As I said, according to the official roof inspection when I bought my home...the roof was solid and had no leaks, (ANYONE who has bought a home knows what an inspection entails), plus we had a few storms prior to the solar installation without incidence, I highly doubt all the leaks where a coincidence with the solar being installed.... I guess the roof decided to leak along with the trail of tiles that magically broke. OKIE DOKIE. No need to request any documentation at this point, I would never want you on my roof again...repairs have been made elsewhere. As for your "non" aggressive sales...your potential customers will experience it themselves. read more

Unfortunately, we experienced the worst thing that can happen when having this kind of solar installed, and how a company can behave when things doesn't go according to plan. Based on reviews we chose SolarTech and accepted an offer for solar pool heating. As many reviews here show, in the beginning they were super friendly, and the project was finished on time. So far, so good. The solar was installed in December, and we were a little disappointed that we after 2 weeks did not experience the 80F we were promised when signing the contract. Actually, it took several months before we got there. The next winter it was somewhat better, but we have never experienced 80F during winter time. Then things got bad. The coming fall we had terrible leaks on the side of the roof the solar was installed, and on the other side just where the pipes came down to the pump. We contacted SolarTech and they came out pretty quickly to fix it, resealing some of the bolts. They were totally surprised and told us that this never happened. Unfortunately, it did happen again a few months later. They argued that it could not be the solar installation that was the problem, but that my husband had been on the roof putting down an extra layer of shingles before the installation, to avoid leaks. They were aware of this, being informed in writing, and inspected the roof before their installation without finding any problems. My husband was a carpenter and knows what he is doing. And, most importantly, there are no leaks any other place than where the installation is. The leaks follow the bolts in the roof, through all three bedrooms. SolarTech refused to help us with the leaks, as Ashley wrote in an email: "We were out in July 2015 to check this issue before. We did have JB Roofing meet us there and seal some nails/holes. The leaks you have are not from the pool solar panels. This was determined last year when we were out" They did send an inspector, though, and suddenly they were willing to come back after all. HIt turned out some of the bolts where rusty, proving that water had actually come down around them, and that the sealing around some bolts were broken. SolarTech moved the panels over and reinstalled them with new bolts. SolarTech claimed they did it to be "nice" to us even if they considered themselves not to be responsible for the leaks. The leaks got somewhat better, but it was still leaking in all bedrooms. We argued that there might still be holes in the roof where the old bolts had been, but SolarTech disagreed and would not do anything more about it. Our carpets were ruined and indoor walls and ceiling needs repainting. We had to have the roof tarped while trying to get a dialogue with SolarTech and figuring out what to do. In the end we decided there were no way around, we had to have the roof re-done before we did the repairs inside. The insurance company would not cover anything due to faulty craftsmanship and the extra-ordinary rain storms. We asked SolarTech to cover some of the costs, they refused. Now we are left in a deadlock: The new roofing company will only give the 20 year warranty on the roof if they reinstall the panels. But, we do not dare to have the solar put back, being afraid we are going to end up having SolarTech refusing to take responsibility again if the solar doesn't work properly after another company installs it. The roofing company, who also does solar, informed us that leaks are common with these kinds of installations on the kind of roof we have and with the bolts that were initially used. SolarTech "forgot" to mention this risk in their eager to sell us their installation. The end to the story is that we are left with no solar and $20.000,-., in bills, not including the original cost for the solar. We asked SolarTech if they could at least give us our money back for the solar that now is laying in our backyard. They refused. We discussed the case with our lawyer, who thinks we have a good reason to open a law suit. We told Jason about this, asking him again nicely to at least reimburse us for the solar, but he just said that he would contact their lawyer and take it from there. We are just so tired of the whole thing, having used after 2,5 years and countless hours dealing with this. We don't want to use any more of our time going through a law suit. So, we ended up putting our house out for sale, partly to cover the bills. The fun of having a beautiful, new home is lost. Yes, solar can be a great thing, but sometimes it not. This may be a wonderful firm but we were unable to use them. Reason: read the fine print in their contract. They will tell you that they have $2 mil in insurance, but the contract itself has a limitation of liability clause (what you can collect for damages) of "the value of the contract". In our case that was $3700 quoted for a solar pool installation. It is easy to do more than $3700 in damage to a home if something goes wrong during installation. We asked that the contract be changed to a limitation of liability more reflective of the insurance they carry, or at least to something reasonable (such as $500K), and they flat refused. A major home addition (e.g. solar & battery) is only as good as (1) the equipment, and moreover (2) the quality workmanship/install team, and (3) most of all, the customer service when questions or concerns arise. Even though I had my system installed 2+ yrs ago, as recently as this week, Solar Tech stood behind and assisted me with an issue that I was having with my SunPower equipment. In fact, so helpful and skilled/adept was Elissa Becerra, that she was able to assist me, after my numerous failed attempts to self-resolve a connectivity issue, remotely from her desk. Next door to me, over a week's time so far, Solar Tech installers have ignored regulations requiring barriers to protect pedestrians in residential areas, sending dozens of sharp projectiles along my front walk and right up to my front door. These include thick 4" nails, 6" metal brackets, and 3 to 4 sq in composite roof tile fragments. This did not stop despite my appealing to the installation crew, to the neighbors who hired them (which they now regret), and to the company phone rep. It continued even after demolition was completed. An entire week into this chaotic process, an installer offered to come over to clean up, clearly believing I'd simply left my walk strewn with huge nails for 5 days, and thinking he'd be doing me a great favor, when the fundamental issue is illegally allowing sharp objects to fly from the second story of a house into a neighbor's yard in the first place, endangering anyone in the vicinity. Cleanup is neither a reasonable nor a sufficient response; Solar Tech needs to respect laws protecting public safety. The installers did not issue any warning about flying debris, undoubtedly because they do not acknowledge this as a problem. They are working at a snail's pace, 3-4 hours a day, continually sending debris flying, with no end in sight. Do not hire these irresponsible people. read more

It worked out but it was a very hectic day for us (actual day of the move). Further frustration in that I called the project manager once, and she didn't call back, and then I tried again and her voicemail box was full. To compound matters, the crew that was here on Day 2 said they would return the next day to finish some electrical work (for example, my pool pump wasn't working because they had reconfigured some circuits). When they didn't show up on Day 3, I called the office and that crew was on another job! I told the office they needed to send someone out to finish the work, but then the crew that was coming out here really had no idea what needed to be done to finish the job. I had to tell the Day 3 crew leader to call the guy from Day 2 to get the full story. I conducted a VERY exhaustive bidding process for a ~6kW system (18 panels) and the great Yelp reviews on SolarTech earned them a spot at the table with 6 other companies). Ali came out to my house and was very professional in describing the process and showing me the importance of a quality panel. After knocking out the pretenders, I went a few rounds with Ali and another vendor to get the best price on quality equipment (note: do yourself a favor and only buy SunPower, LG, or Panasonic...I went with SunPower, which SolarTech is an Elite Dealer for). Ali came up with creative solutions to get me the best price on a superior system than the other guys were willing to offer (he will meet or beat any reasonable price). In response to Travis, I am very capable in responding on my own and do not need my husband to respond on my account. Listen, it all comes down to ownership and everyone that we've spoken with from SolarTech (Anela, Grant, and you Travis) that NO ONE was upfront with us and continued to give us the runaround. No one notified us that our contract was cancelled. We found out when we contacted SolarTech recently that our contract was cancelled. If trenching wasn't something SolarTech could do then be honest and tell us that instead of stringing us along with no follow ups. We just wanted transparency and we didn't get that. TAKE OWNERSHIP instead of giving excuses BOTTOMLINE. We are still waiting to hear from the owner of SolarTech but no surprise I doubt we will hear from him. I was recommended from a friend that is very demanding and critical when it comes to customer service and superior workmanship from contractors. From the first contact with the Sales person "Laura" to flipping the breaker it was smooth as silk. I had a good understanding of the process and what to expect, therefor didn't ask to many questions. I didn't need to because Laura covered all aspects of the process in easy to understand language. The company was in constant communication with me via text and or emails. The installation team was in and out in one day!! Eighteen panels installed on my Southeast facing roof, the connections and wiring to the main power panel/fusebox. They cleaned up and hauled away all the packaging and any other garbage related to the install. Every other contractor I've had on the property typically leaves roofing, framing nails and sheetmetal screws that cause flat tires on my vehicles. Our experience was top notch. I was in the repair and service business for 10 year and understand that some customers are never satisfied, no matter how much you try to resolve an issue or concern that they have/create. First I start by saying I had a great experience and would definitely recommend SolarTech as the go to company for anything Solar, Battery or Roofing. This wasn't my first time getting Solar and I thought I would had gone back to the previous company I had worked with to get my solar project done but wanted to get several quotes first. Not complaining about installation, but rather service! My installation was 5 years ago this month. In July, 2022 my inverter went out and only through many phone calls and stern communication was I able to get it repaired. My solar was down for a month which ended up costing me money! Now my roof is leaking due to the rains. It is only leaking where the panels are and Solar Tech is very slow to respond. They sent someone out who couldn't determine the problem and said they would return with a roofer. It is now 4 weeks later and no response. Just left another message with Solar Tech as they didn't answer their phone. Don't know what has changed with the company, but their service has definitely declined. read more

We decided on SolarTech after bids from a total of three companies. While SolarTech was not the cheapest bid they did provide a great product with a warranty that was far better than their competitors. They were responsive, quick to return questions or concerns, and easy to communicate with. Unfortunately the salesman did oversell and under deliver on the automatic control system, which is not compatible with my pool pump. And only one company in the bidding process hit the nail on the head in that category. Timing - We received the initial quote in April, Decided on the them in May, and had the appointment setup for June. Unfortunately they were not able to start until mid-July, and we're still waiting on the automatic controller which they mentioned will not be available until November. Installation - They did have to reschedule on two different occasions. Our contracted date was not reachable, and the second date they chose was not able to be met due to a sick crew. but once the team came out they were very capable and professional. Talked me through all of the work and showed me anything that came up along the way. They were not able to finish in a single day, but came back the next day to complete. Use - So far the system does exactly as they say. Pool warms up in a couple days time, and is easy to use/turn off and on. Warranty - After a month I noticed a main line has come loose and flopped around. I looked for leaks in the roof which there appears to be none, but they offered to have someone out in two weeks time. I will have to plug the hole in the roof with a cement or tar until they are able to come back out to address the issue. But all of the work is covered under warranty. Although we've had our issues I'm confident with SolarTechs ability to execute and solve any problems as they come. I would not hesitate to use them again in the future. read more

I called SolarTech because I needed a veteran-friendly company to inspect my solar panels. The woman I spoke with said they would be happy to help. However, she couldn't schedule the appointment, but instead had to "submit a service request" and said someone would be emailing me within 2-3 days. A week later I get a call from a different woman saying they got my email address wrong. After correcting the email address, she tells me that someone will be following up with me in a few days regarding my request... I told her I thought it was bizarre for all of this back-and-forth just to schedule a service appointment and asked why couldn't we just schedule it during this [second] phone call. To my surprise, she became defensive and repeatedly interrupted me before trying to transfer me to another department. When I asked to speak to her supervisor, she instead handed me off to one of her friendly co-workers who admitted he wasn't her supervisor and began defending her rude behavior. In response to all this amazing customer service and for unnecessarily raising my blood pressure and wasting my time while at work, I cancelled the service request and wrote this review to warn potential customers/veterans of this second-rate company. read more

They had two techs here in nothing flat. They worked very hard and explained what was happening and how they planned on repairing it.
