Driving into the store from Surprise where I live, no concern or sincere of any urgency. Instead, I was treated with very poor customer service. I was expected to wait for days to hear back from someone. After 2 days of calling the store and being frustrated. I was told I had to wait until the next week in order for the guy who makes them, to come back from out of town and remake a new one. The store had a whole basket of the same item "Except those were double magnets" and I only purchased the single magnet". To make things right and avoid customer frustration. No one offered to upgrade or anything else, I had to ask options to just upgrade and be done with it. What a JOKE, I was offered a discount to upgrade. Basically, around the same price if I'd just purchased the double magnet mount. Pay Double The $$ for a product that only lasted 1.5 months. I DON'T THIONK SO. I only purchased it because I was told the store made these. I was trying to support a small company. Not After This. I'm done dealing with this place. Completely different attitude when addressing a defective product they sell. Unless your dropping $$$ the day of the visit, expect to get bare minimum for customer service when there is an issue. They won't be getting any $$ from me after this encounter.

I purchased premixed saltwater for my reef tank from Artistic Aquariums in Chandler yesterday at…read moreapproximately 3:45 p.m. This morning, while preparing to perform maintenance before leaving town tomorrow, I tested the premixed water with my calibrated digital refractometer. The salinity measured only 1.021, which is below safe level for a reef tank. Because I needed to use the water before my trip, I called the store around noon to ask what salinity they mix their water to and whether I could receive a refund or replacement if I was accidentally sold the wrong solution. I went to the store so I could demonstrate that I had not used the water and to work toward a reasonable solution before discarding it. The employee working that day was new, working alone, and genuinely did everything she could to help me. She was kind, patient, and professional throughout the entire interaction. Unfortunately, she had very limited authority and had to repeatedly contact the owner for direction. My disappointment is not with her, it is with the ownership and leadership. While there, we tested the water together. Their refractometer read approximately 1.024, while my calibrated tester consistently read 1.021-1.022. I recalibrated my tester in front of her and received the same results. I wasn't demanding confrontational or disrespectful. I tried to compromise. I requested either a refund or, at the very least, a store credit since the product was less than 24 hours old and unusable for my aquarium. The owner declined both requests. Instead, I was offered only two options as a "one-time courtesy": * Dump the water and refill the container with more of the same water that day. * Return within one week for a replacement. Neither option was workable because I was leaving town the following day. I even asked if the one-week timeframe could be extended since I would be away, but the answer was no. I also asked to speak directly with the owner. I was told he was too busy and would call me later. What makes this even more frustrating is that the store has a posted 14-day return policy, to which should apply to this product per the small print, and this purchase wasn't even 24 hours old. The one-week limitation I was given did not appear to align with the store's posted policy or with what I believe is reasonable customer service. To verify my equipment wasn't the issue, I stopped by Kona Reef and tested their premixed saltwater with my calibrated tester. Their water measured 1.025, confirming that my tester was reading accurately. This isn't really about an $8 purchase. It's about accountability, consistency, and standing behind the products you sell. I made every reasonable effort to find a fair compromise, but I left without a workable solution. If you value customer service and ownership that stands behind their products, I would encourage you to consider this experience before choosing to do business here.

This company is GREAT! Chris was hired on 3 or so years ago to service our office tank and it has flourished ever since. If we have a specific request for a certain colored coral or fish he has been able to provide it. He is always pleasant when servicing the tank, answering any questions we have and offering help and advice to keep the tank happy and healthy (such as being maxed out on our fish amount, even though we want more it could cause issues with the tank). The prices are easy to work with and they've been an honest and fair service company. I would recommend Son of a Fish to anyone looking for a beautiful fish or reef tank but not wanting the task of maintaining it personally. read more

I was gifted an aquarium along with the promise to keep it clean. Of course that did not happen. I called Chris on a Sunday (he answered) and the next day another Chris was out to clean up my poor tank. It has been kept great since that. I now have Daniel and he is pretty good and getting better and they always change things out to keep it fresh. I love looking at my tank now as it is so relaxing. Thank you Chris for such a great service at a fair price and techs that come when they say they will. I recommended them as they do go out of their way to help with fish choice, plants, bubblers, etc. Don't look further, they are the best! read more

This is a great company. Their prices are reasonable, and services are GREAT. They offer more than just cleaning the fish tank. They can take your tank decors and bring it to their shop for a deep cleaning and in the meantime, replace my tank with some of their own. in addition, Chris was able to purchase fish for me so I wouldn't have to go to the store and figure out what to get.
