Their lentil protein salad is my go to but not sure why they changed the recipe. The fried shallots doesn't taste the same anymore. Please bring back the old recipe. The service is amazing! They always greet you with smile. I love the ambiance too! It's very spacious. read more

I've worked in the area for the past 2 years and only now have I come across this sandwich place by word of mouth. It's fast casual, line up and the find an open place to sit to eat. The line gets long at the noon rush, but moves quickly. Easy to walk right past because first glance it looks like a wine bar and I had no idea they served food (soups, salads and sandwiches). Walk up to the counter and place your sandwich order--they'll call you when it's ready. I ordered the pulled pork on a ciabatta and while it doesn't look like much, it is packed with meat and I wasn't even able to finish the sandwich; half was very filling and tasted great. The prices are reasonable for the area. read more

Since working remotely there have been two San Francisco lunch spots that I have missed and SOMA Eats is one of them. They have a limited menu but what they have has been consistently great. My all time favorite is the Baked Salmon Green Goddess Salad. The Salmon is seasoned and cooked perfectly and the salad is flavorful and satisfying. The service from the staff has always been top notch. I was recently back in the office and brought a co-worker for lunch and it was as good as I always remembered. They also have a really awesome beer selection. If you are in the area you definitely need to check it out. read more

Stopped here for a casual lunch on a weekday with a friend and had a pretty good experience. I got an Asian salad with grilled shrimp, blood orange, pickled onions, edamame, avocado, and greens. All the ingredients tasted super fresh and came together very well. A bit pricey than what I would have liked, but this is downtown SF and the ambience was nice even though it's a fast-casual place, so no complaints. read more

I ordered the vegetarian eggplant sandwich this time which was not up to the mark - it was good but not the best, I felt like it was loaded which vegetables but was missing some dressing which would make it phenomenal. But, I enjoyed it. And, the lentil protein bowl here is delicious if you haven't tried. read more

Great place to grab a quick bite to eat for breakfast or lunch. You can grab & go or order in front and eat in. You'll usually get a seat quickly. Favorite: TURKEY MEATLOAF SANDWICH, $10.95 Indian-spiced turkey meatloaf with Peppadew peppers and arugula, spiced garlic aioli spread on toasted ciabatta. Delicious bread (toasty & easy to bite into). There's a hint of spiciness. The meatloaf is incredibly moist and rich in flavor. Such a great sandwich! You should get this with their soup of the day. This meal tastes 10x better during the winter. It'll definitely warm you up! read more

Fresh food + clean and trendy space = great lunch. SOMA seemed to be the go-to spot for all the business folk on their lunch hour. It was packed and had pretty limited seating, yet somehow my big group managed to move through the line quickly and all find seats together at the bar. Their menu was packed but not overwhelming. There is easily something for everyone. I normally wouldn't get salmon at a grab and go lunch spot (it is usually just overcooked and nothing special) but this place seemed like one to trust. I got the Baked Salmon Greek Goddess Salad. Both the name and the dish were equally a mouthful. It came on a bed of romaine with shredded carrots, cherry tomatoes, sliced cucumber and fresh avocado. The salmon was wonderful and cooked just perfectly. The dressing came in a little dish on the side and was a little creamier than I would normally opt for but nonetheless, made for a tasty salad. The only thing I would have liked is if the salad actually came chopped and mixed, with the salmon on the top, as opposed to everything in piles on top of the romaine. It makes for an awkward meal, having to cut and mix your own salad in a bowl that isn't very convenient for the task. It's a little thing, not a huge deal at all. And to be honest, the staff was so nice and accommodating that if I asked them to do this, I am very sure they would have. Next time I stop in, I'll have to remember to do so. I always would rather sit at a table so it's easy to talk to everyone rather than a bar but Wednesday 12:00 in Fidi, beggars can't be choosers. This was definitely not a bad option at all. The bar was beautiful and clean and you weren't bumping elbows with the person next to you. It was a great meal at a good price and next time I am in town, it will be in my rotation for lunch spots for sure. read more

I love this place! My friend recommended it a couple years back and I've been going ever since. It's your daily salad, sandwich, soup, chocolate chip cookie kinda place but amped up with the whole sustainable product kick. I always got their salmon goddess salad which is super fresh but now they have hot bowls! I love their chicken pomegranate bowl with carrot slaw, spinach, couscous, and of course a couple of pomegranates for decoration Yum! read more

YUM. SOMA is the main stomping grounds for lunch for all corporate offices in a five mile radius of Downtown San Fran. Since most seating is typically packed with fellow lunch-goers, this is the perfect spot for a quick grab-and-go. SOMA has limited seating, quick service, and an assortment of trendy + health conscious beverages. For example, one of my coworkers ordered blue Mermaid Lemonade! For my meal I ordered the Spicy Pulled Pork Sandwich, and removed the spicy coleslaw since I'm a huge wuss. The sandwich was served on a fluffy ciabatta bun with juicy pulled pork. Unfortunately, since I removed the coleslaw, the sandwich was slightly dry (my fault), so I added a little bit of their salad dressing. This addition made the meal delicious and I would love to return in the future to try a few more menu options. read more

SOMA eats is one of my go-to lunch spots in this area. I always get a salad here because the New Greek Salad and Greek Goddess Salads are solid. Portion sizes are also pretty big. Pro-tip: you can replace the salmon in the Green Goddess Salad with pork, meatloaf, or lamb. They offer a wide variety of salads, sandwiches, and beers. Great spot for a healthy-ish lunch. Beware though as it gets super packed during lunch rush so you might want to beat it if you plan on dining in. Also a big fan of their cookies, it's delish! read more

I will never order from here again! I ordered a deviled egg salad sandwich for my team meeting, expecting it to be vegetarian since there was no description on the site. To my surprise, there were huge pieces of bacon in the sandwich. I emailed the management team about the issue but received no reply or apology. Came here around 12:30pm on a Thursday for lunch with a friend and it was sooooo busy! That being said, the line moved fairly quickly and it wasn't too hard to find a spot to sit as there were people always leaving. Additionally, after ordering, I got my food insanely fast (less than 10 minutes). I love the atmosphere, as it somehow masters a balance between casual upscale/trendy. I ordered the Baked Salmon Green Goddess Salad (~$12). It was pretty filling and the basil dressing was very good. My only thing was that the salmon was pretty cold and it seemed kind of shredded. It was also a bit too salty for my liking. I wish it came with more things in it- like almonds or quinoa. I got it to go, but it looked like the dine in portions are bigger (though that might just be the way it's plated). My friend got the New Greek Salad (she says she always gets it and it's her fave) which looked super good and I would definitely try that one next time! read more

Holy guacamole, I barely finished paying when my name was called for my order! 5 Stars on that alone! SOMA Eats is conveniently close and if you get there before noon I'm sure your order will come out wicked fast too. I ordered the Salmon salad and oh man the salmon. Tastes so perfect! Tender and falls off the fork. Generous helping. The tiny julienned carrots tasted sweet and fresh. The peeled avocado and dressing on the side happily completed the meal. Honestly, since my order to-go came out so fast I can't really say much about the restaurant. Nice, clean restaurant that's part bar-ish and cafe. Dim lighting with large windows pointing to the street. There's also a few tables and chairs outside for you to people watch from. Awesome place for a quick lunch. I have been working in the area for years and SOMA eats has been a constant even through covid (please note their hours might have shortened). My office orders from here often and the salad and sandwiches are generous in portions. My favorite is the meatloaf sandwich which is Indian spiced and has a pepper smear that is spicy, but a good heat. If sandwiches are not something you like, the green goddess baked salmon salad is amazing. Though I have it often through catering, the prices are decent for the portion size. read more

I had the pleasure of getting to try SOMA Eats the other day for a work lunch. It was GREAT. We walked over so that we could order our food to go. Fair warning, this place is PACKED at lunch. It looks like SOMA has their stuff down and gets orders in and food out quickly and efficiently, but it definitely felt cramped in there. The decor is definitely cool. Big walls lined with alcohol (woot woot!) and super cool light fixtures of all different sources hanging on walls and dangling from ceilings. Definitely a cool, modern feel to it. I ended up getting the Deviled Egg Salad Sandwich. Let me tell you, all things that are holy kissed this sandwich before it was given to me. This has to be in like the top five sandwiches I've ever had in my life and that's WITHOUT pickles (I'm a pickle fiend so this is a big deal). The deviled egg aspect of it is amazing. Eggs were diced in a great size and the mixture that that they threw together the make the egg salad portion of the sandwich was SO GOOD. I'm literally salivating thinking about it. The sandwich was tied all together with generous slices of avocado and little chunks of bacon. The bread was nice and toasted and made it that much better. They also gave me a little side container of edamame beans. If you have to try ONE thing from SOMA, it has to be the Deviled Egg Salad Sandwich or else you let yourself and literally your entire family down. read more

I have to admit - the first few times my coworker and I set out to pick up something for breakfast nearby, SOMA Eats never really came to mind for either of us. Being so close to our office, we'd passed by countless times, but we always thought of them as more of a spot to grab drinks after work than a place to get something to eat beforehand. Can't blame us though, considering the racks and racks of wine they sell! With its chic decor and racks of wine, liquor, and alcohol for sale, SOMA Eats is definitely an excellent spot to grab a drink or two with friends. Ironically though, given how I had never thought of SOMA Eats as a breakfast spot, it's kind of funny how that's actually the only thing I've been here for. As such, I can't say what their lunch/dinner offerings are like (primarily salads and sandwiches). At the same time, that's also true for a lot of the places in this part of SoMa/Financial District, so it's not like SoMa Eats is an aberration. Great spot for quick meal, came for a steel cut oatmeal but will be back for a nice beer and something else perhaps. Perused the beer selection while I was waiting and could easily find 5+ I wanted to drink right then, too bad it was the morning. Steel cut oatmeal was a little sweet but fruit was fresh and granola really tied it together. People working really friendly too, great spot! read more

Picked up the baked salmon salad for lunch today after reading that it's their most popular item. No surprise! It was excellent!!! Every bite i picked with my fork seemed like a visit to a Farmer's market!!! Fresh as can be... even the avocado - not a blemish on it! If you want to beat the lunch rush I would come here 12:45PM or later since seating here is crazy. You can nab a few bar seats or if you're lucky some of the tables outside, otherwise you'll have to take it to go. I would recommend ordering online as well if you want to avoid wasting time waiting in line. For around $10 you can get a solid sandwich that is pretty filling. I opted for the roasted turkey sandwich. The sandwich comes loaded with turkey, sun dried tomato spread, avocado, mixed greens, and herbed goat cheese on ciabatta. The sandwich was well made and held up really nicely together. I thought the goat cheese might be overpowering but it really worked well with all the other ingredients. My friends got the turkey meatloaf & pulled pork and really enjoyed those as well. I only thought I would only eat half & save the rest for later but it was super tasty and it didn't leave me stuck with a food coma even after consuming the whole thing. I do feel like the selection is limited if you're craving things other than salads and sandwiches, but all in all, fresh ingredients for a decent price in FiDi. read more

A small restaurant but there are plenty of bar tables and small seats if you want to eat here. Most people come in for lunch, and they have a fantastic selection for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. Their salads and sandwiches are good, and a lot of people come in for take-out, but I quite like sitting next to their bottle shop and gawk at all the wines and spirits they sell. Our office also orders morning pastries from them occasionally and those were just so-so. Overall it's a nice lunch spot, even if it looks a bit generic (sandwiches and salad). The variety is good and the food is yummy, and the pricing is just pretty average for the city. read more

I just got a new lunchtime fave in San Francisco! SOMA Eats can be deceiving from the outside. During the lunch rush, it's bustling with folks and may not stand out as anything too special, but inside is a food and drink oasis! I really dug the open style of the place. There's plenty of seating at tables and the long bar area, which can accommodate plenty of hungry workers. For lunch, they offer a variety of salads and sandwiches. I went with the baked salmon green goddess salad which came with avocado, cherry tomatoes, shredded carrots, mixed greens, baby kale, romaine, and baked salmon (duh) with a creamy basil dressing. I always opt for my dressing on the side as I hate when greens are soaked, and I think that was an awesome way to go here! It was one the best salads I've had in a long time. That being said, I was bummed when I saw a tiny sign by the bathrooms touting a tagine special for that day. Wish they would put these by the front counter to make it better known what's cookin' on that day! The drink selection is MASSIVE. There are fridges lining one corner with craft beers, fresh juices, sodas, and more. Along the wall, you can scope out an impressive selection of craft spirits from vodka to whiskey. It's fun just to take a look! All in all, I probably would've never picked this place on my own, so I'm glad my work schedule led me here. Just looking at the breakfast menu, I'm already drooling and plotting my return. read more

My friends and I were looking for a place near work to play Magic at after work (don't judge us). While most fidi cafes are closed by 6 and the bars are too packed to spread our decks out at... we were very lucky to find this fine establishment. I came here on a weeknight for some drinks. The place has a modern, rustic vibe that was upscale yet casual, which I liked. There is a wall of alcohol bottles lined up across one side that was pretty cool. The servers were incredibly nice and sweet as well. You order upfront and get a number, which they bring over to you. I got a glass of the Sauvignon Blanc ($12) and shared the Charcuterie Platter ($18). I really liked this platter that came with a selection of local rotating cold cuts paired with olives, stone ground mustard, and pickled onions. What better pairing is there? It was pretty neat that they also have a beer or wine flight option too. This is a pretty cool spot to grab drinks after work in the area. It seems like their breakfast and lunch options are very popular here as well (although I'm not in the area during the day time to ever try it). read more

Yo I could get down on SOMA Eats on the regular! Too bad it's in SF and I'm here in the South Bay. But it definitely belongs on the list of top lunch spots in the city...and I will be back. Count on that. A group of us stopped by for a weekday lunch a tad before noon so we missed the crowd and were able to swoop seats at the front bar/counter area. I had a breakfast sandwich that morning followed by hours of snacking inside a conference room, so I went the healthy route and ordered the New Greek Salad w/pulled chicken, olive tapenade, a bunch of other delicious stuff, and a creamy yogurt dressing that was money. It was fresh, flavorful, light and filling all in one. Highly recommend. On top of a really good menu with a mix of salads, sandwiches, and bowls, SOMA Eats has a broad selection of drinks including local craft beers & ciders. Come and get yo lunch on! read more

Happened to be passing by at lunch time and stopped in without knowing anything of the place, and I'm happy that I did. They seem to be pretty busy, which is understandable because the food is delicious and they have a really impressive election of beer and wine available. I had the deviled egg sandwich, which has bacon and peppers in it and is easily the best sandwich of it's kind I've ever had. Atmosphere is good, has a nice vibe, some of the tables are more communal so you could end up eating with strangers but I don't mind that, so not a negative for me. I ate there and as a single on a busy day was able to eat and get out without any trouble or much wait. read more

SOMA Eats is a great restaurant to find something tasty, but also on the healthier side. I enjoyed the Slow Rosted Lamb Sandwich. I really appreciated how generous the portion of lamb was. However, I wish there was a little more of the date almond relish. At some points, there wasn't enough and with the large quantity of lamb, the sandwich was a bit dry. I'd still highly recommend this restaurant. I wish they were open on the weekend so that I could've tried something else on their menu before leaving SF. Note: My friends absolutely love the Turkey Meatloaf Sandwich, so I'd want to try that next. read more

A large group of us came here at lunch and it was a fabulous experience. Everything that was ordered was so fresh and beautifully prepared, especially the salads. The New Greek Salad is definitely something I'll continue to crave and will be a must have on my next visit to SF. Loved the hip and cool ambiance, the huge variety of bottled drinks, beer, and wine. Ordering at the counter was a breeze and food was brought to our table quickly. The line to order can get long but is handled efficiently by friendly employees. Highly recommend! read more

One of my favorite spots to grab breakfast and coffee on-the-go. I typically stop by here when I'm visiting SF for a work trip because service is fast and the food is high quality. Highly recommend the Croque madame - the egg oozes through the sandwich. When the yolk gets absorbed by the ciabatta bread... YUM. I can never finish the sandwich in one sitting so it's strangely perfect for 2 meals for me. It's convenient that they serve good coffee here too so do skip the long line at Blue bottle. read more

I had to order dinner for a small dinner meeting in the city. SOMA Eats was near the meeting location, so I thought I would give a shot at ordering from there. I ordered the meal around noon online to be picked up at 5:30pm. When I arrived at the place around 5:30pm, my order was ready to pick up right at 5:30pm. Their manager told me that he had set aside the 7 cookies I ordered for my order, but it looked like someone sold them. He apologized and said he only had two cookies left which he gave me and asked if I wanted a refund on the cookies or to grab some chocolates. This actually worked out well for my meeting because only two people actually asked for cookies, and I had bought everyone a cookie (because why not give everyone something a little sweet?). I opted to get some chocolates for the meeting, which were a hit with everyone. Food: From what I can tell, everyone enjoyed their food. What I ordered - Salmon Nicoise Sandwich - This is like a tuna fish sandwich meets an egg salad but with salmon instead of tuna. I enjoyed my sandwich, and it was pretty flavorful with the sundried tomato tapenade. Service: Thought service was great. It is amazing to order your food in advance and it being actually ready when you want it to be. TL;DR - Great place to order food for meetings with on-time preparation & the food is pretty good too. read more

They had a nice crisp on the outside and were soft on the inside. I also got a regular coffee, and they do unlimited refills. The place was busy for brunch, and I liked the bear theme. Some of the coffees came in bear-shaped glasses, and some of the lattes had a decorative bear made out of ice.

Walked in on the early evening of 05/22/26 to be snapped at by the waitress handling the tables…read morenear the entrance so thought we would either leave or be in for a bad evening. WRONG We managed to find a table for the 6 of us, including a disabled member, in the back. The waitress and the gentleman assisting her could not have been nicer!! The drinks and food came quickly and was amazingly delicious ( although reviews said it would be)!!! The gentleman employee was especially attentive to assisting the disabled member of our group, even helping her stand and get around. Could not be happier except for not living closer to frequent Buena Vista more often. (PS... had items from gift shop shipped and they were packaged so very well and arrived cross- country within one week) Great experience

One of those iconic San Francisco spots that's absolutely worth visiting. From the moment we walked…read morein, the staff was fantastic from the hostess to the bartenders, everyone was friendly, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. The atmosphere is open, lively, and inviting. We loved the large communal tables where you can share space with other groups and even strike up conversations with new people. It's a fun, social experience that adds to the charm. Of course, the Irish coffees lived up to the hype. The food was decent. The location couldn't be better either, sitting right across the street from the cable car turnaround and the beautiful Aquatic Park, making it a perfect stop while exploring the city.
