Why don't they ever have normal lids??
    Jamie L.

Literally the worst Sonic ever. Every single time we go something is wrong or weird. Today they handed up large Dr Peppers with a shake lid. Spilling a drink in my car is super annoying. Glad my kids didn't get a drink with those lids. They never have normal lids.

Supposed to be chili cheese fries.

Stopped in for a quick bite on our way home.. ordered chili cheese fries. When our order was brought out-the toppings looked skimpy so I went up to ask if they could add more chili and chs. They said that's how much comes on it & handed it back. What happened to the customer being right? Why not add a little more? Dissatisfied customers for sure.

We ordered blue cheese with the wings and got ranch. Our celery was probably previously frozen as we could bend it together and touch each end without it breaking! Told the server about this when we asked for new sauces. He replied, sorry... he took the two unopened sauces and brought two blue cheese out. Not replacing the third. I know it's petty, but I did not realize that my water would come in a bottle, with no ice. I asked for ice he brought it out. I also asked if there was a charge for the bottle of water. He said yes. It would've been nice to know that before I ordered. We were very surprised at the end when we asked him if we could get two checks for our table, he shared with us he couldn't, it had to be on one rather than cause a scene we decided to deal with it. At the end, we ask if we could get a receipt, he shared the best he could do is to let us come up and take a picture of the screen. Little bit disappointed in the entire experience as we are here from the state of Ohio and had hoped for a bit of a different experience. Overall, your outside service area was well done with plenty of room for seating and it was a nice touch having the haters.

Blake greeted me and he was very friendly. I sat at the bar and ordered a burger and fries, chicken wings, and onion rings. They had one cook, and he was pretty cool. This was definitely a "locals" bar, but the staff made me feel comfortable. The food took a while to come out, but when it did, it was fresh and hot. Everything tasted ok, but the burger and onion rings, which had been recommended by the bartender, were really good. The bar was well stocked, and the beer was cold. They had plenty of patio seating, and they host live music. The bar area and the bathrooms are in need of some TLC. Parking on Main Street can be a challenge. I went the next day to have a burger and onion rings, but they were out of onion rings. I settled for seasoned fries, which were ok.

The salad was light, tasty, & the glazed pecans were a special treat. The other dishes enjoyed were the Texas Triple and 1/2 Chicken salad sandwich with potato corn soup. When the dish arrived, however, the steak was clearly overcooked and closer to well done than medium-rare. When we raised the concern, the waiter claimed she had told us the meat would come out anywhere from medium-rare to well done due to how it sits in the warmer, and then suggested we must have misunderstood her initial explanation. This contradiction was frustrating and unprofessional, especially as it felt like our concern was being dismissed rather than addressed. Both the waiter and manager insisted the steak was cooked correctly, despite it clearly not being medium-rare. After we sent it back, they replaced it with a filet that was prepared properly. They did remove the original entrée from the bill, but then charged us for the filet at cost. Given the situation, it would have been more appropriate to simply substitute the filet at the original menu price. Unfortunately, my meal was also very underwhelming. The fish lacked flavor and was not enjoyable. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, especially for a special anniversary dinner. I will say -- the hummus plate was delightful. Light and great flavor for an appetizer. The drinks were also very good too.

Unfortunately, this experience felt less like a restaurant opening and more like a dress rehearsal no one stopped. First problem: location confusion. We went to what turned out to be their second spot--which, crucially, was not called Nurys on the sign. Same ownership, new space, old identity crisis. Walking in felt like entering a building that hadn't yet decided what it wanted to be when it grew up. The lingering aroma? A strange duet of fish, antiseptic, and industrial cleaning agents. Not hunger-inducing. More "urgent care with a fryer." There was no one there, which made sense--it was between brunch and lunch--but somehow the wait for food felt disproportionately long for what arrived. What arrived, sadly, was mediocrity wearing a Tex-Mex costume. They seemed to be aiming for Tex-Mex but landed somewhere closer to Tex-Flex--stretching flavors thin until they snapped. The barbacoa was fatty in a way that suggested less "slow-cooked tradition" and more "glistening regret." It didn't taste authentic, or even especially intentional. Just heavy. The guacamole--perhaps the most unforgivable offense--was bad. Guacamole is avocados, salt, lime, and love. That's it. This had none of the above. The waitstaff wasn't rude, exactly--just possessed by the clear energy of people who would prefer you to finish quickly so they could resume their real lives. Hospitality should feel like an invitation, not a countdown. Now, maybe the original Nurys is wonderful. I hope it is. But if that's the case, why open a second location only to phone it in? Expansion should mean excellence multiplied, not care divided. There are too many good places in Fredericksburg doing things right to settle for something half-hearted. This one wasn't terrible--it was worse. It was forgettable. And that's the real disappointment.

Right away, the service felt off. Our waitress didn't even ask if we wanted drinks before jumping straight to, "Are you ready to order food?" Then she disappeared for long periods, even though we were basically her only table besides one other couple. The food was extremely underwhelming -- basic, barely warm, and nothing memorable. On top of that, there were so many flies inside that we were nonstop swatting them away. And to make matters worse, there was a bug in my drink when it was served to me. That was pretty much the final straw. Overall, a very forgettable and disappointing experience. We probably won't come again, and I would not recommend it.

Wanted to try a different restaurant this past weekend and was craving a Pastrami Reuben sandwich…read moreso I looked on Yelp to find some good suggestions. Found this place, looked at the menu and checked it out. The place is very rustic, lots of wood and western-themed. We were asked if we wanted to sit outside or by the bar but I wanted somewhere quiet so we sat in the dining room off the main entrance. Lots of light flood thru. A musician was setting up outside but it was still a little chilly for me. We were the 2nd couple who was in this dining room as most were in the bar area. I passed by on my way to the bathroom and it was open towards the back deck so it had a nice vibe with college football playing on the screens. We were greeted by the waitress and ordered drinks--iced tea and Diet Pepsi while perusing the menu. We both ordered the Pastrami Reuben which came with a side. I chose the Warm Potato Salad to try it out and hubs got the Sauerkraut which was surprisingly warm and fresh. The waitress said "You've never had warm Sauerkraut??" And we hadn't! She also said if I didn't like the Warm Potato Salad, she'd give me something else. Our sandwiches came shortly thereafter and I'd say they were great! The meat was juicy and tender and a good portion, the rye bread wasn't too thick which was nice and just a little Swiss cheese was added and some Sauerkraut. I took some of my hubs' Sauerkraut to add a little more to 1/2 of my sandwich. He loved it and ate all the Sauerkraut with joy. I tasted my Warm Potato Salad which is a German style and the first 2 bites were okay. Then it got too vinegary for me so I just ate the bacon bits and just another bite of potatoes. I know where our next stop is the next time I want a Pastrami Reuben! I took photos of the building on our way out as it had lots of character.

Our server was a lovely older gentleman, who tried to accommodate us despite issues with the kitchen. The weather was nice and we enjoyed sitting outside with live music. Not so good things: Sitting outside was nice, except the musicians had their music way too loud for the size of the space and it was a restaurant, not a concert venue. We literally had to yell to hear each or the server. The kitchen was backed up so it took forever for our food to arrive. The food was also pretty expensive. We don't visit Fredericksburg very often, but I think we'll stick with Auslander when we want German food.

Social House -- Breakfast Done Right (Just... Very Close Together)…read more Social House is the kind of breakfast place that reminds you why brunch became a lifestyle in the first place. The food is genuinely good--thoughtful, fresh, and clearly made by people who care about flavor and your well-being. This is "healthy but not sad" breakfast, the kind that lets you feel virtuous without punishing you for it. The menu is strong across the board. Everything tastes intentional, balanced, and well-executed. You can tell someone in the kitchen understands restraint, texture, and the delicate art of making vegetables feel like a reward. Is it slightly overpriced? Yes. But it's the kind of overpriced you accept with a nod, because the plate in front of you earns most of it. The place is busy--very busy--but that's just life when a restaurant does things well. People show up. The issue isn't the crowd; it's the compression. Social House packs people in like a breakfast Tetris game. Tables are close enough that you accidentally learn about strangers' weekend plans, dietary restrictions, and relationship problems. It's communal in a way no one asked for. And that's really the only thing holding it back from five-star territory. The experience never quite gets to breathe. The food wants you to linger. The room says, "Eat joyfully, but quickly." Still, the staff handles the chaos with professionalism and grace, and the overall vibe remains warm and welcoming despite the controlled madness. This is a place that knows what it is: a popular, well-run, genuinely good breakfast spot that feeds a lot of people very well. Bottom line: if you want a healthy, tasty, reliably excellent breakfast and don't mind sharing oxygen with half of Austin, Social House delivers.
