It's such a cute shop with apparently great coffee according to my girlfriend. I missed out on the namesake cookies because a customer had already bought them all out but I tried instead the mango, vanilla, and chocolate cupcakes, all with vanilla buttercream. The vanilla was my favorite, plain and simple with moist breading and a good amount of frosting. The chocolate was a bit too dense and wasn't as fluffy as the others. Will have to come back here again to try the cookies and rotating cupcake flavors.

Finally made it to this place, which is right around the corner for me and was not dissapointed. It's quaint and has a gift store type vibe in front. I already had coffee, so I went for a pastry and the cupcake muffins sounded so good! They also had a funfetti one, which I'll hopefully be able to try next time. I opted for a bourbon banana cupcake muffin and had a choice of with or without chocolate chips. I went with and it was delicious and inexpensive! Looking forward to going back!

Love this little coffee shop in Astoria near where my friends live. The owner is super sweet and the baked goods are amazing. I've tried both cupcakes and cookies from here before and the cupcakes are so damn fluffy and moist. Like the epitome of home-made fresh with love. They also serve beer and wine in addition to coffees and teas and sell various trinkets, jewelry etc. Definitely worth stopping by a fun little hole in the wall community spot.

I have been in love with this neighborhood spot for years now. Sonny and Jess always have incredible food and drinks prepped for the day. There are fresh baked cupcakes, muffins, cookies, and sandwiches every day. Sometimes, they even make other special items that never cease to amaze me. I honestly have never been disappointed when coming here. It feels like home in many ways for they never forget your name or your order once you have been there a few times. I'm a regular now, and I have grown so fond of this community of Bobsters. If this is my Cheers, I find myself very lucky to be a part of such a loving and gracious place.

So thanks to a new FB friend I heard about a very small coffee shop on 34th Street and 28th Avenue, (34-15 28th Avenue), which I had walked past many times, and probably because of its very low key physical profile, I had simply overlooked or missed. There is no visible awning that protrudes out into the street. Instead, it is very easy to miss the coffee shop and I was walking back and forth trying to identify the establishment. Finally, I saw the window display and walked inside. Sonbobs reminds me of an eclectic book store/antique store or tarot parlor with dangly curtains when you enter. I was due to meet a friend for coffee and she showed up after I arrived. Sonbobs is very small and has a limited number of food options. Nevertheless the ham sandwich was delicious and sandwiched on fresh hero with cheese. Afterward, we had lemon-flavored cupcakes The Ice coffee was just right. You get the option of two types of ice cubes, water or coffee cubes. There was no backyard seating that was visible to me. There are a couple of tables and chairs out front. I was planning to go to a grill across the street afterward, but the conversation with my new friend was so much more fun. Among our conversations was a discussion of the best places to eat in Astoria. -as you know by now that is very close to my heart, being a true foodie -covering the Astoria scene for nearly eleven years.

This is DEFINITELY my new favorite cafe in Astoria. With its "cozy nook" vibe, good coffee and homemade desserts ($3.81 for coffee and cookie, I also got free refills!), this place is perfect for a low/key weekday morning getaway. Yay new super local spots! Shout-out to Sonnie the owner and Jessica for great service! It's more of a social space / curl up with a book space than a work space, but there is a bar for laptops in the back. There's WiFi, games, books, a Magic 8 Ball #throwback, and even merch! Get the drink card if you're gonna be a new loyal customer. Also, bathroom is clean. What more could you need?

I love this neighborhood coffee shop! I usually go to coffee shops or co-working spaces on the weekends when I want to code, and I think I found my favorite! The owner lady is so nice and came to check on me occasionally to see if I need coffee refills. I sat with a friend and code for hours and it was really cozy, we had coffee (with almond milk), tea and her homemade chocolate malt balls! I'll come back :)

I've lived next door my whole life and and I've seen Stores open here come and go and I never felt to walk in not even curious! But FINALLY! Sonbobs opened! I walk in and just love the environment you don't feel any negativity at all you feel very relax. Merchandise for sell different kind of seating game boards games to play freshly bake goods. Ooolalala not one single complaint coming from me nope nope nope. I LOVE IT! I come in for a nice freshly squeezed lemonade. Almost everyday now so addicting and refreshing! I Introduce this play with friend and my brother we love it. Finally 28th ave have a wonderful chill spot where we don't need to worry about anything going wrong. LOOK AT THAT SHIRT. THAT IS ONE OF THE CUTEST SHIRTS SOMEONE CAN SELL.

This is a great local coffee shop! The name is short for Sonnie's Bits and Bobs (cute!). The coffee was very reasonable and good. We didn't try her "bits and bobs" as we already had a huge brunch before, but she was baking cookies that smelled AMAZING. The venue is really relaxing and cozy, and a great place to catch up with a friend or read. There's games/books out and eclectic items for sale too. This is a great addition to the community and I look forward to going back. read more

Sonbobs is magical! They have an ever-changing menu of treats that are always phenomenal. The peach cake and strawberry cake are probably my favorites but I've had many delicious things. I've also had the chicken soup which was truly good for my soul on a rainy, dreary quarantine day. Sonnie, the owner, is kind and friendly, and so are the other staff members I have encountered. It warms my heart to visit here. read more

Love, love, love this cafe. From the coffee ice cubes to the environmental products to reduce waste to the rotating dessert menu to the jewelry for sale.... in one visit, I acquired my coffee, a snack, and a birthday gift. I also left having had a fun conversation with Sonnie. The interior totally gives me Professor Trelawney vibes, and who doesn't want to be at Hogwarts?! Great coffee and even better company. The owner is kind and thoughtful. She genuinely wants to know her customers. She's a true asset to the Astoria community. The cafe's atmosphere is cozy and inviting which also best describes her food. She has an array of pastries and homemade hot dishes made fresh daily. sonbobs is a new little coffee / tea / dessert spot in Astoria. It's run by a very sweet woman named Sonnie who also sells jewelry and other things like wallets and purses. Some of the jewelry is made by Sonnie herself! As her business card says... "Sonnie's bits and bobs, bippity, boppity, boo" The place itself is small but very comfortable. It has a couch with lots of pillows, and a variety of other places to sit. As far as the food and coffee - I've had regular coffee there and it was very good, and I had her lemon tart which was delicious, and also a lovely oatmeal cookie. She always has things for customers to try as well, and I tried her Bulleit Bourbon truffles which were AMAAAzing! This is a great little community neighborhood spot. read more

If you like homemade baked goods, you're gonna love this place. The options change every day -- my personal favorite is the peach muffin. Sonny also makes a mean Arnold Palmer with fresh squeezed lemons. Very cute neighborhood spot where you can relax for a moment. read more

Excellent cafe! Sonnie (pronounced Sah-nee) has a nice selection of gourmet teas and gives a discount for bringing your own mug. I bought a gluten free cookie, and she gave me a 2nd one for free simply because they were a day old, but I would have never known if she hadn't told me. And... drumroll...the cookies were delicious! Not to mention that the cookies didn't crumble when I bit them, which is unusual for gluten free. Also, I love the simplistic yet elegant atmosphere. What a wonderful addition to the neighborhood! read more

Julia Child once said "You don't have to cook fancy or complicated masterpieces - just good food from fresh ingredients" and Sonnie over here at Sonbobs definitely does just that! This little comfy niche has a really great cup of joe, amazing quick sandwiches, salads, and blue flower plate specials on the weekend! Also coming from a NYC pastry chef point of view- her baking is just like your mamas! Nothing beats your mamas baking but Sonnie can totally help you wish those blues always with her baked goods! read more

Amazing coffee place in the neighborhood! It's a luxury to get a sip of Porto Rico Import coffee beans in Astoria without traveling to East Village. Definitely a hidden gem of this town. If you haven't been, check it out! Homemade baked goodies are pleasant and lovely as well. read more

When I think of Sonbobs, I think of home. Sonnie has the best coffee in town, and along with Jess, they make the best baked goods too. The lunches are out of this world. I've been going to Sonbobs for the past couple of years, and what started as the place I stopped by to grab coffee while doing laundry, became the place I hung out at for hours talking to other 'Bobsters' who started as strangers and have become friends. My other friends, who live all over Astoria, have started to make the far walking trip to Sonbobs every weekend. We've even affectionally renamed Sunday, 'Sonday'. Sonnie has paid every attention to detail during COVID and made sure the shop stays cleans and safe, and only allows 3 people in at a time to order to ensure customer safety. The open mic, run by Jess features the most loving and supportive group of musicians of all levels of talents and still happens monthly on Zoom. If you want good service, out of this world coffee and food, and wonderful conversation, head to Sonbobs. It's the magical place you only see in Stars Hollow. And we are so lucky to have it in Astoria. read more

I've lived in Astoria for a long and never found this cozy calm caffe in the neigh hood. Inexpensive(thanks!), homemade, good sandwiches and sweets(not too sweet!), good coffee and tea by Sonnie. open alway, 8-8, 7 days. 28th Ave will be new popular street in Astoria, where is mellow and less crowded comparing 30th ave and/or Broadway. You will love Astoria more. read more

sonbobs is a great and green addition to the neighborhood! You can go out without going far--a plus in the rain and snow--and then take your tea or coffee in a porcelain cup in a treasure chest of a curio shop! Delicious cookies, muffins, and cakes and rotating lunchtime savories are offered daily. Sonnie,the owner, has a truly wonderful energy about her. Her coffee shop really feels like my real "home". Unlike anywhere else I've experienced in NYC in the last three years, SonBobs is the only place where I've made meaningful friendships with people, including Sonnie, who care about my well-being - so much so that I decided to not move to Austin and stay in NYC instead. She also made me a special ginger tea with real ginger root, my favorite. There is an artistic and spiritual vibe there that I haven't felt elsewhere in NYC. Love it! read more

Awesome place and fantastic service! She always has THE BEST teas and desserts. Yesterday she was having a special giving anyone who spends more than $10 a gluten free muffin. How cool!! There's always something fun going on, I also love the cards and candles there, a lot of random fun stuff. Great place to hangout with friends, kids, really all ages AND it's dog friendly. There's lots to love about this charming little hole in the wall: very nice proprietor, tasty baked goods, would be a great place to sit and write. Deserves more traffic than it gets on sleepy 28th Ave. I am a fan of the muffins, a new flavor baked fresh every morning, perfect for munching on the way to the subway. read more

I live around the corner and 28th Avenue needed something that was homey and served real homemade coffee! This place is ran by the sweetest lady and her sandwiches are deeeeeelicious! this is like dropping in on a friend who you haven't seen for a while. a friend who bakes and makes a good sandwich, quiche, lemonade, etc., someone who is creative and able to improvise if it might bring out a smile. and only several blocks from the astoria blvd. subway stop. read more

Instead of addressing the concern, I was told it wasn't a hair and that it came from a banana. Bananas don't have hairs like that. The refusal to acknowledge or resolve the issue was disappointing. The refusal to make good on the mistake was fueled by the fact that I wasn't being receptive to the young man's advances and tacky attempts to flirt with me. This can be confirmed because right after being denied the confused young man followed me outside(as I'm writing this review and tried to use the incident as an icebreaker to get to speak to me on a more personal and intimate basis -- didn't work and young man was told to step away from me immediately. Mistakes can happen, but how they're handled matters. I won't be returning.

Stopped by Sonbobs Cafe and I'm so glad we did! The owner was friendly, welcoming and laid back, which made the whole experience even better. The café itself is on the smaller side, but there are a few tables and seats; decorated quaintly and cutely. It has a really cozy, neighborhood feel. The lattes were delicious, and I loved that they use coffee ice cubes. Such a smart idea because your drink never gets watered down. The real highlight, though, were the pastries. They were so fresh, incredibly moist, and honestly some of the best I have had. We tried the pineapple coconut muffin, the apple crumb muffin (which tasted just like apple pie!), and the strawberry cupcake. Every single one was amazing. After trying those, I seriously wanted to buy one of everything from the pastry case because they were that fantastic. If you are in the area, definitely make a stop at Sonbobs Cafe.
