My coworkers and I come to Split practically on a weekly basis. We love the salads and the chicken tenders.

Split hits every time. Consequently, I need to start hitting the gym more consistently if I keep eating here. Split is easily the most convenient place for me to get lunch and because it's so good, I've been eating here way too much. My go to is the Crispy D'Lux with the Split Fries, but I've also had the Split Burger and the Fried Egg Sandwich with Applewood Smoked Bacon. All are solid options and you can't go wrong with either one. Keep in mind, however, that these are decent sized sandwiches and are likely to cause drowsiness upon consumption. Thus, you may need that afternoon espresso after downing one of these bad boys for lunch. The only negative is that Split is a popular choice for lunch and the lunch rush can be quite overwhelming. With that in mind, I recommend you either order super early or super late in order to avoid the rush. All in all, Split is quality and I certainly recommend it if you're not overly conscious about your daily calorie intake. read more

My coworkers and I ordered a big group lunch for a Thursday afternoon. I went with the Mandarin salad and an iced tea. Everyone seemed to have something wrong with their order: missing ingredients, ingredients that had been requested to be left out due to food allergies were left in (those people had to find something else to eat nearby), ingredients that weren't supposed to be part of the dish that had been added in. My salad was supposed to have crispy chicken but only had a very small handful, with mainly shredded chicken in its place. The amount of dressing in the tiny cup they give you wasn't nearly enough for the size of the salad, so the bulk of the salad went undressed. The crispy chicken was a bit dry and the entire salad was bland and underwhelming. It was mainly just dry chicken and lettuce with a very small amount of green onions, oranges, and other ingredients mixed in (so negligible I hardly saw or tasted any through most of the meal). The plastic iced tea bottle was incredibly cheap, thin, and flimsy, and the lid was faulty -- I had to pop it open with a knife and the bottle kept dribbling tea everywhere. The chocolate chip cookies were alright, but had clearly started to harden and weren't as chewy as they probably were hours before. This was not a good meal and, looking around at my coworkers sitting nearby at the end of lunch, most people didn't finish their food. I don't like wasting food but I couldn't finish that salad. Split's food looks much better online than in person and reads better on a menu than it tastes. Very disappointing and wouldn't choose this as a lunch option myself if I were in the area. read more

With tax and employee mandate charges, I paid nearly $11 for terrible avocado toast. The bread was thinner than any pre-packaged sliced bread I buy at home and completely soggy, even though I began to eat my toast within literally 2 minutes of them handing it to me (and I had not preordered, either). Solid food and amazing staff! Buckle up it's story time. I work at a start up around the corner and came here for a team lunch with my boss and a few coworkers. We got in line and my boss handed me the corp credit card, gave me his order, and went to find a table for us. I ordered and sat down with my team. A few minutes later I received a text that my order was ready at the pick up counter. I walked over to the counter, reviewed our order, and realized I had made a HUGE mistake. I forgot to order a Crispy Chicken sandwich for my boss!! In an absolute panic, I started to review my options. The lunch rush had already come in and the line was out the door. Do I get back in line or give my sandwich away?? I ended up going with option 3. I put my tail between my legs and told the staff at the pick-up counter what I had done. They immediately sprung into action. Letting me cut the line at the cashier to pay for crispy chicken and handed me my order in less than a minute. I had several employees ask if they had missed my order. Nope, this was 100% on me and they saved my tuchus and probably my career! Doesn't it seem like your lunch choices get more and more limited? I used to work across the street from here and risked my life jaywalking Mission to go not to Mixt Greens where most of my colleagues went but to Murphy's Deli next door where barely anybody went. That's because I much preferred having a pastrami sandwich than a designer salad for lunch. Sure, it wasn't healthy, but it was cheaper even though I had garlic mayo breath when I came back to the office. Then Murphy's became Split (formerly Split Bread) which is a cousin of Mixt (formerly Mixt Greens). Now I'm confused because they appear to serve similar menus in adjacent spaces. Maybe that's what FiDi office drones want to have I recently met a friend and former colleague for lunch here and remembered that I tried the first Split over at the Metreon a few years back. For lunch, they all offer a selection of burgers, sandwiches, and salads. I guess the burgers are what sets Split apart from Mixt. Anyhow, I wisely avoided the ground beef for a change and went with the $12.95 Kale Caesar Salad with Spit Roasted Pulled Chicken because it had avocado, garlic croutons, and shaved Parmesan cheese in it, i.e., all the trimmings (photo: http://bit.ly/2oeacVH). It was decent enough, although the kale was actually a bit on the sparse side for a full-meal salad. It was probably just as well since I wasn't looking to fill myself up. Came here the other day for lunch with some coworkers who were also in the office that day, and I have to say, Split has one of the best fried chicken burgers I've EVER had! Step aside The Bird, there's a new king in town! Having both a breakfast and lunch menu, Split is a great place to stop by whether for the early morning jump start with some yogurt and granola or salmon avocado toast, or for the lunch crowd with some delicious chicken burgers or chicken salads. There's definitely plenty of delicious options to choose from. For my short trek down to Split this time, I had the Crispy D'Lux burger, which consisted of a perfectly fried piece of chicken, that had an amazing crispiness to it, while not soaking in grease and oil. Add some bacon, avocados, pickles, lettuce, and some siracha sauce to spice it up, and sandwich it all in between two perfectly shaped challah buns, and you have yourself a 5 star worthy crispy chicken sandwich. It was so good in fact, that I ate every last crumb as it seemed a crime to let any of it go to waste. Service here is very friendly and efficient, and your order comes out fairly quickly after ordering. Certainly would not hesitate to come here for lunch again in the future! read more

Went today for a late lunch around 2:30 pm. I had the reserve which is the bacon cheese burger and butternut squash. The reserve was awful. The hamburger meat had a foul smell and taste like when hamburger meat that goes bad in the fridge. For a burger that is $12.95 you expect a lot more in terms of quality. Let's cut right to the chase: I had the No. 91 (heirloom tomatoes, fresh burrata, black mission fig jam, basil, mint, and arugula, on toasted ciabatta; $10.95), and although it was tasty (although there wasn't actually any mint or jam, just chunks of fig falling out), it was one of the wettest sandwiches I have ever eaten in my life. And because it was just sooooooooo messy, it actually took away from the flavor as so much of my eating was concentrated on not getting the sandwich juice literally everywhere on everything (my shirt, my pants, the person to the left of me [she got some on her sleeve, shhhhhhhh! don't tell], the person to the left of me, in my hair, all over my face, etc.). I'm also bummed that this was my lone vegetarian option. The afore-mentioned classic fried chicken sandwich holds up surprisingly well for delivery. You get a generous portion of chicken breast fried to crispy tastiness. It's paired very simply with pickles, lettuce, mayo in a soft bun. Very classic combination but also very satisfying. Love their salads especially the picnic kale and mix green salad. I love the addition of the pumpkin seeds, fennel, and roasted potatoes for a very hearty vegetarian salad. The grove salad is pretty decent too if you like your salads to have something sweet in them. My only ding is the tiny bottle of salad dressing that comes with each big catering bowl. My friend took a couple of bites and just ate the chicken. My friend and I shared their **Mixt greens w/ shaved fennel, champagne vinaigrette. I didn't think they gave enough dressing and fennels. The salad was a bit too dry for me and I'm not ones who soaked their salads with dressing. We ate half because the others parts of the salad was without any seasoning and dressing. We also shared the **Split fries w/ herbs and shaved parmesan. I really think it was the person making our plate but our fries were not full and it was mostly burnt. I'm such a sucker for fries and it totally disappoint. I saw the other orders as they were walking pass me and I was jealous. Theirs was full and nicely golden. I am willing to give this a try because I think it can be better. The restaurant itself is very modern. Clean and nice. The line was super long at noon. The people taking the order was slow.
