have a newborn at home. It wasn't inconvenient when I asked questions, and he would respond even if he had a long day on other projects, which I appreciate. I cannot say the same about others. I thought the others were trying to make a commission and even wanted to contract parts of the job like Bird shielding. Which for the price is ridiculous. Having East Bay Power Systems design install and certify a rooftop solar panel system has been a…read morewonderful experience. Working with the team (Darlene, Jeff, David etc.) to get the system designed and installed was very easy, they took care of everything, including getting the city to approve the design/installation for PG&E. Installation was a simple one day process, and best of all, we were essentially off the grid the next day. Interestingly East Bay Power Systems use American made solar panels (Aptos) and an American made power backup system (Tesla). Not only does the system perform flawlessly, because of there high output of the Aptos solar panels (up to 450W per panel) the whole array of 10 panels is virtually unseen. As an added bonus, they set up a Tesla app on your phone so you can see at a glance how mush power the system is generating, how much is being used to power the house, how much is used to charge the backup system and how much power is being sold to PG&E. For a system this good, overall cost was relatively low, far less than what I was quoted 5 years ago by two different companies. You may have noticed all my reviews to date on Yelp have been 5 star, this is deliberate. Life is too short to focus on that which does not make us happy. This is why I restrict my reviews to those things/places/services that make me happy and appreciate life. Sure, I have been to some really dreadful shops, hotels and restaurants etc., but, like I said, life is too short to spend time thinking and writing about them.

I got answers from Darlene that did not make sense. Sometimes her computer was down other times her phone was down. Sometimes she would call to give me a message only to realize that she had called the wrong customer. Did not enjoy working with her. Finally, Kara engaged and we got the Permission to Operate about two months after the install. Supposedly Jeff (the Business Owner) is no longer with the company and has gone back East, so not sure who is leading their future efforts. For future customers: hang on to a portion of the payment till the Permission to Operate is received not just the installation.

When this first happened, my system wasn't producing any solar power at all. Since then I've had multiple technician visits, a lot of emails and text messages, and the same problem keeps coming back. After a technician comes out it might work for a day or two, then the production drops again. Months later, it's still not producing what it should. To be fair, communication was actually pretty good in the beginning. My emails were answered quickly and appointments were scheduled. But as time went on, the responses became slower and slower. I found myself having to send follow up emails just to get updates. At one point I was told they would keep me posted about the next appointment. After more than three weeks without hearing anything, I had to follow up myself. The next appointment wasn't offered until after I reached out. One thing that really frustrated me was being told my system looked fine because there were no alerts. That was hard to understand when the system was clearly not producing like it had before all of this started. I even explained that it would seem to work after a technician visit, then the production would drop again shortly after. After months of dealing with the same issue, I asked for my case to be escalated to management. That request wasn't even acknowledged. No one responded to it. No manager reached out. It was like I never even asked. The whole time this has been going on, I've still been making my monthly solar payment while also paying higher PG&E bills because my system isn't producing what it should. I have every email and text message saved from this whole process. This wasn't one bad appointment or one repair that didn't work. This has been months of temporary fixes, waiting for the next appointment, then finding out the problem still isn't fixed. At this point I honestly wish I could have the whole system removed and get my money back. I never expected buying solar to turn into something this frustrating. I gave Citadel every opportunity to make this right. I was patient because I know things can go wrong. Joseph completed the work in under 4 hours, but needed to return the next day to correct headboard installation. Perhaps 5 hours total. The unit looks great. No complaints. I will definitely call Joseph for my next handyman project. Joseph is knowledgeable, fast, cleans up work site, offers to help and he was able to respond the same day so we would have a place to sleep that night and he returned the next evening to finish up.
