No, but was the ferry on time? Yes! Was there a bar on the ferry which I could purchase a mimosa from? Hell Yes, so all was good in my travel day to the city. And of course, there is a bathroom in the building in case you need to use it before leaving the station. Also, ther is a plethora of brochures for activities in the area if you are interested. I came in about an hour before I was told the place was closing at 9:30pm. There was a security lady, though she was definitely nice and helpful, I just didn't vibe with this transit center. There were about three transient or homeless persons that were hanging out or sleeping on the seats. I was one of the few people there and I said as security, why don't they regulate the place more. She told me it's just normal there with the homeless. I guess they just put a blind eye to it. But think it's kind of unmindful of safety of travelers. Even as a modern transit space, it does looks nice, with very tall escalators inside, but the safety was not exactly felt here, especially at night. Hopefully they'll actually enforce things than just let things be. But perhaps it's foreshadowing how things are handled in the city.

But why would anyone ever take a bus from BART station to BART station when BART is faster? Well, sometime between late 2018 and early 2020, BART had a major problem on its Red Line. I was on the train headed to work that morning, and when we stopped at MacArthur Station, the train operator helpfully informed us passengers that there was a major issue up ahead and the train would be holding indefinitely. Mind you, I rode BART every weekday from San Francisco to Downtown Berkeley for almost ten years. This was not my first BART major-issue/meltdown rodeo, and while I had used some clever tricks to get from affected station to non-affected station--or to bypass affected station altogether--I had never just gotten off the train and sought a form of transportation other than my feet. But I couldn't very well walk from MacArthur Station to Downtown Berkeley, so I pulled out my phone and decided to ride AC Transit for the first time in many years. I was able to find the stop easily enough, and I was surprised by how direct (and quick) the bus ride to Downtown Berkeley was. All of this despite how long it took the the bus to pick up and let off passengers at each stop. There were many other frazzled BART riders with me early on, but most of them had left the bus long before we got to Southside Berkeley. The bus driver then informed us that there was an issue with his regular route, so he would be detouring in such-and-such a way. I had no idea what his regular route was, but I knew where he was headed, so I stayed put. Worst-case scenario, I'd get off the bus south of campus and walk to work. But the bus ended up where it was supposed to, and I was only about twenty minutes late for work. All my previous nervousness about my Clipper Card not having enough regular money (as opposed to BART-specific money) stored on it was like most of my nervousness: completely unnecessary but also ridiculously indefatigable. So thanks, AC Transit 6 bus! You really made my day that day, and I predicted then that I would have ridden you again by now, but COVID, and the world, etc.

When you get to this transit center, turns out most parking is reserved…read more(or so it seems) and once you get to the daily parking stalls, you realize there's no kiosk to pay for parking and there's no obvious signage indicating how you pay for daily parking. Once you Google how to do it, the website isn't so great and you have to go through multiple steps and add your license plate number + payment info. Once you pay (I got charged twice because the app processed payment when I was thing to make a correction), you would think "ok, I'm good to go..." but no, you get a PDF that you have to print (!?!?!). It's 2024 and a BART lot....and you have to print a pass from a poorly done website....when BART has an app that is relatively decent. You can do better BART...

Don't do it! I already knew that Greyhound is a terrible bus company actually from trips I had on…read morethe East Coast. However, I was forced to take it after Flix bump me from my original bus that was headed to UCLA and placed me on this bus ( their partner in the Bay Area). As a disabled passenger I know that I have certain rights and unfortunately the bus driver was not willing to abide by them/ ADA . Bus driver had an attitude and was arguing about the placement of my wheelchair and could not guarantee reimbursement if it was damaged. She was literally was acting as if I didn't have a disability because I was standing at the time and walking. Not all wheelchair users are wheelchair bound . Some are ambulatory and can walk short distances. But anyway, this bus line is not worth the hassle. I know she hates her life personally, but please don't take it out on passengers . The only positive aspect was that the pick up point was right in front of a Oakland, West Oakland BART station so that I was able to easily take the next train to SFO and book an airline ticket. The last minute airline ticket that I paid which costs $80 more is worth it knowing my wheelchair will being handled with care and consideration and that I also I will also be treated like a human being . If you absolutely have to take a bus, try the Amtrak Which essentially is a bus with the connection in Santa Barbara to the train . The FlixBus is sometimes, but since they partner with Greyhound and often needs them to fulfill their rides, I can't honestly recommend them. Honestly just fly if you can .

Why would you leave early, when 7 ticketed passengers have not boarded. The drivers know who has bought a ticket. They don't even check! They left 8 minutes early and I missed my job interview. Should I have registered the card I bought last night? Well, I couldn't because trying to use the Clipper site this week has been next to impossible with the litany of glitches it's experiencing. Even so, I shouldn't have to register a transit card to use it on public transit. If I can prove where and when I bought the card and I *have the actual card*, no one else ought to be able to register the card! But that's what happened and Clipper told me I they couldn't (wouldn't) do anything about it when I informed them of the situation. The customer service person was nice enough, but nice customer service reps can't make up for bad policy and glitchy systems.

The previous blue stripe cards used on Bart for example were straightforward and user friendly. Buy one, add fare, etc..etc..basic and effective. Clipper on the other hand has evolved into a somewhat nebulous iffy territory of not so straightforward results or responses when it comes to legitimate refunds for example. Also checking ones balance by phone should be again, a plain and simple procedure. That too has slipped into questionable and increasing confusion. It seems that unnecessary information is being sourced by clipper from users even for things as basic as having the automated readers give us our blue card balances on the phone. Sorry...Just Not Recommended.
