This should be a good indicator for how much I enjoyed Lapisara. I was in San Francisco for four days and I visited Lapisara three times. Twice for breakfast and once for dinner. The servers are so friendly, kind and hardworking. They truly know what exceptional customer service is about. The food was perfectly prepared and the presentation was so appealing, with the little touches of Thai hospitality. My first breakfast was the Meat Lover's Omelet with House Potatoes. Tasty and it really hit the spot. Great coffee too! Dinner consisted of a flavorful beef Mussamun chili dish. Awesomely tender beef in a savory sauce. A Stella Artois worked well for my drink. My second breakfast was a Belgian Waffle with Chicken Apple Sausage and Scrambled Eggs. Perfection, with fruit accents of banana, blueberries, strawberries and grapes. Came here on a Saturday for brunch. I got the Holy Chili Bomb Basil Omelette. It had ground chicken and veggies inside, and the chicken and basil were the flavors that stood out. I wouldn't call it spicy at all. The omelette felt small for the price and there wasn't much filling inside. It came with a side of potatoes that were really good. They had a nice crisp on the outside and were soft on the inside. I also got a regular coffee, and they do unlimited refills. The place was busy for brunch, and I liked the bear theme. The salmon was fresh and the toast was stacked! My friend wasn't too impressed with the benedict, but it was good. The side salad that it comes with is actually delicious! Came on a Sunday at around noon and it was about a ~15 minute wait for solo dining, not bad! I ordered the Chicken Waffles and it was a lot of food in my opinion, so I'd say the pricing is fair ($26). The fried chicken was crispy and flaky on the outside, and tender on the inside. The ube latte was decent, I felt it was more milky rather than ube flavor. Overall the presentation of food and drink was cute! We ordered a few different dishes to get a feel for the restaurant as a whole. First, the restaurant had ample seating, and we were sat quickly. Seats behind me had enough room for both my party and the party behind us to get out easily. Service was a little slow. Having to ask to refill our coffee should not come up, especially when the restaurant was not super busy. Some of the food was good, some was not what I would have expected. The salted caramel macchiato was cute with the coffee ice bear on top, and tasted good. The Tom Yum burrito was good. It didn't need the sauce but that added even more flavor. I do recommend this. The fried chicken eggs Benedict was mid. I truly expected more from this. The outside part of the chicken had no flavor, and even the hollandaise sauce was slightly disappointing. I'd give it a 3/5. We also ordered the Dungeness crab omelet. It was extremely bland. The crab also was old, it tasted fishy. I would not get that again. This is my FAVORITE brunch place for the food. They have a delicious and unique french toast and everyone I bring here loves it. However, after coming here for over 3 years, they have become way more stingy with the portions and fruits. I attached a recent photo, but they added a lot of fruit and had better presentation back then. There is always a line, so I recommend making a reservation in advance. It gets quite busy and loud so I wouldn't recommend a big gathering here. read more

Wonderful experience, I came on Mother's Day around 12:45pm and had to wait about 30 mins to get seated for a party of 6. The restaurant is beautiful with a lot of natural light, perfect ambiance for a brunch. They even had Mother's Day themed napkins which I thought was very nice. I really enjoyed the Lapisara burger though it's so humongous that it's actually a bit challenging to eat haha. The chicken and waffles were also very solid. I thought the Tom Yum burrito was a bit uninteresting. It was just a lot of rice wrapped up in a tortilla, the tom yum sauce it came with was good but it wasn't enough to make the dish amazing for me. We got the ube latte and iced Thai tea. The ube latte was nutty and delicious. I just wish it had been a tad bit hotter, but I'm sure you can ask for it extra hot. The iced Thai tea was well-balanced and not overwhelmingly sweet. The chicken waffle was also good--especially the chicken itself. It was lightly battered and crisp to perfection. I do wish the waffle was more toasted since it was a bit soggy even with barely any syrup. The fruits were fresh and tasted really yummy. As for the PaNang omelette, it was delicious!! It has that texture verses fried chicken made with all purpose flour. Chicken was juicy and tender. Waffle was fluffy but not crispy. Nonetheless, it was enjoyable. The berries surrounding the waffle were nice and sweet. Portion is a bit smaller than the other dishes that we ordered. 4/5 FRIED CHICKEN EGGS BENEDICT ~ eggs perfectly oozy and delicious with the sauce! Crunchy chicken was good too! I only wished the potatoes had a crisp exterior. Still a yummy dish! 5/5 PERFECT PANCAKES ~ soft and fluffy pancakes with eggs over medium with chicken maple sausage. My cappuccino was delicious, strong, great foam ratio. Her ube latte was not overly sweet and good flavor. (Of course the cute cups were an added bonus). I ordered the panang beef omelette without the toast and it was so good! Flavorful, tender beef, egg was not over cooked and when you broke into the omelette the delicious curry started pouring out. Salad was fresh and potatoes crispy on the outside and creamy in the middle. My fried had the crab omelette which was also very good! It tasted like bacon and chamoy Please avoid ordering the chicken and waffles. The chicken had no flavor at all. The food here was so good: the fried chicken benedict was nicely portioned, the fry wasn't too oily, and for some reason the salad dressing paired so well. The iced bear in the ube latte was really cute and overall the drink was light and sweet. However the Thai tea was overly sweet. I only tried a small bite of the tom yum burrito -- this was my first trying fish sauce in a burrito and I would definitely try this in the future! It took a while to get seated even though the restaurant didn't seem too full for Saturday brunch. The tables are very comfy and service is attentive though! Came here on a Fri morning for a late brunch (10:30 am) - I was staying in Union Square for a work conference and opted to take my out-of-town co-worker to an "Asian fusion" brunch, which seems to be a specialty in California. LOGISTICS If you're staying at a hotel in Union Square, this is a fairly short walk from the area via Post St... it wasn't too sketchy in the daytime. Just be advised not to overshoot or you may end up wandering into the Tenderloin neighborhood, which I don't advise for tourists. Regardless, it's a cute corner restaurant that gets a lot of natural lighting from the windows. Modern decor with airy vibes. We were able to get in without reservations on a Friday morning, but I imagine on weekends it might get crowded so expect a wait or make reservations in advanced by calling or using their email form on the website. FOOD Ube Latte ($6) - Points for presentation - this was served in a glass bear cup. I could taste the sweet potato flavor, so it was a nice morning pick me up to start the day. Whipped cream made it extra decadent. Tom Yum Burrito ($24) - Fusion burritos are popular in the Bay Area, and this one hits the spot. I like how it was super flavorful from the Tom Yum paste mixed in the rice and had quite a bit of protein between the mushrooms, egg, and chicken. They serve it hot so be advised not to burn your tongue when trying to devour it. The tortilla chips they served were also quite good! My only wish was that it came with a better salsa... the tomato based salsa they provided was just OK, but there could have been something more creative done. OVERALL Service was quick and efficient as we were able to order, get our food, and be out in within an hour on a Friday morning. For those on business travel, they're only willing to split checks between two cards. Food is expensive... but comparable to pricing for similar brunch experiences in the Bay Area. I get a little sad knowing I paid $24 for a burrito in CA, but at least it was an interesting one! Hubby and I are staying in the knob Hill district and ordered in from this restaurant twice. The first time we had chicken on a stick and pad Thai both were excellent! Second time we ordered the drunken noodle along with the chicken on a stick extra spicy. Have you had a little hard time with the extra spicy, but I thoroughly loved it. We continued our culinary adventure with crab fried rice-delicious, a large portion and my son who lives in SF and has tried dozens of crab fried rice ranked it in the top tier. The pacific catch rice noodles with crab was also excellent-big portion, lots of crab, tasty. Final entree was their specialty-Mussaman Curry. Wow, tender meat/potatoe "stew" with a very unique flavor from the star anise/cinnamon and peanut--to die for. I checked in on Yelp to get on the list. I walked up and was seated right away. It's located on a corner and it was close by to where we were staying. The latte I ordered came in a cute upside down double lined bear cup. It was so cute. My latte was perfect ($5). Even the mocha latte tasted great ($6). We had the Sweet Dreams waffle with Nutella, it was kind of soggy from the ice cream they could have put the ice cream in a separate cup. I also didn't like how the dirty outside of the butter wrapper was touching the toast. I had the crab egg Benedict and it was just ok. Would have been better as a crispy crab cake than cold crab on not toasted egg muffin with a bunch of salad I didn't eat. I think I'm spoiled from the breakfast places in the South Bay so this didn't seem like anything special. The place was also super small and was crammed next to the table next to me. We didn't have high expectations coming to this eatery as we were walk-ins and expected a long wait, or maybe decide to eat somewhere else since there were 13 reservations ahead of us! However, a big table opened up and since we were a party of six, we didn't have to wait long on a Sunday at 11AM! Our fave was the ube latte with a shot of espresso. We requested less sweet (less ube syrup) and it came out so good! We also ordered multiple orders of chicken and waffles, huevos rancheros, dungeness crab benedict and basque cheesecake. Satisfied! Truly some of the best brunch I've had in SF. My gf's chicken and waffles were really delicious, it's always her go to here, and my croissant sandwich genuinely blew me away. The aioli was to die for! The berry mimosa liter was also STRONG we shared it and both left pretty tipsy. Very busy however so plan for that + I found the flavored lattes were ridiculously priced so be forewarned. Need to try more brunch in the city but loved this spot. I had the Tom Yum burrito, and it really captured the essence of the soup, with house-made tortilla chips that paired perfectly. The steak and eggs (medium well) were spot on, and every egg dish was cooked perfectly. The salmon toast was absolutely delicious.
