Word of advice is to believe the lower rated reviews with this business. I ignored the low rating as I just wanted a gel removal and figured it could not go super wrong and I was in a crunch for time. Gel removal takes 1 whole hour, and I tell the nail tech that I can have my natural nails cut down, which is supposed to be $10 on top of $15 gel removal (per the owner's words to the nail tech in Chinese). When the owner rang me up, what should have been $25 was $35 before tax and tip. The nail shaping is terrible (asked for almond and she left me with uneven edges and some of them pointy). I didn't notice this or the leftover residue on my nails as I had to hurry out the door. Will never return, stay away or you will have to pay for mediocre service. read more

How horrible could a manicure actually get??? The service itself was terrible. I asked for a nude gel, found one I liked. She then started to paint it on and it's a totally different color. I told her that's the wrong color. She got back up to change it, but instead of removing the prior coat- she painted two more coats on top?? So freaking clumpy, nails were BURNING in the lamp from how much she drilled down my nails and gel is cured on my skin. Do not recommend. I came here from a different website and was given the total prior to coming in, yet for her at the end to up charge an additional $25!? What a great place for nails and much needed self-care. As a new mom I've completely forgotten about my nails... needless to say they looked awful, short, dry and stumpy. I tried their gel mani and really loved the outcome. Coco successfully combined two colors (brown and red) to get the deep burgundy I wanted for fall. Cute little shop in Greenwich Village! I love that the front of the shop is painted red and the inside is also very colorful. I've been here twice, both times through Classpass. My first time coming here was in February. My friend and I went together. Lisa was my nail tech and her's was Linda. Lisa did a wonderful job on my nails! It lasted a long time (I think 4 weeks) and didn't chip at all. But my friend's nails started chipping the very next day. I went again in May to get my nails done before a wedding. Linda was my tech for a gel mani and pedi. We did my toes first and was a little rough on my nail beds. While she was working on my toes the customer sitting next to me was getting her toenail fixed. Apparently she had come in the prior Friday for a gel pedi with Linda and it cracked over the weekend (within a week). The customer said she had been coming to Linda for a few months now and this was the first time it happened. When we moved on to my mani she was rough on my nailbeds again. I always request that the nail tech leave my cuticles because the skin around my nails starts to peel if they clip them. She said she would just clean it up instead but it was a little painful. She did this interesting technique of having me cure after each nail she painted and she'd paint a nail on my other hand while the other hand cured. In effect each nail is curing for 5-10 seconds at a time. I told Linda I was a little concerned it wouldn't cure well and she said the nails actually cure for longer overall just in smaller bursts. Then told me to come back if they chip within a week. I had told her a few times that I was flying out for a wedding the next day and I'm the MoH so its important my nails stay intact, in addition to the fact that i'll be out of town. It felt like she hadn't been listening. I think i was here for almost 2 hours total, finally leaving around 8:30pm. I showered around midnight, washed my hair and saw that two of my nails had pieces come off. Seriously?? (see pics). I noticed a cut near my nail when I showered and my nail-bed area was sensitive. I decided to come in as soon as they opened the next morning. I told the ladies what happened and they said they would fix the two nails that had chips. I asked them to redo the whole set because I was worried the other nails would chip soon considering how quickly I had to come back and I was going to be out of town for a few weeks. Lisa agreed to redo the set. While she was painting, Lisa asked me if I was sure I remembered the nail color correctly because it was more sheer-looking than the white out nails I came in with. I'm pretty sure I remembered correctly so we concluded that the gel may have chipped because Linda painted thicker layers. See photos to compare. These nails ended up lasting 3-4 weeks before chipping, yay! The skin around my nails did end up peeling and it felt raw for the whole week which was annoying because I was handling things for the wedding. While I'm annoyed at having to go back, they had good customer service. I told Lisa that if I come back I'm only going to ask for her. She said ok, see you next time. 4 stars because the nails ended up lasting a long time and the ladies here are nice. read more

Updating my review to 1 star due to the extremely odd response I received - not sure that they tied my review to the wrong person or are trying to discredit it with the weird response? I promise I'm not lying or out to get them - just being honest! I haven't gotten "Chrome Effects" in my life - I'm usually a pretty basic mani/pedi girl! Also was definitely 10 early vs late (which made the 40 minute delay THAT MUCH WORSE). Definitely avoid this spot! Also posting another photo 5 days later on how this terrible mani/pedi has held up - could be worse! Given the 40 minute late appointment and bumpy results, I tend to disagree that they deserve a 20% tip. Recommend they recheck their security footage. read more

Came from CA to visit and wanted to check out a nail salon in NY. Decided to try out this location. Interior design was very cute, had about 3 books of gel colors you could select from. Lots of nudes and softer palettes! Felt like my gel manicure was rushed when it wasn't extremely busy, later the next day my nail was already chipped. Didn't have time to come back to get it fixed, so a bit bummed ): My friend also got a gel manicure but her nail tech Lisa did a better job. Generally think this salon has a lot of potential, I think my experience was just a one-off, many people seem to like this place. They relocated and their regulars still come by. Used to love this place people were really friendly. Today I got a woman who was rushing through my pedicure as if there was a line out the door but I was the only customer there. When it can time for the manicure and she gave me the bill to pay before she painted my nails (as they usually do) and I wanted to give her a cash tip that I calculated to be 15%. Note - I normally tip 20% but this service was not good. She ran over to the computer and asked me to "get up" from the chair and walk over so she can show me the tip options which began at 15% and went up to 25% - I selected 15% and she was still agitated. fast forward - she painted my nails as to be expected. read more

Lash extension glue doesn't stick (it's dried out). Multiple glues were tried and 30 minutes were spent trying, but nothing would stick. I would avoid this place and go to a dedicated lash business elsewhere with more reviews. EDIT: I originally tried to provide an objective and minimal review of just the lash extensions, but since the business owner responded rather antagonistically to my partner's review, I will add more detail. We have nothing against the lash techs and other beauticians at this establishment. They were nothing but professional. We have an issue with the business owner - Grace - whose first instinct was to blame the customer. Grace does not understand cause and effect here. The customer does not have sensitive eyes, but rather, the customer's eyes became irritated BECAUSE of the lash glue being dried out and spending 30 minutes pulling on the individual lashes to try to get it to work. Additionally, the business owner (who wasn't present at the time) threatened to make a fraudulent claim to ClassPass saying that we were "no shows". We made a big issue out of this understandably so. It is your own actions and words that caused the ordeal. Your employees understand this and I honestly have a sense that they don't respect you as a business owner for these practices either, Grace. Good luck with your business, but based on the already pre-existing reviews, it doesn't sound like you will be around for the long term. By the way, I have recordings of my interactions at the store and have recorded the fact that your first solution was to say we were 'no shows' and to also blame the service not being provided because of the customer's sensitive eyes. I have mixed feelings about this salon. On a positive note it's very clean and the folks who work there are so nice! I believe it was the owner who greeted me when I came in and took care of the payment at the end and she was just delightful to interact with. However, I have two issues with the service I received. I got a gel manicure and it was very no frills which is fine if that is obvious up front, but it was not what I was expecting. The second and biggest issue is that the tech who did my manicure picked at one of my cuticles so much that it began bleeding - she then used glue of some sort to try to get it to stop? It burned and was sore for a couple of days after. I should have spoken up when it happened but aside from telling her it hurt I did not. It unfortunately made an otherwise decent manicure experience pretty unenjoyable. read more

The staff here was very friendly and the atmosphere was good!! The salon was clean and they offered me water / tea / wine :) However, my gel manicure was very poorly done unfortunately. It did not cover my nails well (edges were left very exposed with thin or no coats), and it has chipped less than a week later. My haircut appointment was on a Sunday afternoon with Pink, and the experience couldn't have been better. The salon was peaceful with a calming music, clean, and nicely decorated. The hair stylist and staff were kind and welcoming. I was asked to come with clean, washed hair. Pink and her manager listened to my description of the cut I wanted, and that is exactly what I got. No fussy products or time wasted, just a great haircut, in my case -- a long bob with some face framing and fringe. I've never had a dip manicure, but a coworker convinced me to give one a try at Grace's, as it's her go-to spot. The service was great, and though I don't love how thick the dip manicure is (it feels like I have another very thick nail on top of my own), my nails looked very nice. Alas, it's only one week later and three of my nails have multiple cracks in them. I was told dips can last for up to five weeks, but certainly should last at minimum of two, right? I'm very disappointed and will probably go back to gel manicures at my old place (which, bonus, uses nontoxic polish). read more
