We've had two terrible experiences in a row at Ninis, we have been going here since the 80s. Something has changed, terrible service and the food has been way below average. Breaks our hearts. Service today we were a couple of 2, tables arriving 30 minutes after us ate and left. Nice decor that was very Italian, service was excellent, price reasonable. However I had Pollo Marsala (Chicken Marsala) which had 'chunks' of chicken in it. Some of them were hard and I could not eat them. I was hoping for a piece of chicken breast or tenders that were softer. read more

Since I moved to Easthampton, a few years ago, we frequently stopped on Saturday nights for pizza. I found, originally, Nini's to be an decent restaurant with a good thin crust pizza although the service is spotty. It always seem that they need an additional server. But, still, it was a nice neighborhood place. Now, wouldn't you think that a small town restaurant would be interested in their customers? I did until last week when I inadvertently left my credit card. I didn't notice it missing until Monday. Although they are closed then, I called and left a voice message about leaving the credit card, and left my name and phone number which I repeated and asked them to call on Tuesday. No call came. In the afternoon, after they opened, I again called and was told, yes, we have it. Well ---- why didn't you call me? Not answered but told they have a bunch of them and how can they find the person since there is no phone number on the card. On my way to eat at another restaurant, I stopped to pick it up, again, explaining my phone call which they ignored and repeated they couldn't locate missing card owners. I asked, sardonically and a bit angrily if they had ever heard of google at which point the card was thrown on the counter and assistant manager told me to leave. I guess when you ask the tough questions, they can't take being confronted with their ignorance and failure to reach out to their customers. To go a bit further, a few years ago I had lunch in a tavern in Charlottesville, VA. It was a small local place and we had a great lunch. We were chatting with the waitress as we paid and I left my credit card. Two hours later, I'm in the car when the phone rings. It was the owner of the Tavern telling me he had my card and did he want me to send it or destroy it? How did he find me? He googled me. We had mentioned to the waitress we were from Massachusetts and he had googled my name and a found me in Mass. Now, I will never be in Charlottesville again, but he was a good guy who cared about people who ate at his place. Two restaurants, two very different ways of handling it. read more

ordered a takeout pizza tonight and it was beyond awful. it tasted as though someone dropped a box of salt on it. my tongue felt pickled after one bite. they would never get away with that if the customer was dining in the restaurant. buyer beware! I called the restaurant and they offered a credit to compensate for the disastrous pizza. read more

I was a little worried about a dinner out here due to some of these reviews but I'm so glad we went. We went on a Saturday night at about 5:30. We were greeted by a host and seated immediately. The space is very nice inside. About four main seating areas separated by walls so it didn't ever feel too noisy or too busy. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Overall start to finish the service was a very nice pace. We ordered a few beverages and appetizers to start. The maple old fashion was the favorite although one person thought it was a little sweet but it balanced the bourbon well. The cheese wedges were favored among the child in the group - but from an adult perspective they were crisp and well seasoned and the marinara was fantastic. The bruschetta was just ok. Each entree came with soup or salad and we all got the Cesar salad. The salad was very tasty but maybe just a little heavy on the dressing. For entrees we tried the fettuccini Alfredo, the Tuscan Chicken, and one of the specials. The Tuscan Chicken dish was one of the best chicken dishes I've had in a very long time and I consider myself a bit of a foodie. The chicken was soft and juicy but the outer crust was crisp and flavorful. The sauce that accompanied the dish was very good. The special was also very good. The alfredo was enjoyed by the young member of the group but it was heavy on the sauce. Highly recommend trying the Tuscan Chicken if you ever venture out here. read more

My wife and I dined with another couple on a quiet Wednesday evening. She had the Lasagna, and I had the Eggplant Parmesan. Growing up in an Italian household, I am very fussy about Italian food. The food was exquisite. Nini's is not inexpensive, but it is worth every penny. The restaurant staff and facilities are also top notch. We highly recommend Nini's. read more

First time I've been in Nini's in the better part of 25 years, and it didn't disappoint. It's a bit more toney than it used to be, but zero complaints about ambience, the speed and attentiveness of the service, or the quality of the food. (Okay, it's pricier, but what isn't these days?) I had a balsamic barbecue chicken pizza, and while the taste was a little on the strong side for me, it was excellent and well-prepared. My wife had chicken marsala, and raved about it ... while there was so much that she brought home an extra two meals' worth. We will be back! read more

If I could do no stars I would - the only thing good was the bread w/dipping olive oil and the salads. My wife is a "chef" - ran 2 restaurants in New York and learned from the best Italian cooks and chefs. We have been to many very good Italian restaurants in Springfield, Agawam, East Longmeadow, Holyoke (Amadeo's), New York, and other locations. We have also been to Nini's in the past - which was, and I will say "was", very good. Today my wife ordered a vegetable pasta dish and I ordered chicken marsala. Both came in small, deep dish "soup" bowls - not plates so the food can air out. My wife's dish was such a heavy cream sauce she could eat very little. My chicken marsala was a "chicken stew". Big chunks of chicken - thick and tough with no taste at all and in a bowl of marsala and pasta. Chicken marsala should be butterflied and pounded down very thin and sauteed in marsala and then served next to the pasta. It is not a "stew"......... I originally asked for Fra Diavola which is a seafood dish with typically a whitefish, clams, mussels, and maybe scallops - a little of each. When I ordered - I was asked - did I want the clams, mussels, or calamari in my food - not a little of each - but only one. That is NOT Fra Diavola!!! The owners/chef need to go to a real Italian restaurant to be trained to learn how to cook Italian food, because this was food was not Italian and was/is a disgrace and insult to all who cook good Italian food. If you have a choice to go to Nini's or somewhere else - pick the somewhere else ......... read more

Food is good but there's always a glitch when I go. Last week waitress couldn't comprehend my order of Linguine clams in red sauce she came back 10 mins later to check again, it's on the menu. Order came with no clams, I just ate it. She forgot salad, brought soup. We arrived 30 mins after opening and heard staff 3x telling costumers we ran out of that. Bought two Different Pizzas last night and they were the worse my Husband and I ever had! Went for a birthday dinner last week. It was amazing. Everything was fresh, served warm and in step from appetizer to dessert. Full of flavor and authentic. We ate outside, under tent, that had heaters, it was a nice night. A week later, we were in the area and ordered take out, pizza and salad. Out for a mid-week dinner with friends at Nini 's recently. We each enjoyed our entrees and the cake desserts were amazing! The wait staff could have warned us the appetizer we chose wouldn't be enough for four, or the kitchen staff could have adjusted. Ninis was always a very good Italian restaurant. Lady time we ate there we had a bad experience. Both our meals were awful. My Alfredo was a bowl of milk. Awful. My husband had chicken Marsala. Recently relocated here from the Midwest. Noticed that he Advocate listed Nini's as the best Italian restaurant. Located on Cottage St. in East Hampton it's easy enough to find and get to. Plenty of public parking in a lot across the street and up a block, and on-street as well. The fresh baked bread with their own amazing dipping oil was a real treat. I was looking forward to sausage with peppers and onions over penne, which wasn't on the menu but they made it up for me. No problem. It was delicious! My wife had rigatoni with a bolognese sauce which also was delicious. We don't often order desert but as this was a celebration dinner we asked for a piece of chocolate cake to share. Three layer chocolate cake with thin pieces of chocolate in the thick creamy frosting! It was amazingly good! More than enough for 2 people. We will be back!! read more

I walked in tonight to get dinner. It was my first time there. There were two waitstaff working on something behind the desk. I figured they'd acknowledge me when they were done. Three minutes later, they both walked away. Another waitperson passed me three times. A fourth waitperson walked by me to go arrange a table. I stood there, unacknowledged, for over five minutes. I left. Won't be back. There were plenty of open tables, and they weren't so busy that a simple, "We'll be right with you," couldn't have been offered. I have lots of sympathy for struggling service workers. This was bad training. Four different people did not acknowledge me or offer me as much as a hello. I walked into another place down the street and was seated and served my cocktail in less time than I stood there. read more

terrible kitchen staff. i was there to eat and i noticed the kitchen staff DO NOT wear gloves, they grab the salad mix with their bare hands after touching their face etc. i heard one of the cooks yelling at a server calling her a bitch. very uncomfortable for us. Our friends live in town and took us here. We were planning on having an inexpensive pizza dinner but my fiance and I decided against the pizza (no one can top NY pizza) and chose pasta dishes. The place was packed but there was a decent bar area, in which we grabbed some drinks. By the time we sat down, we were all sweating, it was as if they cranked the heat. I knew we weren't crazy because I heard other diners complaining about it. I read on yelp that the service was slow. Yep! This is true. The waitress didn't even come by to take our plates away. It was like she was oblivious to the fact that they were sitting there taking up space for our main course. I did not care for mine. A filetto sauce is supposed to be light with chunks of tomato, this was a thick sauce with tomato and too many spices. My guess is they used too much oregano (which I can not stand) and maybe too much sugar?. Just reminded me of jarred sauce or something with some chunks of tomato. But maybe I am just being picky because I enjoy my home made sauce over most. My fiance liked his, but thought it was weird that Broccoli Rabe was not an option. Most Italian restaurants by us offer sausage and broccoli rabe, but he said his was good (with the broccoli). Our friends got pizza. It looked pretty good but I wasn't a huge fan. I think because I didn't care for Nini's sauce, it would make sense why I wasn't into the pizza. My fiance called it prego pizza. I am giving it 2 stars simply for the fact that the temperature made us all uncomfortable, and the service was very slow. I am not a food snob and I give everything a chance, and just because we didn't love everything, maybe this might be the best pizza in the area. I am curious to try some others! read more

We started off with warm bread and seasoned dipping oil. Yum! The salads were elevated by the incredible parmigiana ranch dressing. (Bought a quart to take home!) We had the special - Beef Braciole. My husband had it over pasta. I opted for zoodles. Delicious both ways!! We were so full we had to take our desserts to go. We come here often and the food and drinks are on point. Not this time. Drinks took almost 30 minutes and tasted like there was absolutely no alcohol in them. Ordered a second drink and was completely wrong. Got the salad I always do and it was missing 3 components. Never got any share plates so we all just ate out of the same bowl. What a dissatisfied visit. Not sure we will be back anytime soon. I'll leave the rest of the disappointingly meal out of this as all my other friends that came with me had issues as well. I know this is a tough time for all restaurants but quality over quantity is 100% what's needed. You gotta appease the client to come back. This was a terrible experience. It took a long time to get our drink order. Our appetizers were ok. But, our main dishes were terrible. Our orders were mixed up. Love Nini's! Everything tastes amazing. The bread and oil dip! Caesar salad! Garlic cream sauce! Chicken Picatta over vegetables! YUMMMMMM! Great big tasty portions. Comfortable atmosphere, they even have a back door pickup window, so you can roll in the back like the lazy slob you are so you can pick it all up to eat it in bed in peace. Cute little place with decent food and Sinatra on the sound system. Wine selection leaves a bit to be desired but the food was pretty good. Steamed clams (appetizer) were fresh as were the salads (they make their own croutons, too). Pastas were ok, albeit a little on the dry side (not much sauce on the creamy dishes).
