Here's my Journey!!! Why are you on Yelp searching for Solar Companies? If you are like me, it was to find the best price and a company/contractor that was going to be honest, trustworthy, and reliable. I did not want to invest this much money and feel like I was another pay check or I got ripped off. It took me 3 years and 10 quotes to finally feel comfortable to make a wise educated decision on investing in solar. I first started by looking into big companies like Peterson & Dean, Future, etc. I learned that they are pricey because they are a big team (i.e. knockers - people that knock on the doors and try to get you an appointment, salesman - try to sale you on the most expensive unit because they get a commission, installers, secretaries, etc.). These companies also spend a lot on advertising, so their overage is high which causes their prices to be high. They guarantee their work and that they will be in business for a very long time so you feel comfortable enough to spend the extra money on them. The truth, it is not worth the investment to go with a big company. The panels you buy are guaranteed for 20-25 years by the manufacture, unless they go out of business. So that's not a real guarantee! The company/contractor guarantees their installation for 10 years, unless they go out of business. That means if your roof starts leaking or a panel comes loose they might fix the roof, if they feel it is there fault, and if they do not feel it is their fault good luck trying to prove it. So that's not a real guarantee. The only thing you are guaranteed is that you will spend money, the equipment and installation may have problems, other than that you are hoping for the best. Accepting this fact, I started to view Solar panels like very expensive batteries. I am using these expensive batteries to run the electricity in my house and be free of an Electric Bill from PG&E in the future. The panels are guaranteed to work for a certain amount of time. At some point, they will stop working or a few will go bad and need to be replaced. Someone will have to get on my roof to change some Solar panels out. There will be plenty of Solar Technicians in the future to replace my panel for me. Plus, the technology is changing so fast my panels will be old and out-of-date soon. So really, I am paying for someone to get on my roof, install mounting brackets to safely secure solar panels, at the least costly price. I am looking for someone that I can trust to guiding me through the process in making this large investment. So, I began to research smaller local companies. I looked into the top 10 Solar companies/installers on Yelp in the Fairfield/Vacaville area. I found better prices than the big companies, but I still did not feel comfortable. They seemed to talk to me like it was all about money and guarantees. Finally, I met Danny. He educated me on equipment, price, installation, YROI, and guarantees! He is a small business owner that takes the time to educate you about your decision to invest in Solar. He is honest and easy to speak with. He keeps you informed about when the equipment is coming being delivered and when the job is going to be finished. He really puts you first as a customer. Since he has background is in sheet metal, he even fixed my leaking gutter for FREE-99! I am writing this nice and respectful review because Danny earned it. I am not a family member or a friend. If you are considering getting solar for your home, I would highly recommend using Danny with Mirador Energy. We recently had him install a 7500w system on our home in Vacaville and have nothing but positive things to say. He is very knowledgeable, reliable, hard working, and just a really good guy! Everything went smoothly from start to finish. Our project turned out great and we couldn't be happier. Danny is also very reasonably priced. If you are a skilled DIY'er and interested in doing some of the install yourself, he is willing to work with you on reducing the overall cost of the project. We opted to have him do the complete installation and it was still very affordable, even before you consider the tax rebates. Not only have I been impressed with his knowledge and work ethic, but I have also been able to observe how he firmly stands behind his work and the products he recommends and installs. Danny and Mirador Energy has been excellent to work with. They started out by giving us an extremely reasonable quote. Danny was not pushy and didn't act like a salesman but rather just treated us like friends and explained his setups. We were looking for a solar system with a battery backup. Due to Covid, the batteries were hard to get so he worked with us to split the job up to setup solar first then later come back when batteries were back in stock. He did a good job keeping us informed during the process which was nice because our house is a modular home which required a different permitting process which took forever due to the office being in Sacramento. He and his team worked through the process and continued to check in with me. Later when the batteries were back in stock Danny checked in. Scheduled a couple days to have the battery show up and perform the install. They were super conscientious of the fact that we worked from home. I highly recommend Mirador Energy. Mirador was the fourth company I contacted to install solar panels. It is a small company, so you don't have to deal with sales reps. Danny, the owner, is very knowledgeable and experienced, making great recommendations regarding configuring the system. I'm a general contractor and appreciate dealing with a company that is professional and delivers as promised, and being able to deal directly with the Danny, the owner/contractor who is doing the actual work. The panels were installed on my shop and Danny is taking care of everything with PG&E to add the house meter to the system so that the power produced by the panels on the shop will be credited against electricity used on that second meter. He quickly responded to every question and concern before, during, and after install. The whole process was very quick and painless--the solar system was up and running within 4 weeks of my first meeting with Danny! I have been researching and pricing solar for a couple years. My original plan was to purchase the equipment myself and hire a contractor to put everything up for me. I also checked pricing from the name brand firms to do the complete job. I found Danny after a short search and contacted him for a quote. He replied fast and spoke with me for almost an hour to see what my needs were. He came over to survey my house and give me a quote. He encouraged me to do the whole job myself and provided a price that was well within my budget. I pulled the trigger and paid the deposit on 18 July and had the plans in my hands at that time with the equipment arriving on 01 August to coincide with taking some time off work. I finished in 5 days, passed the inspection and received permission to operate from PG&E on 17 August. With Danny's outstanding help I was able to complete the whole process and start producing power in under a month at around 1/3rd the price of the name brand companies. I conducted a through review of many Solar companies. I had 9 different companies give me their pitch (over 40 hours of conversations) and was overcome with the differences of products, vendors and mostly cost. It seems that each company was so quick to tell me about the big tax break that I would receive if I installed their overpriced solar system. So after much delay I spoke with Mirador Energy and the owner Danny seemed much more interested in providing me with the best plan that would fit my family and our energy needs. Mirador was the first company that was fairly priced and Danny was very knowledgeable on the products he offered and the work he would perform. My system has been up and running for almost a month, the project was completed on schedule and my PGE PTO (Permission To Operate) was received exactly when Danny said it would be. I shopped around with many solar companies and chose Mirador Energy. Danny the owner was very knowledgeable, down to earth and most importantly not a hard sell. He was efficient, the work was done as promised and the end result was beautiful. I have minimal conduit running down the side of my house and what was showing he painted to match. I also like the fact that he put the meter behind my fence so it is not visible from the street. I was so impressed with him that I had him put solar on my rental property too.
