Stayed 3 nights, paid for 2 rooms. The fire alarm went off 4 times during our trip (2 of which were in the middle of the night!) All false alarms and supposedly it was fixed after the first midnight run... nope. The water was turned off twice. We read somewhere there was continental breakfast. Nope. After we left, they charged us for one of the rooms (even though we had already paid in full for both). It was refunded, but now here I am a month later looking at another charge from them. Been trying to get ahold of the manager for the last 4 days. Even left my call back info and haven't heard from her yet. I finally had to email her just to get my money back and hopefully get these fraudulent charges stopped. Do yourself a favor, don't stay here. Go somewhere else. We sure wish we did! read more

We spent 5 days here. Customer service was amazing and all the workers were extremely helpful and courteous. The room we stayed in was pretty roomy, however, it smelled of must and mold, unfortunately. The bathroom especially smelled and had visible signs of mold in the tub and the shower curtain. On a good note, our in-laws stayed on the opposite side of the building and they had an updated "deluxe" room and didn't have the same experience that we had, so...if we ever come back to visit, we would definitely ask for a "deluxe" room. read more

My room also reeked of cigarette smoke from a previous visitor. We were there for a wedding, and other people from our party did not have a shower curtain in their bathroom and another persons tv would not work. Over the past weekend I was a bridesmaid for my best friend's wedding and this hotel was very accommodating. I can't thank Mark from the front desk enough for all of his help. I was granted an early check in and that was incredibly helpful for me as I was able to start getting ready for the big day. I called the front desk to let them know my neighbors are incredibly noisy at 2am. They said they would send someone to check it out. It is now 4am, and not a single soul has checked. How do I know? I stayed here for a work trip for just one night and booked through our employee booking system. I arrived much earlier than the regular check in time and didn't have high expectations of getting into a room right away. The staff was very friendly and though they didn't have a room ready right away, they did have one within 20 minutes of my arrival and got me checked in early with ease. The room I stayed in was a single King room. It was spacious and clean and had a mini fridge and the air conditioning worked really well. The shower had good water pressure, was clean and had soaps and conditioner attached to the wall. There is some street noise that you can hear from the rooms but it wasn't bad from my room. One of my coworkers said it was a bit louder from her room. They also have parking for free in their surface lot. The parking does get crowded in the evening but I was able to find a spot. The lobby area is spacious and has a lot of table and comfortable lounge seating. There is also a cafe/bar area that looked small but does the trick. I checked out early the next day and didn't have any issues. I would stay here again if I had more business in the area. read more

He was personable and friendly. He knew exactly what to say and when to say it. (5 of 5) Cleanliness: The bathroom door was closed. When I opened the door, a horrible foul smell emitted. The toilet paper holder was falling off the wall. The oversized toilet looked out of place, and the toilet seat was loose. The towel bar on the shower door felt loose. I wish the fan didn't come on full blast when one needs to use the toilet while the other person is trying to sleep. (1 of 5) Flashing light above bed: (1 of 5) Thin walls: The thin walls caused a sleepless night. We could hear every step taken, and every car that drove by. We had a great experience. Check in was very easy. The hotel was very clean and the staff were nice. The room was a pretty decent size. There was a mini refrigerator, iron and ironing board. We had to call the front desk for a blow dryer. No microwaves in the room, but they did have one in the lobby for us to use. The gym was really nice and the pool did get a little packed on Saturday night. They have a cute little gazebo for the smokers. This location was nice. A less expensive option for San Ramon and nearby vicinity. No frills, it doesn't have a decent lobby and coffee/breakfast area, but nothing is for free here, not even a water. They also have a small pool in the rear of the hotel. It has the feel of a low-end Marriott Courtyard. The furnishings in the room were not great, but it was quiet, clean, and I liked the mattress. Bottomline, it met the need for myself, but I would not stay here for something romantic! Easy one block off of freeway, and walking distance to Clementine's Restaurant, The Souk Mediterranean Market, and Chevron (gas/mini-mart). read more

3.5 star experience I recently stayed one night for work. Booked online through our company booking tool. I Arrived late around 10pm, self-parked (free), and checked-in. The front desk staff member was kind and quick. The lobby lounge area on this particular Thursday night was lively with a corporate group. I liked seeing activity. My king-bedded room on the 4th/top floor was clean and equipped with a hair dryer, toiletries in the shower, and a makeup removal wipe (nice touch!). There was also a mini fridge - I didn't need it but often use this for longer stays. The bed and pillows were fine. I appreciated the bedside outlet options. My room overlooked the back parking lot and the highway. So I knew I was in for overnight noise. I used the white noise app on my phone and got through it. If I stay here again, I'll request a room on the front side of the hotel, away from the highway. I checked out early the next morning, and that was smooth and efficient. If there was a no frill hotel this one is it. I don't know how they could charge $159/ per night. Hotel is located off Bollinger next to a Chevron gas station and apartments. We stayed here because it was where the wedding party guests were staying and it was closed to the wedding location. First, there is a pool but that's pretty much it for amenities. I did see a "gym" room but not sure how it is since no one in our group used it. The room at least the one we were staying at really thin walls. I kept hear my upstairs' neighbors walking around throughout the night. It was really hard to sleep when you can hear people walking around in their room. We were on the 3rd floor. The room layout was also weird with a small bathroom counter and only mirror was in the bathroom. It was cramp when 2 people were getting ready in the bathroom corner. The air/heater flow was loud and it was hard to regulate the room temperature. Sheets were super thin and the comforter or whatever they provided as bed cover was as thin as the sheet. I had to request for a blanket at the front desk for my kids as the room turn cold during the night. The restaurant/bar area never seem to be open or have any food items in stock. They didn't have beer for my friend and was out of stock of certain wine selection and cider. I have never stay in a hotel that didn't have any breakfast of any sort. Not even a continental one. Even Motel 6 and Holiday Inns have some kind of breakfast(ie cold cereal box, bagel, juice, etc) for their guests, especially if they are being charged $159 /per night. On our second night I noticed that our room were not getting a cleaning or a turn out. I don't really mind our beds not being made but could they at least clear out the trash bins and provide some fresh towels daily? Maybe this is the new Covid era?? I inquired at the front desk and the front desk guy told me it is per guest request and that they would need 24hr notice. Shocking!! I request that housekeeping could take out the trash items in our bins that has been full for two days and if they could take our two day used towels and replenish us with some fresh one. I told him that they didn't have to make our bed since I didn't give them the 24hrs notice. We were only staying 4 days and we were already in our 3rd day. It was pointless now to get housekeeping to change our bedsheets. Everything there you have to ask for. We had to ask for hand towels and face wash since there never were supplied in our room. The housekeepers I found were in the hallway apparently cleaning up other rooms. She said they didn't have any wash clothes just hand towels. No food, just snacks and candy bars-- you would find more options in a vending machine than what they had at the hotel. Very limited beverages in their "bar/restaurant" and if you order a soda it's $4 for a 8oz bottle. Tip: find the Safeway down Bollinger and stock up on food, beer, or wine you want to drink during your stay. They do have a mini frig for you to put your drinks in to keep them cold. This is a sad hotel for it to be consider a 2.5 or even a 3 star hotel. I only gave them 2 stars review because at least they had a pool. Never never will we stay here ever again. Pros: Very comfortable bed with nice linens. Not the starchy scratchy stuff and the blanket was a nice light comforter. Thick soft towels. Convenient location with easy access to the freeway. Clean rooms and bathrooms. Fitness center and pool: water and towels provided and I'd suspect the dirty towels aren't removed daily. Coffee maker. We didn't use the coffee provided, but it was functional for hot water. Hand sanitizer throughout the hotel. Laundry facilities: I read they are available but didn't use them. Cons: Rooms are only cleaned every 7th day, and light cleaning requests require 24 hour notice. Paper cups: only 1 was provided and when I asked housekeeping for more, she gave me 1. When I asked for more, she gave me the riot act. Fitness center: there is a strong smelling air freshener, the type that brings on a headache. Half of the elliptical and treadmills are out of order. Peep hole was dirty and you really can't see much out of that. Room access cards: occasionally don't work! Mini fridge: it's really tiny but it works. Ice machine: dispenses slivers of ice. Go downstairs for ice blocks. No bar: go next door to Clementine's. This is a no frills hotel. Check in and out processes were fine. What I care about is how well I slept and given the room faced the road, the street noise wasn't as bad. PS. Reset the alarm clock so you are not woken up. read more

Not a bad place, especially for the price. I was in town for work, and found this hotel for $120 a night. The room was clean, and the staff was friendly. The bar/coffee area was never open for the whole time I was there. I liked the big TV and hot shower with plenty of water pressure. Just be careful if you take a long shower with the bathroom door open because it can set the smoke alarm off (ask me how I know). I would recommend asking for a room that faces the front of the property as the back faces the noisy freeway. I would stay here again. read more

Sonesta Select San Ramon (2/5) I stayed there from July 12-14. I was participating in a wedding and the hotel was very close to the wedding location. On the outside, the hotel looks lovely. Hotel Lobby (4/5): This is the only redeemable thing about the hotel. The lobby is very spacious with ample seating. Bedroom (3/5): I stayed in a 2-bedroom. One of the beds had someone's hair folded inside the sheets. For my peace of mind, I assumed it belonged to the cleaning staff. However, I sprayed everything down. Bathroom/ Toilet (2/5): There's only one bathroom. The bathroom is adjacent to the shower/tub. If you wanna shower and someone has to take a #2, then you'll have to get friendly. The water in the bathroom actually gets hot. However, my hotel room had a faulty shower rod. It fell off in the wee morning hours and I had to go down to the front desk to have it fixed. Mind you, when the rack feel, it was only holding ONE towel and ONE wash cloth. Not sturdy at all. And, the sinks are outside of the bathroom. This is nice for when someone needs to brush their teeth while someone else showers or does their business. Closet (2/5): The closet is awkwardly located across the sink. However, it is easily covered by the bathroom door. If the bathroom door is open, you can't get in the closet. Trash Cans: The trash cans in the bedrooms are trash cans that a toddler could easily use. They're extremely tiny and hold almost no waste. If you want to bring a meal back to your hotel room, you're better off leaving your trash outside your door so someone can come pick it up. Noise (1/5): The hotel is located right off of an extremely busy highway. You'll ALWAYS hear cars passing by. The walls are thin too. So, if a guest is being loud in the hallway, you can hear it in your room. Cleanliness (2/5): The hotel cleaning staff doesn't not come by each room daily. I had to go down to the front desk myself to get more towels. And then, the hotel didn't even have all towels available. I only got body and floor towels because the face towels were still being cleaned. Wedding Preparations (1/5): Onto the wedding aspect of the hotel. My friend had booked the bridal suite. She went down to the front desk at 8:30 AM to tell them that she was ready to check in. Mind you, she had stayed in a regular room the night prior so the hotel staff knew why she was there and that the suite would be in use on the 13th. The bridal suite was not ready until 2:20 PM!!! The setup was gorgeous but we as a bridal party only got to enjoy it for no more than 3 hours before we had to head to the wedding venue. The bridal party had to get our makeup done in a regular hotel room since the suite was not ready by the time the makeup artist arrived. Extremely unprofessional. It should not take that long to prepare a bridal suite especially when the bride checked in the night before! The suite should've been ready come the morning. Overall, the nightly rate is extremely overpriced for what the hotel actually offers. The hotel on paper has the nice amenities but when you actually look at the gym and pool-both are extremely small. The gym holds about 3 people comfortably. The pool is only 5 feet deep and is right next to the smoker's area of the hotel. I'll tell you right now that chlorine and nicotine don't pair well like wine and cheese. And to add insult to injury, they don't even provide continental breakfast. Paying over $100/night for such a service was truly insane and criminal. read more

I had to call hotels.com to clear this up since they refused to honor my fifth room and i had alreay paid for. The room was clean, but I rather pay more and save myself the inconvenience they created due to their error. I was charged an additional $65.00 after check out, for what I do not know. I stayed at the Sonesta Select in San Ramon, California during the summer, moving from out of state. What was to be a one week stay turned into a weeks-long stay, with cats, as my new place wasn't ready yet. Because it was not easy to change rooms once I unpacked after being exhausted, etc., I stayed in a second floor room facing the back of the hotel/pool/freeway. The room has a balcony with a lovely, peaceful view out of the sliding glass doors of pretty trees and sunlight dappling through the trees. If you could get past the noise of the freeway, seldom being able to keep the sliding glass screen door open for longer than 15 minutes for the freeway noise, and the rather loud AC, the room was extremely comfortable, for an ordinary King 'Deluxe' room, with mini fridge and shower. While small, it felt cozy and comfortable for our weeks-long stay. Even my cats settled right in. The huge TV screen let us enjoy Netflix and Youtube, and the shower was great. The small sink area and closet was fine. Pretty and easy to clean slate flooring near bath/sink area. The bed was very comfortable. I enjoyed how quiet the floor generally was; perhaps there were not many guests often on that floor, but whatever the reason, it felt private and quiet, during times the traffic noise was less. The staff was friendly, accommodating, kind and helpful, even through some rough patches, one involving an unannounced mandatory-by-law smoke alarm check and fire marshall visit. My cats were freaked out and had I known about it the night before, I could have spirited them out of there early in the morning. It was upsetting having to endure very loud alarms going off periodically for a few hours, but the cats, little troopers that they are, faired far better than I did, and emerged seemingly unscathed. The staff was very kind when I needed replenishment of supplies, such as towels, sheets, TP or tissues, and were patient and courteous when I had questions pertaining to my bill as I had to keep extending my stay. The rates were very reasonable, for this lovely area with shops, restaurants, and a beautiful library nearby. One suggestion I'd make is to keep the clothes dryer working well, as a couple of times I had laundry I could not get dry despite money put in the machine, and only one washer/dryer for this small hotel. I'd suggest to anyone wanting to avoid most of the freeway sound, ask for a room facing the front or the side of the hotel. I was on the second floor, which was convenient as I could easily walk up or down the stairs if I didn't want to wait for the elevator. If I have friends/family visiting the East Bay I'd suggest staying here, as the staff was so pleasant and helpful, and the room I was in was quite comfortable. Had I been staying here without pets and in a room facing the front rather than the rear of the hotel, my stay would have been all the nicer. Some reviewers complained of the hotel being 'dated' but I found it to be very clean and for the most part quiet (I mean apart from traffic on one side). Some older hotels have a weird stale smell in the hallways, but this Sonesta always smelled nice to me, and the housekeeping staff were often seen cleaning rooms, and had a pleasant and helpful manner. read more

I stayed at Sonesta San Ramon because it was a package deal as a Wedgewood customer. I am very sorry I did. It was a huge hassle from the beginning- From the over-priced rooms to the rude front desk personnel. I met the director, Michele Clark, through the Wedgewood Wedding fair and she was my main communication in helping me plan my wedding day hotel accommodations. We exchanged a few emails in April and May to figure out my initial needs. After I knew what I required, I requested help booking the bridal suite for me, and a few rooms for my guests. Michele asked me to call her on 5/6 and I responded back to inquire about a time to make a phone call appointment time- She did not reply to me. I decided to call Michele on 5/27 because I never heard back from her. She informed me that the hotel would reach out to me to help with a booking link. I never received a call or email from them. I responded back on 6/5 stating I never received communication from the Sonesta San Ramon to assist me with my booking link. I reached out via email again to request assistance in booking the rooms- my wedding was around the corner! By 7/5 I finally had the booking link for my group. Since myself, and my bridal party needed to get ready early in the morning on my wedding day, Michele clarified that I'd need to book the room for two nights. I understood, however, I was not informed until the day of booking that the discount would only apply to one night unfortunately. I sent the link and my guests notified me that they were unable to book their rooms. I reached out to Michele asking for help. She said there was an issue with the booking date, and told me it was fixed. I told my guests the link was updated and should work. However, they still had trouble with the link and tried multiple times to book their rooms. One of my guests even had to call the front desk herself to book theirs. A few of my guests were so frustrated with the faulty link that they ended up booking their rooms with another hotel. The link didn't work for me either- I had to call Sonesta San Ramon to confirm my reservation and they assured me that we were all set. When we arrived, the front desk person stated she had (3) rooms booked under my name for the bridal party which was wrong. We had difficulties with our room keys, ill-stocked rooms, and snotty front desk personnel. My expensive bridal suite was decorated with leftover decorations, napkins that said "Bridal Shower", and dirty champagne glasses. Overall I am very disappointed with Sonesta San Ramon, from their lack of communication, lack of hospitality, and inability to accommodate their guests. read more

This is a very disappointing hotel. The hotel facilities are comparable to a normal 3 star hotel. However, this hotel has an option to pay for breakfast separately when making a reservation. I paid about 20 dollars for breakfast, but the breakfast menu was only a bagel, yogurt, and juice. It is not right to charge 20 dollars for such a menu. read more

Booked this hotel for my wedding room block. Overall the rooms were fine, but these are my problems with this hotel. I have a mixed review since I had both positive and negative experiences. 1. Myself and my brother were both given dirty rooms upon check in. My brother's room took over an hour to be cleaned and couldn't be given a new room since there were no other executive double Queen rooms available. 2. On the day of my wedding their elevator became stuck with members of my bridal party. When the front desk was informed of this they did not put the elevator out of order and this caused a family member of mine to get stuck 30 minutes later. This family member ended up having a major panic attack because the elevator was not put out of order when the staff were informed of the issue. 3. Hosted an event in their lobby and there were major miscommunications about said event. Then the manager/ team lied to me in an email later on about said event. I hope they use my unfortunate experience to do better in the future when hosting events on their premises. A 5 minute conversation with me day of the event would have solved our entire issue before it became an issue. I liked that the hotel was walking distance to a restaurant and I liked and that there was plenty of seating in the lobby. The staff were kind enough to put my wedding bouquet in water and refrigerate my wedding cake leftovers, which I appreciated very much. My friend reserved a block of rooms for her wedding. None of the guests were able to reserve rooms through the link provided. Multiple guests booked rooms at other hotels instead due to the inconvenience. The bride called several times and the link still didn't work. I had to call myself to reserve the room. I was told I could only have a discount for one night, which was incorrect. When I showed up to check in, my reservation was only for one night, which was also incorrect. They had two rooms reserved under the bride's name -- once again, incorrect. The check in process took forever due to all of the issues, and the staff were not sympathetic. Then, my key didn't work to open my room. When I finally got into my room, I was locked out of it because the door that connected the rooms slammed shut and my key and phone were in the room. I tried to call the front desk but the phone in the bridal suite didn't work. I was already short on time because I had to attend the rehearsal dinner, but I had to run downstairs to have them provide me with another key. They should have warned us about the locking door when we checked in. No apology for yet another inconvenience. Then, I called to request complementary champagne and some glasses (for the bridal suite) the next morning, and the person working at the front desk seemed irritated that I called and asked for it (I also had to call from my cell phone because none of the phones in our rooms worked). He said "I'll figure something out." As if I were inconveniencing him for requesting something that was included in price for the room. After waiting for at least 30 minutes, I had to call again because we still hadn't received the champagne. The front desk clerk said he couldn't bring it up because he couldn't leave the desk, but he hadn't mentioned this previously. We were incredibly busy that morning preparing for the wedding, and it was a huge hassle to have to keep calling and waiting on the front desk. There was also old food in the fridge in my room, which hadn't been cleaned since the last guest stayed in it. We also didn't have enough cups or towels in our rooms. The rooms were very expensive, we were there for a special occasion, and there were numerous issues and the staff were not apologetic or accommodating. Everyone in my party was highly disappointed with the experience. Needless to stay, none of us will be staying with Sonesta Select San Ramon in the future. Update: my card was charged multiple times by Sonesta and they couldn't find the additional charges so I had to cancel my credit card. Worst hotel experience I've ever encountered. read more

The rooms here are freakin amazing lol very well put together, clean and modern. Huge tv's on a adjustable swivel mega mounts, have the option to sign into Netflix. The little modern couch and ottoman they provide is SO comfortable. The beds are super clean and comfortable. I mean really, I love how everything was designed in this place. We enjoyed all 5 days. The staff was also really nice, attentive as well. Hotel room was 10/10 Some minor hiccups - you guys should realllly provide a microwave in all the room. Not just the suites. Also please make sure those little electric water boilers that are provided for the complimentary tea and coffee are wiped clean. Mine was fullllll of gunk and funk inside. Also should boot out the ppl who do not have any respect and decides to hotbox their neighbors ( which was me) room too. Every day. I'm not a hater, do what you need to do to make yourself happy - just do it further away. My room smelled like weed bc of the ppl on their patio next to me. Wasn't fun for my kid and I to be stuck in the room With that stank. read more

Nice place and they said the gave me a bigger room with a patio. There was no continental breakfast at all and the coffee in the lobby was like hot water. I mentioned it to the front desk girl and she shrugged her shoulders and did nothing. Went to clementines next door for breakfast. As someone else mentioned in a prior post, the breakfast was over priced? What breakfast I would ask. read more

I don't usually post comments but this place stressed me out. We're from Nevada and came here to attend baptismal. I booked for two nights. I didn't know that hotels have different rules when it comes to cleaning up everyday. I didn't know that it had to be requested. After the party we returned to the hotel. I was expecting for a clean room but was so disappointed that they didn't clean the room and didn't change towels and didn't empty the trash cans. We went down and talked to receptionist. She said that everyone who checked in was given this paper saying that we have to request for clean up. I said it was not given to us. Instead of apologizing they insisted that it was posted in the room. As a good customer service better not talk at all instead of putting the blame on guests. Last January I stayed in Four Seasons for two nights. We didn't request for refresh and our towels are hanged because I know it's automatic that everyday they clean the room. When we came back after the meeting the room was clean, the trash cans were emptied and the towels were replaced. It was nice. But today is not a good experience. So sad. read more

This hotel will not allow people to deliver anything to your room, but they also will not bring deliveries to your room when they arrive. Maybe this is no problem for you, go ahead and stay there. But just be aware of this non-negotiable restriction if your expecting not to have to take an elevator to get breakfast. read more

Didn't have my id but a picture of it and the card on file I used to book the hotel. Explained to Dasia who was dressed in a Tshirt leggings and headban-unprofessional and Isacc- who apparently manages the hotel from his cell phone and wasn't even present that my Driver's license was gone. They assured me they cancelled the hotel however they didn't know that when you book with a third party you need to contact them to refund the money. I had to ask for a cancellation confirmation. Had to call the third party and work it out with them myself then have them call the hotel. Would have paid for a room I wasnt allowed to use. Wouldn't stay here. Believe this used to be a Marriott bring them back. read more
