I drive by this place everyday to and from work and have noticed a retarded line every time I pass so I wanted to check it out. I am a bit of a burger aficionado and rate in-n-out, red coat and the Counter as my favorite. The burger was mediocre at best. The patty was very dry and tasteless. The fries were embarrassing, they tasted like frozen potatoes. The prices were very comparable to MacDonalds. Maybe worth a taste when the line dies down, but I would never recommend Sonic. read more

This location is very slow. Food wasn't that great the first time we came. Just tried it again and very slow. Through the drive-thur window you could see the inside wasn't clean. We just got ice cream and had to wait more than 5 min. Also I believe anyone with long hair should have to wear it up regardless of gender. Ice cream was not good. Tried twice never again. Granted, this was lunch on a Friday- but a group of coworkers and I stopped by on our lunch hour and got out of the car to eat on the patio. After my coworker ordered and sat down I waited for three minutes to place my order while the red light flashed. Finally, I was able to ask for a Chipotle breakfast burrito with tots and a diet coke with chocolate flavoring. "A number 11?" the voice asked. "Sure," I replied. Silence. A little bit later the voice comes back on: "ok, that was a number four with fries and a cherry coke?" "No... A burrito with tots and a chococate coke." "So you want a number 11?" "Yes," I respond. "What kind of burrito do you want?" "a chipotle one. The new one." "Uh... Let me see..." After another minute of silence the voice comes on again... "Can you press the button again?" I did. My coworker gets her food a second later and asks the bellhop if she can help us. By now there are seven people behind me after two had left in disgust. She presses the button and the flashing begins. Finally, a voice comes on and asks for my name and order. I changed my name to make it easier. And changed my order to the easiest it could be. A number 9- grilled chicken with tots and a coke. How was the food? Ok. I've had better chicken sandwiches from everywhere I've been. And it wasn't what I wanted- I had to change my order to fit THEIR needs, not mine. I've been to Sonics before so I'll go to the company again. But not this location. I come for the tator tots and cherry limeade! Service is a bit slow even in their drive thru. Their cheeseburgers are pretty good, I actually like them better than Mickey D's cheeseburgers. Milkshakes are delicious as well not sure why they have such low stars. Maybe for their service? I have encountered some not so friendly cashiers, but I can overlook that. I wish they gave you more tator tots in their large size though. read more

This location leaves a lot to be desired. Being a regular traveler to the great American south, I frequent what I consider to be the REAL Sonics. The southgate location was the first one i tried up here in MI and it wasn't as good as down south...but nothing is. The Commerce location is the worst Sonic I've ever been to. The line is ridiculous most of the time and they've got some real interesting characters hanging around out there. For instance, the two guys monitoring the line and letting people through had this girl with them wearing seriously next to nothing. Her mouth was so foul and loud that I rolled up the window and gave them a dirty look. She was probably the trashiest person I've ever seen in the Novi area and she spoke in that "urban" broken english. So already I'm not liking the atmosphere at this one. I finally get to the menu to order and the girl taking my order was really friendly, as I've come to expect in dealing with sonic of the south. I wanted a toaster burger combo with a route 44 cherry limeaid. Toaster is broken and they're out of route 44 cups.. UGH!! I order a regular burger instead and a large cherry limeaid, the combo. The fries were seriously bad and the burger, while alright, was not what you get in Tennessee. Limeaid was awesome, you really can't mess that up though. So overall, I think the people around here who have never had sonic but have watched the commercials for 5 years are probably like, "WTF is all the fuss about? This place isn't even that great." Agreed, but don't write of Sonic completely until you've tried it south of the mason-dixon. All this being said, I'm still a sucker for cherry limeaid and will continue going for them alone. read more

If I could rate this place a zero, I would. Food tastes awful. It took multiple tries to get all of our ordered drinks. Got sweet tea, they brought me flavored tea that was awful. When I said it wasn't sweet tea, they argued with me. I ended up throwing, literally everything in the trash and left. read more

Went here the other day and had a chicken sandwich that was average at best...I think the White Lake Sonic has MUCH better food. My biggest issue with the sandwich really was with the Bun, which was rather stale. Service was fast and friendly, and the Ice Cream is the best Soft Serve you will get - ANYWHERE. No soft serve is as creamy and delicious...I dare you to prove me wrong!! read more

Manager gave attitude when my son asked for his blast without whip cream. She obnoxiously said " it doesn't come with whip cream". Of course it came with whip cream. Went to the drive through and got my order. Got home to find out the 3 breakfast burritos I got was totally wrong. Not only totally wrong but were all kinds of messed up, not even rolled into a burrito and all super tiny as well. Took them back to sonic to be treated poorly when they were in the wrong. They did remake them but did not even offer to replace my cold tater tots that won't be worth eating now they are cold. Wouldn't even give them 1 star, came through the drive thru and as we waited to decide what we wanted, the lady employee gave us a huge attitude while ordering. They have good meals but when I went there they put a straw in my ice cream. So I had to use it as a spoon until I got home, which was 30 minutes away from Sonic. It was barely even ice cream, and how am I supposed to be able to eat big chunks of Oreos with a straw. Other than that it was good. read more

Sonic is one of my guilty pleasures. My husband will not go anymore because of how much the chain has gone downhill in terms of service. I can overlook a broken speaker once and a while to get my fix, but today was the last straw. I pulled in at NOON and there were only a couple cars in the drive thru. That should have been clue number 1. The stalls I normally pull into all had signs that I assumed said the speaker was broken. I pulled into a stall on the other side that looked open. There were empty beer cans all over the parking spot next to me. When I hit the red button, the girl told me the stalls were closed but I could go through the drive thru. Pull up to the speaker to order and there is a big sign saying they could not serve anything containing ice cream. Well, okay. And the computer screen that shows your order still has not been fixed. I'm sorry, Sonic, but I can't do this anymore. It's turned into a major dump and I really need to give my money to a company who takes pride in their product. We wanted to go for a shake and some hot dogs, so we figured Sonic would be a good bet. We normally love Sonic and have never had a bad experience to note. However, at this Sonic the service was extremely slow, and the grounds were very unkept. There was trash all over, the garbage was overflowing, and multiple signs were cracked and falling over. Also, the car side drive-in wasn't even working, so we had to go through the very slow drive thru. They need to hire someone to get rid of all the weeds and keep the place looking decent! read more

I've always liked sonic. Not my favorite, but I've gone a handful of times over the years. I've gone to this location three times now. And for some reason, the food has been terrible everytime. It seems like the food has been sitting under warmers since they opened. It never tastes like it is fresh. I know its fast food but you expect it be made in the past ~4 hours. And also to note; all three times have been different times of day and no later than 7pm. It seems consistently bad no matter what time I go. Needless to say I'll drive the extra 15min to the next closest sonic when I'm craving it. I recommend you do the same. read more

This entire SONIC location is BAD! Garbage everywhere, dirty building, dirty drive up window, with no carside service, rude staff, We normally love Sonic. Every bite of food was cold and underdone! I've attempted to eat at the Pontiac Trail location two times now. Both times I pulled up to the drive-thru, I was politely told that they were closed. This place is really really cool, I like it so much here. If you think going to get food when you're really hungry and then not being able to order food is cool; this is the place for you. Also, I really like how the screen at the drive-thru is broken and shows an error message, it adds to the overall experience. read more

I have never seen such a poorly run fast food restaurant in my life. Where do I start. The drive thru service is excruciatingly slow. I was in line for 30 minutes with only 3 cars in front of me before giving up and driving away. The restaurant is so run-down. The drive thru menu sign was hanging crooked and the order screen had programming language on it where the order should be. Appears only one person was working -- taking orders AND making the food and drinks. This location is notorious for its slowness but I had never experienced anything like this. I will never be back and would not be surprised if it's closed and out of business within 6 months. This place is ridiculous. Sonics are few and far between here in Michigan. Being from Texas we are used to them being on every corner practically. This one is not representing the chain very well. Mainly because apparently they have an idiot taking orders at the drive thru. Their drive in menus (whatever) are all down so we all have to parade through the single, traditional drive through, which shouldn't be a huge ordeal. Three cars in front of me when I pulled up at 1:50, and only two have placed their orders. The lady in front of me has been trying to place her order for at least 5 minutes. Why is this difficult? This is Sonic, not Benihana. Actually, that's insulting to Benihana because their menu is much more complicated and they always have themselves together...and they actually cook the food in front of you. So it's 2:03 and I just drove off. The lady in front of me was still ordering. I really don't see how they are still in business if they can't handle basic business like this. read more

After waiting for a while amd witnessing other receive food both om the patio and in the car hop stalls when the intercom was answered i was told that the patio and car hops were closed. went to this sonic on may 31st,,,would not recommend this place to anyone. Both orders we received were cold. Then, my ex-husband needed to use the restroom, so we moved over to the handicap space and noticed a male employee and his girlfriend in a white ford focus parked in the other handicap parking space. My ex-husband pointed to the handicap sign and the young man said she will move it now. After they talked and another female employee came outside and started to talk to her at least five minutes pasted. My husband also had a difficult time opening the door to use the rest room. Finally after a few more minutes the male and female employee went inside and the girlfriend in the car starting yelling wait,,wait. She had to back out of the handicap space and yelled for her boyfriend. He came out and they exchanged a few stares at me and some conversation along with a pack of cigerattes. At that point we decide to leave. This is by far the worst Sonic or maybe even the worst fast food restaurant in the the state. It started the first time I went and got the wrong food after a 15 min wait. I forgave them and tried again and got cold food that was not what I ordered. Last night my fiancee called on her way home and asked what I wanted from Sonic I told her not to go but she insisted. After a 20 min wait in the drive thru they forgot an order of tots so instead of waiting another 20 to get back though the drive thru she knocked on the service window and was treated very rudely by one of the many teens inside standing around doing nothing. Once she finally got home we found two very cold soggy sandwich's that were not even the ones we ordered and a Chicago hot dog that was stood up in the box so all of the toppings had slid down and were leaking into the bag.....My tots were cold and not luke warm cold but re- fried twice and then left on the counter cold.In the middle cold. As was what I could salvage of the dog. At this point I am convinced that they just give you whatever old cold food they have lying around no matter what you order. This place needs some management it obviously has none whatsoever and the owner obviously doesn't have a yelp account. Not only will I never go back but will go out of my way to steer everyone I know away from this gross excuse for a food establishment. read more
