We had backup battery systems installed at two different homes--one in Napa and one in Marin--and had an excellent experience working with SonoMarin Solar on both. That project went so smoothly that we later asked them to install a battery on our older, more complex Marin system as well. Recently we needed our roof panels cleaned to try to wring a few more kw out of the system -- on short notice Ray came out went up the roof and then single-handed, did a great cleaning job that should serve us well. Overall very happy with the team at SonoMarin Solar. Nick was both our salesperson and installer (with a team of course) for a roof stop solar installation in the town of Sonoma. We had an issue on install with a single panel that ended up being dead on arrival, and while it took a bit to get it replaced (supply chain is a mess right now and solar is in huge demand), Nick made multiple trips back to test, replace inverter, and eventually replace the panel. Long story short, you can trust this companies warranty on parts and labor... which matters a lot - especially since the issue I had wasn't their fault. Worse yet, we saw the President and CEO of PG$E state there will be many more forced power shut offs in 2020! Having added air conditioning to our Mill Valley home in 2017 (climate change is here) we wanted a whole house generator. After having two electricians give us multi-page estimates with all sorts of options; we were totally confused and had the bad feeling we were going to ripped off if we went with either. Enter Sonomarin Solar & Electric. Their great Yelp reviews caught my attention. Dino arrived at the appointed time, went through a list of our appliances that needed PG$E. We wanted a whole house Generac generator. Dino said we could go with a smaller generator if we didn't want to have A/C - A/C is now a must for us. Next day I received a turn-key, all inclusive, estimate for our project from Avner Daabul, the owner. Due to the demand for generators and running the plans through the County, we were about six weeks out. Avner kept us in the loop through the units delivery. Plumber came on the date and time designated, they even attached a new earthquake shut-off valve. Avner and his assistant put in the 200 amp Generac service box, ran all the wires through stainless conduit to the generator; all wired up. Couldn't attach gas until inspected by the County. Generac Generator Installation Avner installed a powerful home generator for our family a few weeks ago. This generator automatically switches on in case of an electrical power outage. It runs on the same natural gas line that supplies our other household needs. When the electricity is restored, it automatically switches off. Cool, huh? When we received a letter from PG&E informing all of their customers to be prepared for potentially extended electrical outages, we wanted to do something to protect ourselves. I dealt with Nick and Ray from SonoMarin and, I had a great experience with their company and the service they provided. I had a solar system with a backup inverter and batteries that weren't working when the power would go out. I couldn't find any company to come in and fix my system without replacing basically the entire system batteries, solar panels, and inverter. SonoMarin was able to fix the components in the existing inverter that were failing and they got my old inverter working. It was awesome that I was able to keep the same inverter which saved me a bunch of money. The batteries unfortunately were no good and had to be replaced. It was a win though because they replaced my old batteries with new batteries, which had more capacity and took up less room. Plus they made sure that the warranty from the battery company would be in good standing even though it was being hooked up to an older system. So now I have a warranty on my batteries for x amount of years which I didn't have before. Plus I got to keep all my existing panels and didn't have to replace them which was awesome and saved me a bunch of money as well. They were always punctual, and professional, and had great communication with every part of this process. Plus all of their work looks seamless, very clean, neat, organized, and performs great, for a reasonable price. I apologize to Nick and his team (Avner) for being so delinquent in writing this review of his company and their services. They recently installed a whole-house generator for us and about a week ago we had a no-notice power outage, the generator kicked in automatically and we switched from commercial (PG&E) to generator power seemlessly. Nick was very easy to work with he listened to our needs and made the proper recommendations. Additionally, he worked all the permit issues to include research and procuring the required sound blanket to meet the city's noise ordinance. Nick, went out of his way to ensure that the placement of the generator was within guidelines and was economical. (A previous quote from another company was over twice the cost and included having the generator on the opposite side of the house necessitating gas lines being rerouted, electrical work and on and on). The work area for the generator install was left as clean if not cleaner than when they arrived. Nick, also took the time to explain all the functions of the generator, its maintenance schedule, and other safety features. Lastly, Nick helped to secure the extended warranty for the generator, at no additional cost. Horrible service. I attempted to call about the purchase of a generator for a home solar / battery system. Because I dont need installation and a complete system, only a generator, the person over the phone wasnt willing to help me. I asked multiple times for any information they might give me on generators they use and he continued to tell me he wouldnt help me because they dont sell individual units. I recommend anywhere else for your solar needs. The company called me back and started to complain about the review I left here. Then finally explained how they dont sell the type of generator I was looking for. Why couldnt they have told me that when I first called and explained what I was looking for? I asked that question and was told they did tell me that. I guess telling me they dont sell individual units means something different to me then it does to this company. Again, if you need a solar system go somewhere else and dont even try to ask them for any helpful information, I was told that I wasnt even a customer to them unless I sign a contract with them. read more

A week ago this would have been a 5 star review for the whole house generator installation I coordinated for my elderly parents in Novato. Dino was very friendly and helpful when coming over for an estimate and Avner and his crew (Nick, Eddy, Eber and Jose) during installation were on time, worked hard, friendly and courteous. Avner was also very good on communication with me about periodic updates via email. We were all very happy until we got the final invoice that appeared to have a very high permit cost and we knew we were responsible for the permit cost. When I questioned the permit amount, Avner told me permits vary from $160-$2000 and can even be different on the same street. I contacted the city and got a copy of the final invoice and discovered it was ~$500 less than what we were being billed and forwarded it to Avner. I would have been OK at that point if I was told we made a mistake, you are correct here is the correct invoice. But instead I was told they made 2 payments and he provided a city detailed invoice from a 1st payment they made but I was only given a total amount for what they claimed was their 2nd payment to the city (this ended up being the total city invoice for all work done). I went back to the city and got copies of payments 1 & 2 that SonoMarin made. We were being billed for an invoice of the total cost from both payments but also billed a 2nd time for the first payment SonoMarin made. Avner apologized and the invoice was corrected and reduced. A company needs to do a better job on their billing and invoicing and do a little digging and research on permit fees they paid, especially when a customer is questioning costs and even provides a total invoice cost from the city. I should not have had to track down these invoices from the city and once I did, it was obvious to me that invoice #1 and the final invoice had several duplicate descriptions and several identical charges. read more
