This review is likely biased. Someone from solar sesame called me claiming that they have some federal funded program to provide free installation. I was looking for solar solution and was open for a consultation. Took a couple of tries, I met with someone from solar sesame. This person showed up wearing solar sesame tshirt. But I don't see a badge or business card or anything from him. So the deal presented to me verbally was that I got free installation and they cover everything for free (funded through federal tax incentive somehow). Instead, I only need to pay monthly bills to them for about $118. The deal was only valid for that very moment. I have no time to think. I was pretty annoyed at that time. This had turned into something not quite right. The person got his mgr on the phone, who claimed him to be a real estate agent also and asked me to stay and spoke to the rep. I had to go after an hour of chat.... and was unwilling to continue the conversation and asked them to send me something in writing and I need time to think. I ended the conversation. I asked some of my friends who got solar panel and they pay $11 per month to PG&E and only need to pay $15 per month to their solar provider. To be fair, they all paid for the upfront investment to get the system setup. I never got anything in paper from the company. I don't know what this is. I was never able to find any reference about this mysterious federal credit or incentive. I also don't know if I am dealing with someone legit... I am tempted to call the police on this... feeling quite unsettling about this. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]After posting this review, I received a response and service at my residence.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While the company still maintains that the incompatible breaker installed was not an issue and didn't pose a safety hazard (although a city inspector, electrician, and Google confirms this) the breaker was replaced. They troubleshot the Tesla battery and said it was due to a firmware update missed on the meter collar. This has yet to be tested and confirmed. My house has a large, south-facing roof, which was large-enough to hold 27 solar panels; so that's how many were installed by Solar Sesame! Wow, in September of this year (2025), it was generating over 8.5 killowatts of power at noon-to-3 PM. Solar Sesame also installed a beautiful Tesla "Power Wall" battery that can store about 10+ killowatt-hours of Energy (Energy = Power x. Time). So, during the morning, the rising sun produces electricity from my panels to recharge that battery, which discharged during the previous night, after the sun went-down. Then, during the afternoon, the passing-and-setting sun "exports" my panels'-produced electricity to PG&E, who pay me back for the energy that I "exported" to them! However, during the entire day, some of the panel-produced electricity ALSO fills my home's electrical needs until the sun goes down; then the battery-stored energy supplies my home during the night. IF my home needs more energy than the sun / weather allow during the 24-hour period, then I "import" electricity from "the electrical grid" and pay PG&E for that amount, since I am still connected to "the electrical grid". During the previous summer (2024), my PG&E bill varied between $930- $660, from September-November! This year, since my panels started producing in September 2025, my PG&E bill was never over $160 (September-November). Of course, with my 27 panels and Tesla Power Wall battery, I am paying Solar Sesame a fixed monthly amount of about $340. However, as PG&E continues to raise their price for electricity.....the benefit of adding solar generation-and-storage to my home will continue to increase over time. On the negative side, doing such an upgrade to my home proved to be just as time-consuming as would be any-other major home-improvement project: I signed my Contract with Solar Sesame in August 2024 but didn't start producing electricity, from my panels, until September 2025!! As multiple contractors, such as roofers, and suppliers, such as Tesla, are involved, material procurements and building permits take time to get in-place. Then, since there are more people wanting to add solar to their homes and businesses than there are available contractors with-which to do-so, you must be patient with the "reality" of the situation; I'm an Electrical Engineer who spent my career in the Defense industry, so this time-consuming process is not to be unexpected... In conclusion, Solar Sesame did an outstanding home-upgrade for me and I'm sure that they will do the very-same for you, if you choose to give them "a shot"..... Steve Berbick ... Writing this review six months after getting our solar and battery system installed by SolarSesame, and we couldn't be happier! We were a little nervous at first about whether solar would actually save us money under PG&E's NEM 3, especially since another company had recommended a solar-only system that would've only cut our bill by about 30%. SolarSesame took the time to walk us through everything and explained why adding a battery was key under NEM 3--and they were absolutely right! We also have some shading on our roof, and they suggested going with Enphase microinverters and batteries instead of Tesla's string inverter system.
