Phillip Jr. after final inspection completed

My home's main breaker arced and failed, leaving many circuits inoperable. I contacted a few electricians and learned it would not be a simple breaker replacement. Arcing melted a critical part of my panel, and no replacement parts were available due to age. To replace my panel, I found that newer city and SDGE rules meant I had to install a new panel in a different location. That meant I also needed a new longer SDGE service line to reach it. I was warned that this type of project can take months start to finish because of the many checkpoint and inspection appointments involved. I initially contacted Solomon Electrical Services among a few other contractors to understand what I was facing. Even on preliminary calls before I'd chosen a contractor, Phillip stood out. He called me back on his day off to clarify and understand my situation better, then took the initiative to track down my SDGE planner (whose name I'd not provided to him yet) on the next business day to get further technical details. Phillip's initiative and willingness to invest his time to understand my project scope gave me confidence his team would do the job right and leave no detail to chance. A 90ft trench, conduit, service wire installation, backfill, and concrete repair work added complexity and expense to the project beyond a simple panel replacement. I selected Solomon Electrical after Phillip provided a written quote that clearly explained what was included and excluded, along with a fair price. Given his efforts to understand the project and his no-nonsense approach so far, I was confident I would not get any unexpected financial surprises. He coordinated the project professionally, handling the hassle of appointments and inspections with Dig-Alert, SDGE, and the city permit department. Because the trench crossed my driveway, bricks and walkway, I worried about tree roots, and how the repair would look once completed. Santiago and crew led the demo, trenching, backfill, hauling, and repair to the driveway and walkway. They did a great job putting things back together and managed to keep critical roots intact. Yes this all took a longer time as predicted due to the myriad scheduling requirements. But the entire Solomon Electrical team was thorough, knowledgeable, direct, and professional in all their work. They went out of their way to answer my many questions during the project. I'm happy - they did a nice job for me, and I'd hire them again for any electrical need.

I'm a licensed Architect and General Contractor and our team hired Philip to do both the rough and finish electrical for a modern 1,100sf companion unit in Hillcrest. Philip and the rest of his close team (his son and his nephew) delivered high quality craftsmanship within a challenging shell (concrete block, cast-in-place concrete walls, minimalist aesthetic), provided thorough explanations of his recommendations to exceed trade standards, was promptly responsive in his communications, and was just an overall nice guy to work with. I plan on hiring his company for my own house, which I hope to break ground in February, and will continue to recommend him highly to the people I care about and to Contractor colleagues looking for reliable, trustworthy, fair, and accountable subcontractors. The picture I'm attaching shows a good sampling of the finished product. As with any final building product, a bunch of work goes into planning and the concealed components that make a certain result come out looking clean and effortless. I credit the end product to the great collaborative effort with Philip and his family.

    Phillip's vehicle. Great work van.

Throughout the entire process, his communication was excellent. He was friendly, professional, and took the time to explain what was going on. It's hard to find contractors who are this responsive and reliable these days. If you're looking for an honest, knowledgeable electrician who truly cares about his customers, I highly recommend Romo. I wouldn't hesitate to use him again and would absolutely recommend him to anyone in San Diego County.

His bank kept rejecting my payments and I ended up having to pay his wife's zelle account (??)  Long version: Romo took almost 2 months to complete my project of replacing the subpanel, adding a 20 amp circuit, and repairing any damaged drywall. He and his team cancelled/ no showed on my tenant more than 5 times and was super unresponsive when scheduling. My tenant had to live in a home with holes in the walls for almost a full month before it was finally repaired. The business operates very shadily. I have asked for a receipt for my payment numerous times, and he still has not provided one. I had to pay him in 3 separate transactions via zelle because his bank kept rejecting my payments. I'm not sure how this business has a 4.8 rating on Yelp, but will not be trusting those reviews from now on.

He answered all of my questions and e-mailed a detailed, written quote a few minutes later. When I was ready to move forward, they put me on the schedule for the next business day. On the day of the job, Eddie and Ricky arrived on time. When they got started, they noticed a critical safety issue: the main line installed by the previous homeowner was not up to code, and it was a safety hazard. They gave me an updated quote, which I accepted, to replace the main line as part of the job. The work was done in a couple of hours, and SDG&E replaced my meter the same day. Scheduling and payment were easy. I paid by credit card, and they e-mailed a receipt a few minutes later. I would happily work with SRP Electric again.

When I sent them a question regarding the job they bid they stated they would not work my project because I canceled an appt due to work. Won't answer questions. They don't give you the bid with the permitted price. This was a job that is suppose to be permitted. I wouldn't do an electrical install without a permit. They should be pulling permits on jobs that need them without the owner requesting. I had to request a permit to be added. The original job did not come with a permit. So they applied for the permit without even knowing if they could run the line and do the job. They sent me messages continuously about moving forward and I told them their price was excessive. Why don't they put the whole thread of the text messages in of me asking about adding a permit and them repeatedly asking if I was ready. My response of why is their pricing so excessive.
