Some of the salt in the box

ordered a takeout pizza tonight and it was beyond awful. it tasted as though someone dropped a box of salt on it. my tongue felt pickled after one bite. they would never get away with that if the customer was dining in the restaurant. buyer beware! I called the restaurant and they offered a credit to compensate for the disastrous pizza.

I was a little worried about a dinner out here due to some of these reviews but I'm so glad we went. We went on a Saturday night at about 5:30. We were greeted by a host and seated immediately. The space is very nice inside. About four main seating areas separated by walls so it didn't ever feel too noisy or too busy. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Overall start to finish the service was a very nice pace. We ordered a few beverages and appetizers to start. The maple old fashion was the favorite although one person thought it was a little sweet but it balanced the bourbon well. The cheese wedges were favored among the child in the group - but from an adult perspective they were crisp and well seasoned and the marinara was fantastic. The bruschetta was just ok. Each entree came with soup or salad and we all got the Cesar salad. The salad was very tasty but maybe just a little heavy on the dressing. For entrees we tried the fettuccini Alfredo, the Tuscan Chicken, and one of the specials. The Tuscan Chicken dish was one of the best chicken dishes I've had in a very long time and I consider myself a bit of a foodie. The chicken was soft and juicy but the outer crust was crisp and flavorful. The sauce that accompanied the dish was very good. The special was also very good. The alfredo was enjoyed by the young member of the group but it was heavy on the sauce. Highly recommend trying the Tuscan Chicken if you ever venture out here.

Nice, homey Italian restaurant. The service was friendly and good. Food was good too. I would come back again.

Shrimp Scampi. Delicious. Large shrimp, pasta and garlic.

Delicious!! Nicely buttered roll with so much lobster you have to eat some of it before you can even pick this roll up. And not just claws like some places this was all solid lobster meat. $30 with fries- wish we remembered to opt for the onion straws (next time). Lobster was tender and flavorful with not an over abundant amount of mayo just the tiniest bit to hold everything together and it was tender, flavorful, and overall delicious. Arnold Palmer wasn't powdered lemonade either, it was perfectly fresh and not overly sweet. Then shop at the Amazing food co-op next door. Looking forward to our next trip here. We walked up to a casual outdoor seating area with picnic tables set alongside the road, giving it the laid back atmosphere of a New England seafood shack where the focus is entirely on generous portions and classic seafood favorites rather than anything overly polished. The setup is simple and relaxed, making it an easy stop for a casual lunch or dinner during the warmer months. The lobster roll is the clear highlight here. The portion was surprisingly large for the price, packed generously and substantial enough to feel like a full meal on its own. The lobster was the star of the sandwich, and the overall value stood out given how expensive lobster rolls have become across Massachusetts. We also ordered the fish and chips, which came with an equally generous portion size, though the fish was a little drier than expected. While it was still satisfying, it lacked some of the moisture and flakiness that would have made it more memorable. What stands out most is the portion to price ratio. Nearly everything coming out of the kitchen is oversized, which helps explain why the restaurant has built such a strong reputation as a destination for seafood in the area. The food leans toward hearty and filling rather than refined, and the experience works best when you arrive hungry and ready for a substantial meal. Service moved efficiently despite the steady crowds, and the casual outdoor setting kept the experience relaxed. For anyone looking for a classic roadside seafood stop in Western Massachusetts, Captain Jack's delivers generous portions, solid seafood, and a lobster roll that easily justifies the visit.

Not many people in the place for dinner time, but it is a large dining area; very pretty inside. From there, not much to brag about. Service was non-existent. Either flagging out waiter down, or never seeing anyone in the dining area. Started with the crab cake, which was done with claw meat and not lumb crab. Very little taste...maybe from being overcooked? Looked and tasted more like a mackerel patty. Also had the carpaccio, which was cut super thin, and probably about an ounce of meat...again, no flavor at all. For the main meal, my wife had the salmon and I had the filet. I lump these together, since the thought is the same. Overcooked and lacking flavor. Mine was supposed to be medium, but was very close to well done with no juice or color left in the steak. I would have sent it back, but no one came anywhere near our table for at least 10-15 minutes since the entrees were served. I had one cocktail...would have had at least one more if anyone would have come by the table again. Pretty place, but there has to be better places for a nice meal close by.

That settled it; we had to try it. Out of sheer excitement or exhaustion, we forgot to make a reservation. I quickly remembered this mistake as we entered Hooked. People filled every table and seat at the bar. I looked at my bestie with great concern because we were anticipating our first meal of the day. The hostess welcomed us warmly, and then she asked the dreadful question, "Do y'all have a reservation?" We sadly said no, and she immediately began to express regret. Maybe it was the "Grad2026" headband or the disappointment on our faces that caused her to have pity on us because she told us to wait one second. The hostess walked to the bar, then she went to the main seating area, lastly she went next door where there's additional seating. She returned with a smile and motioned for us to follow her. The hostess found us seats at the bar! We ordered, chatted with the locals, and ate a delicious meal. We even made room for dessert which we learned was made by the owner, the hostess! This place has been a Wilmington staple since 1997, and you can tell they've spent the last nearly 30 years perfecting the craft. The atmosphere is incredible. While the original 1850s building was lost to a fire in 2010, the current space is a beautiful, faithful replica that feels historic and cozy. It's the perfect spot for a post-ski dinner or a summer night out. Here's the breakdown of what you need to order: The Chowder: This is proper New England clam chowder. It's thick, rich, and loaded with clams--not just a bowl of potatoes and heavy cream. It's the ultimate comfort food. Steamers: You have to start with the steamers. They are clean, sweet, and served the traditional way with a side of broth and drawn butter. It's a messy, delicious classic that they do perfectly here. Whole Belly Clams: These are the gold standard. They're lightly breaded, perfectly fried, and have that sweet, briny pop you usually only find at a roadside shack on the Maine coast. If you're a fan of "the bellies," don't skip these. The Lobster: I went for the steamed lobster, and it was impeccable. Succulent chunks of fresh meat and just the right amount of butter. It tasted like it was caught that morning. It's rare to find a spot that balances a "fancy night out" feel with such unpretentious, high-quality food. Whether you're a local or just passing through for the foliage, make sure you stop here.

The Saturday Pop of the Week is SUCH a fun concept -- a boozy popsicle served in a glass of champagne -- and I genuinely find myself wanting to come back every Saturday just to see what he comes up with next. The one pictured was lavender, mint, lemon, and vodka popsicle (THAT HE LITERALLY CAME UP WITH) in champagne, and honestly... the PERFECT drink. Refreshing, creative, balanced, and just sooooo good. But what really makes the experience is Anda. He knows his drinks, knows the food, and gives incredible recommendations and pairings. The oysters were fantastic, including the dressed oyster with strawberry granita, which I probably wouldn't have thought to order on my own but absolutely loved. Then he recommended the cinnamon bun brioche donut and OH. MY. GOD. It was unbelievably soft, warm, heavenly, and the perfect way to finish brunch. I will never get over how soft and light it was. Beyond knowing the menu inside and out, Anda is just so relatable, personable, and genuinely fun to talk to. He makes sitting at the bar feel like part of the experience rather than just somewhere you're having a meal. Every recommendation has been spot-on, and he somehow makes my experience at AOB feel memorable every single time. At this point, Amherst Oyster Bar has become my go-to and one of my most frequent spots, and Anda is honestly a huge reason why. Great oysters, ridiculously good food, creative drinks, and a bartender who clearly knows what he's doing and makes you excited to come back. Couldn't be more pleased -- or more wowed -- by my experiences here. And yes, I will absolutely be back next Saturday for the next Pop of the Week!
