I just moved to the neighborhood and found this cute nail shop nearby. They had a great mani-pedi deal and the service was good. My nail tech was very nice and the massage chairs were awesome. She was gentle yet thorough while cutting my cuticles and gave me a great foot, hand and back massage. Good selection of nail colors. I.am.a.fan! This place is great! The staff is always friendly. I've been going here about 6 months now. They are always welcoming and they do a great job. A manicure is only 9.50, which is really good considering they massage your hands and your back (for like 2 minutes, but still really good!). And if you come Tuesday and Wednesday, a mani and pedi is only $24. A regular pedicure is only $20. And if you get 10 manicures the next one is free! Not a bad deal. Anyway, long story short, great service, inexpensive prices, and convenient location- wouldn't go any where else. read more

I recently moved into the neighborhood and have been to Sona 3 times. They have a mani-pedi on M-W for $25 (less than I paid in Boston), and with that you get a nice foot/leg/hand/back and neck massage - in fact, Maya is so good that next time I think I will get the mani-pedi with the 20 minute foot massage. This salon is small, pleasant, and quiet. Some reviewers said that the polish chipped the next day, but I find that the polish lasts as long as anywhere else, for me about a week to 10 days. I was worried that I wouldn't find anyone who could deal with my ingrown toenail, but they have done a good job. In summary, a very good neighborhood nail salon, I recommend it. read more

Was doing laundry a couple doors down and decided to stop in get a simple mani/pedi. Everyone here is super nice and very attentive. Actually got their special mani/pedi w/hot stone massage for $26! Not much of a hot stone massage on your shins/feet, but the rest was awesome! Got an additional callus remover treatment for $7 extra. Great deal and would definitely come back! =) read more

I really want to like this place. This place is close to where I live and I've passed by it many times. Today I was willing to give Sona Nail a try. The space is fairly small and it looks clean. The nail technician ladies were very friendly but I gotta say that for $40 dollars (mani/pedi + 10mins massage) I've experienced better service somewhere else. First, the lady was helping me today she cut off all my healthy cuticles and she was cutting it down too much of my nail so the cuticles part of skin was bleeding. ouch! okay no biggie. But, when I went home to check my injured fingers I found more shocking things,,, she painted nail polish over my toenail cuticles.I guess today is just not my day to relax, I had to fix her terrible nail painting job myself and that was $40 bucks that I paid. Now when I passed by Sona Nail on my way home I will quickly walk away. read more

The BEST nail salon in NYC by far! I'm very picky and every single one of these ladies do an amazing job. Extremely clean, very attentive service, and great prices. My mani/pedi never chips and always lasts. If I mess up a finger or toe, they always go out of their way to fix it and above and beyond. I love the mini shoulder rub at the end of your manicure. And if you want more of a massage, these ladies are great at that too. I also use them for wax services as well. Great hours, great people, and great prices. What more could one ask for? Sona Nails is my go-to nail salon in the East Village/Stuyvesant Town area. The ladies are all very friendly and accommodating. I usually for go for gel manicures and they do a great job. They also give great massages. They are open til 10PM most nights which is great since I have such a crazy schedule. read more

Went here with a friend for the first time and received the best manicure I've ever gotten! They really spend time cleaning up your cuticles, and all of the staff are super nice. I came in on a Tuesday around 1pm for their $30 mani/pedi special (Mon/Tues/Wed) and the salon was full. The place is tiny (3 pedi chairs and 4 mani stations) and interior could use a bit of sprucing but that didn't detract from my experience. I had an attentive technician and am pleased with how my nails turned out. The little back massage at the end was the cherry on top. Had walked by Sona for a year, and then finally was in urgent need of a bikini wax, so went inside. What I experienced was the singularly WORST waxing experience I've ever had. The woman left the wax on too long and ripped my skin painfully several times. They also use a roll-on method of administering the wax which I've never seen before, the application of which is unpleasant. I've had millions of waxes in other places, so I know what the range of sensations is. I will never -- NEVER -- go back there, and I urge you to bring your waxing needs somewhere else. read more

This is the cutest little nail salon! The girls working were nice and I had to wait about 15 mins, it was definitely worth the wait. I got a regular manicure and it was probably one of the best I have had in a while. They DO NOT water down their polish which means it does not chip!!! As most girls know it is not easy to keep a manicure for more than a few days. This manicure lasted me 7 days and counting! I will definitely be back soon. They also have a nice color selection and carry Essie and OPI polish! read more

After my old basic nail place got new management and started to suck, I started searching for a new nail place. No biggie - since the old place wasn't THAT close to my newer apartment. I'm the kind of person to just pop into any ol nail place to get my nails done when they need to get did, so when I popped into Sona I was pleasantly surprised that I actually liked that place! They do a good job and the staff is very nice. They are open to design direction on nails. I like that the staff is the same every time I go in - sometimes there is high turnover in nail salons, and that makes me wonder. They also have a lot of regulars that they have casual conversation with, like old friends, which helps with me wanting to be a repeat customer. For a couple bucks more I'll take a place that is closer to my apartment. Bonus is that they have a repeat customer card for a free mani after like 10 times. And they give good chair massages! But pay close attention when looking for it - I usually still walk right past it... And they do fun nail designs for the wanna-be in me! read more

'Kinda' cheap, definitely crowded - but it happens to be right near Peter Cooper/Stuytown, which is its one saving grace. Mediocre work -- too quick pedicures - at best. Better to travel back to the Murray Hill area for better results. read more

I love this place. It is a bit on the small side, but that is no issue for me. They give you great service, and do not rush you through because someone else is waiting, which is very important to me if I'm spending the extra money to pamper myself. What really did it for me more than anything else.. the first time that I wen there, I accidentally messed up one of my toe nails while walking over to the dryer. She'd spent so much time making it perfect (and they will also check and see if you like the thickness of the white with your french pedicures, great attention to detail) that I did not want to mention it and figured I would just let it be. The person who did my pedicure, however, did notice, and she immediately stooped down to fix it right in the middle of the shop. Very, very impressed with how much these people care. And definitely enjoy the mini massage. Great value for your money, highly recommended. read more
