I called to explain I needed two exterior trim parts replaced under warranty and scheduled an appointment for the following week. I showed up for the appointment and no parts were ordered. So I wasted a half hour driving there from the opposite side of town, and another half hour back. Apparently the service department doesn't order parts because they asked ME if I ordered them. I ranked a 1 star because of the following. I bought this 2021 AT4 in January with 63,000 as a "certified" vehicle. Amagine my surprise when I was told that the 50K service hasn't been performed and it would cost me $800 and take all day. I asked my service manager, "I can't believe this wasn't done to be certified" and I was told it's not a requirement for certification. Really! Now I understand because the new owner, ME will be responsible for it! I think it's a shame that this was NOT revealed to me when I bought the truck. It will make me think twice where I buy my next vehicle. Thinking I have a certified vehicle that ALL of the required maintenance is up to date gave me a peace of mind that I was getting something great. Just goes to show you buyer beware even on GM certified vehicles. The airbag light notification has come on in my car; my 2017 Subaru has leather heated seats, and after looking up the recall on the airbag sensor, I called Sommer Subaru immediately to have it serviced. She said my vin number doesn't have an open recall, but how many people have their airbag light suddenly come on at 100mi one summer, when the car is sitting in direct sunlight? It has been two weeks since their switchboard girl took our call, and they have not called us back. I'm almost POSITIVE it is so they don't have to replace, due to the KNOWN airbag sensor issue AND recall in models like mine. I would like Subaru to take responsibility for this replacement - as it IS a known Subaru issue, but their lack of attention to such a serious issue, which could cause death in the event of an accident due to the airbag failing to pop, seems like a pretty serious concern. I also was looking to get my CD player replaced, as I bought the car used and it doesn't work. I'll be taking my money elsewhere for the CD player. read more

I had an appointment scheduled for a recall on my 2021 Subaru Crosstrek. I scheduled the appointment online. I originally said I was going to drop it off, but then said I would wait for it as the letter said it will take approximately 40 minutes. I called Sommers to ask how long it would take, the service person I spoke to said 45 minutes. My appointment was at 4:15. I received an email asking me about what was being done at the appointment, I responded that it was for the recall. The next day I was called about the appointment and spoke with a lady about it. She never mentioned it takes an hour and I will have to drop it off and come back the next day. I did tell her I was planning on staying and waiting for the work to be completed. I arrived at my appointment and they told me they wouldn't be able to fix my vehicle because they leave at 5pm and it takes an hour to fix. I said I had no one to drive me. Did they offer me a loaner vehicle? No. They said I had to reschedule for an earlier appointment! read more

I traded in my Impreza for a used Forester in Feb 2019. When I got home, I realized there was no vehicle manual in with the papers. Omar, my salesman, said he'd order one for me. Four months later, no manual. Since the vehicle had only one key with electronic entry fob, they said they'd order me another but that it would take "a while" as they have to order them and they come from Japan. (Should have gotten that in writing.) A couple months later, no key. Omar had me talk to Parts. Parts didn't know anything about it but ordered the key (which arrived pretty quickly), but when I finally went in to have it coded to the car, service knew nothing about it. Good thing they didn't charge me. I also had a single spare key coded, and told them I'd pay for that. They said, "Oh, we'll talk to a manager and figure it out next week." I never heard from them. I was told the vehicle had new tires (should have gotten that in writing), but in the last month have gotten two "you need new tires" notices from them. Which is it? Today the car wouldn't start. I'd been told (should have gotten that in writing) I would have roadside assistance, but when I gave them the VIN, they said it was expired. What about the service I paid for with my Impreza, I asked? Nope, they said, can't use that. I called the dealership. I was very upset. They wouldn't let me talk to anyone in sales--they were headed to a meeting. Instead I was passed to a service advisor. Poor guy, he couldn't help me. When I confronted them, they were unapologetic, aggressively rude, called me a liar, and when I told them they'd be sorry, the manager Glen got in my face (nose to nose) and told me he'd sue me if I told others about my experience. He also called the cops on me. Worst customer service I've ever experienced! I could have bought a similar Subaru for 6k less from a different dealer but I passed because it was in an accident. I work in the service industry and wouldn't dream of treating a client in such a manner. No matter how great a Sommer's salesperson may be, you will likely have to endure the quintessentially bad used car salesman experience on your way out the door. So when insurance settled etc. she went back to Sommers to buy another car used/2012 was told all is great. I bought a new car this week - picked it out on Friday noon, put down a deposit, and picked it up Monday after 6 PM. Nice car but it had a whistling sound on the right side anytime the car went over 30 MPH. I called and they said, "oh yeah, we know what that is. There is a fix kit for that. come back in and it will take us an hour to fix it." Really, you knew for 3 days I was coming in to pick up my new car and you didn't have it ready? I live an hour from the dealership so now have to go back for something that should have been ready on Monday at the pick up. Nice people but need more attention to detail. On a return trip to Sommers, an hour drive back and forth each way, they said the noise was from the roof rack bars and they don't have a fix for it unless we take the bars off. $1064.00 service bill and no customer service whatsoever. disrespect at it's finest. Will seriously be reconsidering whether or not to buy my next Subaru from Sommer's. I have two Subaru's currently and have no intention on changing. I have to say I am completely disappointed with the service I received yesterday at Sommers. I took in my 2012 legacy for a 60,000 mile service. I also had them complete a transmission service and a front and rear differential flush and fill. I was just trying to be a responsible Subaru owner and keep this car going well past 200,000 miles. Something I have come to love and respect about Subaru's. It started off poorly from the beginning. I scheduled my service online and was to drop my car off at 7:45 am. I has also requested the shuttle transport to my work (7 minutes away). When I arrived at 7:35 I dropped off my car but was told the shuttle service driver had already left with someone else and would not be back for at least 30 minutes. Obviously, I would have been late to work had I waited. Thankfully a family member was able to pick me up and drop me off at work. Crisis averted. I was told that my vehicle would be done by 3:00pm (noted on invoice below), and I would receive a call at that time informing me that the shuttle driver was on his way to my work to pick me up and take me to the dealership to pick up my car. 3:00pm comes and no call. 3:10 pm comes an no call. 3:20pm comes and no call. So I pick up the phone and call the service department. I was told by a friendly customer service representative that all of the "Service Advisor's" were busy, but I could leave my name and number and someone would get back to me shortly. Fair enough, I thought. 3:50pm comes and still no call. Now I am getting nervous. I have a 4:50pm appointment in Milwaukee that I cannot miss. I call the service department again. I am told by another friendly customer service representative that all of the "Service Advisor's" were busy. I explained to the representative that this would not do and I would need to speak with a manger. After a short hold I am speaking with a "Service Advisor". I inquire about my car and am told it will be about 45 minutes to an hour. I explain that this will not work and I have an appointment I cannot miss. I was told my car would be done by 3:00pm. The service advisor proceeds to put me on hold to go speak with the mechanic performing the maintenance. He comes back on the line and says they will have the car done in 15 minutes and that shuttle driver will be at my office in 10 minutes to pick me up. 4:15pm, there is no shuttle driver. I call the service center and explain the situation. While waiting on hold the shuttle driver arrives. I get the to dealership at 4:30 pm. I quickly check out and pay my bill. $1064.00. No explanation of service. No apologies for being late. No service, period. I get out of the dealership at 4:42pm. I try to make my appointment but arrive more than 15 minutes late and miss my window. So not only was Summer's 1 hour and 37 minutes late I wasted over an hour driving downtown and back for no reason. I had to reschedule for next Tuesday. What amazes me is that I dropped my vehicle off at 7:35am and they weren't able to complete the service until 4:37pm. Clearly they waited around all day to get my car. I can only assume other "unscheduled" vehicles came in for service and in an attempt to make more money they tried to get more done than they could in the amount of time they had. The most frustrating part was the complete lack of responsibility and customer service. Being in a customer service center industry I understand that things happen and everything does not always go according to plan. However, when something does come up and I cannot make a promised deadline I reach out to the customer proactively and apologize for the delay. This is basic customer service 101. Now, to prove that I am not some crazy yelper I have attached copies of my invoice below which will corroborate all of my above statements. I bought my 2020 Subaru Forester at Sommers brand new. On the first issue had a pin hole in the the ac and gave me a loaner all 3 days later got my car. 2nd visit first oil change informed the intake person I believe was Steve I told him that there is a syncing issue. He gets in the car and says nothing wrong with it now Climate control so each passenger can set it to their own liking. He treated me like I was dumb I even said can't you put it in and have the mechanic look at it after all he was the check car in person said "well why it's going to do the same thing for them". I answered YOU are not the mechanic got oil changed. Guess what synching issue continued. This time we decided to take it to Wilde Subaru where the check in person jumped in drove the car and said YES this is an issue. Made appointment took it in and fixed in one day. People skills, communication, and customer service and satisfaction is what buys people to return. We will NO longer be going to Sommers for anything. I suggest you do the same. read more

Purchased a car from Josh at Sommers. I was at the end of a lease so I needed a car before that ran out. I ordered a Crosstrek Premium from them. I wanted a moonroof AND satellite radio. Despite not seeing this combo as an option on the Subaru website, Josh assured me that it could be ordered. It took roughly three weeks for the ordered car to arrive. I was, quite obviously, excited. Upon seeing the interior, I couldn't find the controls for the satellite radio. I asked Josh about that, but he insisted it was installed. He then excused himself. After he was gone for 15 minutes (huddled with others sales staff), he returned and informed me that they couldn't get satellite and a moonroof. It just blew me away that the sales staff (or maybe just Josh) was THAT uninformed about the options on their cars. Ultimately, because of the pressing absence of a car at the end of the lease, I went ahead with the purchase. But I doubt I'd return or recommend them to anyone. read more

We were in the market for a new Subaru Forrester. Everyone at the dealership was pleasant. We started off as no pressure, but then as we got closer to talking a deal, the gloves came off. Pressure increased, mainly due to the "buddy" relationship the sales person was trying to achieve. We left to think it over. Called another dealer who beat their "rock bottom" price and bought the car from the other dealer. Not a bad dealership, but they think they have the market on Subaru's because they have the largest inventory. They do not. Shop around. First off, I love Subaru. I'm a brand loyal fan-boy. There are a few options within 150 miles of North Milwaukee for buying a new Subaru from the Fox Valley to the State Line and I visited them all in 2006 when I knew what I was buying. I've been returning to Sommer's ever since 2006 when I bought my Impreza. There have been a very minor hiccups over the last 100,000 miles. A lug nut loose after a tire swap. A dipstick not seated properly after an oil change. Basically anything that they turn the 18 year old high school seniors loose on; the simple stuff you'd (wrongly) pay a Jiffy Lube twice as much to screw up for you. For the major stuff, they have a long established team for maintenance and they know their Subbies. Try asking them a few impromptu technical questions ("What's the standard offset on that? Is it a stock 19mm rear sway or is it 20mm?") as you hand the keys over and they know the correct answers without any hesitation. Basic service like oil changes run ~$22 with the coupon they send out before service and they do a nice job washing the car every time you bring it in. You get every fifth change free. I have never had a problem getting a loaner for even minor service. They'll hand you the keys to one of about 25 cars they keep on hand as loaners without batting an eye. Buying my car new was simple. I had done my research. I knew my price and their break even point. The "negotiation" was over in minutes. Low hassle. I bought new from them once and will again in the future. For my Subaru loving friends, they are very mod friendly as well. If I have to explain that, just ignore this... it's not meant for you. I'm not sure anyone who "knows cars" can ever love a dealership but Sommer's has always treated me well, they are technically sound, fairly priced, and that's rare in a dealership. read more

Stay away from this dealership. I purchased a Subaru Forester 2020 on June 30, 2020, which was financed through Subaru. I told them that I would be registering my car in PA, and they said there is a company that handles it for them. They said I just need to pay $4 for a temporary Wisconsin plate. I purchase the vehicle and left the dealership. One week later, I received a message from Sony, the financial person, who asked me to call him. I called and left several messages, and he never called me back. Finally, after several days of calling and leaving several messages, I was able to talk with him, and he told me that the other company could not handle my car registration, and I have to register it myself in PA. I asked: "What about all taxes and registration fees that I paid?" He said we would send you a check with that amount in a few days. I waited for three weeks but did not receive any check. Finally, four weeks after buying the car, I drove to this dealership, found Sony, and asked for my check. I found out that they never mailed any check! I had to sit there and wait for them to issue and deliver my check. This was just one of the problems with this dealership. My other problem is car registration. It has been seven weeks since the date that I bought my car, and they have not sent my car title to Chase bank yet. As a result, I was not able to register my car yet. I called Sony and left a message and never called back. Finally, I called Sommer's Subaru today and talked with a lady in the title department (Alex), she checked the system and told me that they had not received any title from DMV yet. Really? After seven weeks? Considering my previous bad experience of not sending my check, I doubt if they even applied for a title. We all know that DMV is not that slow. Overall, it is a terrible mistake to buy a car from this dealership. Stay away from this dealership. I will update this review as my case progresses. read more

Curt George was my salesman, I couldn't have found a nicer, more informative and patient person to work with. Curt explained everything about the car and answered every question I had. Never any pressure to purchase extras that I really didn't need. Curt found the car that was perfect for me and my needs. I just went back for my Love Encore Delivery appointment. After my first encounter with a used car salesman at a different dealership, I was dreading the rest of my car shopping. However, even in my email correspondence with Aaron Hammel, this seemed a little different from the other salesmen I had talked to/emailed. Originally I found a car online that I liked, but as I was in San Diego at the time, I couldn't really just pop on down for a test drive. Their internet sales team first contacted me and asked me if there were other cars I was looking for and what requirements I wanted in a car. While the original car I had looked at sold before I got a chance to go out and see it, Aaron sent me the links to a load of cars they had just gotten into stock... all the same make and model, just different years. My first week here in Wisconsin was a bit chaotic to say the least and while Aaron checked up on me, he didn't badger me (pun totally intended!) constantly. The other salesmen were calling me multiple times during the day while I was at work. You can imagine how annoying that is, especially when you are trying to make a good impression on your first couple days at work. I made it out on a Saturday morning... about 10:30 a.m. In no time I was test driving a car... he showed me everything they had and I chose one with the intent that if the financing didn't yield the numbers I wanted, that I would take a look at the other options. The numbers surprised me and came out right within my budget! Aaron went ahead and started the paperwork. It came out that I had not yet purchased car insurance, so I called the company that I had received a quote for... I was on the phone for what seemed like eternity, but while I was on the phone, they were taking care of the paperwork. So when I finally got off the phone, I was swept away into the financing office where Chad explained all the paperwork, even explained my credit score and how I could improve it. On top of all this, I had a rental car and Aaron offered to call the company and see if they could come and pick it up so I could drive away in my car. He arranged it so the company would come and get the car on Monday (since they are closed on Sundays)! They got the car ready and by 12:30 p.m. I was on the road. The only reason I took away a star is that they shampooed the carpets and the floor mats and they weren't dry, so they put the floor mats in the trunk. I tried to leave the windows down when I could, but the wet smell overtook the car. I have put some baking soda down and vacuumed, hopefully it will subside... if not, there maybe some words. Also may have been nice to get a full tank of gas, but a free oil change in a few months is nice too. Dealerships have come a long way in 25 years. My first car, dealership was dirty, personnel looked and acted shifty, you know what I mean. Sommer's is a good example of the new breed. Clean, respectful, polite. There's still an underlying current of the customer is to be scammed, which is more a criticism of the industry, but I still have my spidey sense on high alert when talking to the sales staff. They act pleasant and try to be buds, but if you let your guard down for a second, whoa! They slipped in an extended warranty on me after I told them *EXPLICITLY* that I did not want it, and didn't notice until later. The sales rep claimed he didn't do it, the guy in the back office claimed he didn't know what I was talking about. I might go back, but buyer beware. read more

Purchased our 2020 Subaru! Contacted them because we buy our cars through Costco, and they had us go to Sommers! Rod contacted me, was so very friendly gave me all the information about the car and what it would cost! Even gave us a better deal than the Costco price! We needed to set up an appointment to go down and look at it. Drove the 115 miles! We met with Justin to test drive the vehicle. John the manager came over and welcomed us and told us if there was anything he could do to help us to just let him know. Justin was excellent at his job! He made purchasing a new vehicle stress-free. Everyone from the front desk lady were so welcoming and made you feel at home! After having the car for two days, they contacted us to see what questions we had. With the car having so many features, they said they will help until we understand all of them!
