Maggie is amazing! I am EXTREMELY particular with my nails and after going to the same nail technician for 10 years at a different salon, she left and I found this new place. I was very nervous about trying a new place, but Maggie took all of those fears away. She replicated exactly what I wanted - was efficient, professional, and amazing at her work. I think they're still settling in from a new location so the inside isn't the most aesthetically pleasing right now. Also **make an appointment** limited availability for walk ins which is what I did. I'm thankful they got me in for a pedicure and their quality is always great! Great manicure! Not my favorite experience but I left it with nice nails :). Quick note that they *have moved* to 668 6th Ave (Second Floor), which isn't indicated on their yelp page but is on their website. Manicure: 5/5 - my nails looked really nice! Wendy was lovely and very skilled at what she does. Covid-safety: 5/5 - masks were worn throughout the staff which I really appreciated (I wore a mask too !) Experience: 3/5 - I felt there was little transparency in terms of price and method of payment, so I'll try to put it here. Prices are *lower* if you pay with cash. They also accept venmo, but it's slightly more expensive. Manicures are about $15-22 depending on polish and payment method. Gel are about $38 and SNS is about $58 from what I gathered. They also offer other services like facials and massages I believe. I felt I had upset or disappointed them when I didn't choose gel/SNS, and therefore the process felt a tad rushed and impersonal? I'm not sure how to feel about it, but I appreciated the quality of the manicure and attention to detail. This seems more like a spot for more complex nails rather than manicures, but if you're in the area, try it out! read more

I called the salon on a whim and was able to walk in 5 minutes later for an immediate appointment. This was my first time at Golden Glow Spa and I had a great experience. They were well staffed, efficient, and kind. After I chose a color, they were ready to go. Maggie did a wonderful job with extensions and sns powder. I showed a quick photo of what I wanted and she matched the color, length, and shape perfectly. She checked in with me throughout the service multiple times to make sure they were to my liking. Definitely recommend. Pricing was fair. read more

Needed to find a new salon after moving and ended up at Golden Glow. I had an amazing experience. I am... not a salon/spa person and I rarely do my nails. However, things had gotten quite dire, and I have some lingering summer wedding festivities, so I decided to spend an hour researching and agonizing before making an appt here. Just a heads' up- the online booking doesn't email or give an indication your booking was confirmed, but it is! I called to check. Maggie did my nails and she was very sweet and skilled and creative. I will absolutely be back. I had a powder manicure and it's lovely! I'll add a pic later but I just wanted to get this review out there and say absolutely do give this place your business! This spot is my new favorite... and I'm going to be a regular here! I was on the hunt for a new salon that would do a quality SNS (also known as a dip powder) manicure in New York City. Golden Glow Spa left me impressed with their attention to detail, and surprisingly was a relatively quick turn around time. I also got a pedicure with the callus remover, and they really spent some QT down there and removed all the dead skin for some seriously soft feet. Oh yeah! This is the BEST nail spot in NYC, especially for SNS Powder Gel manicures!! Maggie is my girl.. I recently had to go uptown to meet a client for a powder mani and they butchered my nails... This salon is overall a 4 star place in general - but in the neighborhood they deserve a 5. They are the only decent nail salon within a 10 block radius! Love that you can make online appointments or walk in very easily - haven't had to wait very long. The touch of having chargers and phone stands readily available when you're getting nails done is such a nice touch - simple but goes a long way as you can literally watch shows while getting your nails done. My friend referred me here because I had just moved to the neighborhood and needed a new go-to nail spot! I do feel like I have somewhat high expectations because Coco Nails is my favorite spot in the city... just sadly too far out of the way now. I came on a rainy Saturday, it's a very small nail salon area BEHIND the massage/spa. I made the mistake of speaking with the spa personnel when I walked in and was confused! They have two nail stations and two pedicure chairs. I got a gel manicure and was quickly in and out. Lasted 1.5 weeks and she did a really great filing job. I sadly did not get her name :( It was very reasonably priced too, I believe it was $35 for gel. *IT IS CASH ONLY BUT THEY ACCEPT VENMO* I will remember to bring cash next time because I felt a bit guilty not realizing that before going. I just left this place. Horrible service. The woman who did my manicure acted like she didn't want too, but she did and did a horrible job. I had to point out her flaws. I will have to go home to file my nails some more because they're crooked! Just like their service and business... crooked. Still left her a tip tho. Also speaking in different languages around customers is rude! Never again! read more

My initial thought was to give this place 1 star because we got off to a bumpy start but it ended slightly better. My girlfriend and I made 6:15 appointment for a manicure/pedicure. We were 5 minutes late, so we were fine waiting a bit to get chairs. They started my girlfriend's pedicure as I sat there because the same lady doing her pedicure wound up doing mine. The pedicure was the quickest, sloppiest pedicure I've ever received. Maybe 10 minutes? My pinky toes aren't even painted. They move my girlfriend to the manicure chair and start on her while I sat there and watched, again. Finally another woman came over and did my nails. She did a decent job considering I needed one tip, my nails shaped and I'm picky about my polish. We didn't leave until after 8pm... Most of that was waiting for someone to work on us or one of us sitting around while the other was getting worked on. Why make an appointment if it doesn't m We won't be coming back. I have been going here since March because it was the closest place near my job that did SNS powder. Unfortunately, after going other (further) places to get my nails done and seeing my friends' regular gel nails last longer than my $45 plus tip powder nails, I've given up and have started going somewhere else. I have had this powder gel manicure for less than two weeks, and I already have three nails that are lifting. Whenever I go to get them done in Queens (or even all the way in Massachusetts), they last 3+ weeks. When I tell this to the girls there they always look surprised and claim that it's because "my nails need to get used to the powder". If my nails need to get used to it, then why do they last longer when other salons do them?! Also once I asked for coffin shaped nails (which I had done during my previous manicure at a different salon), and they were all lopsided. Couldn't look at my hands for those two weeks... Overpriced for the quality, so from now on I'm going to a place in Queens. And I NEVER go to Queens. read more

I stopped in here to get a relaxing pedicure 3 days ago and THIS is what I left with ! Not only did the guy bruise my nail with the nail cleaning tool (which hurt like hell) he cut the side of my foot so bad with the cuticle remover tool. My toe has been so swollen I still can't even get a shoe on. Thank god it's the summer so I can wear sandals. But like I said I will steer clear of this place ever again. read more

I came by for a quick nail day, and discovered a lovely place The pricing is nothing special, not cheap but not too overpriced either. The service was extremely wonderful and they were so nice! I did the dip powder nail with extensions/tips and it turned out relatively well. The massage was something I'm not used to getting with these nails (because I'm from Texas and you only get a massage with a pedi or like a mani) so I left a nice tip. Kind of on the bigger side and nice clean bathroom! read more

An update to reflect excellent customer service at Golden Glow. Today they reached out to inform me that they looked into my bill of services from last week and realized the technician had overcharged me for a gel pedicure (which is of course more money). They are refunding my card for the $26 overcharge. I definitely would consider returning for a 66 dollar pedicure (this includes the up charge for callus removal which trust me, is worth it if you have crazy high arches like moi!). read more

First time coming here with the squad! Scheduled appointments last week; comfortably welcoming and greeted soon as we walked in as well as offered refreshments. We were seated right away and assigned our nail techs and masseuses. Instantly, I noticed the open, clean and organized atmosphere which gives a Virgo everything. We were impressed with the single packaged and sterile tools they utilize per client. They all took their time to give us exactly what we asked for, always reassuring our critique. Popped up during lunch for a gel manicure ($32 with tax) with a colleague. I called ahead two days before to make a reservation, but they were completely empty on a 1pm on a Wednesday. Lucky us! We got to sit together and relaxed for 35 minutes. Very sanitary overall and what's different was that it included a (warm) lotion hand glove as they were prepping our nails to be painted. Dolma (Nepalese woman) was gentle and precise. Her extra little massage at the end was lovely! I'd recommend this to those in the area! read more

Just got my SNS done here today. Honestly -- it's truly bad. I was nicked twice and should have walked out, but didn't. By the end, my nails were uneven, streaky and frankly just unacceptable. The owner came over and was also disturbed by the quality. She sat down to fix them, but they're still bad. They would have needed to completely start over to salvage the job. If I had more time, I would have had them completely redo it, but I had already been there for 2 hrs and have a ton of running around to do before my event tomorrow. I don't recommend this place at all and I really feel like I wasted time and money. I'm so disappointed. read more

I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars out of 5. I will say I've tried tons of places around the city in Manhattan, BK and queens and this is by far the best I've found for dip/SNS. It really depends which nail tech you get. Ivy is definitely one of the best, unfortunately even if you book under her name it does NOT mean you'll actually get her prices are a littleee on the more expensive side, 57$ for dip removal then full manicure but I still think it's worth it in NYC. This all being said, sometimes I leave here and my nails are STUNNING, then sometimes they're just kinda eh and I have to trim my cuticles at home a little more and file the tips just a tad. All in all, I would recommend giving this place a try if you do dip! read more

Jabi did my SNS removal (put on by another salon down in PA) and then did my new set. Couldn't be more pleased with the result. It was also air dried and I didn't have to put my hands in the UV light thing. For some reason that made me happy. The color I picked happened to be one that is temperature sensitive - a happy accident. Discovered after it was put on one nail, he was quick to ask if I wanted to continue and even showed me what it would look like hot vs cold. My eye currently has a burst blood vessel so I figured what the heck. May as well have my fingers match it! Seriously, though. I love it and it's fun! This little gem was pretty much the best manicure of my life to date. They made a reservation on day-of work for two. We both got SNS powders dip nails-- which ran about $50. I added tips which was another $15 or so, but TOTALLY worth it. My nails (which are not usually not in great shape) looked absolutely flawless when they were done. Definitely hoping to make this place a regular-- they have a points system as well and you get double points if you pay in cash. Thanks for the adorable manicure! read more

I have gone here once before and thought everything was way better than my most recent experience. PROS: *They use a clear wrap to cover each pedicure station to ensure cleanliness. It's tossed after used. *Staff are friendly and attentive. CONS: *My nail polish started chipping literally the next day (see photo). Argghhh! *I got burned by hot water during my pedicure. The woman apologized and it was clearly a mistake, but you figure if people work there, they should know how to use their devices. Not fun!! *Place isn't as cleanly as I would like. It is dusty, there is dirt around (even on their tools :( ), and the garbage was full in more than one place. It seems like they want to move quickly with business because it does get busy, but cleanliness is a top priority for me, especially when dealing with hygienic matters like getting a manicure and pedicure. Overall, I hate to write this but I'd say find a better place! read more

Get an appointment with Ivy or it's not worth it. Takes way too long and some other employees botched my friends nails up. I had ivy on the other hand and got full set gel extensions! Since I walked in with two of my other friends, it took over two hours. Not sure how long it would take with an appointment - hopefully shorter! My nails turned out well thought and the total ended up being $59 with tax. read more

I'll start by saying that I never leave reviews on places, but I felt the need to share my experience. To sum up my experience with this place I'll just say: Worst nail tech ever! So after a busy and stressful week I needed a little TLC, so I decided treat myself to a mani pedi (I usually do my own). And since I was treating myself I wanted to go to a nice place, that was relaxing and provided good service. So naturally I went to yelp and found that this place had great customer reviews! Well just my luck that I was stuck with the nail tech who didn't have any idea of TLC nor customer service skills ( I felt like I was on a conveyor belt in a factory)! I did not feel relaxed at ALL...NO TLC...she spent less the 15 minutes on both my Mani and Pedi!! I was so confused that I started looking at how the other nail techs were treating their customers. Looking around I noticed that all of the other nail techs were taking their time, and ensuring that they were giving their customers' nails much needed attention, and ensuring that their customers appreciated their services. Needless to say that even this place has great reviews, I regret stepping foot in here and regret giving my nail tech the generous tip I did! I really enjoyed my gel manicure here. I called last minute on a Wednesday night and they were able to accommodate me 30 minutes later. They took me in right away when I had my appointment. It took them a really, really long time to remove all of my previous gel manicure (which I had gotten at a different salon). I don't know why this was, maybe the gel polish from the previous salon was a unique kind. Regardless, the whole time they were removing my nail polish, they were really helpful at choosing colors. They have a wide selection of gel polishes from OPI, CND, Essie, etc. They helped me find a combination that I liked. I paid with card (a rarity at many nails salons in NYC!) and was even able to leave tip on the card, despite there being a sign that said cash tips only. Good price for the gel. It's been a little over a week and my manicure has been holding up pretty well. I'm disappointed because two nails chipped a tiny bit, but I will call them today to see if they can fix it. Came here a few months ago and left a 5 star review for the powder gel service I received. I went back for the same service about a week and a half ago and everything went well again. Until yesterday when both of my thumb nails polish completely cracked off- only a week and a half later! (they tell you the powder lasts at least three weeks and when Ive gone other places it has lasted 4) I went back today just to get both thumbs fixed. They were very unapologetic that they broke so quickly and charged me "$4 per nail" to fix I could clearly tell she was making the number up off the top of her head. So today I paid $8 on top of the $40+ I paid for it in the first place, only to not even last the full 3 weeks. Rip off. read more

The staff are usually kind, but if you ask something like, "Can we change this part a bit?" they immediately get upset. This time, I brought a design I wanted -- it was very simple. I showed it beforehand, and they told me it was possible, so I sat down. But once they started, they suddenly said they didn't have the spray needed to do the design, and it ended up looking completely different. The result looked terrible. I didn't want to pay $85 for something that looked this bad, so I politely asked if they could fix certain parts. But it became clear that they lacked the skill to do so, and the nail technician seemed increasingly irritated and stressed. As a paying customer, I believe it's normal to make requests, but she became very angry. She started throwing the napkins she used to wipe my nails down at my feet repeatedly, and slammed the bathroom door when she left, as if trying to intimidate or make me feel guilty. It was extremely disrespectful behavior. Eventually, the nail technician was replaced, but by then, 4 out of 5 fingers were already ruined. Only the thumb was redone by a different person, who suddenly started using a completely different sponge and technique. So in the end, all of my nails had mismatched designs. This was truly a terrible experience -- not just in terms of the nail design, but more importantly, in how I was treated. A customer should never be made to feel like they've done something wrong just for asking for what they want, or be treated like a difficult client for making a reasonable request. That kind of attitude is completely unacceptable.
