Delightful coffee shop with a modern and sleek interior. I appreciate that they offer a variety of single-origin pour-over options with beans roasted in Ukraine--the Ethiopian pour-over I tried was excellent. They also offer a variety of pastry items, and the strawberry croissant was delicious, with flaky layers and strawberry cream inside, though slightly pricey at $7.50. The cafe is always packed, so it can be challenging to find a table here. Went on a Monday at 830am to have a bite & coffee. Ordered avocado toast and an iced latte. The latte was not filled up, at least 3/4 inch remaining from the top. They seemed to forget my avo toast until I asked how the order was coming along (not a busy morning at all). The toast was basically bread with a guacamole spread and for $17 I was extremely disappointed and disgusted. Extremely pricey spot for very less than average latte & bfast. Went around 10:30-11:00 on a Tuesday morning and there was no seating available. At least half the tables were taken up by people on laptops, no outdoor seating available. We originally placed our order to go and got lucky that a table freed up right before we got our food. I got a hazelnut latte and the turkey sandwich and my friend ordered the shakshuka, all very good. We also both got pistachio croissants(didn't get a picture) which were fantastic. They definitely stuff the croissants with filling so have napkins on standby and eat sitting down if you're able. Staff was friendly, food came quick. They have a unique menu compared to other coffee shops which is what drew us to it. It's definitely on our list to return, at least for the food if not for the coffee. read more

I really wish that Yelp would allow for us to give half stars or fractional stars. I feel strongly that this coffee shop is not a four-star place (I will explain), but it's too good to be a three-star place. Hence, while I have given them four stars, my official rating is 3.5 or 3.75 starts. First the positive. The coffee here is very excellent. The latte has a deep rich coffee flavor and had a texture was thick and luxurious. Too often lattes can just taste like dirty or burnt water, not at this place. Also, the latter art was a very nice touch. The cold brew was also very good. It had a deep, rich coffee taste, it's certainly along one of the better ones I've had in Chicago. I also bought a bag of beans and have enjoyed brewing them home. The atmosphere is very good. While this spot is new, and when I went the decor didn't seem to be full finished, the coffee shop was bright, airy and I liked the vibe. A lot of people were working remotely here, and I could understand why. The service was good, but not exceptional. The cashier was nice enough, but seemed a bit standoffish. Kind of like a "I'm too cool for your" vibe. Again, not mean, but could have been a little bit friendlier. Second, the negatives. I have discussed the service above, so I don't need to go over that again. The major negative is the price. For starters, the almond croissant was $7.50 before tax. This the single most expensive croissant I've ever seen and I've been going to independent coffee shops for nearly two decades, including coffee shops in Dubai, UAE (which tend to pricey) and New York within the last year. The question her is value, that intersection of price and what you get back in quality/quantity. By comparison, a ham and cheese croissant down the street at Printers Row, a comparable independent coffee shop costs $6.50. The is an expensive croissant, even when compared to similar coffee shop. The croissant tastes good, but was way too sugary and very soft. It was however, larger that your average croissant. I feel like they have created their croissants to be Instagram worthy, and then priced them accordingly. The total bill for one latte, one cold brew and one croissant was nearly $20.00 (the bag of beans was about $21.00). I understand prices are rising for many reasons, if not just for the natural increase in inflation, but the prices hear drag down the rating and prohibits this spot form being an everyday stop or even weekly stop for me. In sum, this a good coffee shop. You should go here, but often will depend on your budget. They have good coffee and I won't mind coming back and snapping a few photos for Instagram here myself, but this is a spot in the rotation of places to give yourself a treat from time to time. read more

I stopped by for a quick afternoon lunch. At that moment, I had two kids sleeping in a double stroller. When I came up to the window to order some food, a girl who works there told me that this window is only for pick up and people with dogs. I asked if that is ok to still order from the window since kids would wake up if I come inside plus it's very inconvenient to come in with a large double stroller. She made an exception for me, but still rubbed it in my face 3 times that I am not supposed to do that. Though I was hoping to do some work on my laptop and found out they are a "no screen cafe" which ultimately resulted in me having to leave. Their matcha was very mediocre. I am honestly very disappointed after trying this place. Despite all the good reviews from tik tok, I would steer away from this cafe! Philz is down the street if you want some good coffee. The vibes are so cute here! 20-30 min wait time but worth it for the quality of food and coffee you are getting. I absolutely loved the sweetness level on the pancake - not too sweet but very flavorful. Portion sizes feel European which to me is a plus as I can never finish my food. Note about the croissants - they go very heavy on the powdered sugar so don't be surprised if you walk out needing to change your top. I had to go home lol read more

their coffee is okay, but lets talk about those pastries. wow. like wow! i had the pistachio croissant and a cinnamon knot, and they were so good! the croissant is soft and flakey with a soft dough in the center, the pistachio paste its filled with is so creamy and subtly sweet, and the white chocolate coating the croissant was the best part- sweet and melts so nicely on the tongue. the cinnamon knot was crunchy and similarly soft on the inside, filled with a custard-like cream that paired so well with the cinnamon dusted on top. customer service was amazing, the staff super sweet and patient when we took some time asking questions and ordering. the inside is designed so nicely, and there are some really pretty chairs and tables to sit on, with an outside area as well. i had a great experience at this place! my only criticism is the coffee- the sweet brew is oddly sour, and the latte was also too bitter despite the 3 pumps of vanilla i added. i dont believe its a matter of preference for sweet/bitter coffee, its just that the coffee's bitterness itself isnt really tasty. read more
