A Hidden Gem for Families and Marine Enthusiasts! We've had our eye on Aquarium Arts for a while, and finally decided to stop in with our three kids and we're so glad we did! The store is packed with an incredible variety of marine creatures and species, more than we expected. It's clear they really know their stuff and care about the health and quality of their animals. We ended up purchasing a snail for our tank, but what really made the visit memorable was the young lady who helped us. I had such a great experience at Aquarium Arts. I came in to buy some fish from a pretty crowded tank, and instead of making me feel like I was asking too much, the employee kindly asked me which one I wanted and carefully (And quickly!) caught it for me. The store was busy but the staff were attentive, friendly, professional, and patient -- which really stood out compared to other stores I've been to. It made me feel like my business mattered and that they genuinely cared about helping me get exactly what I was looking for. LOVE this shop!! We are new to having freshwater tanks and every single staff member is so knowledgeable, patient and attentive (without being pushy at all). They are honest about their recommendations and care about the fish instead of trying to increase a sale. I've been coming to the store for nine years now. The staff is really excellent. The quality of the fish is amazing. The knowledge they have about taking care of the fish is top notch. I would recommend that you come to the store to check them out. As a hobbyist need to do your due diligence as not all fish are perfect coming from an LFS but they do take care of their fish very well. I drive 2 hrs each way from prescott just to get the livestock from them and it has been worth! Keep up the good work guys! read more

We originally came out this way from Peoria to checkout another aquarium shop that was horrible to say the least. We figured we would give it a go and check out Aquarium Arts. Holy cow, we were blown away. First off, the care of their fish was immaculate. The fish were healthy in both saltwater and fresh and have a nice selection of stock. They had a big selection of plants as well which we grabbed. There was at least 2-3 different employees that asked if we needed any help and were super friendly. We got a few plants and everything was a comparable price. It's a bit of a drive but we will absolutely be back. This might be our new "go-to" fish store. Thanks guys!! read more

We are lucky to have a number of good aquarium shops here in Phoenix. For me though my go to is Aquarium Arts. They always test the salinity of their premixed saltwater. The staff there is super helpful and they have a huge selection of fish and dry goods not to mention they sell a lot of coral colonies which is great when you don't want to wait to have tiny frags grow out. read more

Good experience! Checked on me multiple times throughout my visit but weren't hovering. Were more than ready to help when I asked. Super nice staff. Smiling faces everywhere. Picked up a shrimp and some coral. Prices are pretty even with the other lfs in the area. Note on the coral, disc of goniopora, which can be kind of a toughie to work with. Mine started opening up just a few hours after I got home. Happy healthy corals here! I've dealt with bristle worms, sea spiders, and lots else on frags too but this one came in clean as well. We used to come here all the time when we were just setting up our saltwater and tropical tanks but now that our tanks are established we don't have as much of a need. However, today we were in the market for some tropical fish to restock our tank. We stopped at two other aquarium stores before going to Aquarium Arts. The reason Aquarium Arts wasn't our first stop is because it's so far from our house, we tried closer stores first. Next time we'll head straight to Aquarium Arts and save time in the long run because they had everything we were looking for. Chris is our go to man, he's so knowledgeable and friendly, and he's been there as long as I can remember. I started going to aquarium arts when I was one (34 years now) with my dad! I loved the store so much I got my first job working for them at 16. They have the best quality fish salt and fresh water. The employees are knowledgeable and kind. I now as a mother bring my kids in to walk and ooh and awww over all the cool fish and coral. It is your one stop shop for all things salt and fresh water. One of the least helpful aquarium stores I have ever been to. They answer every question with yes, or no answers. Told me no they can't hold fish even before I could finish my sentence. I had money in hand. I've seen hold for signs on these tanks before. The freshwater plants are all melted and look terrible. Stocking is always low. Ive never had a good experience here. What's good here: they have a big selection of fresh water fish, and not your average PetCo/smart fish. What's bad here: - Care of the fish. I've been here several times, and every time I go there are tanks covered by by cardboard. (Probably to hide the Ick infestations). Despite this, and knowing how easy ick is to get rid of, I bought several loaches and angelfish. I brought them home to a separate, cycled tank. I watched them for a few days, and sure enough they all broke out in white spots. I began a ParaGuard treatment cycle and all but 2 lived. - It's pretty hard to tell who works here and who doesn't. They all try to seem like experts, but two of the staff couldn't even discern the difference between a long nose loach, a clown loach, and a horsehead loach (c'mon... that's pretty basic) If you're looking for a better, friendlier shop, with healthy fish- try Discount Aquarium up in Tempe. read more

I was here last weekend and I was very disappointed. The staff wasn't very friendly. And someone finally greeted me after I already looked around the whole store. I went in to look at their betta selection and I couldn't believe my eyes! All the bettas were in dirty water and there was even a dead one! I attached some pictures of how filthy their water was. I went in to look for fish for my 55 gallon, as I don't like going to chain pet stores for fish. I found this place and when I walked in I immediately received help from multiple people, and one in particular named Chris I believe, was SO helpful. He helped me pick a festivum cichlid and two beautiful angels. He was so happy and sweet, it was really neat. Really nice place with a lot of freshwater fish to pick from. They also don't seem like the type of place that gets angry when you ask questions. They're very nice and want to educate you, rather than looking down on you for not knowing something. And God knows most fish hobbyists are not like that Love this place. read more

This is definitely my place to go for fish and aquarium supplies. I have a couple of tanks after getting back into the hobby after a long hiatus. Chris is as friendly as they come. The other workers are also very friendly and all are knowledgeable. I have to laugh at another review I read on here about how they were in a hurry to leave at the end of the day. Well, yes. But my experience was very different. I purchased a tank and stand here and not only did they help me near closing time, but they also helped me carry it to the car, and waited while I made two trips when it all wouldn't fit in one shot. Chris has helped me through water quality woes, answered questions, given me ideas for decor and stocking my tanks, and just been an all around nice guy. I truly don't understand comments talking about rudeness. I've dealt with rude persons, but aquarium arts just doesn't seem to have any of them. Admittedly, I've had to wait a couple of times when everyone is busy with other customers, but that is not rude, that simply means that they're busy. I've also been in a couple of times and looked around without being approached by anyone. I value that as I can look and get ideas for my own tanks. It's nice to not get the sales pitch every time I enter the place. I HIGHLY recommend Aquarium Arts for all of your aquarium needs. You could do far worse just about anywhere else. read more

Rude Environment for your family Hi, I took my family including my two kids 6 & 3 to help me pick few saltwater fish for our home 125G tank. one of my kids accidentally spilled some water from a bucket and the employees waited no time to start screaming a kid has spilled water to one another. at that point I was unaware of this because my kids were with my wife. when I requested help to buy fish an employee with a black beard looked at me very upset and said "I have to clean after your Kid's mess so I am very busy right now" moving his head from side to side. at that point I asked my wife and learned about the incident. we left the store with a bitter taste in our mouths. I would not recommend this store to anyone who buys aquarium items with their family. They will most likely disrespect your family with bad customer service. read more

~" I came here about three day's ago with my wife and kid's to find more Afican Cichlid Peacocks to stock our tank up with the first day was great they had a deal going on and met Ian was very knowledgeable we bought four and went home added them in everything was fine so we came back the next day to buy three more to add in well looking around found several fish in other tanks dead come to find out they all have velvet and having to treat the symptoms and hope they don't die because of it after reading some of the reviews it's a pretty big problem with this store along with ich issues I would recommend going else where we called and asked for a reimbursement for the fish all they could say is will give you a 50% restock fee there's well over $300 worth of fish in my tank, some that are irreplaceable due to breeders. I would highly caution going here especially when they know this continues to be an issue, should have seen the warnings when there was a sign stating no refunds only store credit and saw the dead fish in the tanks I didn't buy out of the dead tank's but seeing there stock and how many were dead the second time around, only tells me there is still a vastly on going problem they refuse to address. i am in the market to get my son started in fish and no better place than freshwater and i am pro shopping local! Lets talk Betta fish, first the called them "bAY- TA" WRONG- sorry its wrong and its annoying coming from not a box store. moving along, their bettas are in probably 8 oz jars with 4 oz of water. you can also buy the jars which is appalling they promote this to be a permanent home for a fish. these poor fish were in desperate need of water changes... it was sad, frankly.. This was just foreplay though guys. it got so much worse. I found no less than 4 dead fish. I told the employees and each time they quickly whisked them away. i am not even counting the dead and molding star fish in the mandarin tank against the wall. They had a blue tang that looked ROUGH, so i told them having it out is not a great look on their store and asked if they had quarantine bays in the back so this poor thing could, ya know, rest! I was advised the fish was owner surrender and their tanks were medicated so their display tanks WERE their quarantine tanks.. WHAT?! i asked and confirmed, yes they get owner surrenders and add them directly into their display bays.... i am really disappointed. i will find another local store and i hope this feedback goes to an owner.. read more
