This spot is amazing, good service and kept coming even though we are by the beach so we are a little far. There is QR code on the tables and they give you paper menu because of Covid. We asked for a bigger table since we are a party of 6 and they accommodated us fast and out two tables together. They are so nice and fast with amazing food. I ate here twice with my girlfriend on a recent trip to Condado and stay at La Concha. We were more than happy both times. We had fish tacos, pork sliders, Latin sliders, quesadillas, yuca fries and all were very good. The Latin sliders, fish tacos, quesadillas, were especially good. The yuca fries were some of the best I have had, ...although I have not had a ton. The beer was cold and I quaffed a few Medallas poolside here. Solera is the poolside tapas restaurant with a full bar at the La Concha resort in San Juan, Puerto Rico. We ate dinner here twice during our vacation in San Juan. And honestly, one of the best meals I had in Puerto Rico was at Solera. It was the mahi-mahi tacos served on naan bread, which are a wonderful fusion of Caribbean, Puerto Rican, and Indian foods. I also visited Solera occasionally to grab night cap cocktails to bring back to our Cabana at the resort. My wife loved the Condado Tropical cocktail and I liked the mojito. Let me start saying that our first waiter was a disaster. The looked like he did not want to be working or serving anyone. He gave us waters and never returned to ask for our drinks, when we inquired what was going on they changed our server... and HE WAS AWESOME. Solera is a what I would consider a standard pool bar that serves the usual suspects of small plates and drinks. There's nothing better than munching on some apps with a nice cocktail while poolside on vacation, and that's what Solera provides. The food at Solera is nothing special. I had the sliders which were just ok, and the Caesar salad which was also just ok. The drinks were standard as well with nothing really standing out from a taste or quality standpoint. The service however was pretty good. Keeping this one short and sweet as there isn't much else to say here. Solera is good for being poolside, but otherwise, definitely worth getting out of the hotel and trying other local places. read more

CHECK YOUR BILL. My boyfriend and I had a lovely dinner here tonight - if I had rated on the food alone, it would have been 3.5-4 stars. The service was a bit slow as others have noted, but not horrible. What was completely unacceptable though was the $10 hike-up on our bill AFTER we received the check. When we received our bill, it was $82 - and we handed our card to the waiter to pay the bill. I noticed he walked towards us three times after we gave him our card and kept turning back to the register area, which was weird, but I thought he might have been forgetful and forgot to swipe the card and had to turn back (...three times). When he handed us the bill back with our card for us to sign/tip, it was swiped at $92. My boyfriend and I were confused as to where the $10 addition came from, and the $82 receipt was nowhere to be found when he handed back the receipt to be signed. We walked over and asked what the extra $10 charge was for - and he said he didn't know. He didn't seem too concerned until we asked him if he would like us to just subtract the $10 from his tip: that got his attention. He then showed us on the computer screen that our bill was in fact $82, and he had no idea how the computer automatically added the $10 -"See it's right on the screen!" Right. The waiter then voided our bill and re-charged us at $82, but I'll certainly be checking the credit card statement as both waiter and manager didn't instill confidence in how they reacted. This is a huge hotel, and I doubt once the drinks start flowing guests generally don't notice a few dollars added here and there. $10 isn't a lot of money, but I wonder how many checks at this place end up with "computer errors" of the like - and if it's actually instituted by management. I'd recommend the food, but I highly suggest looking over your bill both before AND after you pay. read more

To the unknown, Solera is a restaurant at La Concha Renaissance. Menu is not extensive but food is decent... for a poolside bar and grill. Service is excellent at Solera (and the hotel). They will bring your drink in a plastic cup to the pool so you don't have to get out for enjoying it. I probably ordered and gulped buckets of Medalla (local beer) being in the pool; not poolside. A biiiiig 'Like". Since this was my first trip to PR, I can't comment if its a normal practice in other resorts as well. They also have a dinner menu for late evening and nice seating area with large couches which is a great place to relax on hot and humid evenings of San Juan. Cocktails are kindda pricey but being a tourist destination everything is a bit marked up. Although I will strongly recommend their classic mojitos. They make it fresh with real ingredients and not from a mix! If you are staying at the hotel, enjoy your morning/afternoon drinks and food here. But not worth an exclusive trip. read more

We ate lunch at Solera twice while staying at La Concha, and also stopped by a few times for drinks. The food was better than a hotel restaurant's needs to be, without being great. Of the two lunches I had, I thought the steak wrap was better than the chicken sandwich. The french fries were hot, salty, and good. Everything was overpriced. In terms of drinks, my favorite was the red sangria--even though the waiter tried really hard to get me to switch to one of their white varieties. I can only guess why he was so invested in my sangria color choice. Solera: A-OK, but probably a pass if you're not a La Concha guest eating there for convenience. read more

My poor elderly 65-year-old mother was ill all weekend from this food. When my aunt and uncle joined us in PR to help celebrate my husband's 40th birthday, we were at a loss for where to take them out to dinner AND be able to enjoy the outdoor jazz festival going on next door. Solera proved the perfect location. We had a table right next to the zero-entry pool, and coupled by the live jazz in the park right next door and the restored 60's design of this hotel, this was a hot little setting to kick off our week-long trip here on this beautiful island. Baby1 enjoyed her run around the pools and views out onto their beach during our dinner (to my aunts chagrin, as she was not anticipating exercising so much that evening as she chased her around). Baby2 enjoyed Solera's sushi inventions. And Hubby and I enjoyed the fabulous and elegant setting in the early evening of our Saturday night. We also loved the all-white "uniforms" that all the servers wore that matched the all-white surroundings of La Concha. Go, lounge, eat, drink. My husband and I are staying at La Concha for our honeymoon so of course we only felt it was right to have a late lunch/dinner at Solera. The food was great and the waiter was friendly. I did get a sense that the waiters seemed a bit "all over the place". I order the skirt steak and was asked what I wanted on the side to however, I did not received what I asked for. I must say I was happy with my meal as well as my husband who ordered the wings. A bit pricey but your in San Juan so it's a bit inevitable. read more

Poolside guacamole and edamame? Yes please! Edamame was $7 for a mediumish size bowl with the perfect amount of sea salt sprinkled on top. My husband and I also shared the guacamole with root vegetables which I believe was right around $10. It was a perfect light lunch. Haven't had a drink poolside yet from here but they look delicious! The location is great, since it's right in the pool area of La Concha. I was a little frightened by the few pigeons that were roaming around, but they didn't really bother us. The landscaping was beautiful and made for very nice scenery. In spite of the prices, I really enjoyed my food and drinks. The menu was very limited, but I decided on the chicken avocado sandwich, which is something I'd probably never try at home. It was very tasty. My husband is a picky eater and the menu didn't interest him much, so they made him a regular grilled chicken sandwich, which worked fine. Prices are steep but it is a resort poolside restaurant. Watch out because some of the drinks are just way too sweet. The burger is amazing and the fries are awesome - I highly recommend dousing them with the pepper sauce on the table - the flavor is awesome and doesn't overwhelm with heat.
