This spot is located right next to TESO, which makes it easy to find. I love how amazingly simple and consistent somisomi is and this location is no exception. They had the Sakura Berry for the spring when I visited, which I had it with the Ube, and my only regret was not being able to eat another one.
Got cookies n cream with choco pebbles and oreo crumbs. They also give you a macaroon or strawberry on top! All these toppings came with the order. I also got black sesame filling for my taiyaki which is just okay to me. The workers were nice and quick with our ah-boong.
SomiSomi is one of those places that looks incredible but doesn't quite deliver on flavor. The presentation is definitely Instagram-worthy--the taiyaki cone is cute, the soft serve swirl looks perfect, and the toppings are colorful. Unfortunately, that's where the excitement ends. The soft serve itself was pretty bland and icy, lacking the richness or depth you'd expect, especially from flavors like matcha. The fish-shaped waffle cone looked great but was dry and not very flavorful, which made the whole dessert feel unbalanced. I really wanted to like it because the concept is fun and the visuals are on point, but taste-wise it just didn't live up to the hype. If you're stopping by purely for photos, you'll probably be satisfied. If you're coming for a memorable dessert, this one may leave you underwhelmed. Might give it another shot with different flavors, but first impression was more style than substance.
I am amazed how they can make every flavor super creamy yet doesn't over power the flavor. I always stop by when I shop at Teso or eat at the plaza, and the place is never not busy. Service is always quick and friendly, lighthearted music playing in the background, very chill. Only thing I wish they can offer is that we can mix and match the flavors ourselves but I know it's not within the staffs' control. Got the matcha and cookies n crème mix this time with biscoff dust and cocoa pebbles. Love the hint of fragrant tea, not too bitter. We also ordered the hotteok flavor taiyaki too which is offered for limited time. The filling has lots of nuts and strong sweet cinnamon, little too sugary for me, won't get again but good for a try. They changes the flavor every couple weeks I think so it's like opening a blind box for ice cream, makes me keep coming back for more surprises.

I only wish the goldfish waffle was warm as the filled Taiyakis, but otherwise it was delicious. Not too many places to seat on a busy Saturday night, the place was pretty busy. I'm no stranger to SomiSomi - I've been loving their taiyakis for a few years now. This location is really cute, and well kept (love that!). There is not a lot of seating but that's pretty common across SomiSomi locations. There is a standing bar. I came in on a Saturday, the service was a bit slow but it was kind of busy at the time also. I tried the new Pure Peach Bliss flavor in my upside down sesame ahbong, it's amazing!! The portion is large for me so I didn't finish but it was really good - not too sweet or overpowering, just enough peach flavor to leave a good impression. The taiyaki this time seems too flaky, it broke off too easy, however, it tastes great!
We first tried SomiSomi in California and when we found out there was one near us, we had to come. The store is located in a shopping strip with many other Asian restaurants, bakeries, and supermarket. Inside it is as cute as the one in California. We ordered two upside down ahboong. The person at the register kindly took our order. I shared a custard filled matcha with my son and my husband shared a custard filled cookies 'n cream with our daughter. They were as good as I remembered it. The soft serve was creamy and full of matcha flavor. The fish was warm with great texture.
Great! Grandma's favorite. She was happy. All that matters :) Thank you for being a part of her special day!
It is worth the rave. Friends highly recommended this place and it was so tasty! Only wish we could have had it one more time before leaving Houston!

I definitely recommend getting the upside down as it allows to try the filled taiyakai along with the soft serve in a cup so it doesn't melt and get messy to eat. Their menu changes with the flavor of soft serve. I would definitely recommend getting the Ube if it's available. You also get to pick the toppings along with if u want a strawberry or macaroon on top.

The portion size is generous IMO for the price, and I could've easily split this with a friend. Service was quick. No sampling is offered but if you've had these flavors before, you know what to expect. The vibe here was cute, and it's right next door to a fun supermarket. Parking is easy since it's located in a plaza.

This place is excellent and so cute. On one occasion, I went there right when they opening for the day and there were already people waiting outside. The menu is very simple but offers so much! I had the taiyaki fish waffle-- one with nutella, the other with cheese. That was really good because it's cooked and melted in a way that is warm but not too hot to the touch. I also enjoyed a matcha-ube swirl soft serve! Just so smooth and delicious. I topped it off with biscoff and coconut flake crumbles. There is plenty of seating inside with a roomy parking lot within a lovely mid size storefront shopping plaza. Perfectly situated next to Teso market. I also love how the windows let in lots of natural light. This is a great place to enjoy a culturally styled dessert. read more

We got the ube upsidedown ahboong with fruity pebbles and custard taiyaki, upsidedown, ube aboong with biscoff crumbles and nutella taiyaki, & matcha aboong with custard taiyaki. If you were to pick between the aboong vs upside down ahboong, get it upside down. It makes it much easier to eat. Kind service, clean store. I feel like they are understaffed on weekends though. read more

Came back for another round and tried the Milk & Strawberry flavor with matcha powder sprinkled on top. Unfortunately, the Matcha & Ube options were unavailable during our visit since the matcha machine was broken, which was a bit disappointing considering those were some of the flavors we were most excited for. (It's also my BF's favorite flavor combination). The Milk and Strawberry flavors were a bit too sweet for me personally, but I still enjoyed the overall flavor and texture (they're really good with this). I really wish we could've tried more of the menu, but unfortunately, the options we wanted just weren't available. read more

One of my kids' most all time favorite dessert spots. This Somi Somi location is super clean and inviting. Their soft serve and taiyaki is always consistently delicious and made to perfection. Will always make a stop here if I'm ever in the area and with my kiddos! read more

A classic. I've visited somisomi times, but it just never misses. Their soft serve is so creamy and whipped and they always have new flavors weekly plus swirls of different combinations. I always get the upside down ahboong so you get to try out their taiyakis as well. What I love most though is that their topping are all free and you can dust your soft serve with whatever you'd like. The cashiers are always so sweet and you can tell they make each order special and with care! Definitely need to check it out for unique and delicious asian inspired flavors. read more

I love the Somisomi franchise and was still craving dessert after shopping nearby. Weekend was busy but service was quick. Larger seating area compared to the other location I've been to in the past. Got the ube soft serve in a cup with oreo bits as the topping (decided not to add a complimentary strawberry slice or macaron). Super delicious; I love ube! Got to try some of the sweet corn + matcha soft serve with an upside down taiyaki (matcha filling). Matcha flavor is strong and the sweet corn was good. Will definitely be back in the future! read more

I was craving taiyaki and found this place in the new Westheimer Asia town! I was actually curious to check out this area so jumped at the opportunity to head over there. There's plenty of parking and the whole area was pretty busy on a Saturday night. For the taiyaki, you have to get two at a time, which was kinda dissappointing since I knew I wouldn't be able to resist eating them both! I ended up getting the custard and the oreo. The custard was pretty good - it was more of a creamy custard and not a true custardy consistency if that makes sense. Still good though! The outside was nice and crispy. The oreo one was more of like an oreo crumble in the middle. I think I liked that one more actually. Overall, enjoyed my taiyaki and they also have lots of different flavors and ice cream too, so most likely I'll be back! read more

We love Somisomi! We frequent the Katy location and so happy that a closer one has opened up nearby! Somisomi is typically soft serve and also known for the taiyaki, which probably could best be described as a waffle shaped into a fish and filled with your choice of custard, nutella, red bean, oreo, black sesame cheddar or matcha. My personal faves are custard, nutella, red bean and oreo. Most locations change their flavors weekly - most flavors will repeat, but their twisted menu (2 flavored swirls) will typically change. You can get the soft serve in a cup, with a cone or with an upside cone. You can add your choice of topping (sprinkles, fruity pebbles, oreo, etc) and either a strawberry or macaron shell. Order the taiyaki separately to get it fresh and crunchy! read more
Nut allergy friendly - Their menu is labeled with nut allergens, and I usually avoid the taiyaki because Nutella is a filling option. Anyone who knows Asian dessert shops knows SomiSomi, and it is truly a blessing that they've opened another location in a prime growing plaza next to two major Asian stores (99 Ranch and Teso Life). Their opening swirl flavors (which may change over time, weekly or seasonally) are their classic Milk / Strawberry, Cookies and Cream / Banana Milk, and Ube/Matcha. The Ube Matcha is simply amazing, perfecting the flavors of both and adding complexity with matcha powder (toppings are included in the price). Service is fast, with my order coming out in about 5 minutes with 5-6 people ahead of me. SomiSomi is the gold standard of desserts at this price point (less than $5 for a huge serving in a cup) and this location is no exception. read more

Don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with the taiyakis here. It was good. But having to wait for more than 3 minutes just to get your order taken, when there's no one in line before you? My order ended up being a total of $5.35 for two taiyakis(pretty ordeal pricing) but when I gave exactly $5.35, but the cashier gave me $4.65 (saying she couldn't take the change?)...girl what? The inside is fairly clean and nice ambiance....service aside, would not recommend...serving taiyaki with a free side of attitude? Didn't know that was in the included training process?....also she gave me the wrong order.... read more
I got the matcha soft serve with a custard taiyaki and it was so yummy!! The taiyaki was chewy and soft, and the amount of custard filling was perfect! I also ordered an additional custard and red bean taiyaki, and they were super fresh and warm. I really enjoyed it!! read more

Amazing!! Got the Upside Down Ahboong with matcha & cookies and cream swirl, Nutella, and cap n crunch topping. The best soft serve flavor and texture. The taiyaki was delicious! Very chill ambiance and quick service on a Friday around lunch time. Spacious with small tables, benches, and stools along each side, plenty of parking. I can't wait to go back. read more

Amazing service and atmosphere! When we arrived, the place was full, but the staff was super friendly and efficient. The ambiance was so pleasant and cute--it made the whole experience even better. After a trip to the new Teso Life next door, we were curious to see what Somisomi was. We were pleasantly surprised! I've always wanted to try taiyaki after having seen it on social media years ago. I finally did! (For those uninitiated, taiyaki is a Japanese cake shaped like a fish and typically filled with red beans.) Somisomi serves up taiyaki on top of delicious soft serve ice cream with toppings to boot! They also have a small selection of drinks, including strawberry milk, which they advertised on their storefront. My brother-in-law ordered the strawberry-matcha swirl soft serve adorned with a macaron. My sister and I absolutely devoured a taiyaki with red bean atop a delightful banana-ube swirl! The ice cream was very banana-forward, reminiscent of a good banana pudding. The taiyaki itself was like a waffle consistency, with the sweet red bean filling inside. Like Menchie's, our orders came with cute plastic spoons festooned with cartoon fish and ice cream. (I saved them from the landfill so I could reuse them for yogurt). I would definitely go back to try their other flavors! I'm so happy I finally got to try taiyaki! read more

I really like the taiyaki here. It has a really good mochi like texture that's chewy, and the exterior is nice and crispy. They're also made to order so it's extremely fresh and hot when you get it. My favorite flavors are the matcha custard, Nutella, and custard fillings. The filling to taiyaki ratio is perfect and the flavor is not too sweet. This location does have seating but it's like benches than proper tables and chairs, so I wouldn't hang out in there, but you could quickly eat your food there. read more
