Snacks like bagged chips may be available but you can also bring your own food from outside. Now the trivia enthusiasts we are, we will probably not make this as our destination but instead go elsewhere because most of the crowd seemed a little too drunk that we personally couldn't enjoy much but that is just my personal opinion because it is still a very popular place with lot of events they have over the week. The flavors are fun and fruity and I have to say they have a really nice variety for being a small place. The clear winner for me was the Slappi da basil, a delicious blend of blueberries and basil. It's definitely up there with my all time favorite mead. Mass A Peal was good as was the Blood orange which was made with vanilla bean for a sweet creamcicle like treat. I will definitely be back.

It did NOT disappoint. It was AMAZING! The staff was so knowledgeable, helped guide my selections based on wine and beer preferences, and to make it even better they even had a flight. It's also on the 419 Ale Trail, which if you are visiting Toledo was a lot of fun to participate in (Google it and check it out - it's a a self paced brewery tour that gives prizes when you hit a certain number). While we water for food it was the perfect time to decide what we were going to drink. They were offering a hybrid cider/IPA made with Koji and in conjunction with Larder. It was so refreshing. It's refreshing to see this at the brewery. There's a large wooden bar perfect for guys' nights. Secluded room with twinkling bottles descending from the ceiling that's ideal for celebrations. Enclosed patio for friends' get togethers. Large open space for groups and events. More dim area for intimate dates. I personally found the dim area to be too dim for my eyes. I love that one can go to this mead hall, and experience a different setting every single time. FOOD/DRINKS: BottleHouse Lakewood has a kitchen as opposed to the East Side's food partnerships/pop-ups. We didn't order food but the book swappers were raving about their fries. My friend and I were most interested in our BottleHouse favorite - mead. I tasted their sweeter meads before and loved them. I ordered Metropolis mead this time (highly recommended by the bartender). My mead was the color of bold red wine. Metropolis was described as a semi-dry black currant apple mead with spices (clove and allspice). This mead wasn't my favorite, it was too acidic, bitter, and bold. For the pour size it wasn't worth over $12. I more gravitate toward golden and light meads. While I won't be sipping on Metropolis again, I look forward to checking out other meads here. If you're also a mead fan, find the list of their four meads in red on the chalkboard at the bar. SERVICE: Service was amicable. Most service was self-initiated at the bar. Drinks and food can be ordered at the bar. Your servers will find you by the number you will be provided. Now, it's $5 per person, and instead of a peaceful scenic ride, it stops at every station and they no longer give you a donut & cider with ticket purchase. When we asked about the change, we were told it was because they weren't making money off the old setup. I understand businesses need to adjust, but it really took away from the experience. That scenic ride with the cider and donut was always one of the highlights for us ; something we truly looked forward to every year. They did add more bouncy houses for the kids, which is nice, but the ones they had before were just as fun. The food was about the same, decent, but nothing special. It was noticeably more expensive this year. $5 for a single ear of corn felt excessive. On the positive side, the cinnamon donuts are still amazing, and the apple cider is as delicious as ever. I also enjoyed the wine tasting, which is always fun, though seating is still limited and could be improved. Overall, the visit just didn't have the same charm or warmth as before.
